- On March 17, 2023, in the David Geffen Theater, the museum screened The Shining (1980), as part of the ongoing Spotlights series. Before the screening, Academy Award-winning director, animator, and editor Lee Unkrich discussed his new book _Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining_, the definitive compendium on the film that remains a haunting cinematic classic.
Written by J. W. Rinzler and published by Taschen in a limited collector’s edition of 1,000, the monumental book features hundreds of never-before-seen photographs, rare production ephemera from the Kubrick Archive, and extensive new interviews with the cast and crew. Unkrich provided a deep dive into the creation of his massive new book, including never-before-seen glimpses into the making of _The Shining_.

Wonderful. Thank you for sharing this, and bravo Lee on your accomplishment.
Now if everyone could just afford to buy the book.
Wow, this is all just solid GOLD; thank you for posting this! ✨
Thank you for this! I always suspected Kubrick thought it odd his initials and Kings were the same, as well as the Stanley Hotel!
This is just brilliant, thank you for sharing it. I can't wait for the day I can own this collection.

I loved the movie coco lee
Vivian Kubrick taped over 2-hours of behind the scenes coverage during filming that was edited down to 25-minutes by her father for the DVD Special Features. Does her entire VHS tape still exist?
At 21:02 he says there’s a tiny, frozen Jack. I don’t see it.
Look for the dark speck just right of center and above that long wall that runs horizontally.
This happened months ago. Why releasing it this late?
We're lucky it was released at all. I was there for the talk and I'm so glad it's available now. (I also bought the book. It's amazing.)
There was a shaky bootleg about it on YT. I saw it this summer (2023).
@@CraigGood I was there that night too. It was mindblowing, and this entire video only captures about half the intensity of being there in person. Now I just need to sell an organ to be able to afford that amazing book.
