College football addiction had an interesting memo from the sec a few years ago about their new media deal that starts in 24. It stated that any new team added to the conference would not reduce the revenue sharing of it's current members and the new teams would get the same shares as the rest of the members.
The "We already have a team in the state" talk is BS. Auburn/Alabama U Tenn/Vanderbilt Texas/Texas a&m Mississippi state/Ole miss What about those states having 2? Where's the problem with FSU/Clemson joining. I am not a fan of either but I can see this talking point is moot.
I believe all those others, minus the Texas teams, were founding members. South Carolina and UF have clearly stated they don't want the sister schools getting what's theirs
Hey Donno and Kenton, Sankey might be talking out the side of his mouth if this report is true...Here’s a clip from a Brett McMurphy report back in 2023 (link below) on the SEC’s deal with ESPN: And then there’s the SEC. In 2020, the SEC signed a 10-year media rights deal with ESPN worth around $300 million per season. The deal starts in 2024 and includes a pro rata clause requiring ESPN to pay the SEC the same amount per school for any new members, sources said.
If you listen to the whole Sankey comments he said we can't talk about it so no,.but future growth would have to make the lie bigger That is a no, for now,...but not no once they get out
I honestly think it’s more “fear” of allowing an FSU program to get back to full strength than it is a “bias”…but nonetheless I agree with your sentiment 💯✅
I also had another thought with regard to the ACC. I feel like ESPN may have already balked at renewing the media rights deal with the ACC. Jim Phillips provided an extension for ESPN to decide on the media rights deal until February 2025. Why would there be a need for an extension if the ACC and ESPN would keep things business as usual? If ESPN says no thanks, the ACC might get cooked anyway. Who would pay the same money, or even 80%, for a media rights deal that doesn't include the biggest brands that bring the highest number of viewers? FSU is top 10 in viewership in all of college football.
if the money is right, this dustup will be in the rearview mirror. whether the deal is with ESPN, FOX, Netflix, AppleTV or Amazon it dont matter. Nobody can tell the truth right now because of tampering.
Nothing but a smokescreen. Sankey knows more money is out there to be made by adding even more great games/opponents to their TV inventory and a ninth conference game.
Best thing for FSU is to workout a lower exit settlement and date around 2029/2030, giving FSU time to get AAU and then get an invite to the B1G around the time the next B1G tv contract comes up for renewal. B1G would want to add 2 teams for next deal to raise the per team payouts.
FSU fans don't have any issue if UGA got it. He issue was a team that lost by multiple scores at home and had multiple bad games v bad teams got in over FSU. UGA had a shot to beat that team.
Let's just call that what it was...The Nick Saben Goodbye Tour. One last shot at greatness on his way to his new job at....ESecPN. The whole situation with FSU stunk like last weeks fish.
the reason is money. the acc media deal is shit for a decade. FSU has no choice to look for a better situation or risk falling further behind othe football-centric schools. the most sense would be fsu/clemson to the b1g for interconference rivalries. Once these scholls get out of the ACC, they will have their pick of what conference to go to....and I would NOT rule out the big12 because of the money that could be available. like it or not, CFB is a big business, has been for years, but it is being formalized now. money is the only thing that matters.
The ACC will redact their documents like they did with Clemson, which resulted in them getting an unredacted copy of the agreements. And yes the AG is a politician who does what politicians always do. I love the homers who think that FSU turned her loose. The school has no authority over any politician, you know that.
Based on what exactly? B1G don't want y'all, the SEC offered FSU membership back in the 90's and you turned them down. Nowadays things have shifted so much the SEC isn't even interested in you anymore. Enjoy beefing with UCF and Kansas 😂
It’s Notre Dame and either UNC, Stanford or Miami. Two spots. One is for held for Notre Dame and will be held open for as long as it takes. FSU and Clemson aren’t going to the B1G.
@@MegaFrankgarciait’s funny clowns like you don’t understand fsu doing all this because of money reason has nothing to do with conference alignment if big 12 show then the money that were they will go
The Big 12 has a clause in their media deal contracts with Fox and ESPN, if they add teams they can renegotiate the contract, all teams will get more money after the name rights deal with allstate, and they're talking about borrowing a billion dollars, It's all good.
Kenton, you are both wrong and right on FSU. There were 5 power conferences competing for 4 spots. The flaw was/is the selection process. One of the criteria for selecting CFP teams factors in impact players not available to play. I don't like it, but it is a criteria that the committee was obligated to consider. Under that criteria, I believe the committee rightfully left out FSU. We saw it in the ACC title game. That was FSU's chance to make a statement and it couldn't. Their offense was inept without Jordan Travis. Instead of losing 63-3 in the Orange Bowl, FSU would have lost 30-3 in the CFP. Nobody wanted to see a team in the CFP that didn't have a realistic chance to win. With automatic qualifiers for conference champions, the spotlight of being left out of the CFP is gone. The same subjectivity issues are there for the 5 through 12 teams. It's just that nobody will care when the 13th team gets left out. I do like that conference champions are rewarded with the top 4 seeds of the CFP and have a 1st round bye. This takes some of the subjectivity out of the CFP. Otherwise, we would have not only wound up with 10 to 11 teams from the B1G and SEC, nearly all would be ranked higher than the ACC and Big 12 team. We have a better playoff product. It's time to put this the FSU snubbing to rest.
Why do the SEspnC homers always say stuff like this. You did not win by enough points, you did not have your best player available.... Just wait until the next SEspnC that doesn't get in start whining and crying like they always do when they do not get their way.

Imagine if Pac-2 used their bankroll to acquire: BSU, SDSU, UNLV, AF, CSU from MWC FSU & Clemson from ACC Tulane, Army, Navy, Rice and UTSF/USF The new Pac-14 could make a claim to be P-5 again and a newly negotiated 2026 TV deal.
@delanesimmons5933 they were against Stanford and Cal. They actually said the ACC should have added OSU.
