    The SARB is a fieldwatch...? The whole idea of a fieldwatch was to have big and easily read-able numerals with lume dots and a minute track...

    That Mido Multifort is an absolute stunner, shame that for us in the 8-inch wrist (or just under) audience, it will probably wear too small. Gonna go and try it on though, as I love the way it looks. Mido is so underrated, a bit like Certina, but some of their latest offerings are so well executed, and offer incredible value! Great video as always!

    Lovely video once again Andrei. Recently got the chance to fit the 36mm Explorer and that for me definitly underlined that it is the perfect watch. But all these great field watches have something on offer, but I would prefer them all with slight tweaks to make them even more perfect. The Khaki Field mechanical is a gorgeous 3 hander, but would be perfect with a 100m WR, the Tudor Ranger would be perfect in a couple of mm smaller (I get why they don't, but that shot next to the explorer definitly shows that the dial size is just a bit off. I love certina, but that date window looks out of place, the Timex Lug to Lug and sizing is a bit to big, but estheticly its a winner. All just tiny nuances which for me make them fall short against a powerhouse.
    Do really like the Super Antartic, and definitly will hope to stumble upon a Mido to try it on, but for now in this category my money still goes to the Black Bay 36 ;)
    BTW, can't fault the alpinist, I wore the mountain glacier on my wedding day ;)

    • @BraveBeaters

      haha! Congratulations! Solid piece to be worn on such an important day! :)
      As for the Ranger, exactly, if you love the size range of BB36 or the explorer 1 size, Ranger it is a bit too large and tall unfortunately. And the Multifort, worth throwing an eye over it when you have the chance.
      Cheers, Roy! :)

    Another top video BB. Personally I find it hard to beat the Hamilton Khaki mechanical black dial on the NATO strap. A no nonsense easy to read at a glance watch that does not attract attention. It has one job and does it very well. Confession time I own this watch. The Prospex Alpinist is an interesting addition to this list, I love the watch design and for once I'm not put off by the non colour matched date wheel, maybe it's the cyclops I just don't know but I like mine, the strap takes an age to break in though but I think it's worth it. I love the Explorer 1 in 36mm, it's still a tool watch that maintains function over form, I love it and hope to get one some day. The Ranger is another favourite and is great value for money given the spec. I tried it just after release and really liked it but another watch was higher up on my list. Just a thought on some other considerations for the at a glance legibility, the Tudor BB36 black dial and the Hamilton Titanium automatic. Thoughts welcome and thanks for sharing. Of course to include every field watch option this video would never end so thanks for the suggestions. I do like that Certina DS-2, may be worth adding to my watch 'watch' list.

      @@dparis2172 as a field watch the explorer is now defunct, white gold on a tool watch with a scratch magnet bezel!!?? The Tudors Faux aging I find trying way too hard. Nice vid Andrei,but a few are borderline 'field' in my opinion.If one really appreciates the legibility and purpose of the field watch(which was it's intention) then simplicity is the way to go.I picked up a flawless CWC Mellor 72 last year from a friend who had the field watch virus and bought a Hamilton Khaki Field two weeks after the CWC(silly boy) so he sold me the CWC,infinitely better in my opinion,38mm,simple dial and old British heritage.Have a great day.

    Interesting choices here! Nivada looks great. I bought recently Bulova Hack, also a good example of a field watch (although with weak WR). Have to disagree about the SARB033 because: 1. It's discontinued and 2. It's more everyday/dressy than it is a field watch.

    @frankdefranco9436 Год назад +1

    "Field watch" means they have to have ONLY number indexes, that's how they are distinguishable from other categories. That's pretty much an industry standard at this point. Pilot watches and Field watches differentiate from their large dial size (40+mm), numbering style (Flieger A/B), hand designs and 12'O Clock arrow mark. Some of the watches you showed here are not Field watches at all, they are GADA watches, which is also my Fav category of watches. Also most field watches look the same to me, I don't like spending Hamilton like money for a Seiko design like watch.

    Nice choices there! For me, perfection lies with the 36 Explorer, but I've a soft spot for both the SARB Alpi and Khaki. Actually I'm surprised this is a genre of watch ignored by most brands. It's such a versatile, satisfying type of watch but probable harder to hang the hype on! I do like that Longines, just wish they'd made it a bit smaller and skipped the fauxtina'd face. Another addition I'd suggest is the 37mm Longines Spirit and (just about) the 38mm black dial Aqua Terra. And the 36mm OP is a winner too...

    The SARB017 Alpinist is one of my favorite watches ever made. I have watches that are more expensive in my collection and I would more easily part with all of them over letting the Alpinist go.
    That said I think Seiko sort of dropped the ball on every version they have made after that point. The cyclopse and display case back ruin the dial and make the watch thicker than it needs to be. Also for whaterver reason they got rid of the snegraved S on the crown which just makes it look cheaper. I think its great they improved the movement, but pretty much any other change I dont like on them.
    That said I love the version of the Alpinist I have and its probably one of those watches that will stay in my collection for the rest of my life.

    I'm sorry but I have both Certina DS-2 and DS-2 turning bezel, the endlink of the steel bracelet is different. If you hold both in hands you'll see one is longer, the springbar is not at the same spot. I've tried.

    • @BraveBeaters
      @BraveBeaters  Год назад

      what?! this bracelet is certainly from a Turning bezel and it fits perfect the red dial case version, like it was made for it. could this red version be different case wise than the 2022 DS-2? hmm...

      @jrgdrumsandwatches Год назад

      @@BraveBeaters I just tried again with the turning bezel's bracelet on the regular DS-2, there's a big gap between the case and the endlink. It holds in place but I wouldn't trust it. The other way, DS-2 regular bracelet put on the DS-2 turning bezel is impossible to get the springbar in place. Weird that it fits with yours 🤔

    Ranger's only problem, in my opinion, is its size. 39mm in 2023 seems like 41mm 20 years ago... Tudor must use the case of the 54BB in the next model.
