@@MadBeatzPhilly yeah it’s cool that your teaching them it, when I went from bass to snare my sophomore year I had to learn traditional w no help, I eventually got better w it than match grip..
@@retro_tcb we're so sorry you had no help learning it, it's a complex technique that requires great attention to detail at first. Learning to use the thumb as a fulcrum, adding wrist/forearm rotation, then elbow support, and finally finger response is a multi-step process that can really help the student achieve excellence right away if done correctly.

@@retro_tcb it takes a lot of attention to detail to start with the correct fundamentals, but it’s worth it when the technique is mastered.
