Well Workforce did break the track record at Epsom for the Derby so the horse definitely got gears, I think the King George won by Harbinger was the perfect storm, the winner was insanely good that day, one best middle distance performances I have ever seen, took off like a jet fighter 2 out, Workforce just didn’t seem to have that burst of speed he had to win the Derby hence why you could have got a nice juicy 10/1 a few days before the race if you forgave the Ascot run.
It's a shame the ground went against him and he had to be scratched out of the Breeders Cup Turf field at Churchill Downs or I think Workforce would've been the first Arc winner to also win the BC Turf in the same year instead of Enable. After he was scratched, I thought the Aga Khan's Bekhabad was the best horse left in the field and he only ended up finishing 3rd on that hoof rattling ground. If you'll recall, Dangerous Midge who was nothing more than a glorified handicapper ended up winning the race with Dettori in the saddle. Had he gotten to run, I think it's very likely Workforce would've had wins in the Epsom Derby, Arc, & BC Turf all from 2010 on his career record. And lest we forget, just a few months later at Meydan, the BC Turf winner Dangerous Midge finished last of 14 and the BC Turf 2nd, Champs Pegasus finished 12th of 14 in the Dubai Sheema Classic.
@@JSB-IZ-ME , Your right that Workforce didn't have that instant burst of speed. It took him a bit to get rolling and then he was like a runaway train. Especially his Epsom run. Though a quality horse for sure, I personally think Harbinger was an Ascot course specialist. The two times he blew apart the field were both at Ascot in the Hardwicke Stakes & King George. Had he gotten to run in the Arc I wouldn't have backed him to win the race and he may not have even hit the board against this field, IMO.
Good run. as rough a race as you'll ever see. See Workforce chop up 3-4 of the horses on his inside at 2:20. I guess some would call it making your own luck?
At the time I thought Sarafina was unlucky but having watched it again I am not so sure she would have won. She was bumped and had to snatch up but once out in the open she wasn't gaining on the first two in the last 100 yards. I think she may still improve as a four year old though and hopefully we will see her over here (England) at some stage this season maybe in the King George or Yorkshire Oaks.
@HadleyReisMC the reason that i am going for st nicholas abbey is because the arc suits horses with a serious turn of foot which is why i also like the look of workforce , and instead of calling us 'mugs' you could say what you think will win
@MsTommyn Not sure which WFA race you're referring to. The Cox Plate is run many different ways. Have you ever seen Bonecusher and Our Waverley Star's CP in 86? The pace was on from half way and they sprinted for nearly 1000m. And as for size, who are you kidding? SYT is about as vulnerable as an All-Black front rower.. He's more than big enough to take care of himself. What could beat him is his inability to settle. Against the world's best speed-stayers he is likely to come unstuck.
@GBeret83 For sure, Fame and Glory is a top horse, a very, very good yardstick. I think it is odd that they are campaigning him for the Ascot Gold Cup this year, he hasn't been at his best in his two starts over the longer trip so far this season. So You Think has visually been very impressive so far this year, and I really expect him to do very well. BUT until he faces the top rivals we can't really say. Very exciting though.
Was a good win, and ride. pretty much stuck to the fence whole trip, But that Japanese horse was stuck out 3 wide for most of the race and only lost by a head..
@friedmanwouldcry I'd be interested to hear what u think now. SYT easily accounted for WF in the Eclipse. The one shame is that we can't draw a line back through Rewilding after the POW. I really hope that they point SYT at the Arc after the Champion Stakes. The Arc would suit SYT down to the ground with his racing style. If there is a fair clip on their is nothing racing that could live with him over the last 2F. That said, Treasure Beach has certainly franked Pour Moi's Derby win?
@HadleyReisMC incase you forgot, my pick was actually st nicholas abbey, who was sixth not bad for a mug compared to you who didn't pick anything and instead just decided to mock my pick
Well, although it's pure hypothesis - Harbinger should have taken this field apart. He ran away with the King George and broke the course record .What a dreadful shame he never ran again. Better than any of these on the day.
Thought the run for 2nd was the run of the race, poor thing did everything but hang on and win. Don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to seeing Workforce go up against So You Think. *tingles*
im going for st nicholas abbey, great horse excellent turn of foot and if he gets a good run then i think he'll win despite whatever they're rating him at just now, i was going to go for workforce(because i picked him last year),but i just cant see him winning it twice in a row i mean i cant remember the last time that happened?
Fame and Glory would certainly have been right in the mix at the finish, but I do think Workforce would have beaten him, just. Sarafina was the horse to take out of the race I felt. Should be a really good Arc in 2011 if they all turn up fit and healthy.
Prediction for 2011 Arc. 1. Masked Marvel 2. Workforce 3. So You Think 4. Hiruno d'Amour feel free to have a good laugh at me when it all goes horribly wrong.
Workforce will start as favourite for the Arc 2011 and RIGHTLY SO... If its a clean Race I think Workforce has too much for anyone else... but if it get bump n grindy then there's 4 or 5 who could win.
really dissapointed with aiden obrien using an irish derby and runner up in epsom derby as a pacemaker disgraceful really the horse earned his proper shot at the arc. didnt bet on it i backed so you think and snow fairy ew thort so you think needed to be run closer to the pace but dont take anything away from the winner she did it well.
I dont think Workforce ever really gets the credit he deserves for wining the Derby and the Prix de l`arc
Spot on bud - a really brave winner of the Arc - going backwards in the false straight but went for every gap and stayed on well

Well said totally

Thanks, now I can reload this race into my playlist. RUclips removed the previous one.
What a ride

Workforce isn't the same animal this year so that form line is a red herring.

@SCOTTinHd1 Absolutely, he was never put in the race with any sort of chance. I don't know what Ryan Moore thought he was doing.
@friedmanwouldcry yeh it does actually mate
@tanderin1 i cant find that post but judging by what shit he's been talking so far, it wouldn't surprise me
@mark1995cfc that is so long as they don't use him as a pacemaker

At least all of them participated. Not a bad pick.

@GBeret83 nakayama festa or reliable man i think will win arc

Fame and Glory got bumped badly and so did Cape Blanco a couple of times, messy race.
2011 winner = Nathaniel or Workforce
