emmymadeinjapan There are two different bakeries that are authorized to make the Girl Scout cookies. Depending on which bakery provides the cookies to your area, you will see some variations in the cookie names and also the cookies themselves. I personally prefer the Samoas and Tagalongs to the Caramel Delites and Peanut Butter Patties.
emmymadeinjapan There are also different flavors depending on the baker that have different flavors. Also some of the places now have different gluten free option depending on the baker.
+emmymadeinjapan If you ever get the chance, try the thin mints frozen! Also, if you freeze boxes, they will last for years, if I remember right. Helps if you want to stock up while they're out. :]
When I was a Girl Scout we called Samoas Caramel Delights. Then my last year they switched it to Samoas. Also, one of my favorites was the lemon sandwich cookies, I forgot what they were called. And they also had these vanilla cookies dipped in a lemon creme or white chocolate on the bottom - I think they called them Lemonades. Part of me misses being a Girl Scout :(
i live in texas too, but they're called samoas where i'm from! the name differs depending on your location, since two companies make the cookies for girl scouts :-)
I'm from Texas, too, and when I was little and a Girl Scout myself they were called Samoas but they've changed it to caramel delights now. Nice to see its still called Samoas in other places. :)
Thin Mints are my favorite!! I can eat the whole box in one day lol I used to be a girl scout when I was in the 5th grade. That was 10 years ago omg I feel old now :P
This video just reminded me that I have a box of Girl Scout cookies that I hid from myself in back of my cupboard. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but I'm about to eat an entire sleeve of thin mints...
I'm not sure if it's the same in America, but in the UK with our Girl Scouts, which are called girl guides, there is a group for old women who were previously in the girl guides are called the trefoil guild. Hence the name Trefoil, for the cookies, I think. I wish they did girl guide cookies here in the UK but it just isn't a thing.
ItsJustGabi Close, Girl Guides were started in 1910 in the UK (trefoil Guild came later as an option for older Guiding members of those not associated with helping as a leader directly with a unit but wanted to help so to fundrase and support as a whole, trefoil guild still exists for women 18+) A group of girls went along to a scout camp and demanded something for the girls so baden powell felt he had to listen and so his sister agnes baden powell started Girl Guides, later Baden Powells wife Olave would take over the organisation. This was slowly taken abroad across the next few years and the organisation was taken to the USA but called Girl Scouts. In the UK we have never really taken up on the cookies, some groups used to sell cookies at Christmas back in the 90's but it was never an official Guiding thing just something advertised through Guiding and was through a third party company they were never official girl guiding cookies so to speak. I'm a Guide, Senior Section and Brownie leader :-) The above history comes from being PR trained in 2010 during our centenary heard the history of Guiding so many times during that one year haha
As a Girl Guide leader in the UK I can vouch for the incredible work the "world association of girl guides and girl scouts" does for girls all around the world. The cookies are a fantastic way for the girls in the USA to not only fundraise in order to keep the organisation accessible to girls of all backgrounds and support all members but also to give the girls good life skills and understanding of business on a small scale at least :-) I'm a leader for the girls aged 10-14 and then 14 - 26, I also help occasionally with a group of girls aged 7 - 10, being able to offer them all the opportunities we do is life changing not only for them but us as leaders, l first became a leader at 14, the girls I used to help with are now coming up to being adults and seeing them grow in confidence and become amazing young women is worth it. They always talk fondly of the memories they make, Love it!
MrsToshiro I live in Texas. When I was young my Mother told me the same explanation for the Samoa cookies,"there so good, after one you always want Som-mo-ah! LOL
When I was in Girl Guides (in Canada) we had 2 types of cookies. We sold the minty chocolate ones in the winter, and a pack that was half chocolate sandwich cookies and half vanilla sandwich cookies, printed with the trefoil (it looks like a clover) printed on top in the summer.
uberfreak2 Keebler is most definitely not the same baker as Girl Scout cookies. ABC and Little Brownie Bakers produce cookies for Girl Scouts year round to meet demand.
If anybody didn't know, Girl Scout Cookies are only availible once a year for a certain amount of time so whenever there's a chance to get them people buy LOTS. I usually get anywhere from 20 boxes of variant flavors to last me the year.
I was a Girl Scout and can't wait until my 2 year old daughter is old enough to join! I have the best memories of camping, learning skills like sewing and how to start camp fires, and selling cookies every year. I still buy cookies every year, my favorites are Thin Mint and Tagalongs, but I buy at least one box of every kind.
I haven't had all of the flavors either but I would say of the ones I have had my favorite is the Samoa's ...then thin mints....then the chocolate one with peanut butter! I haven't tried the rest but I want to now that I've heard you describe them especially the one you said was similar to a digestive biscuit! =}
I don't know if anyone answered this yet, but the money goes to multiple places. Most goes to a troop account which they can use for trips or supplies or other fun stuff. A portion goes to the origanization itself, allowing them to give poorer families a reduced price for camp (i would never have gone to camp as a kid if it wasnt for that and im so grateful that i got that opportunity) and keep the camps and centers running. A portion also gets donated to charaties and other organizations. I always encourage people to buy (if they can afford to) even if they don't like them because they can donate the cookies and still have their money go to a great cause. Also girlscouts are so LGBT and disabled inclusive its great and everyone should support them. I'm sorry for such a long comment but ugh I just have so many feelings about girlscouts
Joey Wu NOT SURE BUT I THINK YOU CAN ORDER THEM ONLINE NOW BUT NOT COMPLETELY SURE!!!! If you do find a site that sells them they should be $4 per box! :D good luck
Thank you for doing this Emmy! Being an Australian I have always wondered what all the fuss is about with these girl scout cookies, now I want some for myself!!
I find this so funny because I graduated high school last June and with that bridged to adults from Girl Scouts. I come from a huge Girl Scout family, my mom started Girl Scouts in 1964 and has been a Girl Scout leader ever since! I've been watching you since you lived in Japan! So long ago, ahh!
The first girl scout cookies were made in Muskogee, OK where I live. We even have a statue dedicated to the girl scouts and their cookies at the Three Rivers Museum here in town.
Thank you for reviewing Girl Scout Cookies, Emmy! I was a GS for many years as a kid & have many happy memories from those times. This may be my first comment, even though I have watched almost all of your great videos! My favorite flavor Girl Scout Cookies are the Do-Si-Dos, and my bf likes the Trefoils the best. We actually met in Savannah. They are headquartered in Savannah, GA, and I think the new Savannah Smiles are yummy too. Thanks for posting! :)
Im so straight but God, she is soooo fuckin gorgeous. This is the first time Im seeing any of her video. Im gonna go on a marathon of her vids. God bless me.
Ashley Weill don't worry, they haven't been replaced. the girl scouts use two different bakers to supply the entire country. the troop emmy's cookies came from were made by the original baker (thus, they have the original names like samoas and tagalongs instead of caramel delites and peanut butter patties). the secondary baker makes the lemonades while the original makes the savannah smiles for their lemon cookie. which cookies are offered just depends on where you live.
I never realised there were so many different flavoured Girl Scout Cookies This was an interesting review great idea for a taste test video Emmy. Some of those cookies look pretty good.
They brought the old names back! But I do miss the lemonades, they were my favorite (besides thin mints they were my life) and ra ra raisins? No, just no.
my favorite are Samoas. There are actually 12 types of girl scout cookies, it depends on what region you are in for the types that are sold. I remember when I was little they use to sell Lemonades in my region but I haven't been able to find them in a long time. They are still listed on the website.
In California they sell special regional type of cookies called Lemonades. They're so good. They're like shortbread cookies with a lemon cream on the bottom. They're my favorites besides Thin Mints. If you ever have the change you should totally try them!! 💛
I've never tried Girl Scout cookies but I was in Girl Guides for years here in Canada. We only ever had three varieties of cookies: chocolate mint (which was available only in the fall), and chocolate cream and vanilla cream (which came together in one box in the Spring). The Chocolate mint cookies were always my favourite though. .
Wow! It's so interesting how the cookies names are so different depending on the region they are sold in! Here there are lemonades, thanks-alots, caramel delights, peanut butter patties, thin mints, and short breads. :) I am a Girl Scout myself! :)
I was a girl scout about 20 years ago. The names were different then. I think it was a regional thing, but then they all merged. For example, Samoas were called Caramel Delights. Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Do See Dos are my favorite.
I wish you could make more videos like this one. I loved how it was a little more natural and free flowing.. I can tell you were in a happy mood, not that u ever aren't... Hehehe I loved the video! :)
Fun fact almost all the flavors are called by different names here in the south! I live in South Carolina. We have shortbread, caramel delight, peanut butter patty, and i believe the yellow box is called something different as well but i never really cared for those. I was a girl scout and i loved it sooooo much! I honestly think we have more than 7 kinds here as well!
I have been a girl scout for 8 years and I normally sell about 700 boxes of cookies every year. The most popular cookies where I live are Thin mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas. My favorite cookie is the trefoils and I prefer to eat them with peanut butter 😍
In New Zealand we have Girl Guides which I believe are the same as Girl Scouts (I have never been one) They also sell cookies but I don't think they have different flavours. There are plain Vanilla ones and ones with Vanilla and a thin layer of chocolate on the bottom.
I love samoas, do-si-dos, and trefoils sooooo much. Trefoils with vanilla icecream is soooo amazing. I just bought some Girl Scout samoas cupcake mix. They just came out so I guess I'll try them sometime this week!!
The prices are different in different places, because some of the money is used to fund scholarships and pay for the camps that Girl Scouts own in that area. Also, the cookies are named differently in different areas because they are by different bakers. I've been a girlscout for ten years.
In my town in North Carolina the Do-si-Does are known as "grandpa cookies" because everybody's grandfather likes those the best. And they all dip them in sweet tea, so you were right on with that!
Emmy, I used to call square dances in my long-distant youth and you are correct about the do-si-do being a square dance step. Thanks for another entertaining video. Can't wait for the next installment. 😉
In Minnesota tagalongs are peanut butter patties. Do-si-dos are peanut butter sandwhich. Savannah smiles are lemonades. Thin mints are thin mints. Trefouls are shortbreads. Samoas are Caramel delights. Amd we dont have rah-rah-raisin. Hah funny how in different states the names change.
Thank you Emmy. You lighten up my day whenever your video is out. Love you. Oh, one thing: what do you say when you eat something? I think it is Japanese for something but can't find what it is. You are great. X
It's funny because in Missouri our cookies look different and some have different names like the Tag-a-longs (or it might have been the Dosidos) are just called something along the lines of Peanut Butter Patties (or something I can't remember) and look a little different. Our Thin Mints are COMPLETELY different too! In Missouri they're very thin and are packaged in a foil wrapping. The chocolate is so thin that you can see the cookie underneath and they're SO good
Speaking of grasshoppers, this local coffee/tea shop near me has a drink called the grasshopper which is this super minty, milky, green tea drink. Delicious.
In Canada we only have thin mint and cookies similar to Oreos with a more shortbread texture that come in chocolate and vanilla. In Canada it is called girl guides.
Hubby's favorite is also Thin Mints. He even makes a "Dirty Girl Scout" drink with Peppermint Schnapps and Chocolate liqueur! He'll eat the Tagalongs and Do Si Dos as well. My favorites are Samoas (called that because you always want "some more"!) and Do Si Dos with milk. Trefoils with milk are also heavenly. At Sprouts today I saw Bigelow "Girl Scout Cookie" tea! They had chocolate mint and coconut caramel flavors. And of course there is GSC ice cream as well!
I just recently bought girl scout cookies flavored tea!! They're made by Bigelow tea company. I got the thin mints one. They also had samaos flavor. I haven't tried it yet but thought it was really interesting and had to get it!
To others outside of the country. You can't buy them all year round. For maybe a month you will see different Girl Scout troops outside grocery stores selling cookies. So it's like a special treat each year to buy your favorites.
There are I think 3 bakeries that supply the cookies depending on region; in the south we have different names for some of the ones you tasted and a few unique ones! I highly recommend the Lemonades, and there's a new S'mores flavor that was released this year. ^^
I've been a girl scout for 10 years now, however I have Celiac's disease so I can't eat the cookies. The original cookies (back in Juliette Lowe's day) were just a sugar cookie. Trefoils are the cookie that has lasted the longest. I can't say from experience, but many people have told me that the dosidos are better a day or two stale. I've also seen a new gluten free cookie that the name slips my mind right now, but its a cookie with toffee pieces in it. I'm not the best at describing flavors but it was pretty good ( of course I may be a little biased bc I was excited that I could finally eat a girl scout cookie)
I can remember when one box cost 75¢. God I'm so old😮 Still got my "Brownie" and my "Girl Scout" uniforms from 40 yrs ago too.
a random fact for those who don't know - Thin Mints are now 100% vegan. They change the recipe and released them this year and they are now vegan.
If you haven't before, try freezing the thin mints. They are SOO much better frozen its amazing.
Yes!!! I have to agree!!!!!!!
kbug95 frozen and then crumbled on ice cream.
I agree! They're sooo good frozen!
kbug95 The same thing goes for Peppermint Patties and Junior Mints.
kbug95 that's the only way I eat them!!
Who knew that you're suppose to freeze your cookies?! :D
I'm sold.
emmymadeinjapan Yes, the thin mints frozen are the best!
Yep! I have a box of Samoas in my freezer for my dad when comes to visit. They're his favorite. Tagalongs are AWESOME when frozen.
Yes, you can freeze them. They are so yummy that way.
emmymadeinjapan The mint cookies never last long enough to freeze
I wonder what's the reasoning behind the regional names of the cookies?
emmymadeinjapan There are two different bakeries that are authorized to make the Girl Scout cookies.
There are way more and they have different names were I live
Keebler still makes grasshoppers
I love how you describe everything you eat, most people just say,yea it's good
Samoa's are the bomb.
I have to agree 100%z
Totally agree. My cousin used to bring them over for the whole family to share every once in a while. Still da bomb.
Thin mints used to be my favorite but then I tried Samoas and was like holy cow these are good
Yeah the Samoa's look rly nice, never tried them though, never tried any of those cookies. I don't think that you can get them in Britain.
Josephine Riani Pinterest has a decent amount of copycat recipes. Maybe skip the baking step by using thinner shortbread-type biscuits?
When I was a Girl Scout we called Samoas Caramel Delights. Then my last year they switched it to Samoas. Also, one of my favorites was the lemon sandwich cookies, I forgot what they were called. And they also had these vanilla cookies dipped in a lemon creme or white chocolate on the bottom - I think they called them Lemonades. Part of me misses being a Girl Scout :(
The different cookie names, extra flavors, and even recipes of the cookies is because there are two different bakeries.
So much Girl Scout love! :)
I love you Emmy!!! 😍😄😃😀
Yah that is what Girl Scouts are I am a girl scout
I'm a girl scout
E
i am a girl scouts
I've always wanted to know what Girl Scout cookies were like. I wish they did them in England!
-A,x
Thin mints 4 life
Bunny R. Yes!
Wooo! I agree lol...this year they tasted less minty to me 8(
Don't watch this while PMSing because you will get an extremely intense cookie craving
Jo Remmy yup just happened
Or stoned
Samao's are usually called Caramel delights in Texas! My FAVORITE!
i live in texas too, but they're called samoas where i'm from! the name differs depending on your location, since two companies make the cookies for girl scouts :-)
Here in RI and in Mass Samoas and Tagalongs are called Caramel Delights and Peanut Butter Patties
I'm from Texas, too, and when I was little and a Girl Scout myself they were called Samoas but they've changed it to caramel delights now. Nice to see its still called Samoas in other places. :)
Seyi Adewunmi Here in New Jersey too! And they're also my favorite!
I'm from nj n we call them Samoas
EATING SAMOAS WHILE WATCHING THIS
IM GETTING A 4D EXPERIENCE
My favorite cookie is definitely Trefoils. I could eat a whole sleeve (even though I'd most likely get super sick)
Thin Mints are my favorite!! I can eat the whole box in one day lol
I used to be a girl scout when I was in the 5th grade. That was 10 years ago omg I feel old now :P
This video just reminded me that I have a box of Girl Scout cookies that I hid from myself in back of my cupboard. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but I'm about to eat an entire sleeve of thin mints...
Better you than me!
I am British and we don't have girls scouts in my country I didn't even think they were a realy thing haha
Thought it was just a movie and tv thing :P
Thin mints and samoas are my favs!!
Thin mints are #1 seller, always have been even in the 70"s when I was a leader .Damn I feel old now.
There is a direct relationship so I'm sure thats where it comes from our group names are very different now though I think
ItsJustGabi Lurk near an American base....oh, and have some US currency so you can actually purchase it too. Kind of helps. But yeah.
ItsJustGabi The name trefoil here comes from the shape of the official Girl Scout pins...Trefoil cookies were always my favorite.
We have girl guides in n
"Hehe get the kettle on or pour some milk in a glass.. were having a cookie festival" They look amazing
Girl scouts have been around for about 103 years, I should know since I was a girl scout
Congrats for the 400k :D Keep it up, its always fun to watch your videos :)
Keebler still has those grasshoppers. I have a pack on my pantry right now
As a Girl Guide leader in the UK I can vouch for the incredible work the "world association of girl guides and girl scouts" does for girls all around the world. MrsToshiro I live in Texas. When I was young my Mother told me the same explanation for the Samoa cookies,"there so good, after one you always want Som-mo-ah! LOL
Jessica Gustavsson lol
i loooove emmy’s hair like this!
emmy didn't seem impressed....also, I miss the lemon creme ones they had back in the day
My favorite are the samoas and thin mints, but I like my thin mints straight from the freezer makes them tast like ice cream, yummy
Emmy, try and freeze the tagalongs! They are the best when they're frozen, and so are the thin mints.
If you want Girl Scout cookies out of season Keebler(same baker as Girl Scouts) sells a few flavors year round.
Thank you!
Walmart's brand "Great Value" also makes their own version of Samoas that are pretty spot on and even better than Keeblers
uberfreak2 Keebler is most definitely not the same baker as Girl Scout cookies.
Team thin mint, where you at?
I used to love Samoas better but damn thin mints are addictive as fuck!!! Especially if you freeze them!

Hi MsDreamcakes!
I don't know if anyone answered this yet, but the money goes to multiple places. Most goes to a troop account which they can use for trips or supplies or other fun stuff. omg i want to try these :( CANADIAN PROBLEMS
You can find similar ones..like the Keebler grasshoppers (Wal-Mart has a version too) most are good but those are classic
I'll def try grasshoppers!
Joey Wu NOT SURE BUT I THINK YOU CAN ORDER THEM ONLINE NOW BUT NOT COMPLETELY SURE!!!! If you do find a site that sells them they should be $4 per box! :D good luck
Joey Wu yeah, weird, i thought we had scouts in canada? I used to be in the scouts in the 80s, not sure about the girl branch.
Some parts of Canada have them, like in Bc
Thank you for doing this Emmy! Being an Australian I have always wondered what all the fuss is about with these girl scout cookies, now I want some for myself!!
But am I the only one who noticed that she didn't say her saying before she took a bite?
it was killing me
Itkadakimasu
I find this so funny because I graduated high school last June and with that bridged to adults from Girl Scouts. I come from a huge Girl Scout family, my mom started Girl Scouts in 1964 and has been a Girl Scout leader ever since! I've been watching you since you lived in Japan! So long ago, ahh!

Lemonades are my favorite Girl Scout cookie! Thin Mints are a close second. Followed by Samoas. Yum!
Daisy mine too, in that exact order 😍
My favorite Girl Scout Cookie is the Tag along, but I really love the lemon smiles.
Im so straight but God, she is soooo fuckin gorgeous. This is the first time Im seeing any of her video. Im gonna go on a marathon of her vids. God bless me.
Oh my god emmy, I was screaming with laughter at the ending x'D never laughed so hard! Loved this episode c:
Ahhhh what happened to lemonades? When did they get replaced? They were like thanks a lots, but with lemon...
I think they still have them but maybe the Girl Scout that Emmy bought from didn't have them
they got replaced :(( a friend of mine who is in Girl Scouts said they no longer sell them.
Jasenia Sais Depends on the region, I found lemonades in Texas this year.
Oh my gosh because I have always called them Caramel Delites... Thanks :)
I never realised there were so many different flavoured Girl Scout Cookies This was an interesting review great idea for a taste test video Emmy. Some of those cookies look pretty good.
my favorite is thiin mint😍
Rosa Maria those ate good
Keebler is actually the company behind Little Brownie Bakers. So Grasshoppers are actually the same as Thin Mints!
They brought the old names back! But I do miss the lemonades, they were my favorite (besides thin mints they were my life) and ra ra raisins? No, just no.

You are my favorite person I like to watch
Naylanie Zamora :)
I love emmymadeinjapan I like how she tries new things even crazy ones!!!!!
love that crunchy sound 😂
samoas? i thought they were caramel delights?
I'm eating Carmel DeLights right now.
i finished the whole box today😂
+Vanessa Weather they keep changing the names
+mxm987 they have different names because even though they are almost the same, they're made in different factories
I've noticed different towns have different names for them BUT same cookies? why?
In California they sell special regional type of cookies called Lemonades. They're so good. They're like shortbread cookies with a lemon cream on the bottom. They're my favorites besides Thin Mints. If you ever have the change you should totally try them!! 💛
Though it was a weed review :/
I've never tried Girl Scout cookies but I was in Girl Guides for years here in Canada. Hey Emmy you should try freezing the thin mints for about an hour then eat them, they're sooooo good that way !:)
U can leave them in the freezer for a very long time and they'll still taste the same
I wish you could make more videos like this one. I loved how it was a little more natural and free flowing.. I can tell you were in a happy mood, not that u ever aren't... Hehehe I loved the video! :)

I love the approving "mhm!" "hmmm!" "mm!" during the chewing. Hahaha. So cute! :P
In New Zealand we have Girl Guides biscuits :) they are a vanilla shortbread, sometimes with a chocolate coating
I've always wondered what this tasted like! Thanks for doing this video
Emmy, I watch u all the time and I am a GS so its awesome that u tried every cookie. Love u!😊🍪🍪🍶
I have been a girl scout for 8 years and I normally sell about 700 boxes of cookies every year. The most popular cookies where I live are Thin mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas. My favorite cookie is the trefoils and I prefer to eat them with peanut butter 😍
In New Zealand we have Girl Guides which I believe are the same as Girl Scouts (I have never been one)
They also sell cookies but I don't think they have different flavours. There are plain Vanilla ones and ones with Vanilla and a thin layer of chocolate on the bottom.
I remember when I used to be a Girl Scout. I loved every moment of it!!
I love samoas, do-si-dos, and trefoils sooooo much. Trefoils with vanilla icecream is soooo amazing. I just bought some Girl Scout samoas cupcake mix. They just came out so I guess I'll try them sometime this week!!
I've always wondered how those cookies would taste, thanks Emma :)!
The prices are different in different places, because some of the money is used to fund scholarships and pay for the camps that Girl Scouts own in that area. Also, the cookies are named differently in different areas because they are by different bakers. I've been a girlscout for ten years.
I love the little hmm you do ITS ADORABLE
In my town in North Carolina the Do-si-Does are known as "grandpa cookies" because everybody's grandfather likes those the best. And they all dip them in sweet tea, so you were right on with that!
You make my pregnancy cravings go wild lol. I love watching your videos you explain everything so well.
The chocolate is so thin that you can see the cookie underneath and they're SO good
Adriane King this is because the cookies are produced by two different baker companies, ABC and Little Brownie Bakers.
Thin Mints r my all time favorites but I like putting then in the refrigerator and make them cold
Savannah smiles are my fav!!!!
I put the Thin Mints in the freezer until the sleeve is cold to the touch. So good!!
Samoas, Savannah Smiles, and Thin Mints are my favorites!! They had one with toffee bits in it one time, so yummy!
I swear last time I checked ur channel u had 300k subs now u have 400k! Great job!
I used to watch you all the time on my old channel and omg, your quality and lighting got so better xD and I think youre now using a camera!!! :D
My favorite cookies are Thanks-A-Lot !!! i love the chocolate and shortbread and the little thank yous on the cookie
