- In this photography tutorial, learn how our very own, Trevor Dayley, expertly uses flash and MagMod modifiers (particularly the MagBox Pro 36 Strip) to enhance natural light shots and create totally unique looks. Discover the benefits of prepping your flashes ahead of time and using the MagBox Pro 36” Strip modifier. Watch how sometimes using a flash very subtly is all you need to take your shot to the next level, but also have the ability to change the shot to an entirely different look altogether. Great tutorial for photographers looking to up their flash photography game.

That last shot is awesome🔥🔥🔥
Yep! 🤯
This is by far my favorite Magmod video! Thank you and your daughter!
Hey I certainly appreciate those kind words!!!
I’m a natural light shooter, but that shot making the sunlight look like a white backdrop is amazing. I might have to buy that setup
Been a MagMod fan for so long, and this video content is super helpful! Going to do the same portrait for my son’s basketball team
I really like the efficient and durable design of the MagMod equipment. In another video of yours, I saw that there are even things built into the gel ring to make sure that you can still continue to use the 36" stip box normally even after a joint gets broken or worn out. I'm hoping that this month goes well so I can get a 36" strip box kit.
I liked seeing this video because I wouldn't have thought that an SI-type shot was possible in a normal, outdoor, daylight setting if I hadn't seen this video. I'm definitely going to see what I can do with the little bit of equipment that I do have. And It would be awesome if I can still pull off something similar with just the one speed light that I have.
Wonderful video! I can’t wait to practice!!!!
Thanks for the kind words. We can't wait to see what you create!
Thank you! Loved this tutorial. You have a beautiful daughter, Trevor. Very helpful to me all the way around.👍

Thanks so much Gabriel. So glad you liked it.
just love your instructions and how you break it all down. I have been trying to master lighting during the day for a while and this was such a good 5 minute lesson
Lori we are so glad you found it helpful. Holler if there are any questions that come up while you are practicing. Much success to you!
Blew me away!
I’m in love with this masterclass!
We are so glad you are enjoying it!
Love it!
Exactly what I needed.
thank you
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello Trevor on this shoot when you use the 2 strip boxes on each side of the model for the sports illustrated style, have you tried this technique with the mag sphere on each side instead of the strip boxes?
Nice work...my favourite shot was the last one
Trevor.... Excellent tip and tricks informative as always !!!
Thanks so much John! Glad you found it informative!
Hey Trevor! Great tutorial! Thank you!! You mentioned that you used AD200s for the more traditional senior portraits. What are you using to light the sports photos? I need to get me one (well, really two!) of those bad boys!
super tuto ! what are the dimensions of stripbox ? not clear on site. other brands call them 1x3 (30x90cm) or 1x4 (30x120cm).
I am not fan of ad200pro. I am using ad100pro and ad300pro. a pity you don't have godox adapters for these. what do you suggest, to avoid bowens adapters and magmod bowens ring ?
Fantastic, thank you! I'm curious as to what the difference would have been to use the octa boxes vs the strips in a shoot like this?
Super good question Michael. For the up close shots on the eyes where the flash is very minimal it would have only been the shape of the catch light in the eyes. Everyone has a preference which shape they prefer, I tend to enjoy the rectangular shape as it seems more impactful. As for the shots where flash is more apparent in these scenarios there wouldn't have been a huge difference but the Strip will provide a taller spread of light which would be noticeable when closer to your subject. It will also be narrower so in those shots with two on either side (similar to Sports Illustrated lighting) you have more control where that light is going. But when pulled back (say 6 ft away) it wouldn't be much different.
So the first set up was 2- AD200's when you went to dual 36" strips there where 2 ad200's in one and in the other it looks like a AD400. I am correct and what flash was the 3rd in the back? Another single AD200?
Yep AD200's, I believe it was an AD600. In the back was a V860.
Why Magmod 2 is not Available in India?
Hi Avilash, it's just a matter of finding a distributor there that is interested in carrying the products. We have a strong desire to be there and serve photographers in India. We have been there in the past, it just hasn't been a strong presence. We hope that changes soon. There are lots of photographers already there in India using our products and they make up more than half of our audience on social, so it makes sense that we find a way to better serve you all. Super appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and comment.
I already using magmod since 2016 and till date it is magnificent experience using the products, and i am eagerly waiting for the second version, hope that the problem of the distribiutor will solve soon
@@avighosh123 we super appreciate you! Thanks for using MagMod. We hope to have a solution soon as well. Thank you again for the support and kind words.
LOVE your examples! Thanks Trevor!!! Your daughter is so beautiful!
