This has to be the first cover I've seen on RUclips where the drummer isn't scared to play a shuffle. This was perfect.

This was the first song I learned in my first band almost 40 years ago. Still playing it in my current band! Really looking forward to this series. You have a great channel!

Here is something that comes to my mind often when I see you play...
I am a big fan of the sound of your drumming in general. It's big, fat, dynamic, accurate and soulful. You always kills it. I actually love your "backbeat ghost notes' sound", and in a triplet shuffle like this they really stand out. I feel like your ghost notes are in general louder and punchier than the ghost notes of most pro RUclips drummers (something which I dig a lot, It's like a signature of your sound for me). They still feel like ghost notes, don't get me wrong, but that is because your backbeats are massive, so they are still quieter when compared to the accents. But every time I see you playing these ghost notes+backbeats, I look at your forearm and the muscles are popping in such a way and the arm seems so tense, as if you are making a lot of effort to get such a massive snare sound with that much of a snap between ghosted and accented snare notes.
In many of the videos where you are playing a song that features intense ghost note activity, it looks in the first minute of playing like you are not gonna be able to get to the end of the song keeping the same snare intensity, and will burn out before the end. But of course you always nail it. But you are not one of those drummers that from a visual perspective looks relaxed, with muscles relaxed I mean.
I wonder if you are indeed intentionally going for these fat ghost notes and if the tension I'm seeing is merely an impression. Are you able to stay really relaxed even when you play with such intensity the "triplet-feel ghost notes" in this shuffle for a couple of minutes? Do you think what I'm saying/pointing out makes any sense?
Cheers from a big Brazilian fan stuck at home one more weekend watching RUclips.

    Great job, dude!
Have you ever watched that song live? I'm just a huge fan of ZZ Top and from Frank Beard. The way he does that song live is just unbelievable. Right hand is absolutely straight while the left does all the shuffle swing, AND along with the bassdrum.
He also tends to push to beat forward, as if the snare hits were kinda uptempo. But just the snare! I don't know how to explain but I can clearly feel it. He is loose and stiff at the same time, crazy
Of course, the record version is more traditionally played hahaha

sounded good though it's not how Frank Beard plays it. It's a shuffle on the snare and quarter notes on the hats / ride.

The drumming is top notch 🤗
I love the drive you make, and the work of your left hand.
However, I've heard sooo many buthchered versions of this song from bad cover bands in diffrent local pubs, so I have some issues about this song, and many more buthchered originals. 🥴
