This is DEFINITELY the shag haircut that I wore in 1969-74! My hair is exactly the same texture as his "model". He did a perfect job!!

It's a fairly simple cut I do my own farrah fawcet cut lol

You should keep looking. The shag is a fun and easy haircut that most stylists know.

@@rain3743 The last time I tried to get this cut she made me look like Carol Brady! LOL Carol Brady was a pretty lady but I didn't like her hair cut! LOL I won't give up looking! Its become a quest.
I've seen MANY video tutorials about Shags (Wolf, Butterfly, Unicorn etc.), but THIS is the BEST so far.
You make it look easy but there is definitely some skill involved here.

Wish I could get the audio to work! It won't work for me no matter what I do, on any device. This cut is absolutely perfect for my thick curly hair, and watching Ben's expert work just makes me cry, I miss my stylist so much! Stupid pandemic. (Fully admit I'm lucky that I am in a position to *just* complain about bad hair. Stay safe, everyone- we can get through this!)

Hi. What a wonderful haircut ❤️ Could you please tell me, if this technique also works for hair which is longer and wavy, but not curly? Thank you and keep up the great work!
This haircut can work with just about any texture I do recommend though that your hair is on the thicker side and if it's not keep the layers longer otherwise the bottom of the hair can look stringy or keep the layers towards the front also the diffuser will add volume and make your waves even more defined with the right products. Hope this helps 🙂
Yeah! Wavy hair is ideal for it. You get a sleeker, more "beachy" vibe. I just cut my daugtrer in laws's hair like this. She really doesn't have to style it. This cut releases the natural texture, and great in almost all hair types, except for " fiine with low density" hair, since it's so layered.

Yes
No. This is a curly shag. Farrah had a layered, feathered cut.
Yes and no. Farrah's was actually a little disconnected, with the front cut sumilarly but at a bit more of an angle back ariund the perimeter, taking that front longer corner out and more of squared off layers in the back. But yes, a type of Shag shape, blown out witt round brush and set in hot rollers. You can cut short to long layers in back, underneath and put round layers on top, too. Shags are a bit versatile. This a classic Sassoon Shape similar to what Sassoon called "The Shake, " I think.
@@bleuschat4386 Which can actually confuse a younger stylist because "feathered" isn't a technical term. It is a description of an affect of short, square (flat) layers or graduation.

Is this the Goldie Hawn haircut from Shampoo?
Pretty much, But Goldie's fringe was cut and then there was a longer disconnected side guide. it was aldo blown out and curled under. So, the front wasm't as smooth of a slide with the shears, connecting all the layers. The stylist just created a seperation in tbe fring to the next part of the face frame.
Beautiful layered cut with very nice styling. But could you slow down the video a bit? Not able to see that great scissors action you have.

I have hair this curly and long ii have had to let it grow out 3x because nobody can cut it like this. I'm in ct and I have tried showing pictures this tutorial everything no hairdresser wants to see it. Maybe they take it offensively. I give up on ever being able to get this style. I know can get it I had it all g time ago but that hair dresser left. The ones I have gone to say they can but don't even come close. It just socks. If your ever in CT please look me up. Lol

How many arttempts have you made at getting it? It's pretty basic. A lot of my clients SAY they want it but then. won't let me cut the shorter layers or the curtain fringe because "they need to be able to pull it up in a sloppy bun for the gym. or sports" Priorities.

This finished style is so pretty. I see so many ugly mullets and the old lady " fFarrah" shag that's too layered and dated. This is both classy and modern somehow. My hair texture would be great with this.
