    I just saw a video re a test that was run on two extremely different doses of ozone used in a 10 pass setup (removing, ozonating and returning the ozonated blood back to the body) . One was a high dose (as with a standard 10 pass treatment) but the OTHER was with a homeopathic dose - which is basically just water's residual response to having been in contact with ozone BUT THEY BOTH HAD THE SAME EFFECT ON THE BLOOD! Which would suggest that even the tiniest amount of ozone, shaken into a measure of water would be all one needs. It would be an interesting test to use so little ozone that it could be said one hadn't used ANY ozone, just to see if it has an effect...

I run it at night, and then sometimes after feeding heavily, and it makes the water so amazingly clear, really fast. It's actually quite astonishing. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. I was intimidated at first because I'd never done it, but after research it really isn't that hard!

    Good evening, I want to ask in the video you said to turn on the ozone if it starts at 325. if the previous ORP was at 150. how will it reach 325. as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong, to increase the ORP of the water by turning on the ozone. If the setting is 325, the water condition is now 150, it won't turn on.

    Looks intriguing. My baseline ORP based on my Neptune is already running 400-430 - not running ozone but skimmer and Reefmat roller filter. Water looks clear (but haven’t done the 5 gallon test). Any thoughts on ozone in this case? Is the Neptune ORP reading just off?

    • @matthewbrstv38
      @matthewbrstv38 Год назад +1

      That's really interesting Steve. I'm not sure what's going on. This is the first time I've ever measured ORP but I will say that without ozone my ORP is around 230. I'd be curious to see if it was in fact the ORP probe giving an incorrect reading, or if there is another reason why your ORP is so high. Anybody reading this know the answer?

    • @Slide-Loc
      @Slide-Loc Год назад +1

      This is exactly what I had and installed a new probe yesterday along with verifying its reading. My new probe read 225. Everything after this is based on what I've been reading so do your own.
      What I also read from others is that your orp placement can be important as they were dosing a particular bacteria up stream that happened to collect and fowl the orp within 2 weeks time. Exposure to light would also be bad.
      Soaking your probe in vinegar can clean and reset it but you would want to test in a known redox solution. Cleaning is important because anything touching the probe will change the reading.
      Today after running a minimum 10% O3 (bigger unit) for 12 hrs over night increased my orp to 325 (stable after about 1hr) on my 300gal. I used the Poseidon 200 partly because the other model wasn't sold on BRS at the time.

    What happens if you’re doing recirculating co2 scrubber, how would this effect the ozone and ozone smell?

    • @matthewbrstv38
      @matthewbrstv38 Год назад

      It can actually work really well in a recirculating skimmer. You'll want to make sure there is a ozone port, and if not, you may experience decreased skimmer performance. The safest way to not effect your protein skimmer is to run a second small and inexpensive protein skimmer. But you can definitely make it work in a similar fashion using a recirculating skimmer.

    Hi Matt! I am battling a serious dino outbreak at the moment and saw the recent BRS video with Randy and Elliot speaking about their experiences with ozone. Randy mentioned ozone getting rid of his dinos. This is what made me look for more videos on ozone and ran into this one. I must say, you pretty much simplified everything for me! You are an incredible presenter! I went ahead and purchased the Enaly 200. My question is, should I have gotten the 100 for smaller ozone input? I have a Waterbox 220.6 and would also like to try it on my 100 gallon frag system which is made up of 2 50 gallon low boys sharing the same sump. Would this unit work for both of these applications or should I have gotten the Enaly 100?

    I’ve wondered about this… if that third oxygen molecule that breaks away from ozone is the “active ingredient” (so to speak), how is that different from hydrogen peroxide? H2O2 -> H2O + O which then oxidizes things…. The same as ozone… So what’s the difference?

    • @rextherunt3135
      @rextherunt3135 7 месяцев назад +2

      The difference is the reactivity, you're right in HOW they work, but Ozone is about twice as reactive as peroxide, that means it will attack and neutralise molecules that H2O2 will do but slowly, or not at all. Also, once ozone is set up, you don't need to keep buying more peroxide, and finally, once a bottle of peroxide is opened, it starts slowly breaking down naturally, which precludes most people from saving money by buying it in bulk. Ozone has it's drawbacks, but you'll only knock over a bottle of peroxide once before realising it's worse in practical terms.

    What tank size is Ozone recommended for?

    • @BulkReefSupply
      @BulkReefSupply  Год назад

      Ozone can be used on virtually any tank size, but it's most commonly used on medium to large systems where media swap outs and water changes are more expensive.

    • @michaelhans2509
      @michaelhans2509 Год назад

      I purchased this 100 sized one for my Waterbox 180.5. Running at max 24/7 I can barely get the orp to read 300. I’m normally in the 250-280 range. So, I’m going to sell my 100 and upgrade to a 200. I would say that the 100 is sized for anything 120 gallons or smaller.

  • @alvinn.5591
    @alvinn.5591 Год назад

    I’m curious if dosing hydrogen peroxide could achieve the same results. The idea is the same, dosing H2O2 and having that extra oxygen molecule break off to oxidize as pure water is left behind.

      I run ozone 24/7 through an airstone in my tank, the bubbles run up an old syphon tube, and the hose that attaches to it is stuffed with GAC. People want these things to be more complex than they need to be. What's the point of drying the input air and messing about with a skimmer to make it all 10x efficient just to then have the thing turn off and on every 2 hours? Let it be 10x less efficient and run it 24/7 like I do, ozone generators use like 6w of power, too.

      Hi Sean, I'm not sure this is true from my research. Ozone is a health concern, and carbon is recommended by the national library of medicine for ozone removal. Please feel free to elaborate on your comment so we can all understand what you mean.

    • @seancolinclark
      @seancolinclark Год назад

      @@matthewbrstv38 ozone can be a health concern given a high enough concentration and long enough exposure time. Making blanket statements ie exposure to bleach is a health concern, while factual, when properly used bleach is very safe. I assume you have no issues swimming in a chlorinated pool even though there is enough calcium hypochlorite in it to kill someone should they consume it all. The very low amount of ozone generated by these units is not enough to cause alarm. Ozone is very reactive and is almost immediately broken down in the aquarium.
