Thanks for this, Ben. The other day on a beach break where I could go left or right, I tried it both ways. The conditions turned choppy, cloudy, cool, and windy, though, mostly closeouts. So I took what I could get, just practicing popups, trying to enjoy and not stress about it. As always, good to see your collab or teachings w/Longboard Sessions, and this is a video I'll study on repeat.

Hey!! Absolutely no worries I hope you’re liking them and finding them useful 🙏🤙 No there’s no rules there! Can ride single fin of any type or 3 fin setup. The only thing regarding the criteria at the moment is it’s very much towards the traditional style of surfing so within that the single fins are really being scored higher, likely as they’re lending themselves to the traditional equipment/logs which are able to be better surfed to the criteria they’re judging against. But technically you can ride anything haha 🙏🤙
Ahh no worries at all hope they’re helpful and you like them!! Yeah 100% the fade takeoffs, extremely useful. They’re definitely for another vid, but just quickly here the fade takeoffs in my opinion are what allow longboarders to get deep and tight in the pocket off the takeoff, something that shortboarders can simply do with a straight takeoff but they can go later and drop with the lip because of their smaller equipment. Fade takeoffs 100% have their place and are important, both from a deep fade (allowing the bottom turn into a walk up the board or setup for top then) and the shallow fade (great for our noseride setups). With what I was working on for Brian it was more about getting the fundamentals right here, so the fade 100% is super important and definitely agree there, just a bit more advanced, and as goes with much of our progression, a bit at a time wins the race, Hope it’s helpful!!
