You're welcome. Amy also had a major impact on making me want to learn new skills (playing jazz chords in particular - I've learned sooo much from her music)

HR Life has been major busy the last few years so I’ve had to take a break from making videos. However, I’ve recently freed-up some time & set up a new home studio, so I’ll be creating new content pretty soon. Im defo gonna do more Coldplay & Amy songs, so keep an eye out for an update vid followed by some fresh tutorials 😉

callmevman it's good to be back man. What did you think of the sound & recording quality? I changed my setup slightly - went DI with the guitar & used a compressor mic for the vocals.

Sounds really clear. Good sound quality. Always love that you put some theory in with the music. Much more learning than just the song itself. Thanks for the good work you do. Shout out from Cape Town.

Kinda off topic- my hands are really small and it’s hard to stretch them out across the different chords, are there any tricks or stretches I can do to make it easier?

    • @DefinitelyDean
      @DefinitelyDean  4 года назад

Playing regularly will naturally develop your dexterity and hand strength - my advice is to play a variety of songs so you hand is forced to move to many different shapes. Having a guitar with a slimmer neck is also a very practical way to solve your problem - Classical (nylon string) is the widest, then steel string acoustic, followed by electric. Taylor acoustics are really good is you have smaller hands, my seagull probably has the widest nut width for an acoustic, which is why you see me using my thumb to play a lot of chords. I hope this helps 😉

I know this is quite an old video but eh I can always try, the song’s a bit too high for me to sing in the original key, could I capo the first fret?

El vide está bueno, pero si pudieras poner los acordes dibujados al costado, para entender bien donde van los dedos mejor. Gracias

When I walk in your shoes
    I understand a man confused
There must have been but I don't care
I feel the way your soul does there
    Darling they empathize
    Looking through your bloodshot eyes
And I know you you're so frustrated
Above we all become what we once hated
Be slight nobody can be that wise
I can't help you if you won't help yourself
No I can't help you if you don't help yourself
You can only get so much from someone yeah
You can get so much from me
I can't help you if you won't help yourself
You've got the degree in philosophy
So you think you're cleverer than me
    ('Cause you so smart)
But I'm not just some drama queen
'Cause it's where you're at not where you've been
So what do you expect from me
    (What do you want)
To hold your head above the sea
    (Keep you high and dry)
And carry you even though you're bigger
'Cause don't you know you crush my tiny figure
And anyway we're still so young
    (Yeah I'm so young)
And this isn't yet the day
I can't help you if you won't help yourself
No I can't help you if you don't help yourself
    (You won't help yourself)
You can only get so much from someone yeah
I can't help you if you won't help yourself
You might be twenty-five but in my mind
I see you at sixteen years oh most of the time
And I'm, I'm just a child and you're full grown
And no I'm nothing like I've ever known yeah
You are like nothing that I ever knew

Those lyrics are wrong. Here are the correct lyrics:
When I walk in your shoes
      I understand a man confused
They much too big, but I don't care
I feel the weight your shoulders bear
      Now I really empathise
      Looking through your bloodshot eyes
And I know you, you're so frustrated
But we all become what we once hated
Besides, nobody can be that wise
I can't help you if you won't help yourself (Help yourself, help yourself)
I can't help you if you don't help yourself (Help yourself, no, no, no)
You can only get so much from someone else (You can only get so much from me)
I can't help you if you won't help yourself (You won't help yourself)
You got a degree in philosophy (Philosophy)
So you think you clever-er than me ('Cause you so smart)
But I'm not just some drama queen (Drama queen)
'Cause it's where you're at, not where you've been
So, what do you expect from me? (What do you want?)
To hold your head above the sea? (Keep you high and dry)
And carry you, even though you bigger
'Cause don't you know you crush my tiny figure?
And, anyway, we still so young (Yeah, I'm so young)
      And this isn't yesterday
I can't help you if you won't help yourself (I can't help you)
No, I can't help you if you don't help yourself (You won't help yourself)
You can only get so much from someone else
I can't help you if you won't help yourself
You might be twenty-five, but in my mind
I see you at sixteen years old most the time
And I, I'm just a child and you full grown
And it was like nothing that I've ever known
You are like nothing that I ever knew
