Creepy stuff! The closest I've come to a haunted road or highway, was the Haunted Tracks in San Antonio, TX. My roommate told me about this place, and we decided to check it out. A horrible school bus and train accident occurred back in the 1950's. All the children and even the bus driver died. As a memorial, the streets of the housing area, of the dead children, were renamed after them. Then, stories started to spread, that the railroad tracks were haunted by the ghosts, of the children. Anyway, it's said that if you stop right in front, of the railroad tracks, and put the car in neutral, the ghosts of the children will push you over the tracks, to safety. So, we drive up to the tracks, and get out. We decided to wipe down the car bumper, to get rid of any prints, and sprinkle baby powder on it. We get back in the car & put it in neutral, and suddenly, we started to go over the tracks. We got out and checked the bumper, we saw small, childlike fingerprints in the powder. 😱

I honestly believe that the ghost children just guard the area to make sure that no one else gets stuck on the tracks. The thing is that those railroad tracks are no longer used. I hope that explanation helps.

I grew up near Clinton Road and traveled it regularly. It is a very long, infrequently used road through thick woods. At night it is very dark and creepy but during the day it is quite serene and beautiful. I simply wanted to say that the photo used for the stone ruins allegedly used for sacrifices is an old iron forge. They were very common in that area as they were used during the Civil War for munitions.

You know what's crazy that my mom 2 older sisters and uncle years ago before I was even born were driving back to US from Mexico . So my uncle was driving my mom and sister in the front seats with my older sister in the back seat . With my older brother who was asleep . The story goes As my uncle was driving all of a sudden they seen an odd figure of a woman in a long white dress with curly long brown hair with pale skin walk across the road , my uncle stopped the car and everyone jumped and quietly all watched as the woman Walked like 2 feet away from the truck she didn't look at them at all . That's when they noticed she had no feet , from the knees down all they said they seen were a mist following her . That's when my mom noticed a few miles back there was a cemetery . My mom told me she was scared as shit she didn't dare say a word of what they just seen because they didn't wanna frighten my sisters . Neither did my uncle say a word. They barley told me this story a few years ago my sister told me and my mom was with us that's when my mom said she seen the woman as well but didn't want to say anything because she didn't want my siblings to get scared . My moms told me they never asked my uncle if he seen the woman but when we see him again im for sure asking about it . My moms convinced maybe the woman was an angel because she remembered that day my uncle was driving he was falling asleep and my mom think it was probably an angel startling him to wake him up . Who knows . But yeah this is my family's paranormal experience I wish I would of seen

Me and some of my friends went to go check it out and as we were driving down the road I saw a ghostly black shadow appear in the fields on the side of the road that looked like a person then vanished after just a couple seconds. It was 330 am no body was out. Also there is a big hill as u go down the toad on ur right and a abandoned asyan asylum is on top of the hill. Another part of the road is a empty parking lot over a small bridge surrounded by forrests. I saw blue light in the woods that got brighter then dimmer it got closer and bigger when I was starring at it longer. It creeped me out so we all left. Scariest place I have ever been to in my life

One of the most haunted roads I think truly exists today is the one I bike through, to and from work. I work till the close at my job and I live in Minnesota, there's this road that leads through the small town and then the road leads into a very heavy forested place with a few houses and then around a lake that is also forested. Now there was one death about two years ago where a young man crashed into a tree near the edge of the road and was ejected and killed... I was biking home one night in April of this year and as I'm going literally 25 mph downhill past the crash site I glimpse pass two figures standing mere feet away from me on my left side just staring, I looked back and I could not see any sign they were there. I thought nothing of it as they could have easily been random people just staring at the stars, But WTF were they doing out at 10:00PM at night? on the side of the road? I would also like to point out that they had no faces as I remember. I couldn't even tell what they were wearing.
I'd also like to point out I didn't even see them until the last minute, when I DID notice them I had yelled "WHoa! HEy" But like I said when I looked back they were gone, and I stillll don't understand how I didn't see them until the last second
there was this guy he was driving alone at 2 am, and he saw 2 lady in red dresses standing at the bus stop, he thought of turning back to them, but then he realise.. no way there would be a woman waiting there late at night m with no car behind and infront of him and dark. he didnt see their face

Thank you for doing a Maine story, and a location that I know very well. I have a family camp in Haynesville right on RT. 2. There have been some creepy things happen in those woods around our camp. Three women spent 25 years buried on Rt.2, Haynesville Woods, which runs into Houlton, Maine. Their murderer, James "Jimmy" Hicks was caught only because he messed up in Texas and didn't want to do hard time in that state. So, he confessed to killing two of his wives and a girlfriend and burying them in Haynesville so he would be extradited to Maine he received life, but keeps trying to sue his way out of prison.

i lived in northern maine for a few years, took this road to work often cuz there are not many other ways around it. never experienced anything for myself, but these stories are real, this road is real and the residents around the road believe in all of this very deeply
I live right by Clinton Road in NJ, and while its creepy, I think it is more because people get themselves worked up before driving it. What sucks is the road is long and windy. There are zero light posts, and when you do see another car come up from back of you and ride your ass, it is scary, and thats what usually happens. I think people mess with others. I have had cars come right up on me bumper, stop, and then turn around while I kept going. There are few houses on the road, right in the beginning of it. That house itself is crazy old and creepy and I have never seen lights on, but cars are parked there. What is strange is there are 4 or 5 bridges you cross over, and when you drive back, there are less. It is extremely weird. If your car ever breaks down you are screwed as cell service on the road really is terrible until you get closer to Rt 23 and it is pitch black! Through out the road there are little areas to pull over as was shown in one of the pictures, but sometimes in the middle of the night, cars are there leaving you to wonder what the hell is going on and who would get out of their car? While I haven't seen a ghost, or anything other then being followed by cars, it is really creepy!

FreshprinceObelair No problem. Twice he mentioned NJ and I have been to both places numerous times. Clinton Road, and Morristown. Now I haven't been to the house he mentioned in Morristown, but I can tell you Morristown is very old and George Washington had his headquarters there. Battles and wars were raged there and as such is why I think it is haunted. The whole town! Well not the whole town, but some of the very old houses. My brother lived in a 3 story very old house and I and everybody witnessed strange things. Lights turning off and on. Foot steps upstairs when we were downstairs and watched an ash try just fall off the table when nobody was in the room. So Mr. Top 5 isn't making stuff up, just going off reports, but both so far in NJ I can say are true to a degree.
Here in Catalonia, we have BV-5207 between the villages of L'esquirol and Tavertet which is said to be haunted by a woman's or a girl's spirit who died many years ago. This road is surrounded by ancient woodland and there's only a handful of houses along its way. During the day it kinda has a strangeness to it, but during the night you have the constant feeling of being watched until you reach the village of Tavertet and very feel people dare driving during rainy or foggy nights.
Just a quick correction. The only time Dick Curless was a truck driver was during the Korean War, after which he began his career in country music. Because he lived in Maine, he was probably inspired to write about the road through Hainesville forest because of the numerous truck accidents due to it's icy conditions and it was local to him.

I was unaware of the fact that 2A in Maine was considered haunted. I drove up that road for an old job and my passengers and I THOUGHT we were seeing things when we saw the young girl. That whole area is pretty empty (except, for Presque Isle) and the roads frequently have moose/deer crossing them. You could be easily killed an no one would find you for days...
I'm a long haul driver and honestly the weirdest thing I see is out in New Mexico/Arizona along the 40 I swear at night I see people standing on the side of the road facing away just standing there. I assume it's a trick of the light on the yucca plants

Well I was once driving with some friends on a single road and I saw a black cat run in front of the car and I swerved the car so I didn't hit it. Everyone in the car saw it as it was during the day. When we looked around we couldn't see it and it had completely disappeared even though there was no where it could have gone without someone seeing it. This ghost cat has been seen multiple times on that road and I felt better knowing I wasn't the only one. Someone who had also encountered it said that it ran in front of the road and sat in front of the car.
There's a dirt road out where I live, where I've seen a few different things. One night, when I was 17, I was driving down this road and something large chased me, keeping pace with my car. It scared the hell outta me, and I will never drive that road at night alone again.
i've been to clinton road and it's the most sketchiest road i've ever been on, there's a story about a guy named Jiles Jones who once lived here, but in a farmhouse smack in the middle of an otherwise abandoned rural area. He had maintained a few crop fields-nothing expansive, but enough to keep a steady income. The few people who had actually engaged in conversation with Jiles described him as a cruel and hate-filled man-one whom also valued his privacy, and was infamous for wielding a shotgun and chasing off anyone who came too close to his property. He would often follow trespassing motorists in his black pick-up for as long as it took them to get back into town before he turned around and headed back home. After his death They say that if you drive down Clinton Road during the darkest hours of the night and honk your horn three times, Jiles will come chasing you down in his black pick-up truck and fire his shotgun out the window. when i went on the road at 1am there were huge trucks that would come mobbing down the street and would start getting really close to my car. They say that those trucks are phantom trucks meaning that there is no driver in the truck. Idk if that has anything to do with jiles jones but it sure was scary.
Well, that's why they are police officers and not scared civilians. That the point in being a police officer. If not, they probably didn't graduate from the police Academy
Vanishing hitchhikers are always some of the saddest ghost stories to me, lost people forever trying to get help or go home and never able to.

One of the most haunted roads I think truly exists today is the one I bike through, to and from work. I work till the close at my job and I live in Minnesota, there's this road that leads through the small town and then the road leads into a very heavy forested place with a few houses and then around a lake that is also forested. Now there was one death about two years ago where a young man crashed into a tree near the edge of the road and was ejected and killed... I was biking home one night in April of this year and as I'm going literally 25 mph downhill past the crash site I glimpse pass two figures standing mere feet away from me on my left side just staring, I looked back and I could not see any sign they were there. I thought nothing of it as they could have easily been random people just staring at the stars, But WTF were they doing out at 10:00PM at night? on the side of the road? I would also like to point out that they had no faces as I remember. I couldn't even tell what they were wearing.
I'd also like to point out I didn't even see them until the last minute, when I DID notice them I had yelled "WHoa! HEy" But like I said when I looked back they were gone, and I stillll don't understand how I didn't see them until the last second
I am also not on ANY medication, nor do I have any disorder or health issue

Thank you for doing a Maine story, and a location that I know very well. I have a family camp in Haynesville right on RT. 2. There have been some creepy things happen in those woods around our camp.
Three women spent 25 years buried on Rt.2, Haynesville Woods, which runs into Houlton, Maine. Their murderer, James "Jimmy" Hicks was caught only because he messed up in Texas and didn't want to do hard time in that state. So, he confessed to killing two of his wives and a girlfriend and burying them in Haynesville so he would be extradited to Maine he received life, but keeps trying to sue his way out of prison.

I live right by Clinton Road in NJ, and while its creepy, I think it is more because people get themselves worked up before driving it. What sucks is the road is long and windy. There are zero light posts, and when you do see another car come up from back of you and ride your ass, it is scary, and thats what usually happens. I think people mess with others. I have had cars come right up on me bumper, stop, and then turn around while I kept going. There are few houses on the road, right in the beginning of it. That house itself is crazy old and creepy and I have never seen lights on, but cars are parked there. What is strange is there are 4 or 5 bridges you cross over, and when you drive back, there are less. It is extremely weird. If your car ever breaks down you are screwed as cell service on the road really is terrible until you get closer to Rt 23 and it is pitch black! Through out the road there are little areas to pull over as was shown in one of the pictures, but sometimes in the middle of the night, cars are there leaving you to wonder what the hell is going on and who would get out of their car? While I haven't seen a ghost, or anything other then being followed by cars, it is really creepy!

No problem. Twice he mentioned NJ and I have been to both places numerous times. Clinton Road, and Morristown. Now I haven't been to the house he mentioned in Morristown, but I can tell you Morristown is very old and George Washington had his headquarters there. Battles and wars were raged there and as such is why I think it is haunted. The whole town! Well not the whole town, but some of the very old houses. My brother lived in a 3 story very old house and I and everybody witnessed strange things. Lights turning off and on. Foot steps upstairs when we were downstairs and watched an ash try just fall off the table when nobody was in the room. So Mr. Top 5 isn't making stuff up, just going off reports, but both so far in NJ I can say are true to a degree.
Here in Catalonia, we have BV-5207 between the villages of L'esquirol and Tavertet which is said to be haunted by a woman's or a girl's spirit who died many years ago. This road is surrounded by ancient woodland and there's only a handful of houses along its way. During the day it kinda has a strangeness to it, but during the night you have the constant feeling of being watched until you reach the village of Tavertet and very feel people dare driving during rainy or foggy nights.
Just a quick correction. The only time Dick Curless was a truck driver was during the Korean War, after which he began his career in country music. Because he lived in Maine, he was probably inspired to write about the road through Hainesville forest because of the numerous truck accidents due to it's icy conditions and it was local to him.

I was unaware of the fact that 2A in Maine was considered haunted. I drove up that road for an old job and my passengers and I THOUGHT we were seeing things when we saw the young girl. That whole area is pretty empty (except, for Presque Isle) and the roads frequently have moose/deer crossing them. You could be easily killed an no one would find you for days...

Well I was once driving with some friends on a single road and I saw a black cat run in front of the car and I swerved the car so I didn't hit it. Everyone in the car saw it as it was during the day. When we looked around we couldn't see it and it had completely disappeared even though there was no where it could have gone without someone seeing it. This ghost cat has been seen multiple times on that road and I felt better knowing I wasn't the only one. Someone who had also encountered it said that it ran in front of the road and sat in front of the car.

i've been to clinton road and it's the most sketchiest road i've ever been on, there's a story about a guy named Jiles Jones who once lived here, but in a farmhouse smack in the middle of an otherwise abandoned rural area. He had maintained a few crop fields-nothing expansive, but enough to keep a steady income. The few people who had actually engaged in conversation with Jiles described him as a cruel and hate-filled man-one whom also valued his privacy, and was infamous for wielding a shotgun and chasing off anyone who came too close to his property. He would often follow trespassing motorists in his black pick-up for as long as it took them to get back into town before he turned around and headed back home. After his death They say that if you drive down Clinton Road during the darkest hours of the night and honk your horn three times, Jiles will come chasing you down in his black pick-up truck and fire his shotgun out the window. when i went on the road at 1am there were huge trucks that would come mobbing down the street and would start getting really close to my car. They say that those trucks are phantom trucks meaning that there is no driver in the truck. Idk if that has anything to do with jiles jones but it sure was scary.
