“The Girl With the Slipknot Tattoo” was a great movie
😂😂😂😂😂 now that shit was funny.!
The book was better
I feel honored to be the 69th like on this 🫡
Honestly Slipknot lyrics are still more fucked up than that movie
Laughed like hell at this
Misfits never hid the fact that the logo was from the movie though...
They even had a song about the movie.
.....peehaps you meant; The Misfits logo is the mask which the lead chatacter/arch villain wore to hide his identity in the made for television serial, "The Crimson Ghost". Cheers!
How'd they get away with that? Did the movie ever sue?
@@dalekay9ine i wonder if its public domain at this point
@@dalekay9ine Right that low budget movie from the 30s sued the low budget band from the 80s.
I wouldn’t say Danzig and the Misfits logos are “stolen” as much as they are celebrating things they like. That being said, they owe some people money for sure.
Every deathcore band logo looks the fucking same.
Fight me.
As someone who's always enjoyed deathcore. Yes. I concur.
I'm thinking of death metal logos that you can't even read.
Nobody wants to fight you about something everyone agrees on.
As a deathcore enjoyer, you sir are absolutely correct 🧐

Its always the crazy ones...
I think there's a correlation between being covered in tattoos and bi-polar/manic personality disorder. Not that everyone who gets tattoos is mentally ill, but I think a lot of people do it on a whim because they're impulsive and have a habit of going back and forth. Thus, a plethora of tattoos on a woman becoming a warning sign of the eureka-chica-psycho-loco-mama-baby-lady.
Was she signed to Ferret records?
@@Joseph-vo8ybin my personal life it's a correlation between tattoos and self harm. Tattoos are a healthy outlet for pain and you get a cool picture at the end of it
@@connorpeppermint8635 Hey, yeah, I'm sorry for being insensitive in my comment. I actually have a lot of tattoos and some of them are definitely for that reason. Though I articulated myself carelessly and turned my comment into a joke, I was just meaning to hypothesize about where the stereotype of crazy and tattooed came from (not to make light of mental illness). I'm gonna tattoo a foot to the roof of my mouth now.
As a graphic designer, I can honestly say that all local bands have stupid ideas for logos, and sometimes, we just have to accept it.
But all bands are just local bands at some point..🤔
most of these logos are made when the band is like young right? that would explain why all the logos look like 19 year olds made them

As a Swede I must insist you take back all that Sabaton shade you just threw.
As a fan of good music, they suck.
I like power metal bands like DragonForce and Galneryus, but Sabaton are just kinda meh to me. I was disappointed that their songwriting wasn't more over-the-top. The vocals are also kinda annoying because they're so gruff yet operatic. I'm not particularly interested in learning about war, either.
Bundle of sticks
@@meowtherainbowx4163 That's actually why I like them lol. I'm not usually a fan of Power Metal though, so it might be because they don't sound typical. I could take or leave the war themes tbh. @meowtherainbowx4163 I'm a history teacher. I love hearing about war history, especially World War I. It's power metal. It's cheesy yet great. They are waving the flag for traditional metal.
To argue the misfits logo, anything prior to the 60s is not protected by copyright. So TECHNICALLY it’s free game.
@@Corvoattano13 i was mentioning in another comment thread that the copyright probably lapsed or possibly its public domain
On Graves-era Misfits: They shouldn’t have called it the Misfits. Famous Monsters and American Psycho were and still are hugely inspirational to the entire horror punk sound, even if it’s not cool to admit it anymore in light of Mike’s… online transgressions.

I now need a Finn tier list of all the different iterations of the My Chemical Romance logo over the years.

I had never realized how fundamentally similar the Megadeth logo is to the Metallica logo. It's sad really
Oh I noticed right away.
It doesn't help the 1st letter is the same. And the H isn't that different from an A. Still, I think they could have found something that works. But I give them points off for the Vic Rattlehead on the album covers.

5:15 my genuine question is why does people liking Megadeth in the current year bewilder you so much just because they're so mid to you? Pretty much every band has an itch that scratches someone's ear and Megadeth is no exception. As long as they make themselves different in some way, which they do, people are going to continue listening to Megadeth.
Also, who said it wasn't possible that there's still someone out there now who thinks Megadeth is cool?
Because they're extremely dated and haven't changed their style since 1990. Their mid 90s albums sound even more dated than the 80s ones which is also odd

I used to work at a record store with a guy who went to high school with the future members of Slipknot. Your assessment of how people in their hometown reacted to their band is spot-on.
Also, my dad briefly ran into Slipknot at the Grammy's* a long time ago and security was hassling the guy with the spiky mask to take his spikes out, so he did, and then immediately replaced them with black plastic cocktail straws!
*CONTEXT: My dad worked as a mixing engineer on a jazz album that got nominated for something. IIRC it didn't win, but it was a solid jazz album!
When I was younger, I would read revolver magazine, and would see these ads for relapse records. Saw some advertised albums, like dying fetus and more. One was a band called The End, and their cover art was just an old house. For some reason, I assumed they would sound like some Thursday, or something. I assumed they were like post hardcore, the font was cursive and it seemed moody and possibly emo. Well one day I went cd shopping with my mom, and came across this album. The only one. So, with my assumptions made about what they might sound like, I bought it. Got in the car, popped it in the cd player.....and boy...was I wrong. Pure Chaos! Like 10 car wrecks covered in nails, Acid, and fire. Do yourself a favor, peep The End - Within Dividia. Changed my life as a listener and as a drummer haha

Part of the reasoning behind the Dead Kennedys logo was so you can spray paint it fast on walls.
The My Chemical Romance was FIRST scribbled on the back if a maths book and THEN became a band logo.
Finn's taste feels so unhinged sometimes haha he shits on other kinds of extreme metal but then loves parody level slam bands haha no beef, my taste is probably just as bizarre, it doesn't take much for me to write of a band that sounds exactly like stuff I already like.
He’s always loved slam, he made his own slam a while back
He also likes some shitty scene-core bands
Danzig’s vibe is definitely not for everybody, but the first three records are really good. Not sure if that’s true or not if you listen to them for the first time now
Finn placing that slam band in great music tier while placing Sabaton in the shit tier reminds me of how chronically american he is.
Also, MCR's kogo is great. It looks like it belongs in the notebook of a high school goth kid. Which was exactly their demographic.

I'm going to commit an act of blasphemy, so here goes... For the longest time, I preferred Michale Graves-era Misfits over Glenn Danzig-era Misfits. I didn't start listening to Rock/Metal/Punk until about 1993 (music choice was limited in East Germany prior to 1990). I hadn't heard of Misfits prior to 1995, so when I had the chance to pick up an album after I moved to the United States, my first was American Psycho. I didn't know Glenn Danzig (who I knew as the "Mother" guy) was in the band previously. Later, I bought one of the Greatest Hits compilations and heard the Danzig-era music, I considered it "less-polished and less musically-inclined" than Graves-Misfits.
Sampler CDs! They gave you one song from a band to see if you would like them. Helped me pick albums back in the day.

I will not stand for the badmouthing of Jello's vocals. They may not be everyones cup of tea, but to me, it is still eons ahead of just grunting in a mic, like most metal fromtmen.

I like Logos as well, I tend to prefer Sports Logos, I would love to design my own Sports Logos.
When it comes to bands it’s the music that obviously comes first because it’s an auditory media.
But when it comes to band logos, my taste in logos, I typically don’t like band logos that have that scratched effect design, I don’t like band logos that just have a simple boring word font and that’s it, and Extreme Metal band logos are bad but funny in trolling kind of way how you can’t fucking read anything on it.
So bands that have Bad logos but decent/good music are
Staind
KoRn (their logo is iconic but I just don’t like the look of it)
Deftones (I find their logo a bit boring)
Seether
Slipknot (the tribal S is good but the word font is meh, it does kinda suit them but it’s a bit meh)
Chevelle (I love this band but their logo is boring)
Bands that have good logos and have a respectable level of music are (meaning not fans of them but can respect them).
Slayer
Anthrax
Megadeth
Death
Suicidal Tendencies
Iron Maiden
Van Halen
Bands that have good logos and decent/good music are
Nine Inch Nails
Tool (they have a ton of logos but most of them are good)
AC/DC
Metallica
Bands that have good logos but boring, bad or awful music
Dead Kennedys
Misfits
Poison
The Strokes
The Pixies
Sex Pistols
The Who
Bands that have bad logos and have bad, boring or awful music
MCR
Blink 182
Fall Out Boy
The Killers
Muse
Oasis
Blur
Gorillaz
Arctic Monkeys (Black Sabbath rip off logo)
The Smiths
The Cure
Weezer
Ramones
And bands that originally had a good logo but changed it to a bad or boring logo
Linkin Park (there OG logo was great, then changed to a boring logo, kinda sums them up as a whole tbh though)
Disturbed (there original logo is good, but then changed to a boring word font)
Incubus (their original logo fit them well, and then to a boring font)
Agreed on the Misfits.............incredible. EVERY FALL I re-live all that magic and it never gets old, I just play them loud and get that same feeling as the first few times I heard them. Really good shit.
If Ritchie Valens can be a legend with just "La Bamba" then Megadeth can for "Holy Wars."
Sabaton is awesome. Unironically calling “F@g” the “F Slur” is hilarious.
And holy god Finn has awful takes. Graves era misfits seems objectively better than previous misfits work in every way. I am flabbergasted by the misfits part here
Finn doesn't know if Dead Kennedys are a good band? WTF?? Then proceeds to sing the praises of MCR and Sanguisugabog????
Your Punk Rock MBA is revoked.
When I was around 13-14 my first ever real convent of National acts was Megadeth, I went to see Static-X I was stoned out of my mind- smoking weed we had put into a Merit cigarette we'd emptied out. Megadeth was so shitty we left after about 3-4 songs. There was also another opening band called DDT, and they had songs about pooping, the strangest stage antics and a song called "McDDT" they were trash. Static-X was awesome.
"Nazi rune"? I'm familiar with the formerly German Workers' Party using a different form of German than was in use at the time, but never heard anything about them having their own runic language. The Armanen runes they used were created when Adolf was about 3-years old, so, not runes that belonged to the German Workers'/National Socialist Party. However, this demonstrates they, like almost everyone else that uses "nazi," don't actually bother doing any research on them before talking about them.
How did they get away with stealing those logos? Especially Misfits, they've made more money off tshirts and merch with the fiend skull than their music I'd be willing to bet. Did the creators of Crimson Ghost or that comic ever sue? Anyone know? Interesting.
I first heard about Sabaton from a co-worker who was 18 at the time, they've been his favorite band for years. It really is music for easily impressionable gamer kids. Although I have to admit, when I was a kid in the early 90s I really liked Bolt Thrower because they had some badass cover art with bloody fighting scenes and other war imagery 😄
I bought Infernal Eternal by Marduk cause of the cover art. It was a live 2 disk album. They are actually very good, but the Nazi shit is kinda weird. Also you have to admit the majority of cover purchases were done on the used section, so it was like treasure hunting
How could this guy talk about anything sucking? Nothing sucks more than this guy and his channels, pretending to be the "punk rock MBA" but only knowing screamo music from the 2000s
And to go on about buying CDs from back then... if you COULD listen to a CD in advance at the store, they might have... maybe four bolted down Discman players, if you were lucky, but the odds of actually being interested in the discs chosen by staff to show off at the listening stations was rather poor.
That’s not even Megadeth’s proper logo, that was only used for 1 of their albums. Their traditional logo is pretty damn awesome, especially on their Youthanasia album cover…👌
Not a Megadeth fan but...iPhones suck, I don't get it. I don't get paying literally 600-700 more for a phone that does shit I don't care about or want

I agree Dead Kennedy vocals are pure garbage almost like joke vocals, but even worse somehow because the Uber political lyrics make it pretentious and unlistenable on all levels. Unless you’re like 13 and really want to paint the logo on to your new black leather jacket. Instrumentals mid too IMO. Static age misfits on the other hand, still be holding up. I barely listen to punk at all anymore, but I will revisit static age a couple times a year.
That third logo looks horrible vs slipknot. Basic scribble and here’s our logo.
Edit: Finn your logo should be a cue ball with shark fins. Have your face tiny in the middle, top fin a Mohawk and side fins one saying punk other you.
How to know if you’re a normie or a mutant punk: if you think the DK vocals are too weird/offputting or not. Mutant punks = people who aren’t spikey and listen to the Residents and Einsturzende Neubaten.
I've always been intrigued by the the presence of Slipknot, but I've never been able to get into their music.
The slipknot S is cool, it's instantly recognizable, just like the Dead Kennedys, black flag and misfits logos. I think what you said about those logos being ready to draw in a pre internet age definitely helped spread their name around.
