Wait a minute.I like Mathews but this was a team effort .This isn't Mathews team he scored 2 goals because he was due.This is a team sport and it was a team effort.Everythong had to fall into place for this comeback.Even key save's Tampa could easily have scored more goals.And it's really O'Riley that has put his stamp on this team changing the culture

I don't agree with this take. It was not Matthews putting the team on his back. It was a team effort. L3 has been solid when Lines 1 and 2 go quiet. Acciari gets the first goal. Knies gets a point on that goal and absolutely saved the game by retrieving the puck off the goal line. Nobody mentions that it was Mitch Marner that set up the Matthews 4-2 goal that sparked the comeback and he also set up the Morgan Reilly 4-4 tying goal. Marner has points in every game. He leads the NHL in playoff points at 10. So far he is the MVP candidate. Nylander had three Assists. Leafs have figured how to get to Vasi. Long range point shots with deflections. Still room for improvement. Keefe sucks at the match up game. Line 2 gets badly outplayed in games 1,3 and 4. The Holl/Gio pair leaks goals. Holl on the ice for 2 of the 4 goals against. We are not going anywhere giving up 4 goals per game.
Was yelling at TV first period for them to just take shots and stop trying to be perfect. They were overthinking. Just put it on net and see what happens, they did that in third period.
I think the difference with this team now is there top guys have more experience and Dubas added some key guys. My take on last night or last 2 games in Tampa was Leafs played a more passive style game . They did not push for offensive bc they were more in the defensive mindset. They also had depth which gave them the ability to mess with line combos which is huge in playoffs. I'm curious if Bunting makes it back in line up. I think its too risky. He could just fire up Tampa and give them a slight edge or on the either Tampa will be too fired up and take dumb penalties.
O’Reilly was an ANIMAL even down 4-1 he was fighting like it was a tied game…. That rubs off like no other player has done in the past with this Team.

Matthews did great...but the whole team stepped up and has fought hard. Marner isn't getting enough praise, as he leads entire league in play off points.
But it takes the moronic media to say he should make more than Mc David, tone that down sid or we won't have any money left to sign others. It's been that stupid theme over and over that's hamstrung this GM. It's about time AM led the team and 1 game doesn't equal more money. It's about time he lead the way I would say and hopefully he continues. Thanks stammer.
AM will sign a contract with a higher AAV than McDavid's current contract. Simple economics and math, zero to do with an apples to apples comparison. Don't get your panties too bunched, CM's next contract when he signs in Toronto will be HUGE... (More than Matthews) Remember when JT comes off the books they will have the deep pockets to bring him home ;)

@@joedirt9600 I watched the game where the leafs outplayed the bolts in period 2, 3, and OT. Bolts had a lucky bounce in the second to go up 3-1.

@@Langen2000 I'm sorry but they only outplayed the Bolts in game 4's 3rd period and OT. Never outplayed them in game 3. The comebacks are amazing but they've been putting themselves in these situations by playing terrible in the first two periods of each game besides game 2.

Sid is right BUT it doesnt matter who plays good or bad. Leafs need to win a series. period. even if they get slaughtered by the Bruins in round 2. good, bad or ugly, just win 4 games againts the Bolts.
Leafs would traditionally fold with a lead like that with 10 mins left in the period. Now magically they catch a second wind and score three goals in a matter of six minutes and another wintin six minutes of overtime. All of a sudden Tampa Bay goalie can't stop a beachball???

Why did the Leafs wait until 3rd period to play? They're not going to be Champs playing like this. TB shut down the offense well but Leafs tops have to find a way. Does help when coach plays #3 #2 instead of #37 and Gustafsson who are better offensive D. Only Reilly can quarterback. Keith isn't a great coach imo.
