    I just made this, great tutorial! I added a panel to the top, of a piece of non-slip liner (shelf or rug) with edge binding to place between the mattress and springs.

    Made these caddies with three of my grandchildren...one who had never sewn before!
    They had such a fun time. The directions were easy to follow and everyone did great!
    And yes, they can hold very heavy items! ( we tried several) I would have sent a picture
    but there is no way to add an attachment!
    Thanks,
    Juli.

    Careful using Frixion pens -- the ink disappears with heat, but reappears with cool. It's brought a lot of unexpected surprises when travelling with Christmas presents.

    • @chantalhenderson6994

      also with the Frixion - careful use of them is needed as if you laminated it, the writing will disappear.

    As several other people asked, how do you keep it attached to your bed once you add weight to the pockets? There's only about 6 inches of fabric that's tucked between the mattresses from the sounds of it which doesn't seem to be enough length to counteract weight dropped in the pockets.

    • @lorrainelyons4702
      @lorrainelyons4702 4 года назад

      I would go to the Dollar Store and get shelf liner. You should hand sew it on because it will damage your sewing needle.

    • @lesa6399
      @lesa6399 4 года назад

      I’d add fabric, maybe cut a sheet long enough to fit at least half way between mattresses.

    I am new to the sewing/quilting world and I am hoping that you could tell me what the fuse item is called. It's hard to hear what its official name is and I am unable to find what it could be when I type in only "fuse" in my fabric store search.

    Awesome, I want to make this. WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE FUSIBLE BATTING YOU USED? I’m not that familiar with batting so I need to know what it’s called so I can ask for it at my local store.

    • @SewYeah

      Hi! That batting is called Bosal Fusible Batting. I have included a link to that on our website here! Happy sewing! sewyeahquilting.com/products/bosal-325-fusible-batting?_pos=7&_sid=abababd0d&_ss=r

    Great tutorial! But I can't believe that you are ironing on your cutting board! Won't that warp it?

    • @warmandbright6525
      @warmandbright6525 5 лет назад +3

      with the bosal foam that he's ironing on, it's probably thick enough that not a lot of the heat is transferring to the cutting mat. also, it sounds like they're a sewing store, they can just get another one unlike the rest of us ;)

    How do you attach it to your bed, surely it would fall off as soon as you put anything in the pockets. I’m not sure about this one. Also for those pleats as you box the pockets why not measure them.

    The caddy is quite pretty & seemingly useful; but how do you attach it to the bed so the weight of a tablet or heavy book doesn't pull it loose? Thanks.

    • @teresatierney4817

      A flap sits between the mattress and box springs. So the weight of the mattress holds it.

    How would you attach it to the bed .... I think the back would need to be much longer to slip under the mattress & stay in place while getting in & out of bed . I'm talking for a senior with short legs !

      The back of the caddy just slides between the mattresses or between the mattress and the frame. You can make the back wider if you want additional strength. Thanks for watching!

    Hi gents, I've just found your channel. I have to say im really enjoying what I've watched thus far. But, yes sadly there's a but, as a new sewest (relearning everything due to BI, never to old and God's always faithful to restore!) Anyway, what I'd like to bring to your attention is a big deal for newbies. Im not sure if these things are skimmed over do yo toner restraints, that your target audience is only for experienced sewests, or possibly unaware. Because there are a few things ive watched already today and enjoyed. Thinking yes, I need to create these lil gems only to realize much id the detailed info is missing. For example on this vid just one lil nugget was the binding. Firstly, you connected the strips to make ot long enough. Im not sure if it's as simple a setting the ends together or is there a specific way on a diagonal or? Ten in sewing them on you. By the way the up upclose sewing shots are great! Trust when I say, I'm not here to bash or be rude in any manner. I only would like to suggest things that would help newbies and it could actually help your subscribers grow. It's very discouraging to be in the middle of the project and need to stop, go research and return. It doesn't always take a long time to explain certain lil aspects but those few extra minutes can mean the difference between finishing a project or ditching it.. Even giving up. Back to what I was mentioning... the binding being sewn on. Vid was speed up and zipped right past the actual sewing of the curves/ corners. I watched 4 or 5 vids already and darn. There's something in each one I have no idea about so I went to the next fun idea hoping it would be a lil more complete in instruction. Again, just a suggestion to fi a lil more follow through in the details. It's understandable for experienced sewests to wax over some of the details because your "sew" used to doing them. Is really enjoy making the things I've seen thus far but? Oh hey, the blessed bags are a wonderful idea. It's a blessing that keeps on giving! ( could you explain the width..50" by the width. I know silly but when fabric gets cut which do you consider the width. )
    Y'all keep up the fabulous creative fun! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

    You always add extra unnecessary steps. On the pockets, you "stitch and flipped" the front, then ironed on the back and then stitched in the ditch. Had you ironed the back on first, then done your stitch and flip, it would have automatically quilted the back in the same step.
