I kind of suspect many of these masters of using projections, photo-transfer and doing tracings, now. Klimt included. The drawings are to work out the composition. But to do the actual work - he used "helps."
Mucha and others used photos. Klimt - never. By that, I mean, there's no evidence he ever did. He could draw brilliantly by age 14 and didn't want or need mechanical aids. No "helps" for Klimt!
