I’ve been playing BFV since the beta and it was my first Battlefield game. I thoroughly enjoyed your 2042 videos and it’s like a dream come true to get guides or casual commentary on BFV these days. Thank you for starting your BFV journey and it’s great to hear you’re having fun! On a side note, feel free to ask questions regarding tanks or infantry, as it’s what I role with when I play the game!
I'll take you up on that offer right now -- how would you configure your tanks for maximum vehicle vs vehicle effect? BFV is amazing fun, I've only just started to explore it. Hope others enjoy it too!
@@timelessgamer_UK There are three kinds of shells most tanks have in BFV, your default cannon, AP, and HEAT. There’s also the squash head shells that the Churchill Gun Carrier and the Churchill heavy tank can use, but that round is exclusive to those two tanks. AP gives you higher damage against armor, less bullet drop/higher velocity and better capabilities against planes. The cost is practically zero splash damage and those shells are much more prone to ricochet. HEAT shells are the most devastating shells in the game, dealing the most damage while still retaining anti-infantry capabilities. They also don’t ricochet like the AP rounds do, which is probably their greatest boon over AP rounds. The cost is they have more bullet drop/ less velocity than even the default cannon and AP rounds. The squash head rounds are unique in the fact that they explode after impact, with a slight delay. These shells simply don’t ricochet 99% of the time and they’re the most consistent tank shell in the game. In exchange for consistency they don’t deal bonus damage if you hit a tanks weak point and are of little use against infantry targets. No one tank is the same. The Sherman and Panzer 4, while similar on paper, are practically unique from each other and both can also be run in different ways. Both can be run as infantry slaying monsters, or armor hunters. Depending on what you run even changes the way your tank will look visually. Have fun and looking forward to the future of your channel!
@@RageToTheFinish sage wisdom -- I've just started modifying my tanks now though I've not progressed far down the tech trees. Sherman and Tiger are both going the AP route, Churchill will too when I get more time as the Brits with it. I was embarrassed when I realised too late after my first clash, I actually had to select the shell I'm using in the Tiger! Whoops!
Very cool to see someone totally absent from older Titles experience them for the very first time in 2024^^ You can tell your excitement about it (which is also justified seeing these old gems...) As I told you,I also plan on jumping on V since its the only title in the franchise I've never played,so I'll definitely see ya (or join ya) to deliver democracy :D Can't wait to see what you're about to say about titles like BF 4 or 3 mate^^
Glad you enjoyed it and I’ll gladly roll with you any time. Next is BF One, so BF4 is after that. I’m back in the UK July / August so we can even get in some low latency gaming. BFV was brilliant, hope you like it!
@@timelessgamer_UK Yea my man, totally enjoyed that since I appreciate the enthusiasm about it - there's not much enthusiasm for anything these days,so your reaction to it reminded me of how weightless gaming was back in the days (not particularly BFV,but it remembered me of the BC2/Vietnam/BF3 & 4 Days where gaming was just gaming, with nothing else attached to it,simpler times... I also like the approach of going back in time instead of starting at something like BC2 (before they switched off servers recently)or Hardline/BF3) Thias way it doesn't get less & less fun while you progress, but funnily enough,it's the other way around (yes, this means you truly started the Franchise at the bottom in a way xD) A nice to hear that! I saw you online a couple of times but figured you'd be playing BFV anyways^^ I'm usually online in the afternoon, not too much in the evenings, but even then we can always meet up for some rounds (gotta use your DC I guess then ,where I'm at it won't stay very family friendly content for too long xD Keep it up sir!
@@lawofqne_YT It's just we getting older. And gaming is bit different but main thing we are different. And there were bad games, fights between Unreal Tournament and Quake 2 fans, 30fps :), mouse with balls etc 25 years ago. So you remember fun and good things and forget about slow internet connection, lags or LAN parties when friend could look over your shoulder and see where you are camping :) The great part of growing up with titles like bf1942, COD1, Q3, CS etc was that the technological upgrades were huge each year, and now it's hard to find game on market looking better than bf1 and Battlefront 2 from 2016 and 2017.
Glad you’re trying out BFV and enjoying all the detailed animations and mechanics. Can you now imagine the disappointment going from this to the completely broken and incomplete 2042 beta? It was such a painful day… I really hope they bring back the movement system and the vehicle resupply mechanics in the next game.
It’s good to get this education, there’s much I liked about 2042 but after seeing this I’m certainly a little confused why so many good ideas were removed. But I’m also seeing how people don’t agree on what the next BF should be, just read the comments here. Some love the tank gameplay & reload mechanic, others don’t. I really wish someone with a platform could start to pull us all together and help Dice get a real sense of community feedback. I’m sick of people like Enders going on about the same thing over and over, yes it had its time and place to hold Dice to account on 2042 but it’s over now, the game is in end life and we need to think about the future. What made BF great, and which way should we go?
I'll have to check this out more as WWII is one of my all time favorite periods of history and I love learning about it. Besides that, I have this game installed, but have not played it. I believe it also has a single player I need to check out too.
That’s right it’s got a full campaign mode. I had a crack earlier, it’s good fun. The WWII vibe is good, a welcome alternative to 2042 if you’re getting content fatigue. Also a beautiful game in its own right
I’m amazed at how good this game looks, I had no idea. Epic tank battles too, why couldn’t you have released this vid when the sale was on?! 😂 Great vid!!
you covered 2 tanks while there are like 3-5 each side, and that doesn't mention the Pacific extension tanks (besides Sherman which basically copied and pasted to be used in a later update to add the US to European maps) I would also recommend covering British tanks like Churchill and the Valentine. regarding specializations, I'd honestly go to the left lane, fully, because tracks are needed to move the tanks, without those you're essentially a sitting duck
@@markcroxford4435 It and BF1 look so much better than the current game it’s kind of shocking. It turns out that art direction means a lot in video games, who knew? Lol.
Fun fact: there is a mid' armour - round used material (*consideration) system built in BFV, say some vehicles were built in some capacity out of wood pieces... well, there are some huge metal rounds that can go through it; once my brother got hit by the round of a Tiger while driving the Puma and the round just went in and out through the tank; the same can be seen with some US boats, the Mosquito Bomber... And if hitting a Sherman by the back in a Tiger at the right spot, you can one shoot it; although balance-wise isn't ideal, at least it's somewhat realistic... (I guess)
I absolutely have to test this - sounds brilliant. I know about the mosquito as that’s the aircraft my grandfather flew. Hurricanes were near exclusively made of wood too, though I’ve not seen them in the game (which is odd given how important they were).
Great Video once again! I hope the next BF looks more like BF5 and less like 2042... Still incredible grafics! The sounddesign is also shockingly good.
Thanks! I was really stunned, I had no idea it was this good. I have to say I’m spiritually torn - there’s much and more I admire about 2042 and the modern era, but this is epic. I would love a 2042 part 2 that had the attention to detail & love this one clearly had
YEEEESSSSSSSSS I was so hyped when you were talking about going and puttin some time into this and I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. Beautiful showcase that will surely pull the “new age” players back to Bf5. Well done 🎉
Thanks man, this game needs to be lauded -- it's exceptionally good, and the flying is divine. Such a good game, getting to 2025 / 2026 doesn't seem so bleak now!
Awesome video as always man. I'm glad you are doing this world tour of BF games. When you first told me that 2042 was your first, I was genuinely surprised! I think playing these older games shines some light onto why some people really dislike 2042, because you can see the quality of the game is not the same. Look at the maps for example, as you said, some of these maps are absolutely breath taking and full of detail. Hopefully the next BF game has some of this spirit! 🤞
It’s a quality game, I’m really impressed. Completely hand on heart true, I was a CoD guy until I’d finally had enough & took the leap with 2042. This game has really made me believe that without COVID, and whatever the hell happened with the launch of 2042, this series can be incredible. My sincere wish between us chatting guys is that the BF influencers who actually have clout can stop complaining about BF2042 and shift their focus to constructive comments about the future. I’m really sick of hearing people put the boot in (ffs say something new and stop showing Mackay gameplay every damn video). Be useful - if it were you, what mechanics / features would you include? Should tank fights be arcade or realistic? Fast paced or slow? What era works best? Say something useful Dice can actually use - not this petty sniping at others. Yes, I am talking about Enders 😅
Fantastic video, glad you’re liking BFV! It’s my favourite Battlefield due to the facts you mentioned. The immersion is second to none, the audio is fantastic and the gunplay/ movement are very on point. Love coming back to it once in a while!
You were lucky on that 2nd tank engagement on Prvovance map ( as I recall). Cause you were up against a heavy Tiger or Panzer IV tank. In BF5 you can not fight against toe to toe with heavy tank. You have to take equally heavy tank or upgrade your cannon and shell load and armour also. Really there is so much depth in BF5 vehicle gameplay it's mind blowing. My prediction was right, I told you that you gonna love BF5 plane and Tanks and here you are. 😃
You weren't wrong, and I need to spend some time customising. Right now I'm just trying to get the feel for them / general gameplay style, as everything that I learnt in 2042 simply doesn't apply here. Right now I'm also being drawn to iconic vehicles like the Churchill MkVII, Sherman and Tiger. Legends!
@@timelessgamer_UK The real fun vehicle actually behind commander call drops. Oh a tip to use them is you have to be squad leader, whole game watch for command menu for smoke ,artillery strike, tank and vehicle drops and finally for v2 bombs. You can call drop crocodile tank( fire breather) on British side, actually each faction has its own unique squad call vehicle drops, best one on Japan faction. Trust me this tanks can turn the tide of whole match. Oh once you gathered enough points to call support drops you have to redeploy, otherwise your squad mates will stole those tanks. 😁
Many of those mechanics were introduced to push players to PTFO, and were inspired by other games popular in those time like PUBG, Squad or WW3. Problem was that BF4 veterans were used to more arcady, fast paced gameplay. BFV was directed by David Sirland who left after BfV but he joined back DICE around year ago. You can see how they aimed to eliminate cheesy things from previous bfs, like Mortars, Hellis hovering from behind the hill/building, Tanks camping from the hill entire round, medic/revive trains or reviving from around the corner just to get revive and get your teammate on enemy fire, bunny hopping, dolphin diving, snipers on the hill entire round, bailing from plane to deny enemy pilot kill etc. So many things were removed and changed to make game more tactical and PTFO comparing to BF1, that was insanely immersive but with cheesy mechanics. As per balance, each map and each mode plays different, on small infantry map like Devastation Tiger is a bad choice, on Panzerstorm is great but takes a lot of time to drive to the battle, and enemy Air - P70 Nightfighter counters you a big time. So only with Air supperiority, Bf109 G6 shooting down NightFighters you can drive to the mid points and more. bf109 G6 are countered by mobile AA, stationary AA is useless against good pilots, any decent pilot will kill stationary AA without problem. Tank AA is much harder, so in order to gain air superiority on Panzerstorm, friendly tanks have to destroy AA tanks first. This gives this Rock paper scissors balance. If you are planning to play more I recommend fighters : Bf109 G6 with Rockets (best plane in the game), Spitfire VB with rockets, Corsair 1C and Zero A6M5 for pacific, Mustang P51K (only to counter high altitude noobs on G6) and P51D with 6 rockets. Bombers: Ju88A, Mosquito with huge bomb. Tanks (my go to for each map): Twisted Steel (Grayhound, Tiger), Panzerstorm (Sherman, Tiger), Provence (Sherman,Tiger), Al Sundan (Puma/PanzerIV, Greyhound), Hamada (Tiger/PanzerIV, Staghound/Valentine), Aerodrome (Tiger, Staghound), Mercury (Tiger/PanzerIV, Valentine), Arras (PanzerIV, Staghound), Rotterdam (PanzerIV or later when Crocodile Tiger, Valentine) Devastation (PanzerIV, Staghound) Narvik (Archer, Stug). Important is that facing enemy tank front is not the best, best is to face on 24 degrees angle. The ricochette mechanic reduces the demage huuugely. Also important where you aim. Staghound is a glass canon, but with on top rockets is crazy OP, you can load them at the resuply station and shower over enemies without cooldown. PanzerIV with short barrel, flares and mines is crazy good against infantry, also it's a medium tank with decent armor and doesn't make useless against other tanks. Valentine has mine clearing device, it's very fun to use, just not blow yourself with it, same as Sturmtiger main cannon. Sturmitiger has a mortar station, very good against infantry. Churchill has only one adventage - your mechanic can exit/enter vehicle quite safely. STUG is only good if you have a mechanic on the machine gun station. Most of the mechanics are very well presented on Azura Gaming channel (something like MarzipanDan but for BFV tanks). If you play with engineer and you are getting bombed, consider asking your friend to take assault with Fliegerfaust, you as a Tank commander can repair Tanks even faster than Mechanic if needed, also when you see enemy heavy tank, and you start duel, always exit just after getting hit, otherwise you will start exiting and during animation, when you land on top of the tank like Tiger, and you will get killed, either by direct hit, or by big blast damage. Sorry for long text, hope you will enjoy BFV and other BF games same as I did
Never apologise for passing on knowledge, I appreciate it! I've just started flying and am currently running a more 20mm / 4 x LMG (8 x LMG on the Spitfire VA) to just try and win in the air. I've also gone for 250kg bombs to try and get those AA nests (I'm getting a LOT better at it, it helps when you've learnt the maps and don't have to wait to be fired upon or a Recon buddy sort you out). On Tanks, I am in love with the Sherman, Tiger and Churchill MkVII -- I know the Greyhound / Staghound are crazy good but the 'oomph' factor of the Tanks always draws me in. It's just too satisfying to not play The Last Tiger or Fury every chance I get! On the ricochets mechanic I hadn't appreciate glancing blow was a thing (more than just a cool SFX), so I'm working on my positioning. I am yet to try the Fliegerfaust, I thought that was more AA? Thanks again! Look forward to showing you when I've made some worthy progress!
@@timelessgamer_UK Fliegerfaust are gadget for Assault, it fires small rockets, devastating if you hit all of them on target. Quite a good counter against planes. Can't wait for your next video!
Big shock: incredible _Battlefield 2042_ player is a NATURAL in a different _Battlefield_ game… 😝 This game looks like great fun too! Those revive animations and perspectives were so real, I actually thought I was DYING for a second! Seriously! My left arm is feeling numb! …actually, I think this might be legitimate, I may have to go call someone… __
You know, the way people speak about the differences you'd think they handled completely differently, but -- nope! I can absolutely feel the differences, no doubt about it the vehicle play is not the same, but the core DNA? It's still BF, you'll be able to get straight in there without any issues. Loving the WWII, especially in the skies. So much fun breaking out the Spitfire
way better, original dev team left after bfv, therefore bf2042 was way worse at the launch, bfv and bf1 graphics and effects are masterpiece easily even today
@@igordugonjic nah, that's just a theory that doesn't really answer. Main change from bfV to bf2042 was tech requirements for 128 and huge maps, plus the game direction.
My man, you have just scratched the surface of BFV tanks, the pinnacle of DICE’s tank warfare. Play some more and unlock the tank tech trees like HEAT-T alt ammo for Tiger, or Flamethrower for Sherman. Trust me, BF2042 tanks play is no comparison at all.
Yeah I figured out there's no comparison when I got my arse kicked badly on the Panzerland map. Utterly obliterated casually rolling across the plains. I really enjoy it, absolutely gripping fights & big sense of victory when you win. I'll try your mod suggestion, I could do with more firepower!
Glad to see you’re enjoying it! I haven’t played the game but I’ve watched a lot of people who have, and there’s a way to sprint with the lunge mine like a bayonet charge but I couldn’t tell you how to activate it
Accepted -- we can only try! I'll be back in the UK July / August so even if we don't cross paths until then, don't forget about me -- it'll line up. I've just rebuilt my tanks for anti-armour, should be fun >:)
I'm really impressed with BFV and it's lovely having new content / things to play with. Also helps me to assess, was BF2042 as bad as people say, or was it just fashionable to hate on it at the end? Did it move too close to Hero shooter / CoD style games? Let's get educated, one red balloon at a time
Coming from a BF5 player which maxed out all of the tanks and most of the planes, I do think and agree with most of your points. BF5 also nailed something while 2042 didn't, specialization, and extra perks, for guns, tanks, and planes. those things were sometimes quite literally the difference between life and death, or being at the top of the table. or the bottom of it.
As somebody, who played prev Battlefield games 1. Attrition (limited ammo on every single weapon) is annoying and at times unfair. Tanks are meant to push objectives, find flanks, counter other vehicles. When they lack mobility and have limited ammo pull, it makes players far more passive, completely destroying any push you might try. Does it make you think more tactically? Maybe, but it also makes you feel like a giant slow moving coffin made for camping. 2. Forced animations take control away from the player. You might like the atmosphere, but there are people like me who hate the idea that you are defenseless while performing them. You can at times see the enemy during those animations and be completely unable to do anything about it. 3. Additional spawn points are cool, but adding vehicles to the pool for capturing flags was a thing for the longest time in the series. It sounds good on paper, but what it does is enables better teams to snowball the other team. There are maps in the series, where you can lose 1 obj with mobile AA and that makes you completely defenseless against air vehicles. Better players should win, sure, but not because they can make the other team feel miserable for the next 15 minutes by spawn camping them while the other team doesn't have vehicles to breakthrough
All completely fair points, and I've only started playing so I'm not making any definitive statements, but here's how I'm seeing it today: 1) The limited ammo issue definitely makes me think tactically, but it never made me think as a Camper. Some may not like this, but I don't plan on keeping my tank alive beyond the single use I had in mind for it (say capture point C). I just asked myself whether I had a realistic prospect of getting the cap or defeating an opposing tank. I do also like that it stops spawn trapping, as you'll inevitably run out of ammo & repairs. In my matches, tanks have been at the heart of pushes, often making the difference. It's just not in my DNA to sit on a back line! 2) Perhaps I'll grow to be frustrated with them but for the moment I love the animations. It makes the decision to rez someone more impactful too, as you need to put something on the line vs going prone and jabbing in the foot or Falck Defibrillator of God healing 5-6 people in an instant. For the moment, I'm in love :D 3) The spawn points, I'm enjoying the strategy of picking where to attack. That said I do see and have seen your point, that it reinforces the advantage for the winning team (turning a beating into an absolute drubbing). But again the counter argument? That's our good play for seizing the airfield -- let them take it back! I definitely prefer it to parachuting in a tank onto a roof! Thanks for the detailed assessment!
@@timelessgamer_UK 1) Good for you! Less experienced players don't act like that tho. They see limited resources, they feel the slow nature of the vehicle, and they start camping the ammo depots. You haven't encountered it, because BFV is 6 years old already. Core playerbase now consists of mostly good players. 2) Again, good for you! It's all a matter of preference. I am just pointing out how BF community is very divided about topic like that. Or at least was, when BFV came out. 3) That's good and all, but your "good play" might have just ruined the entire match for the other team. Imo it should never work like that. Any team should have options to come back, not by free handouts, but from having maps and mechanics designed to enable balanced matches. Introducing new vehicles through obj capturing like that is a very risky move that ruined countless matches in the series. No, thank YOU! I am glad to see you pick up the series and I am here to see you slowly lose your mind over how each game will differ from the other
1. Attrition is a great idea (depending on the game pace though) if implemented correctly. Ammo and repair located on the Flags push you to those flags, great example is Provence map. 2. Animations are form of balance, you control them by timing them right. Teleporting in/out of tank is so mega frustrating, same as bailing pilots from 1hp planes. In many games this balance mechanics are done by adding delays or "loading'" UI. In bfV animation does the same but with great immersion. Also it reduces/eliminates many game breaking things like taking planes as taxis to get to the point faster, sometimes when you waste plane like that (for example on breakthrough) it can mean a lost round for your team. 3. Pushing enemies to spawn should bleed tickets in like 1 min. There is no way in Battlefield to have a balanced games, so it's always pure luck (unless some clan decides to run server or balance the public one).
@@chaimkobylinski1988 1. That's cool and all, but why would a less experienced player leave their own depot? He will literally get punished by pushing, losing a 1v1 against an enemy armor and then might even lose the obj that he started in. This mechanic doesn't at all make a fair playing field 2. 2042 literally has the same delay before you actually take control of the vehicls without it feeling like you are stuck in animation you've seen a thousand times. There even is a window of opportunity for enemies to shoot your model that climbs into the tank. 1hp bailing is literally as realistic as it gets and any kind of vehicle player should be able to save themselves if they get tge timing right. Fuck immersion since BFV still has players using planes as taxis. 3. There is a way. It called good map design. I guess you never heard of it
@@thebigsam Dunno why so passive aggressive.. 1. Yes they would if map design is good, also there could be no repair station at spawn, only at Flags. As I said, good idea, implementation could be better. 2. Getting into vehicle yes, though it's actually both in bf1,V and 2042 wasn't present before. Exiting has 0 delay, I died so many times chasing tank with bazooka/rpg etc, just to get one shot killed by tank commander with shotgun, magically teleporting in front of me when I was planting C4 or reloading bazooka. 1HP bailing is a figure of speech, is bailing as general when you feel like losing DF and don't to give kill for that. It makes playing as jet pilot frustrating as air to air is your main objective. In bfV you can bail and use it to the advantage but you have to do it smart and use some skill. I spent 3k hours in BFV and experienced barely any taxi planes. While in bf3,bf4, bf2, bf2042 that was always a thing. 3. I played every single bf game, multiple other FPS games. Map design is only one factor, a big one though. But even with fair, mirrored, with multiple ways to exit the spawn and flank, it's about the team. If one team has air and vehicles superiority, or your team will take 31 snipers and decide to camp at spawn, you will do nothing, or just get more and more frustrated to push against organized better enemy. Some teams deserve to lose, and losing all flags or spawn camping shouldn't take more than 1-2min. or rewarding losing teams with behemots
I don’t know what state the game was in when it launched, but to talk smack about this game if it’s anything like what I’m seeing - in 2017 - is very harsh. It’s 2024 and I’m playing it happily today as it stands. This little world tour of mine has only just started and I can already see the community feels passionately about “their” battlefield, whichever one that was for them. Honestly I feel positively towards 2042 once we cleared season 1 and the devs really started to turn the ship around (it was a long process I’m not delusional!). I definitely prefer a modern setting. The mistakes of 2042 were obvious and let’s put them to one side - in terms of what’s next and how to structure the game - Dice have a real problem on their hands here. Nobody seems to agree what is “great”. Just read the comments section on this vid about tank play after 24h and only a few hundred views. Which way do you go? Arcade or realistic?
@@timelessgamer_UK it was great at launch. The hating on games is just part of any franchise. Just go over to call of duty. They don't like anything Activision puts out but they buy it every year lol.
Battlefield 2042 in comparison to Battlefield V is really bad, considering the atmosphere, the sounds, the map design and weapons. Everything is just so good! The lunge mine was my go to equipment, the damage is insane and just so satisfying, and yea you do survive it more often than not^^. I really should revisit that game aswell. Great Video Timeless!
Welcome to BF5, the game Dice dropped just as they ironed it out and made it really good just to take a step backwards and give us 2042 😔 Enjoy it 😬 I will echo a comment, BF1 is freaking amazing so if you see it on mega sale or being given away, grab it and play it. Some people don’t like the old time feel of WW1 but it is worth playing if you can get past that. 👍
As they say, history repeats! 2042 was getting into really good shape, sure it lacked the passion & detail that I now know BFV does, but it was still coming up as the best offering out there. It’s a shame the plug was pulled on both before their times. That said, BFV has made me believe that without Covid disruption and an emphasis on sound technical build, the next BF could be amazing. Fingers crossed!
When BFV launched most of us were really disappointed. It might be difficult to see if you haven't played any of the previous games. TTK and TTD were a mess and so were a lot of the weapon balance in true DICE fashion. Everything was just a downgrade from BF1. My first Battlefield was Bad Company 2. I especially loved the Vietnam expansion. Having said all that, I glad you're having fun in this game. Not knowing how things were before can somethings be a bliss. I did enjoy the video. Cheers. PS! You need to charge with the lunge mine in order to survive. It will knock you back further from the blast.
Ignorance can be bliss for sure, I'm already scratching my head about a few 2042 choices now I've had some time on BFV. BF1 is coming up, really looking forward to it. Hope it's not too dated that someone without the nostalgia can't enjoy it as it should have been. Thanks for the lunge mine tip, I need to figure out how to do that!
Im just getting into bfV, I didn't like the release of it watching video's etc, at the time I didn't have a good PC so couldn't play it anyways. After building my pc in 2020 and playing bf1 and the other BF games i got this for free 2 years ago and just now decided to give it a shot. Im a ww2 history fan so it feels weird, its ww2 but feels fantasy WW2, other then the Pacific maps. I do find it to be a bit challenging to get kills etc, but im getting the hang of sniping. Being used to bf1, bf4 and 2042, I find bfV a lot different. Definitely will be continuing despite being a weird ww2 feeling, and wanting battle of the bulge and market garden, and Russian front. I just feel there's so much lost potential with this game
I’m glad you’re giving it a shot - I also found aspects of the game tricky having come in from 2042 but I’m now finding it rewarding / technically quite deep. Tank gameplay especially - driving or fighting them - requires a lot more thought before engaging vs 2042 where the risks were completely different. Being an Engineer (Assault) is a lot more rewarding for sure in BFV. As to the historical elements yeah like yourself I’ve an appreciation of the major operations of the war, there’s entire fronts omitted etc.. Russia not being a faction is an interesting call given they were about as significant as it gets in the conflict. The fantasy element, well I guess that’s the price of a video game. I must say I think they did a good job on the maps to capture the feel of the theatre in question. For me I can’t believe there isn’t an air superiority mode built around the Battle of Britain or defending English cities from the blitzkrieg, that would have been immense. But on the whole, I’ve really enjoyed it. There’s elements I like about 2042 but BFV has really captured my attention. Sad I missed it, though was otherwise engaged with our then newborn & trying to buy our house! I prefer the modern setting, but this was absolutely brilliant. I hope lessons can be carried over
BF5 is the best BF, and it was since it came out. It was just review bombed by stupid antiwoke gamers and youtubers, just because of some skins, but it was already this good and beautiful masterpiec of game. And you didn't talk about destruction and re-construction ! a huge mechanic of the infantry gameplay in this BF.
I’ll be doing more BF5 - this game is gorgeous I have absolutely no idea what its critics are talking about. Stunning game. I have a lot to learn and the tank combat is amazing, seriously top notch
@@timelessgamer_UK many players were pissed off because there was women or disabled fighters in the official trailer of the game. And the worst is that many stupid big youtubers also made that bad buzz on the game for that .
Probably check this out when BF2042 is officially dead. I just learned how to use Zain's airburst & fast health regen and also how to use Irish's portable wall shield. Now im starting to learn Liz's tv missile. 2042 is actually fun when you take off the hate goggles and learn the new unique stuff that was added to the BF franchise. Man, they could've made a badass single player campaign w/ all of these specialist abilities and gadgets.
2042 is a really solid game now, and I think the specialists can be a lot of fun once you stop hearing the awful voice lines and just enjoy their gadgets. I’m glad to hear you’re working your way through it all. I never did get Zain, I should revisit him. My main take away from BFV was the amazing detail, and I’m really optimistic having seen it that a studio bit bogged down by Covid & other issues has the potential to deliver an absolutely beast of a game. Here’s hoping!
It’s not been too bad for me, yes I’ve met a few (Singapore lobbies) but I’ve been able to avoid them easily now I know who’s who. 2042 sadly has turned into a rats den on hackers in Asia. BFV isn’t any worse, based on all of one week playing.
How is the player activity in brb vs 2042. Usually I struggle to get a full conquest game in bf2042 unless it’s peak hour for gaming. Without portal I feel like it would be hard to find games, no?
I’m in Asia and the BFV servers are absolutely packed in the evenings after work. My local region Singapore has at least 6-7 rooms full up, and there’s loads in Japan. With 2042, it can be a struggle outside of peak hours to fill a 128 but 64 is never an issue. I’d say between 9pm and 11pm 128 matches are not hard to find, but after that when ppl with work the next day start going to bed, it becomes a lot harder.
@@timelessgamer_UK damn Australia’s player base fell off. Haven’t filled a full 64 conquest lobby for a long time even during peak hrs. Portal is the only thing that has at least 50-80 players max at peak hours :(
My favorite game ruined by hackers :( I'll re-install and see if anything has changed since they implemented that anti-cheat, though I've seen comments saying it's all the same. Thanks for sharing those vehicle tips, I only play as infantry so it was good to discover something new. In my experience, the most powerful weapon against ground vehicles is AT mine - if you know where to plant them (you can plant up to 6 mines compared to 3 in 2042). As for the AA guns, Fliegerfaust is #1 imo - it's even more effective than those ground AA guns: you can take down a plane in one shot once you get a hang of it, it's totally much easier to use compared to Bazuka hahha What I absolutely love about this particular BF is the ability to destroy buildings (and rats camping inside them) and build fortifications. Playing as engineer, you can also build artillery and AA guns in certain spots - very useful ability in modes like Breakthrough. Something I wish 2042 had :(
I didn’t know about building AA emplacements… I need to look into that. I knew I could make fortifications etc but seems there’s more. So the hacker situation- honest take. They’re there for sure, but honest lobbies in Asia fill up fast and equally dishonest ones empty. Get into a 62 / 63 out of 64 and stay there for dear life, and you’ll be fine for the evening. Totally serious comment, BF2042 is worse for hackers in Asia these days. I still have loads to learn about BFV but I’ll keep going, and the odd tough experience with a hacker to me is worth paying (though obviously I wish we didn’t have to).
bfv is a masterpiece, EA left it way too early, event with the bugs, they never finished the game, but we could live with the bugs, I have over 2000 hours of BFV, cheaters made me left the game, loved BFV
It's a cracking game -- I've said this a few times but worth repeating, if you can get into a clean lobby and old on for dear life you can have really good evenings on BFV. So far I've held up well -- yes, many hackers... but once I'm in a clean lobby? no worries!
@@timelessgamer_UK I was lucky back in the days to enter few BF Robot lobbies, 10% od the people were banned instantly, later they have realized how to ddos bf robot servers ... I would love to return to BFV and play in the clean lobby, great gameplay, graphics, sound ... everything
It's no worse than 2042 is these days, also with the lobby search feature I can see who's in there / avoid or immediately leave if I spot the offenders. I'm having a better time avoiding cheats in BFV than I am in 2042 where I can't actively avoid players.
Really curious - which BFV mechanics didn’t you like? I’m moving on to BF1 next, just taking my time as we’ve got until 2026 until the next BF comes out :)
I’ll work my way through them all - just playing with Tank Mods now after some of the comments I got, I’d completely missed this! It’s a really excellent game
@@felipelabouriau6964 OK need to be careful how I put this so I don't give the wrong impression, but I really love playing as the British... I grew up seeing these vehicles in museums, and having my own Churchill MkVII, Spitfire and Bristol-Blenheim is bringing out the little boy in me! I mean this in a positive way, no silly patriotism / jingoism. I just get a little kick out of seeing them in action :D
I can absolutely see it - for the standard of the maps, artwork, musical score and atmosphere to have dropped so significantly is remarkable. Also the pure technical / mechanical issues on release as well. I 100% understand. However - and this is a big one - I don’t understand why more credit wasn’t given by the community to the work done to correct the title, especially with the challenges of Covid. I’m not excusing the release of such a shoddy product, but they have managed to pull it back to the point 2042 is now actually a good game. Years late, still underwhelming given the time between BFV and 2042, but they did recover the situation. At its core 2042 is actually good… I choose to believe - if Dice can put this behind them and deliver to the standard I’ve seen in BFV and in some places 2042 - I think BF 2025 could be immense. I still believe!!
@@timelessgamer_UK I agree with you, actually. I ended up playing 2042 all the way through Season 7 and unlocking everything before going back to BF:V myself about 3 weeks ago. Glad to be playing V again full time tho, hopefully I’ll see you in a game!
I’ve just finished BF1. I’m working my way down, I’ll get there. Thanks for checking the vid out, I’m enjoying the tour - hope other 2042ers give them a shot
Awesome vid, deeply underrated this should be seen by more BF players
I had hoped it’d be more appealing but what can you do?
Whoops!
Very cool to see someone totally absent from older Titles experience them for the very first time in 2024^^
You can tell your excitement about it (which is also justified seeing these old gems...)
As I told you,I also plan on jumping on V since its the only title in the franchise I've never played,so I'll definitely see ya (or join ya) to deliver democracy :D
Can't wait to see what you're about to say about titles like BF 4 or 3 mate^^
I also like the approach of going back in time instead of starting at something like BC2 (before they switched off servers recently)or Hardline/BF3)
Thias way it doesn't get less & less fun while you progress, but funnily enough,it's the other way around (yes, this means you truly started the Franchise at the bottom in a way xD)
A nice to hear that!
I saw you online a couple of times but figured you'd be playing BFV anyways^^
I'm usually online in the afternoon, not too much in the evenings, but even then we can always meet up for some rounds (gotta use your DC I guess then ,where I'm at it won't stay very family friendly content for too long xD
Keep it up sir!
I only got it myself in the sale -- get it next time it comes around!
you covered 2 tanks while there are like 3-5 each side, and that doesn't mention the Pacific extension tanks (besides Sherman which basically copied and pasted to be used in a later update to add the US to European maps)
I would also recommend covering British tanks like Churchill and the Valentine.
regarding specializations, I'd honestly go to the left lane, fully, because tracks are needed to move the tanks, without those you're essentially a sitting duck
@@saarnissimalt I will work through them all, all in due time. Need to keep the vids to a reasonable length. Loving the Churchill MkVII
@@timelessgamer_UK i also recommend u to check the 4000IB bomb in the newer mosquito, this thing claps tanks, some canbe destroyed in one bomb
Great video again!! When you unlock at bundle granade, that will help you fighting against tanks!
Thanks, I’ll get on it! I noticed though the Tiger has a perk which can mitigate sticky grenades, that’s kinda cool!!
And the man delivered as promised💪🏻
Got to follow through on your words once you’ve made the commitment!
It'll be a big help in getting us to 2025/2026!
Nice man! I’m looking to hop into bfv as well 🙌🙌
Thanks - it’s a great game, there’s a lot a future BF can take from it
@@timelessgamer_UK facts 💯
Great to see you made the leap mate, just sent you a friend request on EA hope to jump in a game with you sometime!
Accepted, love the name! See you in there o7
🙏thank you for doing this video
Thank you for watching it -- it's good for me to get an education, so it's a win-win
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Do try out grand operations if you like the cinematic feel of BFV!
I'll be sure to look, only just scratching the surface of the game. Really impressed with it!
Have a good weekend too
Many of those mechanics were introduced to push players to PTFO, and were inspired by other games popular in those time like PUBG, Squad or WW3.

Love the WW2 vibe! Also yeah I see exactly what you’re saying, the visuals and FX are better than 2042?!
way better, original dev team left after bfv, therefore bf2042 was way worse at the launch, bfv and bf1 graphics and effects are masterpiece easily
even today
@@igordugonjic I just made this same comment in another thread. You’re absolutely right, it’s shocking how much better they look.
I haven’t played the game but I’ve watched a lot of people who have, and there’s a way to sprint with the lunge mine like a bayonet charge but I couldn’t tell you how to activate it
I can’t figure out how to do it either, it just happens sometimes!! I need to research it 😂
True about the sound effects. Bullet sounds are dope.
I love the ricochet sounds & the banging when you’re inside a tank and get hit. So good. Dive bombing is also epic

I just did a vid on BFV tank specialisation, check it out & see if I got it right! Really loving BFV, cracking game
@@timelessgamer_UK I'd also say I'll be happy to play with you and recommend you some other specilzations for the other tanks too!
@@saarnissimalt Let's do it! Just had a great round this evening, really enjoy BFV
Great content as always. Looks amazing. Wish it was playable in OCE. Just no servers available. :(
Come to Singapore! I just put a Flamer on my tank, a few ping means nothing 😅
Lol. Done. 😅
As somebody, who played prev Battlefield games
All completely fair points, and I've only started playing so I'm not making any definitive statements, but here's how I'm seeing it today:
1) The limited ammo issue definitely makes me think tactically, but it never made me think as a Camper.
For the moment, I'm in love :D
3) The spawn points, I'm enjoying the strategy of picking where to attack.
This mechanic doesn't at all make a fair playing field
2. 2042 literally has the same delay before you actually take control of the vehicls without it feeling like you are stuck in animation you've seen a thousand times.
Everyone being nostalgic in the comments but when this game was new everyone still talked smack.
It’s a wonderful game - I’m so confused why people put it down…
Welcome to BF5, the game Dice dropped just as they ironed it out and made it really good just to take a step backwards and give us 2042 😔 Enjoy it 😬 I will echo a comment, BF1 is freaking amazing so if you see it on mega sale or being given away, grab it and play it.
I hope lessons can be carried over
Amazing video, but if you love the atmosphere and the visuals of this game, then I highly recommend giving battlefield 1 a chance.
This is the beginning of the world tour -- every BF will be visited, I'm just working backwards from 2042 :D
@@timelessgamer_UK great I’m looking forward towards your next videos
@timelessgamer_UK Zain is a beast, he's actually OP tbh, glad that he's underrated n unpopular
dont know if it was mentioned but if u plan on playing the game again u can actually do a charge with the mine stick just o u know
Thanks - check the latest vid on what’s next for BF. I’ve perfected my mine lunge!
Hackers killed this game. Atleast for me on Asian servers.
As for the AA guns, Fliegerfaust is #1 imo - it's even more effective than those ground AA guns: you can take down a plane in one shot once you get a hang of it, it's totally much easier to use compared to Bazuka hahha
What I absolutely love about this particular BF is the ability to destroy buildings (and rats camping inside them) and build fortifications.
I would love to return to BFV and play in the clean lobby, great gameplay, graphics, sound ... everything
i have left bfv for too many cheaters! what about that right now?
It's no worse than 2042 is these days, also with the lobby search feature I can see who's in there / avoid or immediately leave if I spot the offenders. I'm having a better time avoiding cheats in BFV than I am in 2042 where I can't actively avoid players.
I loved bf1 more
V was ok, stunning looking but some mechanics not so cool
Really curious - which BFV mechanics didn’t you like?
I’m moving on to BF1 next, just taking my time as we’ve got until 2026 until the next BF comes out :)
You will loose your mind with BF 1, then! Its the most atmosferic BF; try it ;) By the way, the japanese reinforcement tank is a monster!
I’ll work my way through them all - just playing with Tank Mods now after some of the comments I got, I’d completely missed this! It’s a really excellent game
Yes, indeed a very nice game, with beautiful graphics and sound design. Check out when you can the Pacific Storm DLC; it is awesome 👌
@@timelessgamer_UK Nice, then! Will have fun, anyway :) As a brit, the Crocodile is a great tank, by the way 🐊
the game is good my friend
Truly it is - really enjoying it
Can you understand why 2042 was received so bitterly? It felt like all of the loving, fine detail and craft had been needlessly stripped from it.
At its core 2042 is actually good…
I choose to believe - if Dice can put this behind them and deliver to the standard I’ve seen in BFV and in some places 2042 - I think BF 2025 could be immense.
Wait until you try bf4 and bf3. You will sweat.
I’ve just finished BF1. I’m working my way down, I’ll get there. Thanks for checking the vid out, I’m enjoying the tour - hope other 2042ers give them a shot
@@timelessgamer_UK if there is two advices I can give about those older titles is to have patience and when in doubt, always slap c4 on everything.
If you like this game, I recommend you that prove Battlefield 1, maybe somebody don't like the ww1, but is a too much Good game
It'll be done 100%, I'm going to visit them all
