Warrant wrote "Cherry Pie" in just a few hours because the label wanted them to write "a hit" for the album. Whether or not they "had" to do it is an open question, but it is possible their album could've gotten shelved if the label didn't like it.
I actually like the song, as well as a bunch of other Warrant songs, but I do agree that video is downright awful. It's too bad Warrant didn't have success after this album, because Jani Lane was a phenomenal songwriter and had a great voice right up until the end. RIP Jani Lane who would've been 58 years old today.

It seemed like he actually cared deeply about artistry and his heart just couldn't take becoming a joke like this.

Danzig came into a record store in Phoenix, AZ years ago and flipped shit yelling at the store clerk because they had bootleg Misfits 7"s in the used vinyl section. They were Czech Republic made knockoffs that had probably been sitting there gathering dust since before that clerk even worked there. That's some record store clerk lore that has been going around for years. Coincidentally this happened around the time when Danzig got punched out, in that infamous clip that everyone has seen. I think Slipknot did really fucking good job during the Vol. 3 era, I love all the videos. As you said, Duality captured the band's relationship with their fans. Before I Forget was like watching a rehearsal, taking away the masks and close ups of them playing were cool (I can vividly remember the shot of Joey stomping on the pedals). And then it was the Vermilion, I think it is a great piece of cinematography. The women with super animated and jerky movements with world around her going super fast just sets this creepy, tragic and yet somehow sensual mood.
Other than that I don't really care about the music videos really. Usually I really like the live videos, especially for bands that are known for their energy live such as Happiness Is A Smile by TDEP or ETID's The Coin Has A Say. I think it is way more important for a band when releasing an album to keep the same mood or style - for example I liked Vein.fm's videos from Errorzone having that mutilated guy going through some bizzare 'evolution'.

A little tidbit about the Warrent video, another reason he really hated this song was because this song wasn’t a song that they had written for the album. They had already finished the album and they were really proud of the album as it was and the record company came back and basically said they wanted them to make a catchy cheesy song that they could make a video of . So they really never wanted to even make this song they were kind of threatened by the record label and were told if they didn’t make a song like this that the album wasn’t going to be released so it took them about three days to write this song and they recorded it and the record company loved it and it became the lead single and that was the only song they were known for after that.

there is a College Humor video called "The Irrationally Long Number Pi Song". I didn't know that it was actually based on a real song (Cherry Pie)! I only realised now because of this video mentioning it! Thanks for that! I really recommend watching that parody video, it's quite entertaining :)

I can't tell if he's serious about not realizing what the cherry pie song was about.... I'm concerned.
Also, There's plenty of current "music" that would be way more offensive than the cherry pie song as well.

Damn I like Danzig, lol. I totally get the cringe factor and "boring blues jam band" vibe at times. How The Gods Kill, Twist of Cain, Dirty Black Summer, Long Way Back From Hell, Devil's Plaything, Her Black Wings, Left Hand Black....... all classics. I guess a majority of the albums are a pass though.
And Finn, didn't Danzig "do what he set out to do?" LOL I'm making the case :D

Suicidal Tendencies is hella underrated and Join the Army is an awesome album. And I have to agree on Danzig. There are a couple of good songs but the rest of it is not as heavy as it should be. He has a lot of fans tho so he's obviously done something right.

Warrant interestingly weren’t actually 1 hit wonders. They had 6 hits in total, and in America at least cherry pie is their 3rd most popular song. Their song Heaven actually hit No.2 in the US, cherry pie only hit No.10. They also had the song I Saw Red which also hit No.10 and has sold more copies than cherry pie in the US. Worldwide cherry pie is their biggest song though. They had 3 or 4 other hits besides those 3 but none of them reached the top 10 on the hot 100. Sorry for the useless info on a random band most people don’t even remember but that’s my expertise

**Details in sub-comment thread** There is actually a whole story behind the ADTR song. 2nd Sucks is about beef they had with a band that they helped cultivate and put in the good word for to help them get signed, then they all of a sudden acted cold and shitty and actually tried to rip off one of their songs, IIRC, and then said "No, ADTR ripped off of us!" or some shit. I don't actually remember the specifics. All I know is the music critic guy is supposed to be inspired by an actual music journalist from one of those metal music online magazines that used to be big in physical print, who apparently is super nice to their faces and even rates their music highly but then talks shit behind their backs; that, crossed with the CEO of Victory Records, because apparently they both have similar zoot suit douche vibes/aesthetic, like the guy who likes Cake a LOT but is an utterly terrible person and is nothing like the guys in Cake or most of their fans.
