This accident was not solely caused by speed. The driver was in his 60s and may have had a serious medical emergency, that is why it says says on the sticker sudden death. It just goes to show that no one knows when their time is up. May he rest in peace
It's not that weird. They stay in police impound for quite a while in many situations.
Really bad crash. We've had a few here and the results are never good. Condolences to his friends and family.
As to why it can take a long time, the vehicle was evidence for some sort of legal action. Some cases take years to resolve.
My guess is that this accident may not have been caused by just speed. The driver of the Chrysler was in his 60s and may have had a medical issue , may the deceased rest in peace and condolences to his family

I'm sure it looks a lot worse because they had to cut away parts of the car to get the driver out, but it still probably didn't look too good before being cut up. Trees and very strong utility poles are no joke to crash into specifically if its the roof.
I think those thinner wooden utility poles may be designed to snap, so they are probably not as bad to crash into. But the big metal ones for holding up heavy signs or traffic lights are gonna be as bad as trees
