About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on RUclips videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!
Sweet and a chocolate family!!👍🏾Inspration!!!!!!!👐🏾👐🏾
I love Xavier and Serina's reaction to their bus! Priceless! I can't wait until we can do a skoolie. Keep up the good work! The buses you guys work on always come out great!
Do you realize that was the first black couple I've ever seen on a homesteading channel. Way to go brother.
In your opinion, are people of color just not into it or just under represented?
Hi Darryl, That's a tough one. I think there are not many homesteading. I am sure they are out there! Come to think of it have you seen any Mexican homesteaders other than ourselves? haha! Thanks Darry I hope you have a good week!
Nope, You guys are the first.
Wait, you guys are Mexican? 😂
yes, Believe it or not! haha!
+Darryl Allen...."Under represented"! YES. There's MANY others out there. But they don't "fit" the PC narrative on YT. I have a young black couple that lives on and cares for MY 'homestead' when I travel. Everybody wins. In fact, I'm 61 and my sons don't want it, so this place is theirs when this old 'white man' dies. (No, they don't know that). Darryl....Forget the 'brainwashing'. 99.9% of white people don't give a fig what color your skin is. We DO respect a good attitude, honesty, and a good work ethic, REGARDLESS of what the race baiters want you to believe. This is STILL the greatest nation on earth. You can achieve ANYTHING you want to here. All ya gotta do is start to WORK for it and we'll HELP ya. Simple as that. I don't feel I owe anybody except respect where earned and this young couple I have here has earned every bit of mine.
singleman very profound words to live by! I'm a African American woman in my fifties, and I've already started thinking about scaling down even more but the only concerned for me is finding a permanent home spot which I will probably have to buy the land to park my bus tiny house, trailer or whatever I we'll decide to live in quality of life is more important than material possessions health, happiness and wholeness is the key. May God continue to bless you 60 more years.
The last family's reaction to the bus you built for them, brought tears to my eyes..the way they oohed n awed over the entire build and the running of their hands over the surfaces of the bus, you just know that they LOVE and appreciate the work that went into this..Now if I had done all this work, that right there, seeing their reaction to it, would have made it all worth it❤️❤️❤️👍
Great conversion and beautiful, young, and energetic family. I hope they start a RUclips channel. I'd watch!
thanks! yes, they are really cool people!
NICE feature/subject. I gotta pass respect and encouragement on to those youngsters. When I became a widower, I did the "mobile" living spaces for 10 YEARS, (while I healed), until I, (thought I'd), flushed the "wanderlust" out of my system and found where I thought I wanted to plant permanent roots. But, believe it or not, after 17 years of building my 'homestead' here, the horizon is again pulling at me..... At 61 years old! Never say never. Life is a constant adventure, and each day is a gift from the creator. And I've grown tired of looking at the same sunrise. Crazy? Maybe......
Not crazy! Go live it man! :) thanks!
singleman Absolutely NOT crazy!!! You have to do what your spirit calls you to do. I’m actually looking for something new myself and I’m 50. I REALLY want to find someone who would let me park my RV, tiny home, something, on their land and we work said land together. I could pay a fee for being there of course but we could grow it together. My health isn’t grand due to MS so I have a lot of pain but I’m tougher than most. I can still do a lot, it just might take me a little longer. Plus, if they have children I can help with them as well. I’ve looked into a couple “homestead communities” but so far they’ve been rip offs, OR WORSE...Big Ag!!! No way will I take part in damaging the earth even more than it is! What I want is out there. Somewhere. I just have to find it. You have to follow your heart. If it’s calling you to travel...DO IT! Do what makes you happy. We have one life to live. As long as we’re not hurting others we should find a way. I’m not giving up. You shouldn’t either. We are RUclips pals now...LOL...you can do whatever you set your mind to! I’m keeping you in prayer. ~Lisa
+Yer awesome gal. Thanks for the encouragement. Follow your heart and I'll follow mine. Our paths just may cross some day. Hugs are always welcome.

Insane!! I could totally see our family doing this... but we would need like one of those double decker monstrosities from across the pond in ye olde London town. There are 7 of us... but I could totally imagine it!
We know a family of 9 living in a bus conversion full time for over two years. & they LOVE IT! :) thanks!
OK now I'm jealous.
so nice to see a black couple doing this
That was a great video. Thank you.
What an amazing, feel good video. :)
Congratulations😀😀😀😀
It would have been nice to have gotten Justin to drive up and drop off his bus for the day - he may have been able to sell it there
❤❤❤❤ I'm next
Would love a tour of the blue bus home.
Love seeing other ethnicities joining the movement. I would love to do a mini/mid sized conversion with the wheel chair lift for 1 month getaways. somehow have a garage for my dirtbikes and a studio apartment with shower/kitchen/toilet. Do you think this is possible? What is the smallest size school bus or charter bus I could get away with for this project?
I lovr the woodwork 💥
GORGEOUS😍
Love it!!
How much would it cost in total to build one...
Where are your open house?
Have Adventurine considered not a raise bed
Looking for a city bus really want Illinois pace bus.
If you ever have another open house again, how can we participate? I would live to show off our self built skoolie and see others builds as well...
Follow Blue Ridge Conversions on Facebook and Instagram. thanks!
Beautiful conversion!
What kind of gas mileage do those buses get?
not sure i have not drove one. I can ask. thanks!
Jason do you renovate buses?
keith weedt yes, with Jeff. Thanks!
What's the ballpark price for something like this? I know their all prolly different but ballpark
Mama Poirier nicely done between 30k & 50k, including the price of the bus itself.
So you built Justin's bus.
keith weedt jeff built justins bus. I worked only a couple days on it.
I always wonder what careers homesteading people were into? Are they all independently wealthy? Or surfer dudes that go with the flow and are happy to get $4 to buy hot dogs? 😄
I used to wonder the same thing until I became one. Hard work.
@@SowtheLand - hahaha
So how do clients get their buses to you? They drive it from wherever they live? I am really looking into this but probably a year from actually executing my plans.
👀👀❤❤🙏🙏
You guys ever look into using an HRV in place of the Exhaust fans? I am thinking about it and if you can keep the air moving without losing heat or cooling it should help with moisture problems?
