Next thing Teenage Engineering needs to do make is a video recorder, so i could film myself flipping over their desk, and capturing the audio with their microphone. Massive irony sandwich 🥪
advancer plugin would work great if it can go back a bit more in miliseconds for lets say you have a kontakt library flute for example running on one track ok. Glad I can use logic on my A12x iPad Pro. I might finally buy the Apple Pencil if it’s stable enough - would be excellent for precise automation, or sample cuts.
Teenage Engineering = the Balenciaga of electronic music. Seriously, tho...the touchplate keyboard on the Microfreak is actually a pretty old concept, dating all the way back to Don Buchla and the first system he built for the San Francisco Tape Music Center c. 1963. The idea is that you can get a lot of signals out of human control if you're willing to use them. Regular keyboards give you on, off, and note#. Touchplates, however, can give you loads of minute changes to route all over for extra uses; the Microfreak touchplates can actually do very involved expression work, including the coveted polyphonic aftertouch. But you do need to get used to them. A couple of tips: 1) wash your hands prior to playing the Microfreak. This helps to make sure that the touch responses are pretty uniform each time you use it. 2) Don't play the Microfreak when physically stressed, like after running or a workout. Again, this will result in inconsistent controller behavior from your physiological state affecting the controller response. And... 3) Touchplates are NOT keyboards. Instead, if you deal with them on their own terms, you wind up with a controller that can boggle the mind from its responsiveness...but playing it like a black-n-white means you're just scratching the surface. Try doing some shit that piano instructors go into conniption fits over...the potential rewards are there, 100%. So what about that new $750 Teenage Engineering Slinky? Generic transducer and contact mic from AliExpress + metal slinky...cost around $20 but the TE boxes and logos and crap add another...uhhh...$730. Yeah. Next up from the Supreme of electronic music: the Teenage Engineering TE-W2!!! It looks like an ordinary 2-meter 1/4" cable...and it IS! Only $299!!! Sure, you can get the same damn thing on Amazon for $1.98, but we've added...OUR LOGO!!! This of course necessitates the increased cost as the present-day TE logo demands that minor pricing premium...so, the extra $297.02 of course MUST be charged because...TEENAGE ENGINEERING!!! WOOOOO!!! Meh.
@@Weaverbeats It actually has less features than some defaults for daws as far as I can tell tbh. Ableton goes back 1000ms, but also in samples. Just press the tiny little D to the right on your master track to open it up. No need to insert a VST and everything. Cubase has it too. But I'm not sure what the max is. Can't be bothered to open it up for a youtube comment too tbh. But yeah, plugin is pretty much just a default DAW feature. There's plugins that do sample alligned stuff, but you can just dump em on all tracks and it'll automatically do it too. So even for the niche applications it's just... not as good as what already exists.
In GarageBand iOS, they consistently added new sound/instrument packs every 2-3 months, and I assume they’ll bring that over to logic for iPad but the subscription only still sucks
kinda cute that you haven't heard of negative delay before :3 just kidding. i know that it's not relevant to most beatmakers, but just so you know this is a widely used technique when mixing rock music. drums, bass, guitars, it is used everywhere. cause you always have a lot of mics recording the same thing and then you mix them together and try to phase align them. and well, you sometimes have to shift things forwards or backwards in time for that. not by an amount of ms that you can hear, sometimes not even 1ms, but just a few samples. it makes a huge difference. If you're interested in seeing that in action I made a stream lately called "Mixing Stream [Darien Geep]"
@@Weaverbeats yeah most DAWs have a track delay feature. i was surprised why bitwig doesn't have one, but its time shift tool is good too. why would anyone need a dedicated plugin for those micro delays, is the real question. i'd personally say that there's some potential in them auto-phase aligning 2 signals with each other and stuff like that. i couldn't ever get such features to produce consistently good results yet though
not necessarily defending apple, BUT.... they're always updating the app with a ton of features and even sounds (on the Mac ), so im assuming iPad version will follow suit
Logic on iPad has no appeal to me whatsoever, if it does to someone else that’s cool. I just hope that the already lacklustre, far and few in-between updates for ‘proper’ Logic don’t become even more far and few in-between now they have a new thing to sell. Subscription is also whack.
The worrying thing about logic being sub only is you can never 'park' it on an ipad. Unlike those music apps from 10 years ago that people still use on a gen 1 pad
I started making beats on GarageBand and it’s kind of scummy for apple to even charge a subscription service for something that’s free on damn near any other device that can run it.
N.1 Absolutely NOT to subbed software.. N.2 The TP-7 is a lovely piece of minimalist art....$1.499 ?!?!? NOPE Everything I need for field recording, I can get in a $400 Zoom...For a little more I could have a decent and even more lovely looking NAGRA. N.3 I much prefer an Ibanez S body design.....N.4...now I'm hungry for guitar pasta, with a side of GAKKEN Mk II!
The problem I have with that Teenage Engineering recorder, and their microphone, is I have no faith in them as an audio hardware company. I wouldn't assume it's any better than my 10-year-old Olympus recorder much less any of the current Zoom or Tascam models that cost $1000 less.
As soon as I saw the announcement for the recorder I knew there would be a video of you shitting on it. I’m getting on my soapbox. If you think that Teenage Engineering products are overpriced, you don’t understand design or how unique the capabilities of thier products are. Thier products flexibility are unmatched. There are no products that match the capabilities of any TE products period. (Except for the desk…for now.) Here’s a video idea @weaverbeats Try to put together a setup that has the same capabilities as the field system. You can’t, but it’s an interesting exercise that will show you where you’re ignorant. Be curious if you don’t understand. You might learn.
Teenage Engineering does this stuff to draw attention to their design services. They do design work for several other brands and are obviously not going after the pro audio market. They have a whole line of electronics products at IKEA, for example.
Should have been an Analog heat software update, you could pay for. Waste of space in their hardware space, there next product could have just been ‘ HYBRID FX ‘ focused on the Analog/Digital FX extending the Analog heat heritage instead .
I mean i dont use Logic, i'm a Cubase cat. But 50$ a year to have Alchemy on my iPad Pro that's just a bargain. And we not talking about all the Logic instruments who are REALLY great. So yeah!
Everything with the name Teenage Engineering on it is a rip of. About Logic. Functionality is added all the time, at least for the desktop version. I suspect they use a subscription for the iPad because no one is going to pay $200+ for it. The subscription price seems fair, but I don’t like subscriptions. Next to that I can’t use my Mac plugins on it, making it useless for me. For recording I can just as well use ( the free ) GarageBand on the iPad.
Why do companies and artists release products with "wholesome" thoughts of wanting everyone to experience the gear but have it be expensive asf😂 it just seems like the exact opposite of wanting everyone to experience it.
You don't use logic so I should tell you that they've updated a ton!!! since I bought it 7 years ago with no paid upgrades. new samplers. new synths. added a step sequencer that can export to midi. updated the bit depth of the bus system. one of the best $250 I ever spent.
mascine has had midi output forever. logic I use like a tape recorder. I'm mostly hardware. midi isn't cv. I was just saying the logic samplers are damn good.
@@user-lp9qj7ul1g Logic is like the same price as FL and Cheaper than Ableton, and the UI & stock plugins don't look like they're designed designed by a Forrest Gump type. Also it's pretty much always been able to export midi, bro said the STEP SEQUENCER now exports midi. It does not surprise me that someone that uses so many emojis has the reading comprehension of a medieval farmer. Please let me know how the FL mobile experience is, I'll go to your funeral when you sudoku yourself after you realize its as intuitive as banging ur mom

WOOOOO!!!
Meh.
I already have a Microfreak and love it... But a limited edition space themed microfreak? Yes please!!!!
My boss is perfectly fine
The Teenage Eng. recorder looks like a 1st get iPod and a PS1 had a baby! LOL🤣
@ the advancer plugin...
Doesn't every daw have that as a default feature????
Has more features than that. Is it a software I remotely care about? No
@@Weaverbeats It actually has less features than some defaults for daws as far as I can tell tbh.
In GarageBand iOS, they consistently added new sound/instrument packs every 2-3 months, and I assume they’ll bring that over to logic for iPad but the subscription only still sucks
dropped a like , cant wait for my boss to get dealt with
My boss is perfectly fine.
Wait! I don't even have a boss!
3:49 You can't die on us; you don't have a massive hating ward/prodigy to learn your ways yet!
kinda cute that you haven't heard of negative delay before :3 just kidding. i know that it's not relevant to most beatmakers, but just so you know this is a widely used technique when mixing rock music. drums, bass, guitars, it is used everywhere. cause you always have a lot of mics recording the same thing and then you mix them together and try to phase align them. and well, you sometimes have to shift things forwards or backwards in time for that. not by an amount of ms that you can hear, sometimes not even 1ms, but just a few samples. it makes a huge difference. If you're interested in seeing that in action I made a stream lately called "Mixing Stream [Darien Geep]"
Actually I have used negative delay quite a bit, ableton has a feature for it. I haven't ever used a plugin that does it though.
My boss is perfectly fine...and she can take you...
Every day I tend to go back to analogue. More quality and I feel less of a burden for not paying monthly for a plugin.
Hey.. You open that mail from Unison Audio. They are the grandfathers of Analog Warmth. Passive Hater.
If you wanna start having fun with hardware synth Microfreak is a way to go, bang for a buck!
My boss is perfectly fine, do something about it 😅
Do review if you buy the microfreak
Subscription? Hard pass. To be fair, Logic does include new conent frequently.
someone get this man a microfreak
That Udo synth looks very reminiscent to an Oberheim 🤔
not necessarily defending apple, BUT.... they're always updating the app with a ton of features and even sounds (on the Mac ), so im assuming iPad version will follow suit
fair enough
Logic on iPad has no appeal to me whatsoever, if it does to someone else that’s cool. I just hope that the already lacklustre, far and few in-between updates for ‘proper’ Logic don’t become even more far and few in-between now they have a new thing to sell. Subscription is also whack.
So is the clipper trash?
My boss is perfectly unfine
N.3 I much prefer an Ibanez S body design.....N.4...now I'm hungry for guitar pasta, with a side of GAKKEN Mk II!
my boss is perfectly fine
Bitwig FINALLY ADDED MSEGGG!!!! N I LOVE IT!! MODULATED MEOWS!!!! 😺💖😺💖
Teenage Engineering makes great stuff
My boss is perfectly fine.
I would unironically watch the shit out of you reviewing hardware
The problem I have with that Teenage Engineering recorder, and their microphone, is I have no faith in them as an audio hardware company. I wouldn't assume it's any better than my 10-year-old Olympus recorder much less any of the current Zoom or Tascam models that cost $1000 less.
If my boss saw you, she would invite you to see the back seat of her car. 😎
My boss isn't totally fine😂
As soon as I saw the announcement for the recorder I knew there would be a video of you shitting on it.
I’m getting on my soapbox.
If you think that Teenage Engineering products are overpriced, you don’t understand design or how unique the capabilities of thier products are.
Thier products flexibility are unmatched.
There are no products that match the capabilities of any TE products period. (Except for the desk…for now.)
Here’s a video idea @weaverbeats
Try to put together a setup that has the same capabilities as the field system.
You can’t, but it’s an interesting exercise that will show you where you’re ignorant.
Be curious if you don’t understand.
You might learn.
i used to have "IT".
then they changed what "IT" was.
now, i don't know what "IT" IS! 🤷♂️😂
Teenage Engineering does this stuff to draw attention to their design services. They do design work for several other brands and are obviously not going after the pro audio market. They have a whole line of electronics products at IKEA, for example.
my boss is completely fine... (I wasn't told to say this)
TE is a meme company at this point.
Dude please don't fight my boss. He's a super cool dude. Also he's jacked like a moose. I wouldn't want let my worst enemy fight him.
So yeah!
why a subscription it is a one time payement on os, there is no reason for it to be a subscription. it is the same processor behind it
That nose scratching, very subtle? (body lenguage of someone who's lying lol)
Or the body language of someone with allergies
Seems I got some mail from Unison Audio... (chunk that sh**) 😂😂😂😂
Parking garage looksinteresting
The way Apple treat their users, if I won an iPad I'd smash it before using it.
Logic is just REAPER with a mac skin change my mind Also a guitar with fuzz, kinda already been done before. Also tonewood is a lie.
Still no true 32bit floating point headroom in Logic Pro, in the year of 20-fucking-23.
Methodist synthesist? Huh… so I’d be a Protestant synthesis also?
where's my goodnight kisses dawg?!?!?!?!?
I like the humour, keep it up…
Everything with the name Teenage Engineering on it is a rip of.
Is music just an excuse for consumerism.....🤠
yes
My boss is perfectly fine 😔
You don't use logic so I should tell you that they've updated a ton!!! since I bought it 7 years ago with no paid upgrades. new samplers. new synths. added a step sequencer that can export to midi. updated the bit depth of the bus system. one of the best $250 I ever spent.
Wow, they have an export to midi option?? 😮 It's almost like fl or ableton!.. But 15 years late 😂
mascine has had midi output forever. logic I use like a tape recorder.
What’s dumb is they’re showing people use Logic on iPad in a studio setting. That’s not how 99% of people are going to use it.
Teenage engineering is the unison of hardware.
music production on iphone is best on garageband bc it’s pretty deep and FUCKING FREE!!!!!
in this one we can see a snippet of the next season where the massive hater slowly descends into hardware GAS madness
