I've tried a few recipes from the book. I definitely recommend the Fireclaw stew (more like a chili and must add some water/broth) with the Honeyloaf, just like it says in the book. The Brew-battered Wedges, I view them like potato chips. Addictive and can't have just one. The Royal Grits a satisfying breakfast and can use instant grits instead of what the book recommends. Because the instructions are basically the same between the two just with extra steps.
I got hooked on using the standard Local Stew when I did the quest for the Chainscape cook. I generally am in the habit of consuming one when I know a big fight is coming, I also tell myself that I am supporting the local cooks when I replenish in their settlements. lol
I don’t care much about food perks stacking. I do think getting a timed bonus past level 4 would be motivating to use food more. Like a less powerful valor surge. I absolutely agree with being able to craft our own food once we unlock being able to buy a recipe. And being able to carry more than 5 food items would be *chef’s kiss*
having food perks be like mini-valor surges would definitely be cool. And yeah, it's super limiting only being able to carry 5 food items at a time. I feel like it would make more sense to have a limit of 5 (or 3) per item, rather than total. But, hopefully they consult with us on how to make it better in H3 😁
Yeah that bugs me too.. at least you can use it once you actually drop into the Arena/Hunting Ground. I imagine it has something to do with the timer on the challenge and the timer on the food item, but yeah, it’s weird you can’t use it beforehand.
Potions Heals Percentage? Sure about that? Notable Foods still: Mounted Archer (since it is a rare skill) and Evader for extra dodge rolls. Well, Elite Weaves from Burning Shores are the Answer for a quick fix for Food. Skill Combinations (and higher compared to a single elite weave). New Elite Common Stew would likely be 20% more Health/Stamina and 2 more Dodge Rolls for example. But a Melee Snack could als Exist, which would look similiar the Elite Melee Weave, maybe a "dexterous" version exist where instant of Melee Damage Reduction it´s Ranged. Cooking itself? Only if it works free form, i.e. you can just mix and match, you just have to find out what does what. Randomize the attributes of Ingriedents and at a fullness value, or bitter value etc. So you can have Stamina regen und Mounted Archerfood but it might not go well together, so limits duration or effectiveness, but mixing other ingriedient in as well, might change that. Keep some simpel reciepts as pointers. QoL : On Shelters you automatically use your favorite Food with extra duration.
Aahh, baited, I thought it was going to be a horizon food cooking vid 😂. Improvements? Probably make it work like the physicks flask from elden ring, 2 food active at a time of your choice, and instead of make them very redundant by boosting levels of skills (which become kinda meh by the endgame because If you're already at +4, the extra 1-2 get canceled) you could make it resist some elemental damage or, proc some sort of %-based damage or defence boost when an element is applied (like some elden ring tallies) idk, something around those lines, just randomly thinking on the spot here
haha, i'm sure no one would want to suffer through having to see me actually cook food 😅 and yeah, that's a cool idea to have it work like the Wonderous Physick. That's such a cool concept in general. Have it be your own customizable combination of perks/skills. That'd be really fun to play around with
I'm hoping horizon 3 will add some form of a survival mode were food actually matters. How about letting Aloy actually sit at a campfire and cook her own food. As much as i love HFW in terms of immersion this game feels extremely flat. And there is no need to eat food at all...well, except for those massive amounts of berries.

700+ hrs and have never used food, it’s pointless in this game.
Very useful on ultra hard.
Be able to use potions and food on the platform before droping into the arena!

@@chazmatazzgames The only option to save time in the arena is to take them right at the door before you start.

Food is just another item too many to manage. It’s already time consuming enough to cycle through the list of potions, shields, etc.
you're not wrong.. it definitely gets to be a lot to manage
I have never used food in Horizon, I completely ignored it lol
I meannn, that’s pretty common. I think that’s how most players are. Hopefully they do some things in Horizon 3 to make it a bit more useful

Food is basically health potions but have an extra boost
