I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Matt, I believe Mepps should put you on their bass team, you just sold a couple hundred thousand of their new spinners. At least they should send you a royalty check. One of your best ever videos, thank you.

I'm sold on these. Now I just have to order some to try. I still use the older Mepps spinners and love the Black Fury. I tried some of the new Mepps hair jigs this spring and knocked the heck out of the walleye. The most beautiful hair jig I've ever seen. I just wish the hooks were a little more stout and could withstand more than a few fish. They got bent up too easily and were a little soft. I think I'll try the perch color Bronze Slammer in Lake Erie for walleye.

This takes me back to my roots for sure. I grew up on a river that had been damed for a drinking water reservoir, and the dam attracted many fisherman from the local city, but mostly for catfish and whatever would bite. A few of the more "advanced" fisherman would throw Mepps spinners, , and every once in a while they would catch a nice bass or pike, that most did not think existed. One of the few mail order type tackle companies in the early 60's, was Netcraft., and I discovered at 6 or 9 that I could purchase the components to build my own Mepps spinners rather inexpensively .... that is how it all started for me, and am still tinkering making m own baits 60 years later ... the company is now Jann's Netcraft!

I have a couple dozen of them in a variety of colors, pretty much all with the "dressed" hair tail. I am a big fan of the "baitfish" colors. Beautiful Smallies! I'm hitting up Maine this week and I always bring my Mepps #5's as well as the Bucher Tails. There are just some days when the pike/chain picks are so aggressive you just can't fish anything they can bite off. At least without a steel leader. Actually have to have a steel leader on the frogs when I'm fishing most areas, lose too many otherwise. Love fishing those tannic colored rivers btw. Thanks for the vid!

Before I start making spinnerbaits and jigs for.myself and then as a small business. I started by making inline spinners. Caught a ton of fish on them. They even made them with a single hook as well to be more weedless. With that said you could make your own with a single straight shank flipping hook or an EWG and rig it with soft plastic to make it weedless. Something Bass would not see thrown in vegetation or wood.

Awesome! Buy some up! Mepps is good old wisconsin company thats been making fish catching baits for a LONG time! Im not sure if they still do it but they used to buy squirrel tails for their spinners and advertised in all the fishing magazines.

@@MattStefanFishing I’m pretty sure they are still buying tails from hunters. What an awesome company they are.

Awesome video! I’ve always been a big believer in in line spinners for a multitude of species. I’ve always done good with the Joe Fly Spinner brand. It’s a Walleye and White Bass killer. However this is a nice solid option. May have to pick some up.

Awesome day on the water!!👊🏻 Used to do good with the in-line spinners for trout but not for bass. May have to try the Bronze Slammer and get Slammed!!! Happy 4th to you & the family!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!

Great video sir! Always curious about new products! Maybe you can tinker around and come up with a weedless version?!?! Very woody and weedy here in the CA delta! Lmk? Looking forward to the next video! 👊

Yah spinners are steady producers. But it is always important to remind new fisherman there is no one miracle bait. Panther martins are my favorite the convex blade is less likely to be stopped by weeds. They are great for weed edges and tossing into small pockets. But if bigger bass want top water or slow bottom, spinners will often just get you a lot of bluegill and young bass. If a lure type aint working change it.'' It's not what you want, its the consumer!'' (Joe Dirt reference)

Great video Matt. How many fish did you catch that day? Holy cow!
Can you tell me how often are you retying in order to make sure you aren't losing lures with all those pike catches?
    Thanks for the video.

Hey Matt, a worm I think you should check out!!! Remember the inu rig them you had your better version with twist lock in the tail. This worm make all those obsolete. Osp mmz deca, a 13" twisted extra realistic worm, also great colors. I just got a couple packs of few colors & thier awesome!!! I fishing them weightless, weighted ewg hook & on dropshot

@@greenbladesofgrass cost maybe a tad higher now with inflation the wires you can buy at any supply house. janns netcraft is who i used. also get the blades there. bulk buy the trebles. you can use anything for weight since they are light. medal tubing, beads, feathers at dollar stores. lead split shots are cheap and weighty. put everything on the wire and crimp end. hope i didnt miss anything
