Diane, I just wanted to write a quick note of gratitude to you. I ordered the book and today started baby step 1. It was amazing even making myself get dressed to lace up shoes as I used to just wear whatever because I rarely left the house. Thank you very much
I fully support this. Getting dressed to shoes before meeting my family's needs and tackling the household on the weekends was my challenge but it really makes a big difference. You are ready for anything and visitors. I just recently added the 'indoor shoes' aspect. (As you know, most people in Denmark do not wear shoes indoors.) I have noticed that I can get the job done a lot quicker than when I wore my house slippers. Thanks flylady Diane!
I was just getting in to the habit of wearing shoes every day then I was told at the hospital to wear open-toed sandals every day. Thankfully I found some really good sandals that have three different fastening points so no slipping off my feet. I think of dressed to shoes as putting on my uniform for work. We have to find our own way to make this work in our lives, but I feel more inclined to do the system once the uniform goes on.
Hi Diane, Thanks for your videos; I find them quite motivating. Thanks, too, for addressing the shoe issue. I live in the desert and have found walking shoes with web uppers which work, but your idea of supportive comfortable dressier sandels was a lightbulb moment! Thank you!
Hi Diane! :-) "dressed to shoes" is one of the difficult habits and one of the important ones that can make a difference, I know. As a freelance I do not work everyday out of the house and I do not have the same work hours. Plus my house is super cluttered, so when I am home decluttering I tend to wear more comfortable (aka sloppier) clothes and shoes. I must say that lately I have been making an effort but still not there yet, because I still am doing heavy duty work at home. But it really changes the way one feels about oneself when you do not "save" special things and dress pretty everyday! I still feel that until my house is decluttered "I don't get to do a lot of things" Live Long and Prosper! I can feel spring coming yay!!
Diane, thank you so much for the motivation. Living in a tropical country, I have always used flip flops. which is a big risk because they are so easy to take off and just slip back into bed. I have just stuck on the fridge, a tracker chart for the month to get shoes on first thing in the morning. I am going to tick every little square for each day and will not break the chain. There is my statement. Have a beautiful day!
I alternate between support slip on type shoes and support sandlals ! I have neuropathy in my feet and they burn really bad. Thanksfor showing your sandles. I love them🌹
Great video, Diane! Love those happy birds of yours. :) I'm dressed to shoes and have on some earrings that I was holding back for the "perfect" outfit. They make me smile so the outfit (clean and presentable t-shirt and jeans) is perfect. Haha! :)
Great video and much needed. Thanks for sharing this info. I have been feeling guilty because I like to wear a pair of 'croc' style plastic shoes at home but they are not lace up. You helped me to realize that's ok and I don't have to be perfect. Thanks
Hi Ms. Diane, I work outside the home 8 to 10 hrs a day, trust me the first came off was bra an work shoes. since I ran across you vids Omg I keep shoes on all day Saturday and got up this morning. now Sunday back dressed to shoes. taking baby steps. Thank you for sharing. Be blessed.
There are days in the spring and summer when I need to get gardening done and get sweaty and dirty. I have to put on old work clothes, it just makes sense. Thoughts?
Of course! I put on my welly boots and an old jacket if I'm out in the garden. Dress for the job you're doing. But when I'm finished gardening, I change into normal clothes - I wouldn't walk around the house in my dirty stuff.
Diane in Denmark thanks Diane, you inspire me to get the job done with a lot less procrastination! I am even working in excercise 3-5 times a week because I am not getting any younger.😊
Hi Danielle! Yes, sorry for the background noise...we have a pair of lovebirds. We love them to death but they are making a *lot* of noise right now (spring is here) and it's difficult to keep them quiet! LOL
Hi Diane, I have a question about "getting dressed to shoes" as I don't wear shoes in the house, ever. We were always taught no shoes in the house. Clumping around the house in shoes just seems odd to me.
I find this one hard because I have carpet all over my apartment, does anyone have any tips on how to do the whole getting dressed to shoes with carpet in the house?

Yes, the shoes make me more productive - and I enjoy it even more when it's time to change into fluffy slippers 😉

The tracker chart is great motivation - good luck!
I love the "uniform" idea. Finding a standard to wear will also save money since I won't be buying just anything. Thanks!

You are so motivating! Do you have lovebirds chirping in the background? We have two birds and the sound just like yours.
Hi Danielle! Yes, sorry for the background noise...we have a pair of lovebirds. We love them to death but they are making a *lot* of noise right now (spring is here) and it's difficult to keep them quiet! LOL
Oh, it's no problem for me. I love that sound!
Flylady Diane Denmark I love the sound of your birds.

Seemed very odd to me too, ArtJourneyUK, but I find it works. Don't wear anything heavy...just a pair of light plimsolls.
I find this one hard because I have carpet all over my apartment, does anyone have any tips on how to do the whole getting dressed to shoes with carpet in the house?
No need to wear shoes if it's a problem for you, but certainly be "dressed for the day" and whatever might happen!
this is the hardest step for me. having never worn shoes in the house all.my life, it feels very weird. will work on that this month.
I clean in gold stilettos. 😂 Not!

Candida How is the tracking coming along? 😀
