Hey man, I know the new 18 is rigged a lot different and heavier in the water than the 16 you had before, but I was just wondering if the stability on the 18 is better than the 16. Like my 16 a lot for here in FL, but getting older at 68, and the 16 is not as stable while fishing as I might like, my balance is not quite what it use to be, ha. Thanks, looks like you have a good thing going down in the keys for sure, enjoy.

Having the helm at the bow of the boat seems like a good idea to me for the area. Any storm, Cuban debris, or hidden shipwrecks could create a day ruining situation for the gheenoe.

My fishin' trips in the Keys as a kid always began with a stop at the bait shop for live shrimp. Our live well was just a box built into the raggedy boat we rented. If we caught a few keepers, we were happy. Your bait-catchin' and live well are quite an upgrade.

Unfortunately it is no longer in the family but I spent a lot of time down there growing up. My question is is your home insurable these days. Florida windstorm, flood etc. Great pleasant personality. Very enjoyable. I was an offshore sport fishing captain for years in North Miami. My boat was in Keystone Point Marina in North Miami.

Hannibal Smith: “I love it when a plan comes together!” No dead baits in 5 hours, in June, is awesome! It’s really a great design and I like that it can be removed. One thing I would add, just my own opinion, would be a latch or some kind of leash for the live well cover. Objects on boats that aren’t attached have a way of going MIA. I’d hate to lose that cover blasting across the flats, even though it’s recessed into the top of the well. Murphy is always a stowaway on my boat.😂 Good luck on your next trip!

Was in your neck of The Keys on Thursday and Saturday. Not sure where you keep your bigger boat? My grandmother passed about 8 months ago, she would have been 100 on Saturday. Her favorite place in the world was the old Key West. She didn't want a funeral, she wanted the family to meet on what would have been her 100th birthday. We went out on a fishing boat before sunset and released her ashes. She loved to fish and the family fished in her honor. Can't say enough about the Captain and his crew member.
Highly recommend a trip to the Keys! We stayed in Marathon and had a great time!
Found out they had the annual Gheenoe get together in Key Largo this past weekend.
