The railway today runs from Beighton to Rotherham. At Treeton North Jn there was a branch via Catcliffe to Tinsley; there was also a branch from the sidings in Treeton which led to the local pits. Access to the former station was from the road bridge alongside the footbridge you walked over
Only used to pass through Treeton when travelling on the old Sheffield Corporation Route 15 Dinnington to Sheffield Pond Street. Another pit village that's fallen on hard times but at least it looks cleaner than Maltby. Thanks Tim, you're keeping an old man's memories alive.
Didn't know there was a 15 to Sheffield via Treeton Roy. No 18 to Doncaster and the bus service now takes 2 hrs. Only one Sheffield bus X5 takes a hour.
@@timawells It was obviously taken out of service but was certainly operating from 544 to 59 when i left. There was also a Sheffield Corporation single decker service, the route number eludes me but i believe it went through Swallownest to Sheffield. The Corporation buses always turned round at The Falcon and went via South Anston and Kiveton,
@@roysaywell2138 I remember 215, 206, 208 and 85. All gone. We also had X3, X4, X5 to Sheffield. Only X5 left, but rather than being 30 mins it can be a hour and 10 minutes. Saturday afternoon we have one bus a hour.
