One thing a lot of people don't know - you CAN combine Gel with regular polish. I do it all the time. I use a gel basecoat (to give my nail strength), cure, then apply my regular polish. Then you have to let that polish dry COMPLETELY. I tend to use a thin layer of a quick dry topcoat to help. Then I apply a Gel topcoat, cure, and done. This lets me use my regular (and usually cheaper lol) polishes that I love but still get the lasting power of gel!
I was thinking the same thing!! That’s the part I worry about most bc I don’t want to damage my nails. So curious to know the best way to remove gel polish
You have to file off the sealer or top coat gel layer, then soak in acetone for 10 to 15 mins. It helps me to put some hydrating oil around my nails before using the drying acetone.
Girl you just upgraded my life. I found the cherry red kit at a local Nordstrom for only $24. I love it! Thanks for sharing. These nails survive wearing socks and covid gloves at work. If my nails do get messed up, I find it fairly easy to peel it off and just reapply. Even then, I only had to use one removal pad, for one finger, on one test hand. I highly recommend you listen to her about the thin THIN layers! I felt like it takes awhile if you're doing two coats of 20 nails, but it beats the salon price, and it came out amazing on my second try!
I love these... have a few of them. Perfect for travel and helps those who are new to gel focus on percision since the lamp is for one finger at a time.
Led and UV lamps are the same thing - both emit UV light just from different sources. LED have tiny LED lights all over, UV have big bulbs which need changing over time. Both are perfectly safe, you get more UVA and UVB exposure sitting out in the sun for five minutes.
You are correct that both emit UV rays, but LED lamps do emit less radiation than typical UV lamps and are safer for your skin - they also work faster, so you are spending less time exposing your skin to UV rays (30 seconds vs 120 seconds per coat) which is healthier.
Thanks for putting the note about it being LED and not UV. That's what has been stopping me from getting a kit. I might just go ahead and try this one!
This would be such a cute gift for friends who want to splurge on a mani, but maybe can't afford to go to a salon that often. Love that peachy pink color too! How do you remove the polish?
I am definitely a regular polish girl BUT I applied these before work the other day when I only had like 10 minutes before I had to leave and it was awesome haha. No smudges!
Hey girl common misconception I saw in the video! Its a UV LED lamp. They’re LED bulbs but they still emit UV light so make sure to still be mindful with your skin! Traditional UV lamps use older bulbs which take longer and are hotter. They just use UV and LED to differentiate the two but it causes confusion
Yes you are right but LED lamps have significantly less radiation and since they are quicker, you aren't exposing your skin to UV rays for nearly as long! LED lamps take 30 seconds per layer, while UV lamps take 2 min per layer :)
Thank you Kelli, pretty soon I will have my own nail salon, thanks to your tutorials I have so many nice colors dont have enough nails to try them all. 🥰💖💅💖🥰 Be Blessed Kelli
Laura For the most part I like it. I recently ordered the color “Coconut”. It’s a pretty color but for some reason it doesn’t last like the others. It starts chipping the next day. Maybe I just got a bad bottle because the other colors last.
That is so darn cute! That is a smart idea to cure one and paint one at the same time because I was thinking about only being able to dry one nail at a time and how long that would take.
I just placed an order using your code, and I can't wait to try out gel polish at home for the first time. Thanks for all the great info, and for giving me the confidence to try something new!
I have never done gel manicures whether it be at home or in a salon. But this looks like a nice and easy starter. Can you do more stamping? I just got my first stamping set and I am not so great with it. I know you have done some old ones but I haven't seen you do one lately, unless i missed it.
Not to discourage you, or Kelly, but you might have room in your subscriptions for a channel called Gellicious. She calls her subscribers, "Jelly Babes," and she demos stamping all the time, well, other things, too. But she's really into stamping! I think you'd like her channel. Happy viewing!
It's not damaging/hard on your nails if you do it right. First you buff the shine off the gel. This kit comes with little foil packets with an acetone-soaked pad inside. You cut the top off and open the packet. Don't pull the pad out, just see which side it's on and then line your nail up under the pad and press down. Fold the packet around your finger. If it falls off you can rig something like a rubber band (don't cut off your circulation!) or some tape to hold it on. I suggest doing one hand at a time. Let the nails stay in the packets for about five minutes. Pull one packet off. Some of the polish should be wrinkly and have shrunk back. Gently push/scrape the polish off with an orange wood stick. Anything that resists goes back into the packet for another five minutes, or until it comes off with just a gentle push. Keep going until your polish is gone. What damages nails is when the polish is forced off with a hard metal pusher, or when it's peeled off. Don't peel, and don't bulldoze! One more 'don't': Don't forget to wash your hands when you're done and apply some cuticle oil. Your nails will be just fine.
Alright Kelli... You can tell them at Le Mini Macaron that you are paying off for them. I went looking and fell in love with the color Pinot Noir, so I had to order the little kit. The little macaroon curing light even matches the color. Can't lie, I'm kind of excited for it to arrive. Now to look into a gel removal steamer so I can use it!
Btw.. do you have any videos on how to prevent yourself from biting your nails? I have just stopped NexGen after 7 years and I have picked up my old habit of biting again 😩
Your revelation with kiwis is exactly the same one I had when I complained about “how itchy and inflamed your hands get” after carving out pumpkins for Halloween. It took me until I was adult to put that together!
Thank you for sharing. I just purchased another Gel polish kit so I will probably have to pass on this one but I am still gonna look for some new gel polish on their site. Have a wonderful day 😘

These are quite neat. I like the concept of gel polish, but I'd mostly use it on my toenails as I tend to get bored with the same polish on my fingernails...haha! A week is often pushing it...lol! Wow as to your kiwi allergy; luckily an itchy tongue and throat was the only symptoms...haha!
I'm also allergic to kiwi's! (and pineapples, oranges, and other tropical fruit) but it was the same story as you, loved the taste but disliked the itchy/ numb feeling when I ate them. Then found out I and a large part of my family is allergic to them. And about the gel question : I have been doing gel at home and really enjoy it. The gel polishes don't get thick or gloopy over time like regular polishes sometimes do. And I also really like how you cant bump and ruin your nails
If there's no light, then that means it is only gel-like, not actual gels - so in theory it won't last as long. But I do have a couple of videos using their Miracle Gel line (which as I said isn't actually gels haha!) They have a gorgeous range of colors.
Those Sally Hansen miracle gel polishes only last 2 days on me before chipping off. I usually get 5 -7 days wear with regular polish so it's pretty poor wear for me.
I need your help Kelli! I am looking to find a good blue (think winter wonderland type blue) with a sparkle in it. I know that I've seen one recently on some random channel, but they didn't give a brand or color. I feel in love with that color!! I just have to sit down and rewatch all of your videos, oh darn 😉!
I feel you on the kiwi thing. I've got oral allergy syndrome myself. Apparently normal people can eat raw apples and cantaloupe without their lips burning and mouth getting all itchy. Who knew?!
I have been tempted to buy mini macaron gel kit for a little while but gel scares me because i don't know it very well 😆 I wanted to take the rose gold kit because rose gold is life ! I'm gonna think about it some more but u make it look so easy 🤔

Bummer on kiwi! So, I just delved into the world of gel polish with the new UberChic gel polishes that came out for summer, and the new gel stamping set as well. I really did love the application, but removal, not so much. My nails are currently "resting" with a Zoya Naked Manicure as a result. I don't know if I did something wrong, but it would NOT come off! I took off the top layer with a nail file, did the whole acetone soaked cotton ball wrapped around my finger for 15m and when it didn't lift or slide off, went in for another 10, then another 5, before I absolutely had to stop because I was afraid for my nails and I scraped it off as best as I could. What is the trick for removing gel polish, because I have certainly failed. Is a good thing I can use the stamping gel polish with regular polishes, because I kid you not, the stamping gel polish for me is a game changer. I LOVE it! Uses far less, perfect image every time and you don't have to rush to transfer. You have to try it Kelli, it's amazing. Thanks for the awesome vid. That little led light is adorable, I want one lol.
