5 months with the ATAK on my 2018 3.5 eco. Sounds awesome. Drove 1400 miles on a hunting trip and the in cab noise was not annoying at all. I find myself rolling down the windows just to hear it. It's much much louder in the back and outside. The rear passenger did say that it's much more noticeable riding in the back. Overall very happy. I've yet to hear a 3.5 audio that does this system justice. Looking forward to deletes for the cats so I can really hear the turbos. There's a slight turbo noise now, but nothing like getting the cats off.
Nicely done video! The only addition I can think of that would be nice to hear is a "cruising at 65 mph" comparison. That is my biggest concern when buying an exhaust. I had the deepest and best sounding exhaust I could find on my Civic Si many years ago, but at 65-70 mph it droned and was too loud to talk on the phone so I took it off after just 3 months and went back to stock.
I guess I'm on the only one who thinks the touring sounds the best. Everything else sounds kinda rice! I had a borla XS on my v6 klze and it sounded amazing Also had it on an 5.0 just muffler and sounded amazing. I'm gonna go with the touring. It's a pickup truck it doesn't need to sound like a race car! just sounding deep and smooth is all u need!
I've got the ATAK on my 2018. When I get on it, Its embarrassing to these Hondas with shitty exhaust. Yes, it does have a rice sound, but it's not on the same planet as 99% of the guys running around with 6 bangers. Much deeper with a more noticeable turbo sound.

I'm with you too man. The engine on these trucks just doesn't sound that great. So I tend to like the more subtle options that give you the performance but not as much sound. The ATAK does sound pretty good too though for what the truck is working with.

You wont gain more than a couple horsepower at the crank with any exhaust muffler even of they throw the word "performance" in front of it. An important exhaust mod that does net you more power and torque is switching from the stock exhaust manifolds to mid length or long tube headers. And on any turbocharged engine getting a down pipe. Those two mods will increase power and torque at a noticeable level. But a muffler swap and larger diameter piping doesnt really do much but add sound. Now if you have a diesel truck...swapping out the muffler and pipes actually makes a difference. On gas engines...not so much.
Dang...I was hoping I'd like the sound of one of these options. The only thing I don't like about my truck is the engine sound. It's like my old Audi 2.7t when one of the flex pipes broke off.
I ain’t payin any amount of cash to have my 3.5 sound like any of the Borla examples. Nothing helps the sound of a 3.5 and I’m really happy with the engine but they sound horrible.. Mine will stay stock!!
Well you might not have a choice, b/c they'll all be doing it in the future. Ford took the risk and set the precedent. Dodge gave it a go with the Ecodiesel. I'm sure it won't be long before V8s aren't even an option in a half ton pickup. Besides, if you drove one you'd want to get the behind the wheel real quick. If you don't, you'll certainly get behind the Ecoboost; you'll fall way behind staring at the tailgate when those turbos spool up and 470 foot lbs. of torque hits the pavement. I'll never buy a V8 again, and I've had many of them in the last 25 years. I tow quite a bit. The Ecoboost(and mine is 1st gen with the 6 speed tranny)just can't be beat. My 2007 5.4, tuned, piped, with a CAI couldn't even come close to a stock 3.5L Ecoboost in terms of towing and all out performance.
That may be the case, but I've owned many turbo vehicles with proper setups and no matter how good the intercooler will always heatsoak no matter how good it is, and turbos are just another piece to break...and they definitely do break. Where I live its HOT and HUMID for quite a few months and turbo vehicles are great cold but can lose some "nuts" on hot days a lot more so than a v8 or any NA type engine. But you may be right about your prediction. CAFE is very important and V8s will never compare in that aspect to a v6 let alone a diesel. I just wish they put the diesels as the top towing models as they have the most potential. Also Im MOST DEFINITELY not a fan of aluminum beds...
Thaenatos, Ford does not have problems with intercooler overheating or even getting warm. They had problems with condensation for being to cold and now they solved by keeping warmer temperature. As for aluminium trucks, they were designed for winter seasons with heavy snow, only to keep from rotting away. Reduced weight is extra benefit. Plus better gas mileage than V8's.
Own a 17 lariat with the 3.5, in my opinion you should never ever modify the exhaust on these trucks out of there sheer fact it sounds god fucking awful
Could barely tell the difference between OEM and Touring. Then the only difference between Sport and Attack was noise. Exhaust companies are like the dentists of the medical field. Least education, widest variety of acceptable levels of quality and parameters. Does anyone truly believe that a 3” round hole makes an exhaust better? If so, why do Formula race cars, motorcycles and exotic and super car manufacturers have oval exhaust or special bends, truly engineered battle can designs, etc. how about a truly tuned exhaust system made specific for this engine? Not a hodgepodge of off the shelf parts put together in a package designed to be “barely” less restrictive than OEM while the engineers at Borla shrug their shoulders and say, “huh, it worked. Let’s market it.” Show me the CFM flow data from OEM to Borla from the engine at temp through the end pipe. How much back pressure was enough? Where was it too much and a loss of power? Pathetic video trying to make me a Borla believer. This goes for all of the fake engineering idiots making exhaust systems trying to impress with resonating noise.
Save your money, installed one on my 2018 F-150 3.5 eco. And it does not sound anything like these sound clips. Waste of 1000 dollars, sounds like a Honda with a fart can muffler

Good V8 trucks ended in 2010. Then the ecoboost became the most powerful engine. These new 5.0s are modern but these V8 fan boys need to get a real V8 and go with an old 460 or modded 351. Then we're talking.
Sounds better with Borla, but it still sounds like a rice burner. Ecoboost 3.5L V6 is a great engine, but it only outperforms current V8's because it's turbocharged. Put a turbocharger on the V8 to make things fair and it's no contest. V8's still rule. :-)
Factory engine vs factory engine, ecoboost rapes the factory v8 and when you put a 700 dollar tune on the ecoboost, it rapes the v8 even more. You'd have to pour 8 grand into the v8 for it to start beating the 700 dollar tuned ecoboostot

Plus, after warranty has expired what if things do go wrong with all those complex turbo parts that it has compared to the 5.0, how much is it going to cost to get it fixed correctly? You would also need an Ecoboost expert to get it fixed as opposed to a general mechanic that is already used to fixing all V8 engines. It's a risky engine man. No thanks is what I say. V8's sound better anyway and have plenty of power. It's not like I'm going to be racing my family truck anyway... lol.. But to each their own.

sounds like crap, it's a 6 cyl. there is no way to make that truck sound anything but like a 6.... just tune the engine to get the most out of the turbos, and then done. not to mention the cost for that exhaust system.

sounds like crap, it's a 6 cyl. there is no way to make that truck sound anything but like a 6.... just tune the engine to get the most out of the turbos, and then done. not to mention the cost for that exhaust system.

Hi! I'm afraid we don't have an ATAK Cat-Back for the 2012 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost. We only have an S-Type.
