Me to , I met my love when I was 13 married at 16 , and we have been together for almost 42 years and we have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren , we are so blessed
Hey Matt- WOW, honesty, vulnerability, integrity, reflective tendeness still grounded in reality, humor, WOW ... YES ! Setting high standards for defining a "man" for your own little girl to possibly measure her own relationships in the future. We don't parent perfectly ever, because this human experience offers lots of opportunities for experiencing our lives, opportunities for deciding daily "Who am I today?" AND dang our kids have free will just like we do! In retrospect and reflection as a parent, with a grown child well on his own, maintaining those esteemable characteristics of being a parent (to the best of One's ability) really matters when all is said and done. Your channel offers ample opportunity to make big ripples in the World! Those ripples can stir up the mucky bottom, gently lap the shores or can even change the shoreline! A big Thank you for all the kids with parents who are watching your channel - you just expanded our collective dialogue! 👍💖
My first love was when I was 16. I’m 53 now I have been with him ever since then ! It has been a lot of ups and downs. We have struggled very hard. We’ve lost a son 7 years ago and it bought ripped us apart. We have struggled very much financially since then, but I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to do this with anybody else. It’s been 38 years we have been married. Thank you for sharing.❤😊
Loved getting to know you a bit better. Thank you for sharing! I'm divorced after 19 years and afterwards it took me a while to be grateful for those years in my life that were filled with fun times and happy memories too. Thank you for reinforcing that it's okay to remember those times. 💜
I love all of your videos, but I'm really looking forward to more of these, you're a great person Matthew and we look forward to getting to know you better!
Thanks for taking me back down memory lane to my first love. I don't think anything will ever live up to it. The love for our parents and children is totally different, but special in its own right. This was a really nice video, Matthew.
I eased into your world toward the end of the last chapter. I now watch each night as a wind down before going to sleep. I find these episodes somehow comforting, a little familiar but also not so much. I’m moving between life chapters right now and it’s cool to see how someone else approaches what I am finding to be profound change. I just wanted to chime in from the sidelines and say that I appreciate your approach to presenting your storyline of the human condition. It’s unique, nuanced, cool. One of the things I love about RUclips is if you dig around through the junk you can find a lot of great stories from ordinary people just living their lives. I’m glad I found your corner and I’m here for wherever the journey goes.
Matthew, you are an excellent story teller. My first love was unrequited. I'm looking forward to the candle series, as I'm going to call it. Thank you, as always, for sharing.
thanks for this--just you being you--I loved this episode--and those who didn't choose to not remember their young love experiences--at 77 memories are lots of what I have--thanks for sharing yours
Matthew you are a true romantic! I met my first love at 17. We had a son at 20..my son just turned 51...you actually have his chuckle and sound just like his laugh.....thank you for sharing your story. Your facades are comical and humor often has me cracking up..... you're my favorite goofball! 😆
Wow, what a great video Matthew - your certainly are a fabulous storyteller, you took me right back there, to those amazing feelings. Look forward to more of these.❤
Amber!! is a lot how you describe.. beautiful face, freckles, big green eyes.. A lovely coincidence many years later..🤩 Plus many memories to come on video. lovely , thanks Matthew ❤
Thanks Matt, I enjoyed your story . I lived in the era of Woodstock, Free Love and parents who expected us to sit on each end of the couch with no touching...ha. Met my 1st love at 15, dated 8 years, married for 50. Thanks for taking me back, looking forward to more.
I admire your courage in being so honest and transparent. You are a wonderful person and I must admit watching your videos is like spending time with a friend. Please keep being you, you bring such a positive and heartwarming joy to so many people.
Oh how I'm looking forward to this series Matthew. Every relationship shapes us, makes us who we are and yes it is definitely ok to remember the good times of past relationships and not just dwell on the bad. Much love to you young man ❤
That was very introspective. Looking back on things with all the gained life experience mellows them a bit I think and I wonder if you were savoring that as you spoke? Thank you for trusting us enough to share this.
Yes! I’ve been waiting to hear more back story. Thank you so much for sharing Matthew! And you did it so beautifully. The open reminded me of your first video, but then your sense of calm and clarity really shows how much you have (dare I say it)… matured. I really look forward to more!
Well, well, well....the man speaks of love and loss.... and paints a lovely portrait with it as well. Thanks for taking me into a story of young love and all of the emotions that go with it. I thoroughly enjoyed this . Because, like you say, don't let the ending take away from the wonderful moments. Good lesson there, and it actually made me adjust my memory bank a bit, because I think it was a bit off kilter!! Can't wait for the next..
Being candid with this part of your life was nice! I’m 54 and finally met my soulmate 16 years ago! Married for 14 years. It’s raw at times. It’s part of life. Thank you for putting this vlog out the way you did it. Makes you think about that part of our lives. Stay safe, Stay Warm, always laugh!😂
I truly ENJOYED these heartfelt memories ...and they certainly brought back a few of my own. LIFE'S experiences, even in our youth ...do DEFINITELY shape us into the adult individuals that we become. I did TRULY enjoy this share (watched it twice👍👍) ...and I do look forward to the rest of this story!👍🤗💖😇
My first love was at 13.. we were together for 4 years. We are still friends and I’m 57. Better friends than romantic partners but yes those good memories with your first love are absolute treasures!
Well didn’t see this one coming! First love, yep!!! You are such the story teller whether with your words and your videos. Thanks for sharing Matthew, so love that you are comfortable enough sharing with us all. ❤️❤️
Yes indeed…each relationship, Romantic or otherwise, is a building block to who we become….although hard to see while happening, being in my 60s now I can look back and see the trail left behind as well as the evolution of Me! 😊 Having one real love for 33 years…marriage…kids…a lifetime of memories as well as a loss due to his passing beyond measure …and now still searching for the new normal…yes still stepping through stones seeking the full circle
I was waiting for this one to drop. I'm the over-sharer in the group; my tendency is to want to give my perspective of teen life and reminiscing, but I'm getting used to your process, so I'll just sit here and listen. 🤨🤫🤭
I was very blessed to marry my best friend. We had a wonderful 22+ years of true love and friendship. But he got suddenly ill and passed away. It’s been the most difficult time in my life. There are days (well you can guess)… 😢 However, I will go on, (I am a hopeless romantic) but our time was too short. 🙏🏼❤️ I’m praying for you to find true love again. ❤️🙏🏼
...Very telling story of the body chemicals flowing and the euphoria that comes with it. Go for it at 39 because the next thing will be you at 65 wondering what the hell happened. Thank you, Matthew.
You are truly a storyteller. This video, even more than your others, completely drew me in and I was listening intently and reminiscing of similar stories of my youth. Those hard-to-explain feelings, I totally get what you're describing. IYKYK.
Finally! Story time of the past. Love it! I’ll be waiting for more while hanging on this cliff hanger ending. I need to know about the ring on the necklace. Love hearing your past for some reason. I guess following you for couple years now, I feel like I know you as a close friend and I like to learn your past as that’s what made the Matthew we all know & love today. Keep the awesome videos rolling out as your close subscribers will be patiently waiting!
Every relationship can teach us something if we let it. I have had some great, as well as not so pleasant, relationships yet I look back with fondness and laughter and positive stories because each man that entered and left my life taught me something valuable. And the one who meant the most to me taught me to love myself as he did and that I mattered and was special, before he passed away. He was my night in shining armour. Thank you for sharing something as intimate and defining as your first love. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels honoured. ❤
Wow, talk about hitting you right in the feels. Thank you Mr. Allen for sharing your life and finding new ways to connect with us and making it so easy to relate. Thank you sir.
Thank u remember life is now and the past are memories. Memories r what we r .Glad to have seen this vid and how you do more in future I have tales to tell from the rock and roll days but in the Woodstock era I met my wife at a time when all was sh#t in relationships We are about to celebrate 53 years together . As always keep up the good vids and Keep on Cooglin 😛
Matthew so well done! Hold on to the good memories regardless of the outcome. Each relationship is meant to teach us more about ourselves. Looking forward to more insight videos, be proud of the "hopeful" not hopeless romantic ! Your storytelling comes from a beautiful place Matthew!
First loves are the ones that will always have our hearts. Things move on due to many circumstances, but if the need for affection is still needed, we move on with our lives. No one can be the first love you once had, but they can eventually your soul mste/forever friend/love. Moving forward is a far better alternative than constantly looking back on bad times. Repetition in ares may be your best bet in finding another, regardless of having to move from place to place. Cheers and we all love this channel for you and the joy you bring us!!!
I met my true love in 1961. He is now 78, me 77 and thru his 2 marriages and my 3, we are best friends. My Mother told me tears ago that we would never be together but always friends. She was right
I had a similar experience, as I'm sure we all have. My oldest son is named after my first love. Just don't tell my hubby. 😂 I'm surprised you didn't name Brooklyn after her.
So often a romance that begins in the teen years ends because ... that time is so developmental for both parties. You're both learning to be adults and ... you change. But damn ... wasn't it sweet! Been there. Thank you so much for sharing. I've always known you were a mush pot. Such a human.
Great vlog. Sadly my first love died in a motorcycle crash on the day we got engaged, I was 17 he was 19, I'm 65 now so can talk about him I just don't like motorcycles no more. I often wonder how long we would have been together. I've been married twice since, 12 years both times, none of the divorces were my fault, the first used to beat me up the second became alcoholic. Now I'm single and staying that way, I'm happy apart from illness prevents me working so money is very scarce. Xx
Oh the ring, the ring, the ring….. that video made me feel something alright….like I wish I was 20 years younger….from a Red ish blonde LOL. 😂😅. In all seriousness great one Matt. We can all relate for sure !
My first love was Bruce Willis. I can't say I've had much success in relationships since then, and then in 2016 I discovered I do better on my own so I have been blissfully happy single since then, which is a far cry from everyone else in my immediate family who all enjoy the long term relationships I just couldn't seem to find.
Swimming pools, tracks to run around (inside) We still have them in Oklahoma. I have been single for about 35/37 years. I will leave this earth that way too. But, I am blessed. I really mean that. To have had those two awesome boys of mine for 18 and 28 years. My daughter lives in Colorado with her family. She loves the mountains. They'll never come home to Oklahoma. She hikes 14,000 ft. peaks. My grandsons look so pooped in the pictures I have of them hiking those trails. :-) She just looks ready to go again! One tough young lady! I love them a whole whole bunch! Gosh, you've got me looking back at years and years of life. Some really fun and awesome - some, welllllll - not so good. But I have a journey facing me! We all do. Gosh what are we gonna do???? All kinds of fun things to do. Places to see. But I always like to return home! Oh yeah. It's true home is where the heart is!!! God Bless you Matthew!
Oh first loves. My first love and I remain good friends after 50 years! We stayed together for three years! There was talk of marriage even, it was something. I appreciate your openness about your first love. Good video Matthew, first loves stay with us forever.🍀🤗
My first love's name was Rick. We had been friends since elementary school and started dating in the tenth grade. That moment I thought we would be together forever we were sitting at a campfire just snuggled next to each other holding hands. He used to mindlessly rub my palm with his thumb-I still miss that time. My mom still asks me how he is doing. I think she was certain he was the one too ... Yeah, THAT was a bad break-up. This brought back those feels...THANKS MATTHEW!!! Just kidding, great video - just don't make me cry again 🤗
Lmao 😂 toxin 😆 Freudian slip there amigo? Hilarious but yes, thank you for this topic. I'm 60 and still feel something to this day. I got married late, at 39. I was planning on never getting married, and then ... bam!
I'm hooked on your story and can't wait to hear more! ❤ I've been married twice and have had a few serious relationships, but have been hurt everytime. I'm happy and content with being single. 💃
I met my Boyfriend when I was fifteen, got engaged at sixteen started saving for a semi detached house in the uk,got married at seventeen had two lovely children after four years then left the uk when our daughter was three and our son was two to live in Newzealand we have been married fifty years and my husband and I and our children and grandchildren and great grandchild, are all very close as a family.
Your story is nice in the sense of knowing how you felt from a man's perspective. Men don't often share deep feelings like that. First love is wonderful! Unfortunately, they usually don't last. Fortunately, there are more to come and those deep wonderful feelings return. Hope you find your forever love.❤ I think you would be a real catch! 😉
Thank you, now stop invading my dreams with your sexy self lol. I loved this story, it goes to show some men do actually have a sensitive side. Very sweet of you to share. Again, thank you for sharing.
I met my spouse when I was 16, almost 42years together and 3 children later they still make my heart sing 😊
Same here, I met my wife at 17 we have been together ever since and I’m 61 now, she still makes my heart smile
Me to , I met my love when I was 13 married at 16 , and we have been together for almost 42 years and we have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren , we are so blessed
Same here me and my wife met as young teenagers and we are still together today 43 years later and we wouldn't have changed a thing. 😊
You're so fortunate M
LOL😅
I love how you began this video. My kids dad was that one for me. He was my first and only until he died.

Yes first loves are special indeed. I still have a photo of mine when we were in GR 12 and this is now 41 years later. Thanks for another great video.

Beautifully narrated and I love the symbolism, aka romanticism. Thank you Matthew.💖
Thank you so much for sharing that story and experience with us!

Nothing last forever it comes and go. Always look out what is best for you , love yourself more everyday. Everything will be fine.
You are truly a storyteller. This video, even more than your others, completely drew me in and I was listening intently and reminiscing of similar stories of my youth. Those hard-to-explain feelings, I totally get what you're describing. IYKYK.
Wow. The sweetest video I’ve ever seen.
Matthew, I love this story. Superbly told! And I cannot help but be biased to redheads, being one. Red rules :-)

Hello from Beautiful British Columbia
Canada 🇨🇦 😊❤😂🎉
Keep talking…we are listening.😊
Phew, 3 days to catch up on videos lol because I couldn't watch for a bit with my best friend visiting and we were busy.
Great intro!
Lmao 😂 toxin 😆 Freudian slip there amigo? Hilarious but yes, thank you for this topic. I'm 60 and still feel something to this day. I got married late, at 39. I was planning on never getting married, and then ... bam!
Maybe now we'll finally learn the story behind the ring on the necklace. Lol. 😁
That was very sweet 😀
Hmmmm. Where's Chelsea now, Matt??! 🤔🤔😁👍💖

you never forget ur first love.. thanks..
Great story.
