Removing Paint From a Drum Wrap - Can it be Saved?

This old floor tom was painted over 4 separate times.. hardware and all. Can I remove the paint without destroying the plastic wrap underneath?
STEPS I TOOK
First please please always follow safety directions on products. No drum project is worth jeopardizing your health. For serious.
Drum Shell -
Remove hardware
I used about 3 applications of 3M Safest Stripper, letting each sit for 20min - 2 hours.
I scraped pretty carefully, letting the product do the work.
I then lightly scrubbed the entire shell with a light gauge 3M stripping pad.
More light scrubbing with a dish Dobie and mild soapy water.
Detail work on paint specks.
I used Meguiar's Gold car wax.
HARDWARE -
I let the chrome parts/chrome over brass rims soak for 8 hours in Klean Strip Paint and Varnish Stripper, Zero VOC.
That's it! No special tools, just a bit of work.
