The American who quit money to live in a cave

- Daniel Suelo lives in caves in the canyonlands of Utah. He survives by harvesting wild foods and eating roadkill.
He has no job, no bank account and does not accept government welfare. In fact, Suelo has no money at all.
Suelo may have shunned all the trappings of modern American life, but he is not an isolationist.
Since abandoning money in 2000, the former cook from Moab, Utah has remained an active member of his community and avid blogger.
Mark Sundeen, author of The Man Who Quit Money, admits many people would regard Suelo's alternative lifestyle as bizarre. But the 2008 financial crash has led many to question the value of money. He explains some of the lessons found in Suelo's philosophy.

I'm tired of being slaved by the system, that's a good life
i gonna do that
You have to think thow that in ten maybe twenty years hows his health going to be,theres no doctors there no hospitals...and his bones will ache threw arthritis and his joints will give out to...not good my freind, you DO NOT want to be in his silly shoes...
And many Americans can't afford meds
Silly shoes? People are too materialistic and shallow anyway. I think he's brave. You go sir and God bless. Arthritis? Health issues? Then it's your time when TMH decides. So be it.🙏
What a tough line
Awesome way to live, If only I had the guts to do it permanently
Money is kind of the religion of modern days...
Money is the god of modern man. It is the only thing that everyone agrees on...and what people put all their attention to.
The love of money has become greater than the love for others. Popular sayings today are as such; "How can I help you when I have to help myself." Or "Only the strong survive".
Serving others, even if it means sacrifice, is the path less taken. If we all worked side by side to improve humanity instead of ourselves. We would need no money.
i help when i can all the time being on limited income does limit my ability (but when a friend needs a roof they know they got here) hell my friend needed a ride to work cause of winter so i just had him stay here for a month (he would walk to work then my dad would pick him up after) i was down the street from his job (so at least the walk there was during sunlight) i spent my teen yrs helping my neighbor (i learned so much from him too) elderly neighbor of mine. he did pay tho he wouldnt take no for an answer (he has strong belief in u pay for the work a person did) only times he did was when we did volunteer work and thats to be expected.... would cook chili for knights of columbus during christmas time when they sold trees (also was a tree unloader for them too) even tho i dont like churches i still helped them as well... he was a church goer.. so i would help setup and cook for them as well.. my other neighbor i helped his daughters private church school run a fair... i might not like religion but still they want to have fun as well like i do! sorry for long post (ive spent most of my life helping folks so figure at least let ya know we do exist still!
Great to hear! The bible says there is no law against love. Thank you!
Chris Strunk
in fact doing that during my teen yrs i learned roofing siding hard wood flooring, small engine repair washer dryer, worked on a 75 chevy pcikup engine rebuild with another neighbor, the air system for man made lakes (ran the tubing and maintained the blowers for 5yrs) did a pretty much complete rebuild of a 80s case tractor (they are nice too!) oh did some concrete work as well (this is about a third of all i did back then lol!) oh ya a raft that was in the middle of the lake during a storm got moved to a nasty part so kids couldnt use it (so i jumped in tied a rope swam it back to spot on own lmao!!) i wanted to use it too lol (it was good for fishing at night)

Oh please, tell me more. :-/
When a man is down and out, and needs help. It's most likely never a rich man that helps him.
no stress of earning money, no stress of owning expensive stuff, just need food clothing (mostly leaves of trees) and shelter. such a beautiful life
Yes, just the stress of fighting vermin for scraps and wiping the shit off of half-eaten sandwiches.
The world needs more people like this
Just a thought..
I'm choosing to deliberately live the rest of my life with as little money as possible.
What does that accomplish?
"The System" survives off of our desire for more. We willfully enslave ourselves to corporations and individuals for the reward of money. That money is then spent to buy food, clothing, and shelter.. oh yeah, and stuff.
But what if we didn't buy stuff? We didn't have mortgages and vehicle payments and debt in general. What would happen if we didn't give away a good chunk of our paychecks each week to the Gov for the privilege of just simply living?
You see, "The System" operates much like a prison system does. The more inhabitants the prison has, the more money it receives from the government to take care of those prisoners. Except, we are the ones paying for our own imprisonment. The more of us there are working and paying taxes, the more money the Gov gets from us in the form of taxes. And why should we give up anything that is ours so a bunch of politicians and their families can live the rest of their lives without worrying about money. WE ARE THE ONES GIVING IT TO THEM!!..
The only way to kill this Beast is to starve it. We do that by not participating in their programs, their jobs, their oil, their food. Don't you see? It has become a high crime nowadays to live freely off of the land. They won't bother you much if your paying land taxes, electricity and water, internet bills, have a car payment and financed your "off-grid" castle. But let me tell you something. THE GOVERNMENT OWNS NOTHING. To own something means it is yours, you created it, and have the right to give it away or sell it. Land is not one of those things. The world was designed to be shared not fought over and stolen like a bunch of ungrateful children.
MONEY IS THE FUEL THAT FEEDS YOUR ENSLAVEMENT. It isn't worth it...

Big comments hurt my brain
J B how's it going?
Thanks for this
Finally someone who really understands
He is a freer man that most.
He's the least free person in the world. I could go and live like him anytime. But he couldn't go and live like me easily now that he's off the grid.

@@mangerlentement Bruh you are bound for 8 hours in your job. It's easy for you to say but i am sure you would always be scared to resign.
The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil!!!
derealovefestival Survival Then Why are churches always begging for it?
Because Christian religions worship MAMMON.
Another Virtual Identity of Someone Who Isn't ME.. MAMMON makes you a SLAVE..
Another Virtual Identity of Someone Who Isn't Me.. yea when we rob the rich and give to the poor.
Indeed!
It may be better for some to have NO MONEY and live in freedom than to belong to a government or bank and have money that is taken from you.
heres a solution....dont borrow money and dont spend money that you dont fucking have. Its like you guys blame everyone but yourselves for your own stupidity.
nizmojoeblows I think you have misunderstood the message
Simply amazing!
he just chose to live the way we were intended to live FREE. his last name SUELO in spanish means FLOOR/SOIL kind of meaningful for the way he chose to live...nice
Well done to him I admire people who can think for themselves
He is a nut or a lazy bum who lives off of others who work for an honest living. He digs illegally in the trash of...wait for it...businesses! Money. And he lives off the idiocy of friends who are too stupid to tell him to get a job. Somebody has to work to make the food he is given.
A man once said "All you need is a garden and a library"
Thankyou kindly for sharing Daniel's story about giving up money .. His life style look simple yet very humble .
If everyone did this ...there wouldn't be enough road kill ....
***** Because we move out from the caves and built civilization.
offplanetevent or any food to dumpster dive for
***** lots of people are starving
Wheres that at? Im from the midwest illinois indiana kansas iowa , its pure farm land. i live in texas now. And its covered in cows.
+ike OMG.. We don't need to destroy anymore land to farm. There is plenty of that in america already. The problem is not that we don't have enough food, it is that the food is unevenly distributed to the people.
Some days I think this, just how, as humans, we have this ability to understand the world, the resources we have, the means, how to build, create, and destroy.. but all of it is measured in money, and people starve and die, because of not having money.
It takes a brave man to survive in a world that can't live beyond such a means.
Money is an illusion. You ever ask yourself why you work to earn money? The answer is to buy stuff that you want or need. You can get those without money!
Besides you don't own anything. You spend half you life getting stuff and the other half getting rid of it as my grand parents told me. So don't get caught up in buying stuff. You won't miss it when its gone. What you should do is be happy with what you have and hope to enjoy it with others. In the end you're not taking any of it with you when the grim ripper comes to claim his reward.
The day money has no value they'll understand what it was they weren't working for.
Willy Wonka This, coming from the guy who made Everlasting Gobstoppers so the poor children could enjoy candy??? Willy Wonka is a fraud!!!
You're right, there's poison in that candy!
My idol has risen, again! Thank you for staying true to your roots, Mr. Wonka! :)
vernonclassic calm down - no one is suggesting your society be taken away from you.
1:23 _"…and he's often fed by friends and strangers"_
So instead of relying on money, he's now relying on people who have money. Great.
No dumb dumb, they freely give it to him.
Just don't let this guy know you gave up money..
He'll write a book about you and sell your story
+MOEMUGGY i found humor in that too
+MOEMUGGY Lol! According to the man the book is about, if money is an illusion all the author could get from the book is an illusion. I say pick your illusions carefully.
And do a free blog on the free internet with free wifi.
Lol. Oh the irony of it all.
I'm thinking about leaving as well.
I don't want to live in this shit anymore.
quit money, live in a cave, write book and sell book for money.
genius.
Railey Matique He is not the one writing the book.
Railey Matique still cost money to develop a book and sell it. Papers, glue , ink and printer are not free...
You a genius with zero GPA in common sense sister
I would give this guy more credit if he actually hunted and made his own garden rather than leeching off on other peoples' charities and trash for life's basics. :/ Indirectly, he still lives through the consumer society and hasn't yet made full transition to living like a true tribal person.
Yusiley Sierra agree with you!
He is still dependent on the consumer society and has no will to be self sufficient as he is salvaging leftovers and roadkills. There are many people who quit money and moved out to start their off-grid self sustaining green and livestock farms, this is the only way to quit money and live with dignity.
He might learn that over time, we don't know. at least he's trying more than most people even attempt to. you've got to start somewhere. Also, he might be avoiding the garden because if he planted on the land they might arrest him for it, it could be he's trying to live as well as he can without running afoul of corrupt laws. In some places, you can be charged for just picking a flower in the wilderness.
My thoughts exactly while viewing the video. The very shirt on his back wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for consumerism. So therefore, by his own logic, he has no business wearing it. He should toss his bike, cooking pots, glasses, bedsheets and all other economically derived material possessions. Do not accept discarded food or handouts as they too are products of the economy. Cut through the new age propaganda, he’s simply a homeless person eschewing reality for the sake of a parasitic lifestyle.
agreed you gotta have real skills in the wild. being a survivalist is not easy at all, an people skills still dont always make it
@@LadyBeritanavatarius you have completely read my mind of what i was going to say.. brave you are..
Many will perhaps look back after the coming monitary crash and wish they had a nice cave, no property taxes and a food storeage and knowledge. Being able to really take care of ourselves and help our neighbors.
Wonderful. Thank you for bringing this to us.
"Desert is where religion is born"? So it is a symptom of heatstroke or dehydration?
Assuming the desert MUST bring dehydration...yet here in lays the problem, as deserts do not REQUIRE dehydration, just they CAN encourage it, without source of water dug from the ground under a dried river bed or from without the body of a cactus or rich prickly pear plant.
lol, I enjoy seeing the witty ones comment the most. The same thing stuck out in my mind.
“What calamity is greater than no contentment,
and what flaw greater than the passion for gain.”

I hope so much people open there eyes and live like this guy
Well, i am a little peeved right now, i was just robbed again. I look back and tried to count all the times i have been robbed, my truck stolen ,all my tools taken off my job twice. I came to a total of more than 15 times, but the government is even worse and i will not even comment on the powers behind that. so i really am agreeing with much of what was said.
It really is sad that so many steal through the tricky banking system. most people are not able to trace the problems to that, but it truly is one of the root problems.
There is so much land, some places you can see for 100 miles with no one . no buildings, but we pack ourselves together like sardines according to the bankers wishes. They do not want us to be self reliant and roving on the land. I glad to see this guy is doing it.
more power to this man
Yeah fuck the system, we need more people like this.
Yes I am going for it already with my nomadic lifestyle.
i sit here watching this confined in my aunts house. im graduating early as a senior and dropping off of the map. i want to live and not get told how and what to do that by.
right on dude. I wish there was more of us
Easy to do when you don't have wife and family.
He is the champion of the USA... I live in Fargo N.D. and believe me I live like a hippie ...easy life ,,, eating in shelters... i have a very small apartment ...a little work to pay the rent $ 300.-... But a have time to develop my guitar training play... voice.. piano... read the Bible... English.. Daniel i love my brother!
I'm growing kale, spinach, lettuce, watermelon, beets, turnip, cilantro in my bachelor apartment, with just a window and some soil. I just started two months ago and my sprouts are huge and growing great. I'm about to give up buying groceries- once all the food I like to eat is growing around me. So far so good :)
Wow, to each his own, everybody has their own journey, even GPS provides several alternate routes.
To those saying "those things cost money at some point! He's just bumming!" or whatever, you realize that those things originally came from the Earth and cost NOTHING, right? The Earth creates enough to provide for all of us. He only is taking things that are wasted, but if there was no money and no bins to dive, he'd still be taking from the Earth. Many people live moneyless and refuse to take from anything that ever cost money -- including waste and gifts from others. They live off the land. And the land has enough to support everyone. Just because a select few hoard food and resources and force you to slave for money in order to have things you need doesn't mean the resources themselves are scarce. The scarcity is artificial. If they were scarce, there wouldn't be waste for people like Mr. Suelo to be digging through. Grocery store shelves would be empty and some people would just be out of luck. There is abundance. Look around you. There's more to buy than people to buy it. That's why we throw it out. If no one used money or worked for money, that stuff wouldn't go away. Just the illusion of its scarcity.
You really need to read Wealth of Nations. You don't seem to understand the concept of adding value, or work. Or rising cost adding to the price, which you seem to call "scarcity"
I don't want to wander around in a forest trying to find an onion because I want to make spaghetti, let alone the other 15 or so ingredients. Other people have already done the work for me. They have done it more efficiently and better than I ever could have. That service has a value.
fishblades That "value" is a social construct. It is not intrensic. The value only exists because someone said it existed, and other people believed that. It's not quanitfiable outside of this construct. It cannot be measured physically. It is completely imaginary. Certainly, as long as people agree upon its value, it can work as a system, but that doesn't mean that this "value" is somehow definite or intrensic. I understand the rules and qualities of money and money economies -- but to think it's the only type of economy that can exist and is somehow natural and unchangable is absurd.
fishblades Society would live and thrive if there would not be parasitic elite making people life more miserable every day. Capitalism would never fail if everyone played honestly. In real capitalism there would be very very fierce competition to provide best product and the price would go down. Projects such as kickstarter helps to fund some capitalistic ideas out there completely by public. It adds value. However, nothing will change in the world until people drop the shackles and start leading themselves. Firsly, one should 'come clean': examine who you are banking with, where do you buy food and whether these companies are benefiting humanity or are they in bed with elite guys. Then adjust your habits accordingly. Would you bank with HSBS who launder drug money? I wouldn't. I try to shop in local markets for my fruits, veggies and usually pay cash. I don't buy from amazon because it is cheaper. Instead, I pay 2 bucks more for mom and pop business and contribute towards true value. The man in the video shows an example of courage and freeing your mind from all propaganda you are fed. So, value is created everywhere but you must consider who will benefit humanity and who is destroying it.
Markets would never collapse if people would take back the control. So one mind at a time. Even if you pay more for your groceries or electronics in local business do it. Don't feed the corporation that drains you and your fellow citizens.
This guy sounds like my younger brother. He too lives in caves but only because he won't pay child support and has arrest warrants because of it. He too will not work because the states he owes garnish his wages. He too doesn't drive but only because the state has taken his Driver's License due to the fact he won't pay Child Support. Someone needs to write a book about his life!
K Simpson i think you just did
K Simpson I refuse to pay child support in the title IV-D handbook that is the child support act created by the government it says it is a voluntary program that they violate by saying it's a law when in fact it's a voluntary program, the thing is states like to say it's a law and enforce it because they get $63 for every $1 they collect from me from the government for their social service programs. Title 4-D says I have to enter into the contract willingly it also says that no one can profit when working with child support decisions. Most people have never read the handbook and are ignorant to their rights when I went to court for child support I didn't sign anything I told the judge to go to f--king hell, I said I had a child to raise a child not to pay some unfaithful whore my money, I also told him my daughter when done with school with her mother will come live with me and repeat every grade of school from k-12 so I get my parenting time or she will have no future in this world. I have told child support agents who send me notices their addresses and how many kids they have their husbands names they question how I found this out I tell them it doesn't matter f with me and I will do the same. Needless to say they are scared of me they know I know how to make poisons, explosives like HMTD, they know I have a military background and all this scares the hell out of them, my ex wife's attorney is even scared of me he knows I'm coming for him the judge is scared of me also, police are scared I have my house ridged to electrify them if they touch my door 220v through a transformer to 480v, my vehicle is rigged with a pressurized tank to shoot napalm (flame thrower) police do not bother me. Make them know you can eliminate them at any time and they leave you alone.
I'll not pass judgment on the guy simply because, none of us know what led to the events in his life. I'll say this much, though: The courts are biased and sexist against men and that's a fact that can never be disputed. Another indisputable fact, is that there is zero accountability on what the mother does with funds she receives from child support.
there should be some sort of fund that funnels the financial resources into the childs development only in order to prevent a parent from taking advantage of the funds. i don't know, like a gym pass to a martial arts school or dance school, or a tuition of some sort to an art or technical school of his/her choice. something. two people bring life into this fucking world, they better both be active participants in the rearing of that child directly or indirectly. or stop having fucking accidents. selfish fuckers.
Your brother is not alone. It's only a matter of time and these guys will fight back. The American government is starting a war with their own citizens and men aren't just going to keep going along with having their children kidnapped and being forced to pay and not even get to have their own kids. Thats the point where most men don't have anything else to live for anyway and are willing to give their lives to fight. I certainly wouldn’t be working if they could take my money from my check and if they put out a warrant I would prepare for war! If they were going to keep locking me up anyway they wouldn't take me alive and I would take out as many that tried to catch me as I could until I was dead even if I had to strap a bomb to myself. They already took my kids and then they're going to take my money and my freedom? Fuck that! Thats a call to war for me! Give me my freedom or give me death!
People don't realize how right he is.
Great man, idea is also competitive, just one thing - what to do when you are or will be sick?? How to solve that problem when you are "living without money"
Great philosophy... let's all sit by the road and wait for the dead squirrels... problem is, who's gonna drive the truck?
I believe there is a difference between "giving up money" and "giving up earning my own money". While this man's life looks (almost) romantic, back-to-basics life, the fact is that we cannot go back to that extent. He is dependent on other people's money. I do admire him for actually doing what he believed in, though.
awesome!
Exactly.
I disappear into the wilderness all of the time. I do everything from making my own stone tools, foraging plants, berries, and nuts for food and medicines. I hunt using a bow I made myself, made from Black Locust, and strung using the fibers from a Yucca plant. I use EVERY part of the animals that I kill, to respect them(For example, I made gloves from a rabbit.)
I even make paints and pottery. Going into the wilderness like this sure opens your eyes.
Money is the tokens rich people give out to make everyone have to play their game, their way. If you are lucky you can turn the tables and get ahead and become one of those rich people, but the odds are most will not, and many will be killed or enslaved in some way by this inhuman system. I couldn't live like this, but I think this guy has courage and in his own way is taking life on his own terms ... which is more than most of the slaves to our system do.
Well said, "money is the token of the rich". Add "laws are the weapons of the rich" and you have summed up the whole system of modern slavery (less obvious and less physical, yet still soul breaking slavery) and "rick" is less than 5% of the population...perhaps much much less.....
A man who showed us we don't need money to survive! That guy is awesome! He might be a hipster but he's awesome!
Such a great book and Mark is one heck of a great guy, met him about 1 1/2 years ago
Is there a GoFundMe page for this guy ???

life is strange , my body has let me down , my mind still wants to do so many things ,, my physical pain causes me stress and sadness and this is what brings my mind down ,, on the days when the pain is not to bad my mind feels good and wants to keep trying , on the bad days my mind just wants to lay around and hope tomorrow never comes
i wish i could give up money ,, money is the only thing that is keeping me alive at the moment ,, its strange ,, between a rock and a hard place and money is the main factor that gives me another day to suffer
i need to correct myself ,, i do not wish i could give up money , i wish i could have millions and millions ,, ,, i only want to live like they live as a result of not having the money required to live like i really want ,, we all try to fool ourselves in our wants due to the fact that we all cannot have what we want ,, some are lucky and get a great life till their death

Much love bro.
I have been looking at bicycle campers, I started with tiny homes, now I like the bike camper that can also float in canals.
I love the idea of dropping out of society, but this guy leaches off everyone else. I would really admire him if he grew his own food at least. I don't expect him to make his own clothes or anything, not everyone can, but at least do something for yourself. Then maybe you could trade something for what you need.
+Issac Newton he's not leaching. people give freely.
rusda2 He's a leach. If he did something useful to help himself, I would see it different. I do not like the evil of money, but he could raise a garden, and trade for other things. Find a free sewing machine, and make his own cloths. Trade a little labor for food. Anything! He's a lazy bum. He contributes nothing to the world.
Issac Newton your entitled to your opinion. but tell me, do you accept any type of goverment assistence program? anything at all? if so that is leaching according to your own definition.
+rusda2 no, I have never excepted any type of government assistance. But even if I did have to get a little help, if things got tough for short period, I've worked hard for over 35 years. I would consider that small amount of assistance just to be a return on the tens of thousands of dollars that I've paid in taxes. It was my money that I worked for in the first place.
Issac Newton and how many years did this guy work before he dropped out leaving all those benefits for others like yourself to leach off his labor and taxes in 'tough times'??? it was his money that he worked for in the first place.
receiving gifts from willing people is not leaching....but if you believe it is then dont accept any more christmas or birthday gifts.
why are there so many hate comments
Because (in short) people are dickwads.
Money is NOT evil. But the men who are CURRENTLY in control of it, ARE.
I think this man has had a true calling . I think he has felt unconditional love and has realised that if we as the human race carry on living the way we r, or the way we r socially programed to do, the earth will die !!! he obviously cant live that way any more and looks to me like he is taking a stand for humanity and mother earth . I hope one day we all , the human race will be living with his values and consciousness . I pray that one day we can all live in harmony with each other and earth . if every one stopped worrying, and fighting about who created the earth, then together as humans we could maybe start fixing the earth . peace !!!
If you have to resort to digging out of dumpsters then you have no life at all. This man chooses to live the life of a bum, and he still has to depend upon others to throw the right food trash away for him to eat because he's afraid of work, and that's all there is to it, plus he has to take money hand outs from others to survive. Having no place to bathe other then Public Facilities or a stream is no freedom at all,, this man has created a bondage unto himself. Life is full of responsibilities and it doesn't matter what kind of life you choose to live, you still have to do something to get something in return. This man has to get up and go search through dumpsters so he can survive, the same goes for the working man he has to get up every morning to receive something in return or he will not survive.. This man has some mental issues going on upstairs and Lying Spirit whispering in his ear
t
storysuicide666 That's nice! Do you feel better now? Hold on a minute while I get the Violin out and play a tune for you.. For your information there buddy I would also give this man a handout, and I just bet he would gladly receive it from me..
He still needs that filthy money to survive along with the filthy money that provided him with all that nutritious dumpster food..
No body is making him eat out of that dumpster it's his own free will to do so. That's what happens to you when you refuse to believe in a God to provide.. Filthy corporations you call them.. The only reason they picked up and left in the first place is Politicians gave them that right away to do so.. The rich is what places politicians into office, they've also given themselves exemption to know inside trading secretes where Martha Stewart went to jail for.. Judges for example most likely receive information from their politician friends to know where to invest. These same judges put people behind bars for the very same thing that they are guilty of themselves.. Corruption is every where my friend.. In the US. The rich politicians start with the Democrats then trickles down to the Republicans. Their Goal is to let the rich become richer and the middle class to become poorer, what they call equality.. I call it manipulation at it's best
I think morality, ethics, religion and social responsibility are incredibly inconvenient for the few who lack human compassion, but maintain the illusion that money and materialism can provide an "upper class". Don't judge someone because you don't understand the way they think - it's no different than racism. Led by ignorance, selfishness, lack of compassion, fuelled by greed and lack of respect for human equality and human rights - MY RICHES.
Butwhy Doesitmatter
I'm not going to get in a debate over this man. He has chosen his way of life, it's called freewill. No body made him the way that he is, he has made himself the way that he is.. He has chosen to dig through garbage cans and at times beg for a hand out if need be to survive..
That isn't life at all that is bondage.. Sure people like me would give him a helping hand in a moment but that doesn't change the fact that the man is in bondage unto himself.. Every time that he digs out of a dumpster for food he's inviting death or disease. That is not life at all that is called foolishness. Proverbs 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
It may not be freedom to you, but it may be freedom to him. We are so used to an overabundance of materialism in our lives today, that many find the idea of giving up everything to live in the flow of universal abundance signs of a mental issue. personally, I find the opposite to be true.
US total debt is almost 59.5 trillion, Bush pushed for a debt ceiling when we hit 50 trillion so it would appear to citizens we actually owe less! That debt ceiling is 17.7 trillion!
Not sure where you got your figures but the debt was never that high, three years later it just broke 20 trillion. Typical uninformed regressive blaming Bush.
BillXCIII The national debt is owed to the Rothschild family. They are the PRIVATE entity that owns the federal reserve and loans money to our government. They loan money to every government on Earth, minus 3: North Korea, Iran, Cuba. That list used to include many other nations... but they were proclaimed terrorists and forced to start borrowing. They are behind every war and every law that takes your rights. Personally, I believe the national debt has been paid back 100 times with the innocent lives of all the soldiers who died.
The vast majority of 'unfunded obligations' will become funded. Congress only funds things very shortly into the future and it's set up that way on purpose. We do budget things further into the future but the actual Congressional Budget passed every year is when the check book is actually taken out to literally fund the budget. But not all will be funded. Or, not all will be *able* to be funded, and that is where the debt comes from. But that 'unfunded obligations' number is not just the number that will some point be added to the debt.
There are so many misconceptions about the federal debt, I've heard them all. The US, or US citizens if you prefer to think of it that way, are their own largest holders of their debt through a process called quantitative easing.
The benefit is that there obviously is no interest on such 'loans' and really it's not a loan at all. it's the printing of money along with specific monetary policies (low interest rates to flood investment into the economy) Eventually, interest rates will be raised and the money that's put back into the Fed by it's reserve banks will be used to deflate the currency. It will actually be beneficial to the average American in a way, with real wages increasing without actually increasing the amount of $'s they're being paid, but the economy itself will slow down.
Another part is who's to blame and what is actually happening. Though 95% of Americans will blame either Bush or Obama, reallly it's Reagan and Clinton with their deregulations that set the 2008 housing crisis into motion. At first it was Enron, then Exxon, then the Lehman Brothers then Fannie and Freddie then came Dodd-Frank. The Iraq war didn't help, but that was just shitty timing.
The US federal budget deficit (basically the amount that goes unfunded every year and into the debt) rose drastically the last few years under Bush to a total of $1.6 trillion in 2008-09. Under Obama, it lowered every single year to about $600 billion in it's last. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, some progress is being made. but it'll get harder with Baby Boomers aging. And now Millenials are being forced to pay for something, SOcial Security, that we probably won't get. And Millenials are now America's most populous generation, beating out the Baby Boomers at about 90 million total. So we're going to have to figure out something for the next generation after finally taking over from the Boomers who haven't seen to do much good for America and don't really seem to care what's left over for their own children, let alone leave us with a plan.
Samuel Rs LOL The national debt is owed to the Rothschild family. They own majority ownership of the Federal Reserve, a private bank. They loan money to every government on Earth except 3: North Korea, Iran, Cuba. They caused and funded both sides of every war for the past couple hundred years. Now get the fuck outta here, shill. YOU ARE TAXED TO SECURE THIS LOAN, GENIUS.
Cool...love it!
What's up with the music ? It makes it hard to hear.
I really like what he's doing, but everyone cannot do this by "freely giving and receiving". Sure it will work for single transaction type trades, and that's great. But how will the big things get done? Things that take many transactions before it's finished, i.e. building roads and bridges, vehicles. There is no way to support the population of the earth or have the lifestyle we all enjoy without money.
God bless you! Jesus loves you!
Ty Brady The idea that everyone can do anything is rather bizarre and extremely unhealthy taken the wrong way - but reality is that everyone can take a lesson from Daniel and reject the idea that money is a secure means to secure your future and that investing money in thing that require more money destroys the ability to give and receive freely, humanely. Most of what we get we don't need - most of what we need, we don't get.
sexxytrophy I don't know what makes that "obvious" but no he got no welfare or any other government assistance.
Money is not the problem.
The lack of money is the problem. As well as the lack of education about money. And what money is, and does. The way I see it, it is a tool. Like a hammer. Use it creatively, money is a "everything in 1" tool.
Money is not THE most important thing, next to air. It is still free to breath air...Unless u r underwater.
jacky Leung actually, not really it isn't. Not since Carbon Trading began. Veritably, that's a tax on fresh air.
+jacky Leung Wrong! YOU are the tool.
I am a tool and you are a fool. FOOL!
+jacky Leung Sorry I didn't mean it that way. What I mean is that we as individuals are actually the tools or instruments that go about performing the various tasks that maintain the machine.
Right right... that I agree. Very well put...
Quite Inspiring! Don't think i would want his life. But he makes some good points. God Bless you Daniel!
I think if money was not there, then we would go either to a resource based economy (which would have to coordinate production with population so supply can meet demand and to reduce shortages). or bartering if there was no resource based economy (that could meet demand with supply).
Dear Editor:
Have you read the book, The Man Who Quit Money? I have. It was written by a man from Missoula, Montana, Mark Sundeen. In TMWQM, Mark Sundeen writes about Daniel Suelo who, supposedly, lives in a cave outside of Moab, Utah, without any income at all, using no money, of his own freewill, and survives! This is far from the truth. Daniel often goes to the public library in Moab to use the Internet. Daniel often hitches rides here and there using the public road and a Good Samaritan’s fuel. However, Daniel does not consider these activities as using money, even though he is consuming a public goods (library computer and Internet) and private goods (the Good Samaritan’s car and fuel.) Daniel Suelo has some mumbo-jumbo philosophy that allows him to consume all public goods and any private goods from “friends” as long as he accepts with gratitude. Let me make this clear: In Daniel Suelo’s mind, all the people in the world can live freely, as long as we give to one another and accept with gratitude. What a bunch of malarkey! If a person uses a public good (a road, the library, attending a museum, whatever), then that person is using money. This isn’t up for debate. Yes, the money is tax-payers’ money so the money is being consumed indirectly, in the form of taxes, but money is being consumed nonetheless. And, anyone who accepts “gifts” from others (private goods from “friends”) is still CONSUMING, even if he or she accepts with gratitude. Daniel Suelo cannot see these truths. Daniel Suelo still insists he uses no money. Thus, Daniel Suelo is delusional. Also, Daniel Suelo often “house sits” for friendly supporters, using their home, sleeping in their beds and eating their food while his supporters are elsewhere. But, according to Daniel, he is not using any money. Remember, this consumption is allowed, as long as he accepts with gratitude. Suelo’s delusional mind should be clear to rational people. What is terrible and very troubling is that Daniel Suelo, along with the help of writer Mark Sundeen, is spreading this delusional malarkey to other people. In effect, Daniel Suelo and Mark Sundeen are lying to these people, enticing these innocent and gullible individuals to give up the striving of life, to leave the money system, to live like the great one, Daniel Suelo, the prophet, free of money. This is disgusting. Daniel Suelo is an egomaniac perpetrating his myth into weak and impressionable people, not only in the USA but around the world. Why? Why do you think? To get a following. Once on his Facebook page, Daniel Suelo said that he remembers when he was five years old, standing in his crib, holding onto the bars. There, in that moment, he had a vision, a vision that said he was going to be a LEADER OF A MOVEMENT. Ha! I am not making this stuff up. It is there. Go to his FB page and research it. You might have to go back some time, circa spring 2013. Anyway, really, who sees such visions at five years old? Budding egomaniacs; that’s who, maybe a David Koresh. In writing his sympathetic biography of Daniel Suelo, TMWQM, Mark Sundeen has not only endorsed Daniel Suelo’s lies but romanticized his lifestyle and encouraged others to attempt to live thus, to attempt to live free of money. The writer Mark Sundeen knew and associated with Daniel Suelo BEFORE the writing of his book, TMWQM. This leads one to believe that Mark Sundeen knew good and well that Suelo’s ideas would be appealing to many, and this appeal would make Mark Sundeen much money. How ironic?!!! Mark Sundeed writes a book about a prophet who lives his life without money in order to make money for himself!! Now, I am not some Ayn Rand, selfish tea-bagger. I have been a lifelong liberal and understand the incredibly difficult path to becoming financially secure in this life. Even in today’s modern world, equality and opportunity are still myths. One’s birth is the greatest indicator of financial success, a greater indicator than ambition or even IQ. Nearly half of the world’s population lives on less than two dollars a day. About 40 percent of the USA population lives from one paycheck to the other. Considering these dismal truths, I would love for a human being to be able to live without money, to live in a beautiful utopian world, to live as John Lennon once sang in his song IMAGINE: nothing to kill of die for, with no heaven above us, no hell below, no possessions, in a brotherhood of man. Ha! Yea, John Lennon was a dreamer, beautiful, but a dreamer nonetheless. That life is just not going to happen. Even in the old Soviet Union the idea was not to live completely without money. Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky were not that stupid, so stupid to try to pull such a ridiculous idea over the heads of the people. Can you imagine Vladimir Lenin saying: “We can live free! Using no money!” The people would not have been deceived. So, Lenin and Trotsky told a partial live. “We can live equal!” This partial lie didn’t turn out too well, even though North Korea and Cuba (not China) are still continuing with such pretense. The world is rough, and this rough world is established on money. Money is the proof that we are physical beings. Money is proof that our existence is not only spiritual, as the prophet Daniel Suelo would like to convince people, people whom he hopes will become his new disciples. Once again, let me be very clear: An utopian society of life-without-money is complete BULLSH@#. There will never be a way to live COMPLETELY without money. If you use public goods, then you are using money indirectly. If you “house sit,” you are using someone else’s money. Sure, there are minimalist, people who choose to live with the bare essentials, (remember Henry David Thoreau), and there are people who just glean off of society, people whom John Lenin’s buddy, Paul McCartney, might have been referring to when Paul sang: got a good reason, for taking the easy way out… These people don’t bother me, either one, the minimalist or the person who has sort of just checked out. I understand they are fed up with the money system. However, do not lie to me and say you live with NO MONEY! In his book TMWQM, author Mark Sundeen did not ask any real difficult questions to Daniel Suelo. Sundeen was definitely not working as an objective journalist or and objective biographer. Remember, Daniel Suelo and Mark Sundeen have known each other for many years. They were friends before this book was written! Such a friendship automatically produces a biased book, a biased book in favor of Daniel Suelo’s mythical life. Sundeen’s angle was clear. He wanted to romanticize Daniel Suelo as much as he could in order to sell books. Someone in the Missoula community needs to contact Mr. Sundeen and ask him a simple question: “Do you really believe that Daniel Suelo is living without any money?” If Mark Sundeen says, yes, then Mark Sundeen is a liar. If Mark Sundeen says, no, then Mark Sundeen is knowingly glorifying a charlatan, a charlatan who is seducing young people from around the county into a fake life, a life that cannot be lived, a life where one day the convert will wake up and ask: “Why have I been wasting my life?” Of course, the prophet Daniel Suelo would say, “You are not wasting your life, you are living your life freely.” Yea, you are living your life “freely” if you can find some “friends” who will let you “house sit” during the winter months like the great guru, Daniel Suelo, does. People, do not be deceived! Do not join Daniel Seulo’s, Moneyless Tribe, his group of disciples who, day by day, are becoming just as delusional as their leader, accepting his indoctrination. The Moneyless Tribe is Daniel Suelo’s cult. Daniel Suelo’s Moneyless Tribe is not like Occupy Wall Street which was trying to bring attention to outrageous CEO pay and the corruption in the banking system. No, Daniel Suelo’s Moneyless Tribe just wants to live outside of the system, the system of money. There is a problem, NO ONE can exists COMPLETELY outside the system of money. Daniel Suelo is really a Freegan, a person who does not want to live in our consumerism society, a person who wants to glean off of the leftovers, the kind of person Beatle Paul McCartney sung about. This is fine with me. Just tell the truth. Stop with your malarkey. Stop with your lies.

Get over it.
If when Daniel dies, he lies down in his cave and his body decomposes into ashes, then I am wrong. However, this will not happen. A lavish funeral that cost thousands of dollars will be purchased by his friends. This is my prophesy. Then and only then, at this lavish funeral will Suelo's hypocrisy be understood.
Seriously it has no effect on either of our lives - get over it,
***** It is not about "our lives." It is about the truth. You see behavior only as it affects you. Get over your ego.
Dimitry Raskolnikov Dimitry you're full of crap. It's not about me it's about the individual - you probably wouldn't understand.
People keep looking at the whole issue at too much of a complex perspective. It essentially comes down to one thing. Food and water. You have to work for those two resources regardless or you die. The monetary system was originally set up to make the transfer of goods and services simpler and easier. Instead of carrying 2 chickens under each arm to barter with, you have that $20 bill in the wallet. Yes people have abused and corrupted this system but money or not, the game has ALWAYS been about obtaining resources...
Faith is...
+Jaysann22 Wrong! Your greatest resource is your vital energy, your heartbeat, your time. It is the only thing that is really of any value. Unfortunately most of us give these precious gifts up for nothing other than another dream!
Clearly you've never intentionally lived as part of a community.
Right, thanks.
I want to join him, but how good is cell phone reception in the caves? Gotta have some entertainment
Is he willing to die if he gets hurt or sick? Will he beg for help before he dies? I notice he doesn't smile on the film, is that because his teeth are rotten from not brushing them? He hasn't figured out how to make tooth past from dirt yet?
So ignorant.
I admire this guy, I wanna do the same thing..
i would never do the road kill thing. you can have it all, i like to kill what im going to eat myself.
thank you
2018 now, how's he doing now?
SO! in other words "he is a bum" and you wrote a book for money.
Aimee Frost Wrong son I'm not writing a book here! So eat me!!
Aimee Frost OK! OK! BITCH THEN!!!
Aimee Frost learn this! FUCK YOU!!
Aimee Frost Wrong! your just not getting the answers your looking for out of me and it is just pissing you off. Now move on!
+Aimee Frost "Held back?" Well that education you have would have been impossible without capitalism. Unless you wanted some Marxist, Communist propaganda education on communal farming.
This is a complete crock and a cop-out. I would be the first to agree that the money system is screwed, but this guy totally depends on others going to work and doing their jobs so he can pick up the leftovers. If we all lived like him, we would starve. Idealistic self-aggrandizing bullshit.
If we all lived like him, everything would be free. We would work just to feed ourselves and others. Growing and using only what we need so nothing is wasted. Money would become obsolete and we would just trade items and services. No taxes, no loans, no debt.
Everything would be free?? There would be NOTHING! Who made the clothes he wears? The bike he rides? The plastic sheet he sleeps on? People who work and make stuff. He doesn't grow his own food. He doesn't make anything. He depends on others NOT doing what he does. What a charlatan.
+PDZ1122 Did Native Americans have a monetary system? No. You don't need money to make products.
He is not living like a native. He's living off the leftovers from the system he so despises. He is not hunting buffalo or raising maize or making his own clothes. Don't you get it?
+PDZ1122 he is taking what nobody wants. He is scavenging just like native peoples. If people had a problem with what he is doing, they wouldn't help him. He is using what is around him and what would have been thrown away.
This author made the comment, "he's not sitting on a hill getting enlightened", as if that would have been a bad thing. Lol.
And what does he do in Winter? What does he do when he is ill or injured?
So.....he's a bum. WOW. Amaaaaazing
To live and survive in the wildness is harder then working a 9 to 5 job, I bet all the money in the world you could not do it.
Daniel Wright OH PLEASE!
mrstuperstefan what I bet you wouldn't make it a week.
Kobra Bryson Camping? I've been camping longer.
As far as being a homeless bum. You are right. My PRIDE does not allow me to be seen digging through other peoples garbage.
Shame on me?? I fucking hope so.
Daniel Wright He does not live in the wilderness. He eats other peoples garbage! I see guys like him EVERY DAY. They are called HOMELESS ALCOHOLICS.
He's just a dirty hippy. It's been done
First of all he is tresspassing on national lands overstaying his 15 day limit per year. Second he can get a job and be a contributor to the system and still be a penny penching freeloader. This man is just too lazy to work and glorifying his self abusive behavoiur is a shame.
Chris W. ''...15 day limit..." That's corporate fiction. You are programmed to think in certain way. Think independently and outside of the box. Read more about Natural Law..., the source of almost all laws.
Fifteen day per year limit? You really are an idiot if you believe that. I spend five times that much, perfectly legally. I could stay out there year round. And how can we trespass on something we own? You're the useless toad, teh fool, not him, and when you die the only difference you'll make in teh world was how much stuff you consumed.
Abe Gubegna That is the law argue against all you wish. The purpose of this law is to prevent folks like in the video from monopolizing "the peoples" land. Other folks may wish to experience living in that cave alone as well.
James Ritchie Your the idiot for takeing risks that will end you up in jail. True "the people" own the land, however it is this "the people" who have elected to preserve the land and fairly distribute access to it and manage it in a way that maintains it's beauty for all generations. By violating these agreed upon rules and not contributing to the costs of maintaining them it is you that has become the useless toad and the one consumeing it all for yourself.
Chris W. Honestly is this the way the american people think i hope not i hope that you're just another brainless zombie trapped in the vicious system
Thank you... I couldn't agree more.
Why don't most here see this???
🚨That's no big deal I live in an apartment and eat roadkill everyday😒 it's called McDonald's😈 Burger King Wendy's......😵🚨
I wonder if he will sell his book:)
"If your house is worth 500,000 and next year it is worth 300,000, what happened to that 200,000?" facepalm... someone dropped out of junior high school...
So if everyone did this, no super markets to get free food, friends wouldn't have spare food, no one to breed livestock, no massive farms for millions of crops, everyone living of the land! That one fruit bush is going to be big! People live like this every day and we send millions and millions of pounds to help them to dig Wells and grow crops, 3 world living
I wrote this book about quitting money, now give me money for it! Imagine if everyone was homeless! That would be awesome!
Man, this is greatness.
And in one shot he's using a public library computer, obviously paid for by others' tax money. Way to go.
Does he get internet & phone for free to be able to blog?
What did he do in the winter? It's freezing in the desert during the winter.
Reading about hobos from Jack London or George Orwell, seems there was a class of hobo who had rejected being a rat on the wheel in a factory for the 19th century Industrial Revolution. London even wrote a short story on a case of a man who had a nervous break-down from factory life. Life was more difficult in some ways on the road but at the end of the day, they had more freedom and peace of mind as individuals. How did we end up in the same boat a century later?Yet in the modern world.
Indoctrination
sooooooo agree!!!! ur so right!!!!
He lives in my state shout out to this local legend
he's not promoting self sufficiency. he's promoting generosity. if people stop giving, then he would still make it. read his blog and you'll see
Good luck to him and his new life without control
i feel the same .break free from this prison of this world
very cool I thought about doing the same thing many times
WOW Daniel you amaze me God bless you brother...!!!
great video, thanks for sharing this, his statement is required for what is coming for mankind
How does he deal with health problems without money?
The answer is people are not the same belief in life.
I think what he is doing is worth a book but when the author says if everyone lived like him the world would last longer it makes no sense. First off, he receives plenty of handouts and he scavenged from working society. If everyone stopped working then there would be no more dumpsters to dive into.
i look at that and feel the same way
