This region (Tigray) started a war in the last few years and lost. Ethiopia is actually the biggest African producer of cereal crops overall bigger than Egypt same for livestock. Tigray has always had famine but a lot of it is related to politics. Even TPLF used this region for aid and kept famine going on for 30 years while in power.

If these farmers were too harvest energy from the sun into batteries, they could sell this "clean" energy at a far higher price or trade for water since you can't expect rains, you must get water if you farm, but as a way they can support themselves, many people with excess money throw it away already, they would happily give a starving man far more money for energy than it is worth so they can state they use energy from a specific source making them look like better people, we should really take advantage of this for them so they can become independent and hopefully feel the need too raise others up too.
