    This is the most interesting phone of the year as far as I'm concerned. It might be the last 5.9 inch flagship we ever see. With a headphone jack and a charger no less. People complain about the updates and fair enough but I would rather have a headphone jack and a charger than get Android 15 in 3 years.

      I consider updates a non-issue. Sooner or later you will end up looking at a custom Rom anyway to stay ahead of the "this OS is too old to run this app".
      Is how i've managed to keep my 8y old HTC M9 still kicking.

    • @CassidyOG
      @CassidyOG 2 года назад +2

      This is 2022. You can get chargers from literally anywhere and everywhere for pretty much nothing. Getting a charger with the phone is a complete waste in the majority of cases. The practice is absolutely terrible for the environment and it's good that the producers have mostly stopped doing it.

    • @DarkViperus
      @DarkViperus 2 года назад +18

      @@CassidyOG new phones should ideally use new gallium nitride chargers that are more expensive and a lot more powerful. Like 40$ for 65W. You have your old 10-20W charger from your last phone that is totally inadequate to charge your new phone. But at least the company saves 40$ And you ship a new charger from Amazon so you get 2 packets instead of 1, which is twice as bad for the environemnt.

    • @AlkaVirus
      @AlkaVirus 2 года назад +10

      @@CassidyOG then they should make the phone cheaper since it has no charger. If I'm paying full price for a phone I want the charger.

    It's nice to see the USB C port being modular on such a compact phone. A lot of similar flagships have integrated them into the board to make them harder to replace.

    Good, detailed and well presented tear down video. Thank you. It looks very hard to replace the battery. But yeah hope that all phone makers are using long lasting carbon/garphene based materials on their batteries. My hardly used galaxy s9 plus is now 4 years old and I'm still using the same battery- it made a lot of 4K60fps video thousands of pictures and was charged sometimes three times a day while in use for satellite navigation in my truck 🚚 AND IT STILL WORKS 👍🏻 Zenfone 9 16GB/256GB might be my next choice due to its compact size, comparative to iphone13 camera(Asus might give us more updates to the camera in future 🤞) IT'S JUST DAMN GOOD PHONE 🤳

    I'm currently repairing my Zenfone 9. I tried to transfer the usb port like shown in the video. BE REALLY CAREFULL, the stupid cable will tear off if you handle it like shown in the video. Lift it up instead and carefully pry with a little tool.
    Replacement part will arive on July 9. I will post then. Also the headphone port broke. I cannot find a replacement online, but i'm wireless now so it won't be a problem.
    Thanks for the guide tho, it's the only one on the internet.😊

    • @PBKreviews

      Most people go for the flagships and not as much for the compact mid to low range phones so probably the reason for it. I'm sure if more people were buying the mid to low end devices over the flagship larger ones, then they would have more focus on those.

    Despite the fact it is a great smartphone, there are some drawbacks in terms of accessibility to internal components. The plastic back panel is an interesting solution but, if I am going to switch an exhausted battery, it is not acceptable that I must take off the camera modules and the cooling film.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Год назад +1

      The graphite film can be lifted back and not peeled off if you wanted to, but yeah there are additional flex cables and such which run over the battery that need to be disconnected as well. Not the simplest battery replacement but not too difficult either.

    insane how hard it is to get inside a phone these days. Thankfully EU will force all of these greedy bastards to go back to the way things were back in the days, the changes are coming soon in 2027.
    Repairing your phone on your own without any special tools is simply impossible with zenfone 9. You need glues, pry tools at least.

    Ah... I am watching it second time, and now I see LI-PO battery... It no go for me.
    300-500 cycles of LI-PO vs 2000 or +3000 cycles when you take care of LI-ION.
    It is the great gadget, but a weak tool.
    If you read it, please make a Sony Xperia 10 IV video.

    • @khamigen
      @khamigen Год назад

      Li-Po and Li-Ion often describe the same battery chemistry. Li-po only means that flat batteries for phones can be produced, because li-ion has a liquid electrolyte that is only usable for hard shells in 18650 for example.
      Both have the average voltage of 3,6V to 3,85V and similar capacity.
      There are LiFePo batteries though which have around 3V and endure the 3000 cycles you stated. But no phone known to me uses them because of the low voltage. And no phone uses Li-Ion Cells because of the required shape.

    Technically, I enjoy this kind of teardown. If I may give you a bit of criticism, I would enjoy it more if it didn't feel like it was rushed (the narration part) and if you could have a more natural-sounding tone. It sounds like a forced dictation at times.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  2 года назад +5

      Thanks. I'm a fast speaker and have a deep/mono tone voice lol so its hard for me to sound more natural. I would sound more fake I think if I tried. However I can always try n slow it down a bit more.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  10 месяцев назад +1

      once you take the phone apart as shown in the video, you can heat up and pry the screen off from the frame when the cable has been disconnected from the main board. Unless you have a complete screen and frame combo, where you would just move over all the parts from the old frame to the new.

      @@PBKreviews This required removing the screen to extract the light sensor and speaker grill which didn't come with a frame and screen that atleast I had ordered.
      The top speaker grill is hold down by the screen and the light sensor is to the right of the speaker grill under the screen and the cable to it runs under the screen and is glued down
