TUTORIAL: How to remove old drumwrap and eyelets / grommets

  • In this tutorial we show you some methods we recommend to remove old eyelets and wraps from drumshells.
    There might be other techniques out there that work, but we think these ones might be helpful to you.
    Please note that the eyelet removal technique with the countersink bit will wear down the drillbit quickly because it scrapes of the metal material.
    Also the scene where the countersink bit is sped up - don't wiggle the drill so quickly!

    What if you spray the wood?

      Thanks for the comment, I am not sure I understand the question: Do you mean if you want to apply spraypaint or lacquer to the shell after the wrap was removed? If you want to do that, you would have to sand the outside of the shell a lot to get rid of all the glue resedue, or peel them off by hand or a piece of leather. It is very hard work that takes a lot of time - putting new veneer on top is way easier.
