I also bring you along with me going to the shop myself to get my own tattoos touched up, where I also I ask the artists there, many different types of questions that you my subscribers had asked and wondered to get a professional artists opinion on the topic. We dive into more topics like: tipping, certain situations where it might be hard to get them done and finally if saniderm is worth using or if it’s better to stick with the old traditional method to heal.

Hey bro,
This is kind of a dumb question but I can’t find anything online. Is there tax on the daily rate?
My appointment is coming up this week and I’m going through all your videos trying to prepare 👊🏼
Working on my sleeve because of you, in almost done bro. I have to get the upper right arm redone because it was done 15 years ago and the artist wasn’t that good that I went to.
Perfect timing! Got my first tattoo a couple months ago, and have been disappointed about how the button on the piece turned out. Very indistinct. I really wanted it to pop. Being Minnesotan, I am horrible about “confrontation” and didn’t want to be a problem client. But the more I read up on this, I am seeing that it is very common to get a touch up and that it’s not “Karen” of me to ask for what I want to make me happy, since it will be there forever!
Bro, werent you like at 5k a couple months ago? Big up bro! Happy for you! Get bigggg
Yeah man! Was there not to long ago, channel just continues to grow 🙏🏼📈
@@justinkd great to see man, happy for you!
Justin I agree with you that there is something pleasurable about the experience of actually getting a tattoo done. It usually relaxes me a great deal.
Lmaoo it’s a weird feeling and as much as I hate the pain it’s always such a fun experience going back under the needle 😂
Go get a foot tattoo and come back and say how relaxing it is lol
For a lot of comments I see “will an artist touch up someone else’s work” hell ya lol I got my arm done and the only part that my new artist liked for the lining, legit said “he did terrible on alot of the roses” so he legit fixed the full piece same day and now it looks amazing, get compliments everyday
I'm super happy you rep Saniderm, it was the best and easiest healing I ever had for a tattoo 🥰 Thanks for the informative vids!!
I just got one of my tattoos touch uped today. It was a pain to find a artist who would do it. I got the tattoo almost 10 years ago. It was lyrics from a song. Most places wanted me to do a cover up. The tattoo is in honor of my late dad and how the tattoo is set would make a cover up hard. I’m so happy how the tattoo looks now and the artist added stars to it as well.
I received a portrait tattoo done off my cat that’s dying of kidney failure she’s pulled me thru some very horrible years and means a lot to me anyway my tattoo is gorgeous it’s just a bit light , I’m willing to pay the artist watever he expects as he’s done awesome work on me prior , but it was just miscommunication on my part and I just want it darker , 🙏he will go back over it .
super glad I found you.
I have never had a Tattoo because I was unsure, I knew always what I’d like to get but never went for it. but seeing you made me do it, i already have an appointment let’s hope it goes well
WHAT I LOVE TO HEAR!!! So glad to know I’ve helped push you to getting it! You won’t regret it! 🙏🏼👊🏼
So glad u got the extra details put it. The pyramids look amazing !
I agree they definitely need a little more darkness to them and once it’s fully healed it’ll make them pop so much more
My Gosh I just cracked up laughing when he said “you’re pretty much screwed if your tattoo artist died and you needed a touch up, unless you die and go get one up in heaven from him!” WTH LMAO
I've watched so many of your videos, man. I appreciate ALL of your content and your education on EVERYTHING tattoos! You've helped me out A TON!! THANK YOU!!
Thanks so much bro! I appreciate this comment more than you’ll ever know 🙏🏼
Love it man. You provide a ton of value to the community.
Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites! Then again my love for tattoos as a whole keeps continuing to grow.
ALSO, ever traveled to a different state for a tattoo? I'm starting my sleeve in February. Most likely flying out there the day before and leaving the day after. Any travel tips on the way back?
That means the world to hear 🔥🙏🏼 and no I haven’t travelled to get a tattoo... yet 😉 but my advice is just to take care of it the best you can, nothing to serious 👊🏼
Got my first tattoo today! It turned out amazing
Awesome bro! Glad to hear it went well
thanks justin. you just come at the best time. i was wondering when I could get it touched up. thanks
This guy needs more subscribers, man. He deserve it.
🙏🏼
Been waiting for this video for a while thank you!
You’re very welcome 👊🏼
Thanks Justin! This was just the mental question I've had for a while!
I just got my first touch up last week. I was super nervous about it for some reason but it took all of 15 minutes of actual tattooing. I also asked my artist while there about my bigger piece she gave me last month, and was so happy to hear her say I took great care of it and it didnt need any touch ups!
That’s great to hear 🙏🏼
Got a snowflake tatto on my arm n he did not do what I wanted. Couldn’t see what he was doing. Now I can’t get any tattoo shop to return my call to get it redone by another artist. Are they just not interested? Insulted? I’m so sad. It’s such an important symbol to me
I had the same exact thing happen to me with a quote on my foot. 😬
My tattoo artist does it for free. I don't know if that's a norm but I appreciate it.
Awesome video, thanks for this! I feel more comfortable going back to my artist for touch up after seeing this.
Glad I was able to help 👊🏼
@@justinkd yes sir, I came across your page before getting my first tattoo not long ago, a forearm sleeve at that. I saw your before sesh, after sesh, aftercare vids etc and it has helped me prepare! You deserve the sub, keep those videos coming bro 👊🏻
Means a lot to hear that!! 🙏🏼 thank you so muc
I love all ur tattoos
I started with a greek myth sleeve.
Got the poseidon and medusa so far and adding some greek symbols to complete the half sleeve and do some touch up on medusa while im at it. Then continuing with the rest of the gang at a later stage
very helpful tips on ur channel, much appreciated, thank you
Another sick video bro!
Always showin love 👊🏼👌🏼
This is the content the tattoo world actually needs...not tattoo artists reacting to penis tattoos
Pretty much every tattoo artist in my area all do free touch ups for their tattoos, its pretty much seen as part of their initial service fee.
I just got my first tat done last saturday, i’m completely new to everything, your videos have been helping me a ton. but the itch... oh boy this thing gets itchy 😫
Happy to hear I’ve been able to help and as for that itchiness... SLAP IT
New subscriber. Getting my first tattoo on April 6th!!!
Welcome bro!!! Glad to have you and Goodluck with your tattoo! What are you getting?
How often do you get touch ups ? My colour tattoos are almost 3 years old while my black ones are 4-5 years old. I often wear sunscreen but before / after swimming I don't bother because the chlorine washes it off. I swim a lot. I do exfoliate and shave my tattoos. So my tattoos are in good condition. How often do you refresh yours ?
hey man i love your videos i was just wondering is the aftercare for touchups the exact same as the normal aftercare? I've been following the aftercare you provide on your channel and it's been very helpful, but this is my first touchup.
I used saniderm and now I need a touch up on my brand new tattoo. I 100% do not recommend unless you have used it on other open wounds.
For me Saniderm is absolutely amazing
Same saniderm was awesome for me. But it made me itch like mad tho!
You should a video on reviewing/reacting to your subscribers tattoos bro!
I’ve done one to bad tattos. Going to get some more videos of that done soon
Your tattoos are amazing bro I Hit u up a while back how u inspired me to get that Poseidon piece with the trident. It came out great but I do need a touch up here and there in the surrounding areas. Anyway I got a 6 hour session tomorrow let’s go 💪🏽💪🏽
Ps thanks for this video I’m definitely gona ask my artist about touch ups tomorrow
Goodluck with it, hope it turns out to how you want as a final product and glad to know I helped in inspiring you 👊🏼🙏🏼
Please ask about tattooing over freckles, do they show through the ink ect.. I want a tattoo artist reply. Thanks.
I'm not an artist but I'm arms are covered in freckles (I'm ginger lol), you can barely see them. Obviously if there's negative space then you can but it doesn't affect the look of the tat 👌
My freckles look like small bumps under the ink. They look like dark spots but I’m not letting that stop me. If it’s under black and gray or dark colors it’s not bad but noticeable up close.
Thanks for the response guys, Roll on January.
Kingofdeath my personal experience is that the pigmentation of freckles will absorb the ink so much more to where they stand out, depending on the artist, they may go over that area several times. I know on my touch ups I had mine go over it
@@toxicfire2105 but in the end it looks pretty good?
Aye! Been waiting for the vid since yesterday lol
I gotchu 👊🏼
Awww yisss more content
Always 👊🏼
I plan to get a touch up on my tattoo when I get married and change my initials ( so will work with the tat). And have them punch in the color while they are already there then don't have to heal the same tattoo multiple times .
That’s a good idea 👌🏼
Have to get it covered up here fs
I got a tattoo about 2 months ago and some of the lines had completely disappeared so I got them touched up about 2 weeks ago. But at the same time, I was already getting another tattoo so I figured I’d get a touch up at the same time
Yep a lot of people do that I did that with my sarcophagus Tattoo I just waited until I got the other side done and got the touchups all done in one time makes it a little easier on the artist and me for not having to go to the shop so many times
@@justinkd yeah, my artist is about 5 hours away and I didn’t want to just drive there for a touch up 😅
Spot on ! Makes sense ! Great info!!!! 👍
Good morning my dear. Hope all is well. Love your videos. Please stay Safe and Healthy during this Pandemic
Thank you for your kind comment! All the best to you and hope you’re staying safe aswell
Aye Justin I just wanna say your video editing quality got better. Did you hire someone to do it for you or did you just get better at it ?
Dope stuff as always and I can't believe I missed that community post to send in a question lol
Man that means a lot to hear! All me doing everything 👊🏼 practice makes perfect 💯 and it’s all good bro you support and participate more than enough 🙏🏼
@@justinkd Dope, keep getting better and you know I ain't quitting till you get 100K :)
My opinion on touch ups on a project is wait until the project is done and just pay for a full day and have a checklist of things you would like your artist to go through and email it to them in advance with pictures. I did this on my Halloween sleeve and my artist was extremely grateful. Was able to have all the color blends ready, gameplan for the days progression, saniderm wrapping, etc.
I don’t think touch ups should have to be paid for,(if it’s the artist fault for not correctly depositing ink,)and of course your artist was grateful cause they got paid for a full day for something that should’ve been for free
Been wanting to get my neck touched up by evo, I had it done by another artist 😅but I love his work on how he does his realism tattoos do you think he would do it? Also what’s the best way to get i touch with him?
That you’ll have to ask him send him a DM he usually replies back to them and see what he has to say but yeah he is definitely an amazing artist and even better guy 👊🏼
Thanks mate
Finishing my arm Thursday 😅
Hey I’ve had a Japanese dragon on my arm,red orange and blue ink for about 7 months now and it’s faded quite alot so I’m wondering would a touch up fix the fade?
So i have a sleeve tattoo which i had done about 8 years ago, I am now planning to have another sleeve done soon, I was wondering would it be best to get the older sleeve touched up in places because the newer sleeve once done is going to pop way more then the older one so i would like to bring them both up to the same shade, Would this be right? i dont one looking more viabrant then the other one. By the way its the same artist doing both sleeves.
Just got my tattoo and the ink didnt hold in one place on silhouette. How long do i wait?
Wait until it’s fully healed then book a touchup
@@justinkd gotcha. Hopefully he would do it. I waited 2 yrs just to get in
I sure he will. Most artists take pride in their work and want it to look it’s best while keeping you happy with it aswell. Plus they take very little time so in and out quick
hey i am planning to get my knees tattoo to hide scars. i've been meaning to ask, whats the rate of fading like when dk you feel to get it done when i opt to get something with bold lines and black saturation in.
Whta if i don't live in that country anymore and i need a touch up because it didn't heal properly
Then you’ll have to wait or go find someone else. Maybe talk with the shop if that’s where you got it done and they can do something
im going to get my leg tattooed in another town thats miles away as i like the artists comic book work will other artists do touch ups to other artists tattoos if it needs it?
Almost done my first sleeve and I was wondering if the legs are harsh? The arms aren’t bad except the exact spots you mentioned in one of your other videos, cheers brother
Legs like the arm.certain spots are painful, overall I’d say it’s def worse than the arm but not by a substantial amount
Had a piece with a rough heal. Might need a second pass. Is that considered a new session?
What if you know the tattoo shop that you went for said tattoo, but can't remember who in the world did it and want to get it touched up?? Yet again, it has been about 10 years since I had it done. And about 6 or 7 since my last one at the same shop. All I remember is that they are really good at what I had asked them to do, but I just need to touch up my second to last tattoo.
So how long exactly do i wait before a touch up got tatted 2-3 weeks ago and it's pretty faded can I get a touch up already
I’d wait alittle longer but yeah you should be good to get it now
Hi, I have a dragon on my leg. It looks great still. It lost some color here and there but overall it looks great. I got the tattoo seven years ago. Should I get it touched up? I didn’t know that it’s recommended after six months.
your videos are dope af, low key hate your intro tho
Well atleast the important part is what you like 🙋🏼♀️
Hello I’ve recently had a breakout on and around my tattooed area. Is there anything I can do to help this?
Just continue to wash it and avoid moisturizer around those areas
Thanks for the reply!! Appreciate it, they are quite big and bumpy and irritating, I’m getting worried as they are spreading all over my arm, is there anything else you can recommend, or do you have a Twitter or Instagram where I can dm you some pictures of it to see what you think. Thanks again and I appreciate you time.
How many time can we touch up the same tattoo
That I'm not exactly sure bc I know you can do it accuple times but also get to watch it because you can damage skin
I was wondering if it's okay to get touch ups done from a different artist than the one who actually did the piece? It's probably going to be a couple of years until I see my original artist again
It all depends on the artist and if they’re okay touching up someone else’s work. You’ll be paying for the touchup
I had a doubt, when extracting the skin can we see skin under the tattoo?
Well I’m screwed then I didn’t go swimming or anything but I did put too much Vaseline on then I tried to wipe the excess amount off 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️🤦♂️. Long story short my tattoo doesn’t look the same as it originally did and it is my first tattoo. I didn’t ask how much I should put on daily and yep I’m screwed.
My artist is gonna probably feel some type of way when I see her again after I heal up and want to try to get a touch up done
Your tattoos look amazing and I’m tryna get your size so I can fill out my tees lol
Hit the gym and eat 😉
if its a small tattoo could it be better to get all of it done again? so another color difference doesnt happen again after that
Can small tattoos be touched up like to make them thicker and bigger? Mines a small aries symbol and am a bit disappointed with the size and thickness so hoping to get it touched up to be a bit bigger and much thicker
Would you think that it would be reasonable to ask an artist, who is working on a new tattoo, to do a quick touchup on an existing tattoo? Or should I just book a new appointment altogether for the touchup alone? ik ur not an artist lol but I respect your opinion
I mean it never hurts to ask and see. Sometimes they might because they got the needle out already but it would have to be something very small. Again all depends on the artist and how they’re feeling
Nice vid
@JustINKD I have had this question for quite a while. How big should your arms be before you tattoo them? I am thinking about getting my first piece on the inside of my bicep, but I don’t want it to get ruined as I grow. I have 14in biceps that grew an inch in just over a year. I don’t plan to ever have biceps bigger than 17 in though.
I’d say if you have a decent sized arm then you’re good. The only time I see it being kinda bad is if you’re a toothpick and then get swoll. It’s always good to be bigger though because gives more surface area for the artist and less chance of you getting even bigger arms
You can watch monami frost on RUclips. She made a comparison before during and after being pregnant. It didn't affect her one bit
@@milliesaysokboomer Thank you! Will do
@@justinkd Alrighty, thank you! Also I love the videos
what u think about cover-up tattoos
I think if you can cover it up then definitely do it
This may be a dumb question but would stretch marks be harder to tattoo then a regular scar? Because I hit the gym and got bigger and have stretch marks on my pit area
So I’ve heard that yeah it is a little more sensitive in the areas that do have stretch marks but it is still doable it just might hurt more
I am doing a color Japanese sleeve and will need touch ups along the way. My artists will not charge me. Just got my chest done and it was very painful so I hope I don’t need it touched up.
Yeah some don’t charge when you’re getting a lot done by them and it’s done over time
So is it best to stay with the same artist to do a touch up
Yess. Any other artist will charge you for the touch up and it might slightly look alittle different because of that artist being different
How many times can a tattoo be touched up is there a limit??
I have a human figure that needs a major touch up. The original artist touched it up once and it got worse. So now I need to use scar serum on it a while before I can get it restored to what it looked like the first day I got it one off my new tattooers. It stinks.
Damn I’m sorry to hear that Thomas. What do you think happened for it to turn out like that
@@justinkd he overworked the skin to the point where it didn't hold the ink and I had a thick scab that was saturated and half the ink, just on the checkered shirt and his hair came off with it. It's a Lumbar Jack.
Helll Justin, first of all i love your videos and they help me in my decisons for my first tattoo. Now i have an appointment, but have a question? The Artist i wanna go to charges 750€ for half a calv. His normal hour price is 130€ but he said it will take up to 10 hours and because its a big piece he only charges the 750€. What to you think about this? And could i send you his instagram so that you look through his work ?
I mean sounds like you’re getting a deal if it’s going to take 10 hours and you’re only paying 750 where his hourly is 130
I was planning on getting a tiger sleeve on the top part of my forearm on my left arm but, I don't know if it's a good idea because what if i want something added onto it for a full sleeve in the future. I don't know if it'd look weird
I did mine a forearm tattoo

I dont know if you'll answer this but Im curious if you enjoy getting tattooed? Was watching one of those tattoo artist stories on yt and one of the questions was "do you enjoy the pain of getting a tattoo?" Guess a bunch of artist all pretty much said the same thing. They hate getting tattooed... blah, blah, blah, they only enjoy the final product, ect. I love the process. Except the healing process. Fuck the healing process! Cant peel cant scratch :(
I do enjoy getting tattooed. As much as the pain sucks it’s such a Fun experience to not only be in the seat talking to the artist having a fun time but also see the change in the area that you have a tattoo going from skin to a semi-don’t have to fully healed it’s such a fun and fulfilling experience 👌🏼
Is it possible to lighten up a tattoo got a arm piece of heaven gates and it looks so bold now its been 3 1/2 months but looks like I just got it
Do you plan on getting face or neck tattoos?
I don’t plan on having those areas done. Hands are a possibility though
@@justinkd i think neck tatts look so hard i want a red rose on my neck
It’s definitely hard but something you really need to think about
I have a sleeve right now but I want my whole sleeve redone by somebody else and add more designs over my current designs , do you think that’d be possible ?
Yes
Yeah you can do that as long as the artist you’re now going to is okay with it
Hey Justin! I am getting my tattoo touched up today and I am wondering how long I should wait before I exercise and begin sweating again? I don't mind taking a week off the gym to avoid bacteria, however, I would love to be able to do cardio or workouts at home to stay fit while it's healing- as long as the sweating won't make any of the ink fade out. What do you think?
A week should be good especially with a touch up
Did you ever decide if you're lasering your tiger to fix the flow of your arm?
That I still have not decided on yet I am definitely going to sit on that and think about it as much as I can before I make a decision it’ll definitely be something that is down the road
I got a tattoo just on the 16 of nov my tattoo artist told me not to take off my saniderm in 3-5 days is it normal
Technically and from their website you’re supposed to take it off after 24 hours clean it and then reapply a new layer then leave it on for six days for a total of seven days maximum but you can also leave it on the whole time as long as there’s no weeping under the skin
Thanks for the reply
We have to wait 2 weeks again for tuch ups or less
Yo wheres the link to your artist
When you're in there ask them how long how long it should be that you should wash your cat too that you had to be touched up
I will be getting my first tattoo at 20 how will i be ready for it pls reply
Just watch all my videos and you’ll be ready and prepared 💁🏼♀️
Is it common to get a touch up ?
Yeah it’s totally common
If you paying so much for it aren’t they suppose to touch it if you missing ink in some spots.
You would think but every artist is different and have different rules to it. I would say that majority will do it for you
Can you please show us what good meal you eat before u go get tatted
Yeah I can definitely do something like that 👌🏼
@@justinkd Thanks!
I just got my whole chest retouched up & boy was it a BITCH! I was able to locate my old artist in Hollywood who tattooed me! Now we’re going to be working on a traditional ship wreck on my stomach
You got lucky finding him and getting in touch. Are you paying for it?
Yes, I paid 300 dollars to get it re-done because it’s been 10 years. But I tipped him 100 because he’s a good friend.
Iv got faith in my artist that there won't be need of a touch up after few weeks
Sometimes though it’s all in the healing and nothing the artist really can do about that

I don’t but it all depends on the artist
