This is why people come here. Real reviews . Not a suck up . I love this.
Not to mention he's a trigger snob so this should be interesting

@@georgefloydsinhellwbreonna5330 Well I knew he wasn't gonna like it . Mine was having constant reliability issues
It maybe dangerous at some point just real life.
Sccy has no money to suck up to.
My Lady was going to buy one of these for her first pistol. The guy told her to buy a Canik instead. At the time the prices weren't that far apart. That man was a hero.
I agree.
Me and my woman both got guns the other day.
I got a tp9 elite, she got this.
She hates her gun, and I love mine...
Canik is the way
Definitely great advise he gave you! Just bought a Canik Mete MC9 and absolutely love it.....500 rounds and no failures. In my EDC rotation.....
@@Iron_Father88 YES!!
Got a canik sc on layaway.
I have this gun as my daily carry, it took a while to get used to the trigger but mine is actually very smooth and predictable. I couldn't hit anything with it at first, it was so bad it was almost funny but about the 3rd box of win 115fmj I put through it was like something clicked and now I love it. Love your videos, honesty, humor, keep up the good work 👍
I have one as my daily carry and it never gives me no problem honestly I would trust it with my life my gun idk bout anyone else's I mean I can make mine hit like a glock😂
This gun is fucking junk i bought it owned it for about a week now haven't even shot it over 20 rounds its jammed more then ive shot and the button you push to release the magazine literally fell out of the piece of shit im suppose to send it in this week for warranty but im calling the shop i bought it from first to see if i can return it
I love this gun also. The only problem is cheap ammo jams but that is a easy fix.
@@billyfletcher9388 i daily carry mine and love it. SCCY is definitely a hit or miss company tho
@@billyfletcher9388doesn’t mean it’s junk genius. There’s different factors. Your gun probably wasn’t taken care of.
My son bought the CPX-2 a couple years ago, after me telling him it was a bad decision. When we took it out to the range, one mag worked fine, the second always had failure to feed and jams. Contacted SCCY and they sent him two new mags, both worked fine. Yes, the trigger is crap at first, but if you lube it and dry fire it a lot, it does smooth out. Other than the one mag issue and the trigger, the pistol had no other issues and did group pretty good at 7 yrds, a lot better than the group in this vid. The performance with these pistols are very hit and miss, some are great, while others are trash.
even with good weapons you're gonna get monday guns, like the one your son got and friday guns like the video. it's just way more pronounced when you get to the cheap tier. at least it sounds like these SCCY folks seem to have decent customer service. this video is a pretty great reinforcement for the fact that you have to train with something before you rely on it.
A friend of mine bought one and has had nothing nothing but feed issues. Got two new mags from SCCY and the problem persisted. He had me look at it and it had to be one of the worst engineered firearms I have ever seen. When the barrel would tilt back it turned the feed ramp into a vertical plain causing every round but a rare one now and then to run head first into the feed ramp and stop.
If SCCY wanted to fix this, they either need to have to change the angle of the feed ramp or extend the top of the magazine and rework the breechblock so the bullet is more in line with the barrel like Beretta's Direct Feed System.
After seeing this I can see why some SCCYs have blown-up. Ram a cartridge head first into a metal surface you'll eventually get a bullet being forced into the neck of casing, changing the pressures of the cartridge and possibly causing over pressuring and I don't need to remind people what happens on an over pressured cartridge.
Love my sccy cpx2. I know honest outlaw can shoot the scCy a lot better but for some reason he is not. His attitude it's a crap gun so I'll prove this and shoot crappy.
My work great
It’s a great if you get over the fact that it sucks
A store tried to sell me one of these a few years ago. Pulled the slide back with the mag in and no lock back. Pulled the trigger. Nope. "It's got a lifetime warranty!". I explained that a lifetime warranty means nothing if your life was ended when you needed it to work.
I work in a gun store and we actually try to talk people out of buying CPX's and hi points.
do these kinds of pistols that do not lock back with an empty mag have a name? do like the style or the action have anything to do with that or is this just something lower quality firearms feature?
Yep and nothing's more dependable then a high point it's not quality you not selling it's money you want to make and sccys never failed for me it's actually vary accurate@@YungBeezer

I've got three of these SCCY CPX-2's, and I just love them. With a double-action only trigger, they're not target range guns, but I've put several hundred rounds through each of mine without a single failure. Not one. I trust them 100%. They're made for self defense, and they work just fine for that. They're a simple, small, lightweight gun that's a joy to concealed carry. Maybe I'm just a lucky guy, but I have no complaints about my SCCY's. Some simple advice for those who have had problems: polish the feed ramp and try using just basic, good factory 115 gr. full metal jacket ammo. And keep it cleaned & lubed.
I also had one that had almost no issues other than a a small pin that backed out. Definitely teaches you good trigger discipline and worked well for my large hands. I think there are definitely some good SCCYs out there.
Same , we put over 100 rounds no issues.
These pistols shoot great if you don't shoot them with a limp wrist.
Why is it not a range gun?
Actually, I have to take that comment back. I shot my SCCY at the range last month, along with a couple of other pistols, and I was impressed with its accuracy. So, it is indeed a range gun... you just have to hold the target through the long trigger pull.@@King_drew
My Taurus G3 that I bought last month for $224 plus a $25 rebate has been actually quite awesome. I’ve put 500 rounds of all types of Ammo, some of it total garbage, and it’s been flawless other then a couple of bad primers on the crap ammo. It’s accurate and pleasant to shoot and a really decent trigger. I’d absolutely recommend it.
Bought a G3 Toro myself for 269 before the rebate. Bought it because of the tx22. The barrel finish got destroyed and the slide finish cheap, but highly impressed with the performance for the price. Better than the 509c before the apex upgrade and feels even with the 365xl.
I have g3c
I have G3C, a TX22 and a G3C. All have been reliable. No regrets for me.
@@ChuckMorton I should add that I’ve had a TX-22 competition since they came out and I probably shoot it more than any gun I have. I Love it with a capital L. I decided to give the G3 a try based on that gun and Outlaws favorable review on it……and the sale last month didn’t hurt either!
@@jagpilotohio I have the regular and will probably get a comp when I pay off the no interest CC. We are low cap mags now in WA state, so I needed to buy a ton of mags for myself and my kids.....700+ mags later 😅. MP5 ones at $80 a mag hurt...
Thanks!
I bought this pistol for my wife. That being said, we only had it briefly. The trigger was garbage but I knew that before buying. The key reason we got rid of it was due to the frame design. After shooting awhile, the buldge in the rear of the frame starts to hurt. However, I will say I never had any failures with it.
The PSA Dagger comes with similar. I sanded mine down and it no longer is an issue. Doesn't affect warranty either
I bought this for my wife’s first pistol. She did not it any of the target. My next purchase was a Taurus Judge. If you can’t hit anything with a 9mm, you can definitely hit something with 410 shot shell.

Thank you Chris and Mrs. Outlaw! BRUTAL HONESTY is what sets this channel apart from most others out there- it keeps YOUR audience returning again and again, without the gimmicks, givaways or explosive/incendiary content that is done for 'entertainment'. That said, I DO find you guys naturally entertaining, meaning you don't have to TRY to be interesting, etc. GREAT stuff, as always. Appreciate ya both!!
I like that he goes out an actually buys the guns that he's testing so they're more representative of what anyone else might get buying one off the shelf. Also agree with the hit or miss comment on the quality of lower priced guns, I bought 2 G2c's that both had numerous problems, yet there are lots of reviews out there praising them. I only watch guys like Sootch to get the basic information because I know he's being supplied the gun for T&E and you can bet the farm on that particular gun having been gone over thoroughly by the manufacturer to ensure that everything is working perfectly and will garner a glowing review. That's what's going on with most of the "name" reviewers as good reviews generate sales and they also profit from it as well. I have S&W, Ruger, and Walthers that have all worked great out of the box and that is probably due to better QC and manufacturing practices at the factory. The one reviewed here reminds me of what my experience was with my G2c, even after sending it back for some shoddy warranty repair. It would be interesting to see if this one was sent back to SCCY for repair to see how it would work when he got it back. Of course it they knew he was an online reviewer then that gun might get special attention to detail that the average person may not get in hopes that it would get a second more favorable review once it was sent back.
When I was still selling guns i tried to convince a couple not to get this for the wifes first gun but to no avail they still got it. People love the price and think that the quality reduction is worth it for the small cost of the product.
Trigger is way too heavy for a new shooter. Probably turned her off right away
But the adage is always true buy once cry once. Buy good quality products and you never have to replace it.
I TRIED to Love this GUN.... my first 9mm CC gun...
I bought into all "The Hype" about Joe Roebuck being a genius engineer and it was $400 cheaper than a Glock 26 with the same capacity and RELIABILITY....
The Gun Channels on YT praised it as they flooded the market with this kel Tec P-11 knock-off...
I GAVE it away after a few months!!!
I live this exact struggle everyday at my job. I hate these piles of garbage 😅.
So is that pronounced "sicky" or "sucky?"
Bought one for my wife and we have put a few hundred rounds through it with no issues at all. It has become a daily carry gun for us. It does have a long trigger pull but once you get used to that it has been a great gun to shoot.
Me too man I got the carbon blacc Cpx 2 and its running great I just had to get ust to the trigger but I carry it everyday
I really wanna give SCCY a fourth chance. I’ve owned three CPX 2s a few years ago and all of them had issues. All three have had frame pins walk out and one of them, my daily carry for 3 years needed a new barrel and slide that SCCY sent to me as a free replacement. I’d recommend a Taurus G2C or G3C over the CPX 1 and 2. Taurus also has a $25 rebate through July 31st.
Why give them another chance? If budget is the problem there’s other used options way better/ reliable
@@BroskiOskie54 I agree but it has been years and I was curious if things had improved but after watching this, Im not so sure.
I have a Taurus Pt111 g2 and it’s 100x’s better than this sccy cpx2.
@@BJJrollerT Beretta has a $100 rebate.
Taurus work well, but their trigger is trash 🗑️.
I bought a G2C as my first handgun, and two weeks ago bought the Springfield Hellcat. The difference in trigger quality is night and day.
Mine works great. No feed failures. I used to be terrible with the trigger but after some practice, I can be as accurate with cpx as I am with any other striker guns.
The DAO trigger is actually pretty smooth.
Not sure if yours was defective. (Also, mine is gen 3 so maybe they got some kinks worked out)
Good luck. I have reviewed 2 of their products so far and I have had the CPX2 for probably 7 years. I think everything in that gun has broken at some point. The new DVG-1 seemed a little better out if the box, but accuracy was mediocre at best, even off a rest, and the ejector broke while I was firing it.
SCCY now has a gen 3 version of this gun that they just released that’s supposed to have all the issues fixed.
@@stevenkinnison8044 I have been waiting for one to show up in one of my local shops. I just finally found the dvg1 a month or so ago and was able to review it and compare it to the CPX 2. I was not overly impressed with the dvg 1 so I'm not all that hopeful about the Gen 3 cpx2 either. But as soon as I can find one I'm going to test it out.
@@Preacher357 I bought a CPX-1 brand new and never even fired it and sold it after I felt the crappy trigger pull it had.
@@stevenkinnison8044 I shoot a lot of double action revolvers, so the trigger pull was not that big of an issue to me. The lack of reliability was, however.
Thank you for reviewing this pistol. I'll be scratching this one off the list. You probably saved lives with this review.
The SCCY CPX-2 was my first gun I bought. Hated the trigger but it went bang when it was supposed to so it's ok. Ive since moved on to better things.
Same, my SCCY performed when I wanted it too but once I moved up I never looked back
You can only move up from there...🤣😂🤣😂
The company has the best tooling and machines to produce American made pistols. Its a true shame these are not better. I believe the company has infinate potential, it goes back to design though. I hope scccy steps up to the table.
I love this line of thinking! There's a huge difference between cheap and inexpensive. Sadly today's market has tendency to push folks toward more expensive choices because of poor quality control. Please keep exploring options for folks that find 700 to 1000 dollars way out of reach. Thanks for great content!!!
There is tons of reputable though already thankfully!
Canik is great, I’ve seen the cz p10c going for $400. If you had to go lower than Taurus is probably ok. But I would never advise sccy/high point or a similar brand (unless for memes or torturing a gun).
I dont understand what the logic would be that pushes people to the 700-1000 dollar range like you are suggesting. There are plenty of firearms that are good quality that can be found way under that price range
A used gen 3-4 Glock goes for $300-500. World's better reliability for $200 more. Literally could save your life one day.
I am just gonna put this video here. ruclips.net/video/vTgFs-m59RY/видео.html
I got a s&w sd40ve great cheap buy 260 a few years back
My dad got two of these and gave me one of them as a gift. I got rid of it after taking it to the range once. It was terrible. So many failures and it felt awful to shoot. Mine had a safety on it and where it's placed caused it to bite into my thumb. It was sore for days after. The other one my dad got performed better than mine, but it was still very inconsistent. Some people have good experiences, and that's good for them, but I'll never recommend it. Frankly I don't even think it should be on the market as it is now. Someone might think they're getting a good deal and then this gun could fail in a dangerous situation.
That's unfortunate. I have a ruger lcp2 .22 and had a BUNCH of issues at first. But I spent time with it and sat there and racked about 1000 times, after cleaning it when it was dry to break it in. Then I cleaned it again, greased up the slides and oiled it up and haven't had a malfunction after about 500 rounds. I honestly believe most guns need a break in period, and given a chance. Only issue with any other caliber besides .22 is they're very pricey and in order to do what I did with Ruger lcp2, you would end up spending more on ammo then the gun in the first place, so you might as well have went with a more reliable gun. Sorry for the long reply.
I EDC one of these, picked it up used for $150 because of the failure to feed issues, as a former machinist, i quickly discovered that the problem wasn't the gun, it was the Magazine, took me about 15 minutes to fix the issue with the mags and the two new ones that i purchased didn't have the issue at all. I have nearly 1000 rounds through it now and I have had zero issues with the gun since, now I've had a crap load of squid loads from faulty ammo. I find the feel of firing it to be slightly better than my Ruger Titanium 38 special snub nose, and the wrist snap is much less.
What was the issue with the mags?
Bolt action micro carry. Breaking into a whole new market.
😂
Some guy made a bolt-action Glock conversion kit to get around his state's laws.
@@bwofficial1776 Reno may. He 3D printed a Glock. The only way for him to make it legal was to make it bolt action and to put a giant chunk of metal on the frame.
Might be a bad magazine 🤔
Not gonna speak for everyone but in my experience, my CPX-2 works fine so long as it's maintained. Is it as good as a Glock? No, but it goes bang when I pull the trigger. I've run cheap bulk Blazer through it with no issues and some higher quality target loads with no issues.
My sister asked me to escort her to a gun show to buy her first gun years ago, against all my advise she bought one of these. long story short it literally started falling apart and eventually just stopped ejecting cases all together. Would like to add that this was the snappiest recoiling 9mm I've shot to date.
I'm typing my comment as the video is playing and I hear you guys mentioning all the stuff we experienced! XD.
It's not snappy at all you are not gripping it correctly.
So I had one for a few years. Had zero issues and threw in a MCarbo trigger kit and it definitely help with the pull. Only sold it to upgrade to Shield Plus. Also, agree with the recoil, women I let shoot it HATED it. Just my sample size. 🤘
Great upgrade, as the Shield Plus is a high quality gun.
I own three SCCY pistols. The key to fixing light primer strikes is to disassemble the gun, liberally clean it, use compressed air on the bolt in the ejector and especially the firing pin areas, oil and reassemble. My CPX-2 runs flawlessly and rapid fire from 20yds I can put all rounds inside a pie pan diameter.
Love your channel. Always a honest review and I appreciate your input.
I have two of the CPX-2 that I have had for years and were my first guns . I must have gotten a couple of good ones. No problems with mine, goes bang every time.
Yep, heavy trigger, but that’s also a little bit of a safety. You have to intentionally pull the trigger like on a revolver.
You are correct that there are other guns that will give you a tighter group. For someone who doesn’t shoot anywhere near as often as you do I was getting a little better groups than what you experienced. I think you got a bad gun.
Started out as my EDC, Not my EDC Currently.
Anyway, great review. Just disappointed the SCCY didn’t preform as well as mine have.
I love mine you have to keep it clean and oiled. Perfect for carrying.
I got my wife theCPX2 pink 9mm and we had massive fesd issues which was caused by the magazine. The company addressed 5his and did sent us 2 new mags right away. Since then we've had zero issues. I made a video on it. I also got the laser which is pretty accurate.

Loved the fact that THO explored the possibility if a cheap firearm is any good.
Sometimes you get a whole lot more by paying just a few dollars more. It has been my experience never to ask for whatever is the cheapest. You usually will get disappointed.
I've always found that if you move up literally one tier from the cheapest stuff, that's where the best value is.
Like instead of SCCY or Hi-point, get a Taurus or a Ruger and you'll have something halfway decent.
Move up yet one more tier to the sort of lower end of mid-range, and that's where you'll get stuff you are actually happy with. M&P and the like.
That is why I subscribed, for real reviews. I have the SCCY SPX-1 and -2. The 2 worked great for me. I passed the range time with a 97 with the 2 and did better after shooting it a few time. I didn't get the gams like you did except with steel rounds. Also after I oiled the gun as it came pretty dry. But now it doesn't work. I cleaned it and when I install the slide it stops. With a sound of metal hitting metal. I don't know what is wrong with it but something is messed up. I'm going to try the SPX-1 at the range and see how well that works. I'll let you know.
My wife’s cousin bought one of these in .380. She rarely shot it. I am an experienced shooter and was amazed how shitty the trigger is on this gun! Also even with .380, it’s got considerable recoil.
Yeah, you can get a Ruger LCP for about $100 more; I've heard *nothing* but good things about those pistols.
I actually thought the 380 version shot quite good I had great groups
I have the same gun with the same issues. They sell a replacement trigger that takes the pull from the 8+pounds that it is to a little over 4 pounds and that helps immensely! They also sell a stainless replacement recoil assembly. Great reviews on weapons! Keep up the good work!
My gf has one and we had the same problems then I broke it down and cleaned and oiled it really well and haven't had an issue with it sense and she has put about 2000 rounds threw it
A few years ago I bought a used M&P Shield for the same price. I then splurged and bought a threaded barrel. To say I am very pleased is an understatement! No failures. Accurate. The extended magazine makes your hand fit it like a glove. Worth hundreds of dollars more. Get one. Even Chris likes it/recommends it in one of his past videos.
The blowback is an added feature to remind you to wear eye protection. Their motto is, "Making Hi Point look good."
Might as well buy a high point and save 100 bucks because at least the hi point will work
Sccy is a great gun just a bad trigger pull
Hickok45 had an issue with 115gr ammo. Maybe if you ladies wouldn't be so cheap with your ammo selection and having a limp wrist while shooting, you wouldn't have issues.
@@Honkers716 I'm sure you meant for that comment to make sense. Maybe try again if and when you sober up.
@@bjs301 Thanks, I edited it for you Karen, better?
I'm a big believer in "buy once, cry once". Thanks for reaffirming that.
I bought this pistol as a first time gun buy and will be getting rid of it as soon as possible. Thanks for the honest review. I actually watched several reviews before my purchase and they were relatively positive, but why roll the dice on my life
Sorry to hear that for your first buy. There are much better guns out there including affordable ones. For example, you can get a 1.0 S&W Shield for maybe $300, used less. And, it's a very very reliable quality gun from a quality brand.
You can get an MCarbo trigger spring kit for about $30 that'll at least take the trigger from 10lbs to 5lbs so for the time being you might want to look into that.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been using a 40 and was looking for a 9mm due to the ammunition being cheaper. I was taking a glance at that and that is how I found your channel. I'm looking into shooting more often with my buddies so I'm in the market to get more firearms. Thanks for the review because I was seriously considering this because it was cheap. You just saved me some money.
I had a cpx-2 a few years ago in the first 100 rounds the ejector sheered off an bounced off my head. But I will say that sccy does have great customer service
I had a C3P0 when I was a kid...
I imagine their customer service gets plenty of practice.
Just pulled out several of my firearms- including my 2 SCCY’s… all hit what I aimed at. I polished the feed ramp on my SCCY and have had no issues. Great little pistol. Snappy, and gets semi-lost in my hands-but I’m a very big guy. Nothing but love and I don’t care where or when I have it.
I never shot the CPX 2 but I did shoot and own the cpx-3 a few years ago and was actually impressed on how well it shot I had excellent groups and it fed everything. It had to steel guide rod and seem to be very well milled and built. The trigger was on the heavier side but it was only a hundred and $165 gun at the time
I am a gunsmith and FFL dealer. SCCY CPX2 is on sale right now. And Galloway precision makes a awesome aftermarket trigger for it as well
Mcarbo brings down the trigger pull to around 4.5 lbs. makes a big difference when shooting.
There is a trigger kit available for around 75 bucks. You are right about the break in, however mine was good right out of the box. But the trigger is so heavy that it makes the gun hard to shoot well. Also to the blowback that you were having, I've not had any issues with that. I got a g3c to replace the cpx2 as my carry gun. Just couldn't get past the heavy trigger.
Right but that defeats the purpose of a budget gun
Mcarbo trigger kits 30.00 dollars. make a world of difference from 9 pounds to a little under five pounds.
@@martinhristov3670 Does it? You still have a perfectly functional gun for $200. A few months later, you're kind of sick of the trigger, but you have some bucks to spend, but maybe you rather like the SCCY except for the trigger. They're two separate purchases, you don't need an upgraded trigger if you know how to use the one that comes with it.
Bought two, and due to your video, I moved up my range day testing. Sure enough, one died in under 60 rounds. Started with multiple hang fires then will not fire. The second one, however, kept working. Before I send the first back, I will take that second one and get a few hundred rounds through it to ensure it stays working. In the process, I will also test all 4 magazines and send the two that have failure to chamber back with the dead gun. Not a good way to start, but I do like American-made as long as it works. I like the size, weight, and price, but it stops there. Two new CPX-2 RD for about $180 each. Has to work better before I carry it. Had better luck with Hi-Point.
Hey Chris. Excellent spot on review! I have this gun too. One of first purchases after a Herriatige Rough Rider. Got custom grip tape, looks and feels good. Still very twitchy gun with the worst trigger ever. Not fun to shoot, but was reliable on a hundred rounds.
I love my G3c.
i used to work for scuzzy, i made some fine pistols during my tenure. they are otherwise scheisse. if you have a serial of 2.1 million or before, theres a 1/5 chance i made it. i always took pride in my work and every gun i made functioned flawlessly when it left my bench. the materials were garbage however, and i had to eventually make a titanium firing pin for mine, after it broke about 2k rounds, it would be a competent pistol if the materials were better.
They have all the best machinery. Their potential to make great guns is there. They need to step up to the table.
I have the CPX2-RD with the crimson trace red dot. It was cheap, dispsable and a good pocket gun with 9mm ammo. For what it costs, it's fairly impressive. The trigger is long but it works... with decent ammo, I have not had the jam issues he had.
You have an astromech droid?
I guess I got super lucky. The sccy that I got hasn’t had a single malfunction yet. 🤷🏻♂️
My buddy bought one for his wife over a year ago. Swears that’s she’s never had an issue with it. She came out shooting with us recently and brought it and told me that she had never fired it before. So over a year carrying it in a purse and never once practiced with it. So we shot it. Pretty much same experience. like deja vu. I actually found myself getting pissed off again watching you struggle with it too lol.
I've had mine for 7 years now and It's a black and stainless one as well. The only problem I've had is the magazine springs we're in backwards and it had feed issues at first. Once I put the magazine springs in correctly it has worked flawlessly. You might want to see if your mag springs are in the correct way.
Wow, I'd hate to have to do this for a new gun. It makes me wonder what else is in backwards.
@@laronrosser294 Nothing else is in backwards or the pistol wouldn't function at all. The magazines are probably outsourced and seriously, something as simple as the magazine springs being put in backwards is ridiculous but easily fixed by turning them around yourself. Not all had this problem either and work perfectly from day one right out of the box. You might want to see if your brain is in backwards after your stupid comment, because the problem is in the magazine and not the pistol itself.
If that gun is SUPPOSED TO lock back on empty chamber, and isn't...you need to stretch the spring in the mags (or replace them with stronger compatible springs). My cheap Diamondback DB9 had the same issue out-of-box---and I researched it, found a gun forum discussion; and that was their answer. I stretched mine, and it locks back every time now. Apparently it doesn't take long for the DB9 springs to shrink back, so a lot of people were saying they bought Kel-Tech mag springs and cut a couple coils off, and had no issues since. The mag spring isn't pushing the next round hard enough apparently.
Love the videos bro...keep um coming.
I really like the sights and the finger grooves, trigger break is waaaaaay too long and around the same price point the g2c blows this outta the water
I have a cpx-1 that I have had for three years. I did have failure to feed problems when it was new but I called SCCY they thought it was the magazines, they send me two new ones and that fixed mine. I just bought a new cpx-2 about a week ago and it shot good out of the box. What surprised me was the trigger is better than my cpx-1. The cpx-1 trigger broke at 7 to 8 lbs., my new cpx-2 breaks at 6 lbs. I have fired a box of shells(50) and no failure to feed at all. For some reason neither of the pistols like 124 grain bullets. 115 and 147 are very accurate, 124’s are not. SCCY and Hi-Point both deserve more recognition. The problem with Hi-Point 9mm is they are too big for concealed carry. I own a 9mm and a 45acp Hi-Point, they are great truck or fishing guns. When you buy cheap pistols they will need to be broken in.
I bought this years ago as my first gun to see if I would enjoy shooting sports and it nearly turned me off (glad it didn't). I had to send it back three times and finally had them send me a different one. The biggest problem (of many) I had was if you squeezed the trigger slowly, often the hammer wouldn't release until you started to release the trigger. So, the shot would break on the way to reset. Not good.
Yup! Mine was horrible. Absolutely horrible.
I’ve owned a few SCCY’s and I have not had one in about 5 years lol. It was basically a truck gun. I never had the failure issues you had today, however, mine was extremely inaccurate. I’ve gotten to the point to where it’s worth it to just pay the extra $100-$200 and get a Shield, which is the cheapest gun I own. I love your reviews brother. I just ordered the Extar and it will be at my FFL this week. I purchased a Langdon Tactical PX4 because of your review. One of the best guns I’ve ever purchased.
I have had one for years and it was my EDC for at least 4 years. With the G2C and others in the same price range this gun isn't the deal it once was. I had no failures with factory ammo and was able to shoot it well at self defense ranges. The only ammo it choked on was my hand loads which had some length issues.
I have a S&W SD9VE. It's a great gun, never had any issues with it, reliable, accurate, looks nice, decent price...... Except the trigger. It's a gritty 8 or 9 lbs pull and breaks literally on the frame. I just got my Galloway Precision spring kit and the Boudica trigger for it. Just gotta find time to install. I found my for $300 brand new and love it.
A friend of mine got the MCARBO SW SD9VE Trigger Spring Kit which took the trigger pull down to a much smoother 6 lbs from 9+ lbs. A world of difference and accurate shots made much easier. Surprisingly reliable for the price point.
Just do the trigger conversion take out the spring my dad did with his 40 ve
The only problem that I've seen over the years with the cpx2 is that not all are the same, sometimes you will get one that's really well put together then sometimes you will get a very crappy one with the problems that he's had in this video. I have a desert tan and black SCCY and it's been an awesome handgun. I have a Glock 19 that has performed just a little bit better than the cpx2 and the Glock is worth a lot more with almost the same performance but I'm not an Expert like our guy here is. Thank you for doing a video on the CPX2 I just think you had gotten a crappy first run SCCY. I really suggest that you go to a dealer that doesn't hate SCCY handguns because the person that sold you that one sold you a return that has been made to look good. I've never received a SCCY with rusted sights. Think RUclips needs to look into you ways because something isn't right here. My mom is 73 years old and fires her SCCY cpx1 wiout any issues.
@@anthonyarcher7268 yea no crap I noticed that as well, I think the shop he bought it from sold him the crappiest SCCY ever made because they don't like SCCY and wanted it to fail. I don't like this video because it's bs. I've had 10 cpx2 and 3 cpx1 and not one of the have ever been as jacked up out if the box like that one is
@@anthonyarcher7268 I mean USCCA gun testers show that they have done the 1000 round review and done real brutal things to the gun and it still fired and never jamed like the one he has did. I call bs on this video.
@@anthonyarcher7268 have you noticed that he didn't like my response? He doesn't like it that I'm calling him out on his bs
Yea I was on the fence about buying one now I will not waste my money on that pos thanks for the review video
A good feed ramp polishing and an aftermarket trigger kit makes this gun one of my favorites. Should do a few mods and come back to re-review. I've had zero issues and nothing but good to say about mine since it was modified. 😃
I have a CPX 1 that I got years ago, shot and had jams like this and put it away. I just got back to a trip today after digging it out after years and put over 150 rounds through it flawlessly. I think they can also be picky about ammo? It's definitely a cheap gun but there's been worse certainly for more money. Frankly for the overall package I think these guns beat Hi-Point for the packaging.
This is a gun I have found when you buy new you want to shoot through a couple mags and then immediately clean it. Because it leaves shavings and debris in the gun which can cause jams and other malfunctions. Though once you get it broke in it's fairly reliable. Many of the people who have reliability issues with this gun don't do that.
THE SECRET OF SCCY PISTOL FAILURES...It's not the gun or the ammunition, the failures are caused by the magazines...To correct the problem, you only need to gently sand the upper inner edges of the magazine and PROBLEM SOLVED, the edges They are rough, this makes it difficult for the ammunition to enter the chamber...
Good comment!
I bought this gun for myself and the only problem I had with it was the slight was just the hair off and I got it calibrated and now it works great
Interesting. I picked up the exact same gun at Sioux Falls Scheels for $149, used (hardly)... Definitely no rust or wear on mine. I've put a few hundred rounds through it (mostly cheap aluminum cased too) and never had a single failure. I feel like you may have gotten a lemon. 🍋 Or - maybe I just happened to get mine right after the break in period and now it's reliable?
Maybe you just got a factory fluke
@@dilldowschwagginz2674 hey, if mine is a "fluke" by being one of the reliable ones, I'll take it 😂 seems like hear about a 50/50... Either they're super reliable or complete junk. Maybe the factory isn't consistent with like, tolerances and stuff with slides and internals and it's just batch by batch differences. Sorry that was long winded just thinking out loud!
You got lucky man lol. These things are terrible guns. He’s got the same issues I had and tons of others had. It’s so unreliable.
When I got my SCCY 3 1/2 years ago had similar problems for the first 200 rounds. I took the gun apart and polished the feed ramp and smoothed the top lips of the magazines that came with the gun and the problems went away. Have not had these problems since. Did not like the long trigger pull either. So I just recently I installed a modified trigger that one can get from Galloway Precision that reduces the trigger pull by 50%. This gun now works great and still no feed problems.
PSA had the Taurus G2C for $199.99. My cousin just bought one and we’re going to run some rounds through it here soon. Wonder how this SCCY compares to it.
Ok after watching the video I hope his Taurus runs better. 😂
Ive had the G2C for 3 years... actually got it for $125 with rebate. Well over 1000 rounds with zero fails. Hands down the best handgun under $200 in my opinion
6k rounds through my G2C and only 1 failure, fte from a light powder load.
5k rounds through my G2C and no issues. Plus side is the trigger break is so clean.
The Taurus G2c/G3c are great guns for the price. I have the G3c, and I've shot several hundred rounds through it with no issue. Taurus' "G" series guns are very reliable. My brother also have a Taurus TX22, and it is a very fun "plinker," and very reliable. He also has this SCCY, and it is exactly as in Honest Outlaw's review -- horrible gun.
I've had a TAURUS PT111 G2 for years... precursor to the G2C.. fantastic gun... hundreds of rounds thru it, no issues... trust it with my life.
I own a cpx-1. Same gun except mine has a safety. I think most of the failure to feed problems is the clip. When mine was new I had failures about every couple of clips. Called SCCY they sent me two more clips(no problem). No more failure to feed. I have now had mine three years, it is now my carry gun. I’m used to revolvers so the trigger doesn’t bother me. Mine prefers the 115 grain but I have shot 90 grain hand loads with no reliability problems. I don’t know if you got a bad one but at ten yards I can put a full clip in the center target. That is accurate enough for self defense.
Wow, that was brutal to watch. I do love the honest reviews and was really rooting for it
Been carrying one for 2 years. I've had 3 fail to feeds that were resolved with a tap on the back of the slide in about 1000 rounds. Once you get used to the trigger, accuracy is fine for a compact.
A co-worker bought a CPX-1 (manual safety model) and it couldn't get through a mag without a failure. And even worse it was rarely the same failure twice.
I own the CPX1. I never had a failure to fire ever. None.
Has trigger similar to double action revolver. The most common problem with this gun is ftf. The fix is sand and polish polish inside magazine lip, if you feel it with your fingure tip, very rough and sharp. I did that to my gun, never had a problem, fairly accurate too . To shoot more accurately just pull trigger half way. Then aim and fire. Less trigger travel ..Red dot helps alot too. my experience using the gun.
Well this went about as expected. Thanks for the review
It went that way because he used the one Ammo they say in the Manual that comes with the gun not to use. He literally said he used steel ammo. He is conning people by not pointing out he did what the manufacture advises not to.
I have one, and it required a tiny bit of trimming at the rear lip of the mag. It has been flawless since.
This was an OK gun for me, especially as a starter pistol - clearing jams and no safety can teach trigger discipline. I had jams aplenty which turned me off from it as an EDC.
Youre the first to say people had bad luck with the G2C and G3C platform. Ive NEVER heard of someone getting a lemon and Ive literally watch 100 reviews and read just as many.
SCCY will replace that gun. I own 2 SCCY's and I never expectance the problems you had.
Me as well !
I , at a time, owned a Remington Mod 51...its suitable as a cat fishing bottom weight..even after being sent to the factory for repairs, it would jam, not eject, and more times than not, not even discharge.....reminded me of a jennings rimfire..that never ran smooth...great review on the CPX-2
It's more like a 38 special. Up close and personal. Your reliability issues are unique from what I've heard. Iraq veteran 8888 did a review torture test and it performed well.
The finger grooves don't line up for me and the trigger and reset is horrendous. So it's a no go for me.
IV 8888 reviews depend on how much money the company is willing to pay
@@anthonyarcher7268 polishing a turd, still leaves you with a turd. 😂😂
The magazines need the feed lips polished & adjusted a bit wider for earlier release of cartridge, then they feed well. For lock back, bend the top coil upward for more pressure on rhe follower. Replace the springs with M Carbo kit. Galloway Presision has the short stroke kit that does reduce the stroke, but is still way to heavy for accuracy & comfort. If your stock trigger fails to release the hammer, you get one of the aftermarket adjustable triggers or remove material from the frame, behind the trigger. Usually 18-20 thousandths clearance at trigger to frame will allow proper trigger function. Replace the finger rest magazine with the flat plates, if you get pinky pinch. Polish the feed ramp to a shine. The SCCY can be very reliable. With practice, they are accurate. You can send it back to SCCY for warranty work, if you don't want to tinker with it or invest more money for aftermarket parts.
Great review, it is very helpful when you review the guns that most bargain hunters will buy.
I purchased cpx2 long time ago and apparently I was the lucky one who’s gun actually worked. It was stolen from car, recovered in drug bust, and returned. It sits in my safe sill in the sealed evidence box from PD. My edc is m&p shield ✌️
We know you can shoot, so the accuracy issues are trigger and overal gun related issues. This particular gun seems plagued with problems. This gun, the Taurus G2C and G3C, are all close in size and price. These might be a good match up video.
I have put 2-300 rounds through my cpx 2, yes it has a loooong trigger. Got in the habit of flicking my trigger finger forward to reset, get past the long reset. Went from a 1911 to the Shield .45, to the Sccy cpx2 as a carry gun. As a tool I am familiar with, it works
I was torn between the g2c and the sccy cpx2 as my first pistol purchase. Went with the sccy and boy what a dumpster fire that gun was. Even after sending into sccy it was still incredibly unreliable and got traded in.
G3C: send it
Don't even give it a thought...buy the G2c. You won't be disappointed.
Bruh just spend an extra $200 and buy a P365. Is your life worth being a cheapskate?
G2c is far better, i have both.

Just found your channel, and subscribed. Straight up honest reviews with no bias is gold, especially during these harder times for most folks. Much appreciated!
GUARANTEE the hi point c9 will run better than the SCCY pistols
SCCY has been one of the best that I've ever bought and handled never jammed up never had a issue at all is Right On Target 7 to 30 50 yd it works great and I love it
I love the HONEST reviews! I think you either got a REAL lemon OR I got an exceptionally good SCCY!! BUT, mine was a CPX1! I was consistently able to hit 50-yard targets and at 25 yards had a consistent 3.5-inch grouping! Also, with the one I had, I never had any problems with failure to feed/fire, and the trigger reset wasn't nearly as bad as the one you "Feature" here! BUT, the mags that came with mine WERE Mec Gar mags! I'm wondering if the mags might be PART of the overall crappiness of that particular gun?
I got rid of the one I had because I don't have good hand strength anymore and couldn't reliably rack the slide! I opted for a S&W Shield EZ! NO problems with racking the slide! I watched your video on that one, too!
Sometimes you eat the Bear and sometimes the Bear eats you! Good thing you were having to depend on that one for your life!
Yesterday I bought a ROSSI 641, 357MAG.. Only shot 27 rnds on it for its first test, using 158gr .38 SPLs.
As I was cleaning it last night the cylinder and its crane came off in my hand.
I did not lose the screw from the frame, it was still in there, just loose. Memories of my father with his Ruger Blackhawk! Kept shooting the screws loose. Blue screw- tight time.
I had this pistol briefly:
The trigger weight is absolutely horrible. It’s nearly impossible to fire more than a round in under .75 seconds with any level of accuracy.
Overwhelming majority of solutions happen point blank. Watch Active Self Protection.
@@TingTingalingy we don't equip and practice for the most common, we practice and equip for the worst case scenario. the eli dickens made his first few hits on the mall shooter from 40 yards away. he did so in order to make him to stop shooting people. if he had not made the 40 yard hit, more people would be dead in that incident.
@@cagneybillingsley2165 lol that's one of the silliest responses. Not even the fbi trains for long range 😆
I bought a trigger kit for this and my trigger pull is now 4 lbs. I've had no issues with my CPX-2 after 2 years. Easy to conceal and comfortable in my hand with the mag finger extension.
@@TingTingalingy is it a silly response to be able to train for worst case scenarios? Close range is best case scenario and we can practice that with very little effort but why limit yourself? as far as fbi "training," they shoot on their own so they can shoot however they see fit as long as they qualify every year
I just purchased one with optic for 275. I mean it does kick for sure. As far as the failure to feed a minor adjustment to magazine fixed it. Not a bad shooter overall and no real issues since adjustment.
Sccy really dropped the ball on this gun. It was one of the first , LIGHTWeight affordable double stack 10+1 small guns to hit the market . Also, they made them fashionable with all the different colors which was genius .Unfortunately , it was plagued with issues and by the time they’d gotten things situated, other manufacturers were flooding the market with their versions. Then they screwed up again by trying to sell them in the $300 -400 range , but Taurus completely took that market by storm and buried them. Had they put a better trigger on those things early in the game , it would be a contender today
my first gun ive ever bought and had for 3 years so far. 0 issues for me but only 4000 rounds right now its just a backup i keep in my bug out bag
I've had three of these over the years. Never experienced the failures like you did except with one. That turned out to be a bad factory magazine. SCCY not only replaced the bad mag, they sent me another one for free. Ultimately sold them due to being no fun to shoot because they are so light...If I were on a budget and couldn't afford anything else I'd buy another.
Still have mine, worst gun in the collection. That said, it does work but is really snappy and has a huge break in period. I hated this gun like HATED it until I kept shooting it. It is just something to keep in the truck/car not worry about it being stolen etc. It’ll serve it’s purpose when needed. I bet the 1,000rd review is better than the initial review. Love the channel and info thanks for the content.
Ah yes, the SCCY series of pistols. Worst purchase I ever made, tore mine apart and practiced slide engraving and stippling on the frame.
snagged an olderCPX-1, years ago...have lots of rounds downrange with it, including plus p plus loads..and it literally stings your hand really stiffly..however, after over 2500 rounds, I have had 3 failures to feed, and never seen any blowback coming from rear of slide, like shes seen with this one..maybe ya got a lemon.....and maybe I got an exceptionaly good one..don't know how to view this...but ya def rock brother. cudos to the wife too...ya all rock..
And here I thought SCCY was pronounced Sucky, so you knew what you were getting.
I have a CPX2 and it functions perfectly. I got it used in a trade so perhaps any bugs it may have had were already worked out. Just put the MCARBO spring kit in it. Trigger feels great and controllable. Looking forward to trying it out at the range. It was a great shooter before. I have high hopes. Thanks for the down to earth reviews!
I've had sub $200 HiPoints with significantly fewer malfs than this gun. Wow.
I mean there's inexpensive and then there's cheap. SCCY sure does seem to be embracing the suck.
I finally shot my CPX-2. I put 190 rounds through it today and only one time did it malfunction. If I had to guess it was probably around round 100. The slide stuck open with 2 rounds left in the mag.
Triggers ridiculously long but as a light conceal for 10-15 yards it was pretty accurate. For $150 i don’t regret purchasing it.
Absolutely NOT.. Hard pass.. rusting out of the box was the first red flag and after Taurus, even $200 guns have luxury and quality expectations 😂
My Taurus PT840 is one of my best firearms and it was $240
@@jorkeemmcgill6466 I’ve been waiting for Taurus to find a way to make a smaller conceal option for .40 or .45 like Springfield offers but for now I trust my life to my G2C daily and about to pick up a GX4 soon.

I have had the cx-1 for years no problems at all, I dropped it out of my bag and broke off the rear site, They rebuilt the whole pistol. Just got the cx-2 and it has about 200 rounds thru it and no problem
