My wife, who has been my companion for 50 years, died day before yesterday. This morning when I awakened, Jimi's words in the second verse of this tune were on my mind.
So laid back and calm. For three minutes and twenty eight seconds, all of our problems have disappeared into the winds that cry. and we were free from this chaos for only a short time.
As a kid growing up in the 90s , I would often fall asleep to this song on repeat. It took some time for me to finally figure out about Mary & why she cries to the 🌬️ wind & everytime I listen to this song I always say to myself , Sing it Jimi
Over time you'll notice that even some of the greatest guitarist take describe Jimi as an alien like guitarist, nobody has seen such talent and nobody will ever see someone who can play like Jimi
After all the jacks are in their boxes, and the clowns have all gone to bed ... you can hear Happiness, staggering, on down-the-street. Footprints dressed in red. And the Wind whispers, "Mary." A broom is drearily sweeping ... up the broken pieces of yesterday's life. Somewhere, a Queen is weeping. Somewhere, a King has no wife. And the Wind, it cries, "Mary!" The traffic lights, they turn blue tomorrow, and shine their emptiness down on my bed. The tiny island sags downstream, 'cause the life that they left us - is dead! And the Wind screams, "Mary!" Will the Wind ever remember the names it has blown in the past? And with this crutch, its old age, and its wisdom, it whispers: "No! This will be - the last!" And the Wind cries, "Mary."

@@neilmoneymaker4875 It's not Hendrix. The guy who uploaded the video has recently added that it is a cover. It says that under the date that the video was uploaded.
You should be able to hear it right away. Hendrix was an excellent chord/melody guitarist and his sense of rhythm was alway dead on. This player's timing is off, he often comes in a hair early on chords and is frequently slightly behind in the melody/solo parts. One of things that separates an outstanding guitarist from the rest is good rhythmic playing, that's why you see most good players either tapping a foot or moving part of their body in time.

The story behind this song is interesting: Jimi was drunk and very angry because of the bad food his girlfriend cooked for him. He locked her up in the bathroom but she could get out and ran away . Next day she came back and without any excuse because of his bad behaviour he gave her a sheet of paper with the lyrics of this song. He did not expect her to come back . Her second name was "Mary".
And to just to think how this song came about... “Jimi wrote this in 1967 for Are You Experienced?; it was inspired by his girlfriend at the time, Kathy Mary Etchingham. He'd gotten into an argument with her about her cooking. She got very angry and started throwing pots and pans and finally stormed out to stay at a friend's home for a day or so.” (Songfact)
