I just bought my new Apex head unit, Trident, third dos, and 1 link module. I thought I was done spending $$ for a while🤦♂️. Thanks a lot Thomas!!! I’ll be sleeping on the couch for a while.
Does this Ozone generator release Ozone into my house? I Love that ozone smell after a lightening strike when ozone is created naturally, and I really enjoy the ozone layer getting thicker helping the world stay warm.
@@ericjohnson3424 well it is dangerous stuff - how many other reefing products "degrade plastics" - hence the skimmer compatibility thing. Not one whiff and you are dead but if it somehow got disconnected from skimmer and started filling a small fish room with ozone .. well that the only warning one will get is that the air is funny.
Does it only produce ozone? or does it produce other form of reactive oxygen species such as super-oxide? And what is the method of production? is it for example electrolysis? Thank you. I'm just trying to judge the underlying chemistry
Well, they aren't really just turning a different color, they are being broken down and oxidized, which is why it is also credited for mitigating chemical warfare between corals. Not to say that you shouldn't look to remove them from the system in one way or another.
I used to run an ozone generator in my home some days to remove odor in the air. However, I noticed on those days my corals would look sick and take a few days to recover. Ozone damages tissue. I just don’t understand the “if it kills, it must be good for my tank” mentality. That just is not how biospheres work. Poor little copepods.
Have you ever considered running Ozone on your reef tank?
It wasn't a thought before this video. 🤦♂️
@@gabesreef lol....same here. Guess I'll check my savings...
@@semisuccessfulreefer220 the stupid thing is cheaper than I though I might end up buying it.
I used O3 in the 80s. No dryer, just flat out O3 in a massive sump system, letting it off-gas before it hit the DT
Are there any downsides to using my apex to cycle the Poseidon on and off as opposed to the Milwaukee controller?
I love watching this series to see the progress of Thomas's tank in the background

.... ozone being released into the house is a good way to suddenly find in need of a lungs transplant.
Do not joke around with ozone!
Thanks for the nice comment about ozone. It is a subject that has been blown up and marginalized over the years!

Correct! ozotech.com/we-are-ozotech/
I don’t do water changes so I need to remove those particles, not just turn them a different color so I use carbon.
