You have now taught me how to turn a corner on an overlocker Abi.thank you . My 2 bed caddies for grandchildren worked beautifully , I just secured with Velcro instead of a popper.
What a great project and tips! Serger versus overlocker is just terminology depending on where you live. The US seems to lean to serger while other countries say overlocker. It’s like inches (US) and centimeters (everyone else) 😊. I’m in the US but trying to use centimeters; seems more accurate.
Thank you. This is very easy to do, and you explained it very well. This is a great thing to do with my grandma when I go to her house. Also I subscribed!
Your tutorials are getting me through quarantine 😂 Really good and informative though - I'm glad we get close ups of where to start and stop stitching 😀
Pretty and useful thing. I would have liked to see how i.e. where it can be attached. In Germany we differentiate overlocker and cover lock machine. The latter can also kind of top stitch.
Nice work. Love that fabric. I am not able to understand the dimensions of the cut fabric. I hear 30 cm, but I can't figure out what the other measurements are. Please advise. Many thanks.
I wanted to make a caddy for my phone and iPad along with some other items. Would you suggest making the iPad (mine is older so it’s quite large) pocket with elastic? And if so how would you suggest going about that. The iPad pocket will be the far back pocket. Love this caddy and all your videos. I’ve been watching any and every video that shows how to sew with elastic and elastic pocket videos. All these videos are making me dizzy! And I’m new to sewing 🤣
Oh I see 😂, glad I wasn’t imagining it 🥴. It caught my eye because you used to rest of the fat quarter for a little bag which is a great idea. I want to make them but couldn’t remember the dimensions for cutting the pieces out 🤪
Hi Abi, I love your sewing channel and you have taught me a lot. You are a pleasure to watch.... your personality is so warm, friendly and inviting.... you spread such happiness and I always get excited when you post another video. Please may I ask you, if you have time, about the best weight of Vleseline fabric stabiliser to use for different projects. Best wishes. Jennie viewing from Sheffield. xx
Glad to help Jen. I'm visiting the company's stand soon, and I will ask them for a demo. Let's see what they suggest. There are so many types. It'd be a long video I think... hmmm... Anyway, subscribe and hit that bell to get the notification :
Abi's Den Hi Abi, thank you for letting me know about you visiting the Vieseline store. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as you are able. With many thanks. Take care. Jen. xx
Great tutorial I’m making one for my hard to buy for dad. May I suggest using thinner wadding then it won’t bunch up so much. One of my first patchwork projects my sister got the wadding and it was thick like yours and so hard to use, double sided fusible means you don’t have to pin either. I love the tutorial on the overlocker (I’m from Australia) and a bit scared to use them. Is there a video on how to thread them, I’m ok until you get to the right side of the overlocker. I have now subscribed to your channel. What gadget did you use to make the hole for the snap? Thanks from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
@@lindseyingoldby532 me too my first patchwork class I had a nurse was there and told us always close your rotary cutter too she’s seen many people cut their toes off by knocking it off the table. So always use your ruler and close the cutter every time.
Clare Young thank you Clare. I did but because I had the radio on in the background, it’s listed as contains copyright material. The music company are okay with it but take all the money (a whopping £3.62 😂, people don’t make much money on RUclips as I always thought) but I didn’t like the idea of having that on me. I’ll remake the video but you made me smile. Thank you for your support 🌷😊
hi i’m new here and just starting on my sewing journey can someone please educate me is wadding a necessity in this project? will it still be functional without it?
It will be very floppy without something that will give it substance but yes : it will still be useful. heavy weight interfacing will give it some stability: but as a beginner just get it sewn girl!!! Experience the excitement of making something 🙌🏽🫶🏽💕
Please can you show us how to fit the walking foot to the machine. It looks different to the click on other feet I use. I would like to buy one but it looks scary
Love the detailed tutorial! I appreciate you explaining why you do what you do ( why you topstitch first, why you increase stitch length etc).

“The little pocket is for you to put a little chocolate treat in there, don’t tell anyone.” 🤣
So endearing. :)
“And we’re going to dissect that poor thing there.” 🤣
What a great project and tips!

woo hoo! I loved this tutorial, I put my own twist on it because it wouldn't have working in my space otherwise, but I loved it! Thank you

hi Abi , where do you get the big ruler from thank you
I think it was from Amazon... :-) I have had it a veryyyyyy looooong time x
so handy how can you adapt it for solid beds , i would asume you would have to have a large flat base to slip underneath the mattress ?
Hmm. Let me have a think 💭 I did wonder about weights or a frame.
would be great if you could share written note of the materials used.

I meant to reply but i used pliers from Dritz x Thank you for the tip about thinner wadding too x
I love your tutorials but I wish you’d use a ruler with the rotary cutter. It makes me nervous when you do it freehand. 😢
StitchinTime oh no!!! I’m sorry. I don’t mean to scare you 😮👍🏽I’ll be a bit more aware of this. Thank you for pointing it out 💕
I was thinking the same 😊

I love your accent🥰
Are the measurents for the big piece 30x60 cm?
Hello! Would I be able to swap out the batting with interfacing?
Yes, absolutely, it won’t protect things like smart tablets and phones but it would definitely hold your gadgets well. I love mine
Hi love this tutorial 👍. I may have imagined it but I’m sure you had a tutorial for pattern weights but I can’t find it now??.

Great idea, thank you Abi. Will do great for Mum's Thank you.😘👍 P.S would like to help. Not on facebook tho.
Can I please ask where you got the darker fabric with the badgers? It's gorgeous!

Which cutter do you used ?? Is it pizza cutter ??
This is a rotary cutter specially for fabric.

Overlock......in Germany ;-)
Cute idea but I am unclear as to how you attach it to bed or chair.
