Even better is that it has the "Rusty Approved" seal of approval - he looked like he was having fun hopping up on it and checking it out for you! You did kind of skip over one area - does the belly area have big enough storage for your binders? I know that was kind of an issue with some of the other trailers you'd shown us.
Which brings forth his point of being able to use it with "any" truck if his breaks. We've already seen him short of tools because all of them were in the Rollback. Most of the rigs I've seen have had a second set in the bed containers for this reason - covering their bases since a borrowed or rental truck may not have the chains, binders, etc either with it or of the type required for the jobs he does.

Congratulations. Along with your other subscribers/patreons, we are all eagerly waiting to see this trailer on a job. I am not a truck driver, but I do travel a lot and I am always curious about the rigs I see on the highway. Watching your videos and those of them wrecker companies up in BC fascinate me. Until now, I had never figured out how those heavy haul trailers functioned. I never knew that some trailers are self-powered. That is awesome. Thank you.
I am glad you were able to find the trailer you need. Thanks for showing us its features. Not being a "big truck guy" myself, I appreciate your straight forward demonstration of how it works.
Good choice. Spot rust is trucker's language for No Payments. Works for me. I love watching you work with equipment that does everything you need it to do.
Sweet looking trailer. That is cool how the nose works. I have seen alot of drop decks over the years driving truck but this type is a first. Have fun with your new toy Casey
Casey I live in Europe and spent a lot of time, 40 years, working on building sites and I've never seen a trailer of that type before. They were always solid trailers where the track machines had to load on and off from the side. That trailer is an awesome piece of equipment.
This is almost just like the goose necks we used in the army, except they were not powered. We just dropped them off the back of the trucks to lie them down flat. We had to winch them back up to the truck, yours is much easier. Very cool.
Nice pick. I like how when I think I know how trailers work you find one that is just different from everything I've seen. The 10 year old kid in me that used to be fascinated watching semis weave in and out of loading bays to drop off and pick up cargo is very entertained.
Good for you Casey. I pulled a scissor neck for awhile lowbedding but it was strictly mechanical. The tractor needed to have a winch to lift the neck up and down. It worked well until the hinge pins seized up one time with a D-6 blade on the gooseneck. Apparently the grease wasn't getting completely into the pins. I see you have nice outriggers there and lots of D-ring tiedowns too. I hope this gives you good service.
It is always nice when the dog approves. A friend took his dog along camper shopping. The dog picked the camper! Those trailers are cool! Also easier to load dead equipment with a truck mounted winch, over having the RGN stuck in the 5th wheel.
I don’t think so but it’s possible. You can find all kinds of cool stuff on those Government auctions, some in EXCELLENT condition some not so much. I hope it gives you good service!!!
I've always liked the fold down over the removable. A company I used to drive for had a 3axle fold down. Was great for when your truck broke down, they'd bring you another one to use while our shop fixed the broken one.
We had trailers like that in the army, except they did not have the pony motor and hydraulics -- We folded and unfolded it by pulling pins in the fold and using a winch that was mounted on the back of the tractor to drop it and pick it back up. Glad you finally found one that so closely matches what you were looking for!!
Glad you found what you need. If you do a drive-by paint job on it that will make it a nice addition to your "new" truck. It will be fun to finally see what you are going to do to the tractor after hinting about it so much.
As a former trucker Casey I like the trailer I like the flat goose neck I drive some now so I like equipment of all kind s as well the easier loading less time waisted missing other calls great purchase

You don't show it and just say "I put my truck on this trailer." As someone who sometimes has problems backing a 20' camper trailer into its space, I am really impressed with the fact you got that huge vehicle on a trailer that is barely wide enough for it and put the rear tires on those spots. Sure, you can say "I have done this my whole life and know what I am doing.", but I am still impressed.
Nice purchase. A few rusty spots, faded paint, everything works well, specs are correct as needed, some people just know nothin' and I don't mean you. Thanks for sharing.
@4:47 does this mean you are kitting your truck for a dtu/rtu, Holmes, NRC, Zack lift. That’s the first thing that came to mind when you mentioned the crossmembers going bye bye
You have some awesome fans! Glad to see them helping you out, amidst the current buffoonery at cummins/dodge. side note... Robby Layton should do the refresh on your trailer
Hey Casey, I love your Pod cast. Well done. You are so skilled and a great narrator. I worked with you one day in Hopland, Ca., haul base for Bray’s. You were great to work with, thank you, Dan Snider
Dang that's a cool trailer Casey. It always amazes me how many different types of equipment are around for semi trucks. As to its current condition that's really no one's business but yours but on a side note I think you'll have it cleaned up and painted when you're sure it works as designed. I'll also Guess you'd paint it white to match your truck, possibly with blue pinstriping as IMHO you always have nice looking, working equipment. I hope you have NO issues with it and all plans go well with it.
My dad owns a construction company and has an exact copy of that trailer far as I can tell and uses it a lot. I rarely do anything with that side of the family businesses, just not my thing really, but from what I've seen and when I've been around his, they seem like good trailers.
I would think that trailer would be better than a removable neck trailer for what you want to use it for. Even if the truck wasn't having surgery in October.
I hope that really helps your business Casey. And cosmetics are easy and inexpensive to fix, to the comment below, whereas finding the right functionality at the right price for your budget are paramount. You did well.
Good to see you got what will work for you! I know you probably know this, but all those triangles on the side flip out so you can put planks on them for extra width. The narrower trailer may be advantageous in certain situations, but it’s nice to have the option.
Kind of funny. The issue you were talking about where you parked I couldn't even see. Obviously not a trucker, but I enjoy all of your content. Looking forward to seeing what you do to the truck.
Congratulations on finally finding a trailer that fits your requirements. As a New Zealander who drove an 18 wheeler in the States in 2007/08 ( tho never got to Oregon) I enjoy watching your channel as it brings back memories. Keep up the great work.
I ran one for a company that I worked for. I used to keep old carpet to put on the ground to keep the kingpin area from getting dirt and stone on the 5th wheel plate!!!

Cool 😎, up here in Alberta we have scissor necks also ! We fold them down using a winch mounted on the truck ! We also can pin them flat so they are full flat bed ! The truck and trailer usually have tail rolls ! Some flip beaver tails !
After watching quite a few FSC Trucking videos with his step deck, this trailer is better for what you do. Gentle ramp, fully unhooks from the truck, better ground clearance for the less improved roads you seem to get a lot of and no crawling around on the ground to unlatch for loading and unloading. I keep getting amazed at just how many variations there are in these trailers.
Congrats on the trailer Casey!! Looks like it should handle just about anything!! The fact that everything works is a really nice bonus!!! I'll be looking forward to seeing some of the loads you use it on 😁
Glad you found such a versatile trailer for your heavier needs, look forward to seeing it in action. Cool that the Rollback can be broken out of jail on it too (obviously hope they fix it). Importantly, it would appear that Rusty has already given the new trailer the paw of approval.
So having a trailer thats able to load the truck that pulls it onto it seems like a good quality to have. Im sure a hydraulic winch of some sort is in that trailers future.
That's a really cool trailer! I've never seen one that hinges the fifth wheel down like that! Seems a lot more useful than a regular low boy or having ramps on the back.
Why do you keep buying old rusty looking items .You have a half tidy truck now and then you put that trash on it
Because you’re not paying for it.
