The Dutch own the market on female front women. Great reaction Jynger.
I was there, first row (no lie, no kidding') and this, 15 years later, remain my greatest concert memory ever.
Gotta love Sharon's relation with the audience, the way she intrracts with them, they way she gets the crowd to sing, jump, swing their arms in the air, etc. she has the entire crowd in the palm of her hand. Her stage presence is absolutely unmatched.
Also, the thing with Sharon she's adorable with the fans. When the concert is over she always comes see the fans waiting outside, takes pictures, signing autographs all that with a huge smile on her face. And if you have something to say to her, she will always listen carefully and answer you kindly. She's an absolute angel.
That’s awesome! I love when the bands interact with their fan base like that❤️ shows they really care. Makes me like her even more 😊
Sharon is always such a happy person and finds a way to resonate that with her surroundings. The pure innocence of her, yet accompanied with wisedom, just always gives me hope for the future. Gotta love her.
My only question is did you see that super hot brunette chick with the lovely face that the cameraman kept going to for a while on this DVD? That was a
""" Love at 1st sight""" face she had...
The DVD of this one-of-a-kind concert is one of the most prized in my collection. I have heard that some consider the goth-ness of this production to be dated - I think it is one of the best integrations of rock/metal and orchestra ever produced. The opening of the Ouverture morphing into Jillian is worth the price of admission. Lucky you for being there.
During this concert, Sharon sings a beautiful duet called "Somewhwere" with Anneke van Giersbergen, the godmother of female fronted bands in Netherlands. Enjoyed the reaction.
Sharon is an absolute goddess!! She does this incredible thing that I call 'hand dancing' that is simply one of the most graceful things I've ever seen. Within Temptation was my introduction to symphonic metal and I've been addicted ever since. I've seen WT live three times, once with Robert, composer, guitarist and Sharon's husband, who became a stay-at-home father so Sharon can tour. He's still critically involved in the recording studio, but seems to only appear on stage when they play in the Netherlands. Their whole catalog is incredible, very much like Nightwish, and they are on my 'never miss' list when they tour. Her voice is liquid crystal and perfect. Nice reaction, Jynger!
Thank you for this reaction. I enjoyed every moment of it 😁 In my opinion Within Temptations is one of the most impressive symphonic metal bands and the whole concert contains beautiful songs. The singer (sharon den adel) has such a great charisma. Btw.: At least my first name was pronounced correctly. The most english speaking people have problems with my last name
Sharon den Adel (not Adele)😁
@@louisminten7889 Ooops, sorry. You are right
You are very welcome! Thank you for a fantastic song choice! My apologies again on the name :)
Good choice, Henning!
The entire live Black Symphony DVD is incredible - very similar to the Nightwish DVD from Wacken 2013 - not a bad performance on the DVD
Jynger, another few Dutch female singers to go. After all, we have got a whole bunch of them. After Floor, Simone and just now Sharon, stil missing Charlotte Wessels from Delain, Marcela Bovio and the godmother of all Dutch metal women; Anneke van Giersbergen. I would say: carry on!
It might be a good idea to check out a few of them in this particularly video. Get those tissues ready. ruclips.net/video/TbebO5BZi-I/видео.html&ab_channel=ArjenAnthonyLucassen
As a German, I support that 🤘🏻
Marcela Bovio is mexican, even though She's aknowledged in dutch metal scene.
@@charliethetraveller Si hombre es la veridad pero ella esta en los Paises Bajos muchos anos y eso es para mi mas o menos ollandes, comprende? Saludos de Paises Bajos.
Or she could even just stick with Sharon and be content for the rest of her days!!!!!!! I do love Delain's brand new singer though, although she is very pretty Romanian, not Dutch
Amazing performance; Sharon den Adel is FIRE on stage and your voice is an ANGEL!!! Thanks and Greetings fron Argentina!!!
Yes, another great female singer from the Netherlands 🇳🇱🤘🏻🍀
Great recommend you did here, and phenomenal band. Sharon is the greatest commander of symphonic metal on stage. Bit of background for you Jynger, Sharon was raised in Bali, and she from her youth was fascinated by the Balinese dancers and how their movements with their arms were beautiful to her and so she conducts a lot of this now in her performing years on stage and why her movements are so beautiful, commanding and graceful. She also designs all her performing outfits. Doing these performances with choirs and orchestra is so difficult and expensive. I only see WT and the great Epica doing it now and then. Within Temptation is just commencing USA tour with Iron Maiden. The commanding Epica is touring USA right now with Sabaton.
At first, i even didn't want to hear about rock, not even mentioning symphonic subgenres. Who whould have thought that it would be my favourite type of music. It's like .... once you go black, you never go back.
Man if this don't cheer you up nothing will love her voice the music is great this band kicks ass
Dutch women, you must love them
I remember the days of my gothic youth. It was 2005-2007. Then Within Temptation and Nightwish "walked together" among the most popular bands of goth lovers. At that time, Tarja was still singing in Nightwish. I personally like the most Within Temptation the studio albums - "Mother Earth" (2000), "The Silent Force" (2004) and "The Heart of Everything" (2007). They are the most gothic and symphonic in sound. Even songs and clips such as "Memories" or "Frozen" show this aesthetic. And the songs from these albums were recorded with the symphony orchestra. Albums since 2013 already differ in their modern sound with notes of "futurism". Although I like how Sharon den Adel records vocal duets with many famous artists.
Personally I feel that the most gothic metal album of WT is their first album 'Enter' (1997). The pace is slower, the songs are more intricate ('Candles' !!!), not to forget Robert Westerholt's growls that contrast nicely with Sharon's angelic voice, giving 'Enter' these beauty-vs-beast vibes which are typical for gothic metal, very similar to Theatre of Tragedy.
@@danilolapierre5610 enter album is so underrated but the doom influences make it absolutely brilliant.
Great song. Title track, and 3rd single, from their 2nd album in 2000. This has become one of their signature tunes.
The album's 2nd single, Ice Queen, was their commercial breakthrough. If you want to listen to that, it was performed at this same Black Symphony concert.
on stage, Sharon is my female Freddie Mercury.
You need to know that she was ill that day! And still this was a stellar concert!
He wasn't actually ill that day she had just regained her voice that morning from having it oddly go away a couple days prior.... So if you had no rehearsal... Not even the morning of the show because she had just got it back and allowed it to save her for the show.
This concert lasted 4 hours to create this 2 hour dvd.... I think they cut out 3 songs from the final DVD show production.
Thank you, Jynger, for reacting to "Mother Earth", one of WT's signature songs. "Mother Earth" was the very first WT song I ever heard. It was in 2002 or 2003 when I was browsing comics in a comic book store. The shopkeeper started playing the full "Mother Earth" album which starts with this title song. I was like: "Wow, this is great.", and stayed in the shop for the full album. Needless to say I was instantly hooked. I have seen WT three times live since then, and they've never disappointed me, despite moving away from their roots as a gothic/symphonic metal band to a more commercially oriented electro/power metal sound.
Personally, I prefer their original style, and if I have to give recommendations that'd be songs like "The Promise", "Jillian (I'd Give My Heart)", "The Truth Beneath The Rose", "Hand Of Sorrow", or "Somewhere" all from the Black Symphony live album. For contrast, very good power metal songs by WT are: "In The Middle Of The Night" and "Dangerous" (feat. Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage) both in the studio versions though.
Within Temptation with a big orchestra (live): Watch *_"Somewhere"_* ft. Anneke van Giersbergen (the "mother" of Dutch metal) : ruclips.net/video/7eqBmEO5MHE/видео.html&ab_channel=joncalin
And don't forget the Dutch singer Zora Cock from BlackBriar 🤘
My bright shining light Sharon. Flowing the energy🤘and always making me happy😊
Sharon has gone thru some different vocal eras. From ultra high head voice to a more powerful chest voice. Great stuff. See you again very soon JyngerSlapz.
Awesome, more WT plz!
Any song goes, but Enter, title song of their first album I can especially recommend
Very nice reaction Jynger. This is becoming one of my favorite genres of music.
