This video is an excellent tutorial. It's right to the point, clear details and descriptions, and most of all not too much talking. In my opinion a chatty video causes me to quit viewing the video quickly. Again excellent tutorial. I am glad you reviewed the binding procedure even though some people should already know (me, LOL).
This is a good tutorial! Thanks for sharing! Pro tip: before I top Stitch my ties, I open it up, fold the ends inside, and then run my top stitches parallel to each other. Encasing the folded ends inside without the extra lump on the end.
Loved your fabric choice and colors, very useful item. Great job of demonstrating how to make. Was looking for one to make for knitting needles, thanks.
What a great idea for using a panel! Guess who will be making one (or 6) of these! I use 505 spray only because as yet I haven't seen the double sided fusible batting here in Australia. I'll have to do some research on it!!! Another great tutorial, thanks T-Man. Oh forgot to add when making the strips that become the ties if you fold the ends in first then do the triple fold you won't have any raw edges! Just a suggestion!
You could also use mesh for the pocket piece (shown in red floral). That way you can see more of the pretty panel behind it. Or even vinyl, I suppose. Super cute idea!
Thanks for this video; what a great project. I made 5 today. They will be Christmas presents for my Quilting Friends. Nice to have their presents done, and it's only October! I think there is a typo in Step 2. It states "...we marked 1/2" from each center line..." Shouldn't it read .."marked 1 1/2" from each center line.."?
Thanks for this! I'll be making one for sewingnotions for my stitching group Christmas exchange and another for myself, but I'll be using it to hold all my large serving ware that I only use on Thanksgiving.
Kim I get it! it ’s not a traditional full join, on the settings button at the bottom right hand of the video screen click on playback speed and you can see it better without a new video. personally, I would not use this method as it leaves a raw edge. If you are new to bindings, I don’t know but there are plenty of videos on RUclips
Thanks for answering Johnnie! Yes that is correct what he said. We will be more careful to do it slower next time! Thank you for watching! Take Care, Brody & Teancum
I’m a beginner so the answer may be obvious to the more seasoned sewers. At the end I couldn’t understand why you sewed the binding from the back? I watched a couple of times and still don’t get it
It is just because it makes the front look neater. I believe in the 'better finished than perfect' sewing methods, and if you start on the back you will only end up seeing one sewing line on the front binding. No real magic :) If you start with a small project (like a mug rug) you will see the advantage of starting from the back. If you like to hand sew, then sewing the binding starts from the front (I hope that last part didn't confuse you) Rachel
As you can see we are behind on the replies. I am trying to catch up and stay that way. I hope you have found the answer to any questions you had and thanks for watching!
