    The entirety of star trek discovery being a DMT trip inside Michael Burnhams head as she's dying in the first episode, somehow sits better in my mind

    Nu Trek: Discovery is low budget Sunday afternoon sci-fi with “Star Trek” slapped onto it.

    1) the best part is that the discovery crew is from the 23rd century. But they are masters of 30 second century technology. If they were going to set the show on the 32nd Century, they should’ve just done that from the beginning: I guess their motto was, let’s ruin the past first, and then will ruin the future.
    2) with all the magic in the air, why is that guy still wearing glasses? Other than the original pilot the cage, I don’t think anyone in TOS or TNG ever wore glasses for goodness sake. Or are we supposed to believe those are infinity glasses that are really some high-tech device disguised as reading glasses?

      I like how Geordi can eventually get cloned implants yet people still need reading glasses. Fun. 😆

    That's right! People move the same way on Discovery that they do in Harry Potter.
    Also, Admiralty pointed out that the girl Moll comes from Blade Runner.

    I needed this video for the chuckle. And I need laughter these days.
    I never played Lawn Darts in sand, but Discovery (through your great work) has given me the idea of what it would be like,
    Thank you.😀

    I've always been interested in star Trek ship design and tech. Sadly we never get as much as I'd like. But man this seems so strange. No planning what so ever. Just plot maguffins.

    The best part is how despite originating 900 years in the past, the discovery and it's crew represent the flagship of the federation.
    That would be like NATO using Richard the lionheart's or Saladdin's soldiers as the elite special forces to help Ukraine defend against Russia

    The difference is that magic in a good fantasy has rules.

  • @anonimuso
    @anonimuso 6 месяцев назад +1

    How can people consider this Star Trek? Even when the technology of Star Trek in previous shows was dubious, they at least tried to make it seem like it was based on science. This is more fantasy than science fiction.

  • @Random_Tangent
    @Random_Tangent 6 месяцев назад +3

    Any technology that is so sufficiently advanced it is indistinguishable from magic, ruins good story-telling. Those badges seem so advanced that they could do anything, except when they won't, because it suits the plot.

    • @mollieandtheoldman
      @mollieandtheoldman  6 месяцев назад +2

      If they wrote stories that explored that "technology" (side effects, limits...), that could be interesting and unique to this iteration of what they are calling "Star Trek" in 2024. But, IMO, all it works out to be is some sort of Marvel super power -- Old Man

  • @awesome90sgames39

    This was funny.
    It’s difficult to get into these new shows/movies. Once the viewer becomes disengaged your left with watch adults wildly move their arms pretending to have powers. It becomes absurd.
