Plus that actress totally embodies a bad ass that punches above her weight !! I’m going to be completely honest here…regardless of plot. I thought the fights in this episode were some of the best fights of Star Wars-and that’s not a knock to any great duels we’ve gotten in the Prequels or other live action shows.
    Just my opinion, but as much as I adore the prequels, when comparing the duels of those to the duels of, say, Ahsoka or the Acolyte, it’s no competition on which ones feel more balanced between realism and flashiness. The prequel fights are iconic, epic and legendary, but put your biases aside people, many of the prequel fights are excellently choreographed and feel like a dance between them. Not knocking them whatsoever, but there’s so many moments in those fights where the characters don’t even look like they’re trying to kill each other, just aiming for the sabers and doing the memorized choreography. In the Acolyte and especially episode 5, it was straight up life or death and the fights were absolutely excellent, especially when it was 1 on 1 between the Sith and Jecki or Sol.
    I just see it as night and day. I think the Prequels’ flaws can be so easily overlooked bc of nostalgia and how much we love them, but there’s flaws in everything, no matter how excellent. Great choreography in the Acolyte definitely doesn’t excuse plot defects, but I just thought episode 5 was really great and intense. I’m still surprised at how shook I was when Jecki and Yord got killed off.

      You stated it best, both fights in this and in the prequels are epic for their own reason. Both are fast moving and intense. Idk why the choreo needs to look identical. Especially when it's a completely different generation. It feels like if people complained the prequel fights are too fast compared to A New Hope. different generation and different form of training.

      Also even if say a Plagueis or Tenebrous shows up and kills Smylo and all the Jedi who know about the Sith, then what even was the purpose of the show? Not only that, it makes the Jedi look like absolute idiots that nearly a dozen Jedi go missing and they don’t notice anything.

    This episode felt like a good step up from the first 4.
    Like, this episode not only showed a pretty great long fight scene, but it also finally showed how bold it is for killing off some of their major characters, in quite a gruesome way.
    And ngl, that Sith was pretty badass and quite competent compared to May(except the moment he baldly reveals himself to be a Sith)
    Like, this episode finally did the things I kinda wanted to expect from a acolyte show, even surprising me at times.
    Still, not as great as the directors said it was, they should stop doing Claims to make people excited, and just let people be the judge of it
    Still, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this episode saved the whole show for Me, the first 4 where still pretty terrible and ep5 also still had issues, but, if the last 3 episodes keep the same momentum going from ep5, this could potentially save this show from being awful, and end up being Just OK for me.
    But I’m not expecting anyone to agree with me

      I agree. Really easy to pour on the hate, but this was definitely a decent episode. They pushed the violence and that was cool too. Between Sol, his Padawan, Osha and the “sith “ they had potentially great characters. Just wish it was like that from the start without the lore-breaking and virtue signaling.

      The first 3 episodes were mediocre, but 4 was decent. I think Ep 5 was pretty good, and that long fight scene was pretty decent. I called the Sith's identity, and all that, but I think he was badass, killing multiple Jedi and holding his own in a lightsaber fight against numerous jedi at the same time. I wish they hadn't try and one up anakin's immaculate conception, and some other lore breaking.

      This sounds like it's probably the best episode we've gotten so far (not saying much after four episodes of 'mid' to "WTF IS THIS SHIT?!"), but remember, we've actually got 2 episodes left of 'present day Acolyte', and likely one episode of 'Sol's POV of what happened when the stone burned during episode 3'. Odds are that we'll get the flashback episode for episode 6, which will (again) throw off the pacing and kill off the momentum all this action and death have built up.
      Genuinely hope I'm wrong though.

    I went back and watched the opening fight between Qimir and the Jedi again...I don't see them standing around swinging their lightsabers as you describe. I do see their lightsabers glitching on and off from the Cortosis armor he is wearing...but what I think you see as being the Jedi standing around swinging the lightsabers is actually them attempting to hit him, but failing to do so OR their sabers glitching out. If his cape, helmet, bracers, and everything else he was wearing had Cortosis weaved into it, all kinds of weird things could happen during a lightsaber or blaster fight. We'll have to see if that is explained later. The fight was NOT better than the PM fight scenes tho. That was a ridiculous claim. That said...I didn't hate the fight scenes. I did hate how Yord Fandar was running through the forest with his lightsaber lit. Jedi wouldn't do that I don't think. And I hate that they killed Jecki. She had the most promise to become something interesting to the show (outside of Qimir). Lastly I hate Mae's flip flopping. That is weak/afterthought type writing that I absolutely lothe.
    I don't understand why people are getting bent out of shape about Qimir using the force to float down. We have seen Count Dooku do it in the Clone wars. Jedi float when the Meditate. If Yoda can gently lift a X-Wing out of the swamps on Dagobah, why couldn't any force user do that to their own bodies? I mean come on now!
    Another interesting point...Sith Lords do not look for Acolytes. They look for apprentices. Apprentices look for Acolytes to be used as tools. What Qimir wanted in Mae was much more akin to what we saw Maul do for Sidious...he was an assassin, and that is what Qimir wanted for Mae. He could sense that she could be nothing more than an assassin, and he manipulated things to bring that out in her quite effectively. Maul, though given a "Darth" title, was little more than a tool. Dooku was Sidious' REAL Apprentice. Sidious used Maul's rage to his benefit...nothing more. Maul distracted the Jedi away from Sidious. I am guessing it was Qimir's intention to do the same with Mae. But now he's been outted...and he knows something about Sol (and the rest of the Jedi who were there the night the stones burned *gigglesnorts*).
    Interestingly we saw Maul with the yellow/red eyes, but not Dooku. Dooku never fully gave into the rage and anger so his eyes did not change. Qimir is either not a Sith (becuase he actually said "you Jedi would call me a Sith" (meaning the Jedi saw anything that wasn't their brand of force usage as Sith like) not "I am a Sith", or he is a sith that hasn't become completely engulfed by the anger and rage that change the eye color. It could be that Qimir's Master is not a Sith. His Master might be like Snoke was to Kylo Ren. Snoke was not a Sith.
    My guess is that Sol will return to his group and tell them he does not know what Qimir is...only that he is proficient with the Dark side of the force. Master Mundi's statement will still stand true as long as Qimir is not actually a Sith. I guess I will have to keep watching to see how they handle this.

    The show is absolute shit, but we must have been watching different fights, because that choreo was excellent. Especially after watching it a 2nd time. The Jedi did not hold back. They went after his openings and he was just better. Two of them died attacking what they thought was an opening. His cortosis armor also gave him a leg up. The rest of the fights throughout the show, were also really well done. I'd definitely put it up there with Phantom Menace. 5/10 episode....Sol not killing him took off 3 pts. I hate Osha

    I know I shouldn't feed the grift, but Imma take the bait. Let's go bit by bit.
    1. Choreography: You're delusional or intentionally oblivious if you think the Phantom Menace duel doesn't have these issues as well. Go watch it again, it's full of pointless swings, strikes directed at the blade instead of the body and missed chances to end the duel just for spectacle. Because that's the point: spectacle. The most "realistic" fight in the whole saga is probably Kenobi vs Vader in Episode 4, and even there you have pointless twirls.
    2. Lore breaking: The argument has never been "this is not a sith", it's always been "the jedi have no reason to believe this is a sith". Again, you're either stupid or intentionally oblivious if you don't understand that. As far as the jedi know, they've won and the sith have been gone for a thousand years, so they wouldn't even consider they've survived all along. That's why their first guess is that this is all the work of a rogue jedi. And think about it, if you heard somebody was killed yesterday, would you suspect Jack the Ripper did it?
    Even if Sol did manage to inform other jedi about it, their response would be the same as in Episode 1: "you're crazy, the sith are extinct dumbass!"
    3. Floating: Seriously? Who gives a shit?
    4. Jacki's fight: "Why would this padawan be more challenging to a sith than a jedi master?" Same reason why Obi-Wan, a padawan, could beat Maul but not Qui-Gon, a jedi master: the plot demanded it.

    • @aliciouskross
      @aliciouskross 3 месяца назад +1

      All excellent points. I'd add to #4 that Jacki was clearly angry (tapping into the dark side of the force) and thats when we started seeing her use Form IV in her battle against him which most certainly caught him off guard and made for a great scene.

    Dude I respect your opinion but that TPM saber fight analysis is BS. It has the same issues. If you watch closely you see Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon swinging purposely at Maul’s saber rather than the obvious opening. You let it go to enjoy the scene.
    I still don’t see a retcon here as the Jedi as a whole don’t know about this character. Only Sol does. It depends on how this plays out on whether it’s canon breaking.
    If theory sabers puts out a Xeno Vader ANH at a good price, I’m in.

    • @arcc4
      @arcc4 3 месяца назад +8

      If the show hadn't taken 4 brain rotting episodes to get to this kind of fight scene people wouldn't be looking to nitpick everything. The trick movies/shows have to pull off especially in the sci-fi genre is to not break the audience's immersion by interrupting the suspension of disbelief. For example, the the whole fire in space thing doesn't bother the audience because we can rationalize explosions and venting gas from damage when the shot is brief and doesn't dwell on it. However, when it is a long drawn out close up pan of flames you'd expect in a campfire while the scene is suppose to be in the vacuum of space the immersion is broken. When a show does this again and again with visuals, plot, dialogue, etc... the audience is no long ever immersed and that's when everyone starts looking for the inconsistency.
      Also, the show is digging a deeper whole with canon rather than finding a believable solution. Yes, the Jedi Order is in the dark about the character and events taking place at this point, but they do know a force user trained in Jedi arts is out to kill Kelnacca and that they sent a rather large Jedi group to find him. The hoops the plot is going to have to jump through to make this consistent with TPM is seemingly going to be absurd. That's just assuming a major retcon isn't happening.

You couldn’t see it because the camera was to busy zooming on their nose hairs. In the prequels the duels are magnificent and grand, not just because of the choreography, but because of the shots. They’re all this wide impressive shots of an epic duel. That’s what makes them great. We see it.

      Aiming for the blade is something you see in all movies when both have the same weapon because going for an opening. Unless it’s a clear opening is a huge risk. Depending on the opponents reaction time, if you go for an opening and you don’t hit a vital point(or miss). You’re left wide open to be killed even if your sword or weapon is in them. It’s actually the proper way to fight/wear them down to get that guaranteed opening. Constantly going for the body is for entertainment purposes. Just like guns being shot sideways.

    Lol!! I swear sometimes i question if Theory and i are even watching the same show..man I used to love his channel so much and dont get me wrong i have no problem with anyone disliking this show BUT i do get put off by SW channels that jump to conclusions and lean so hard on their biased that you can hear the distain of eadh and every word, sentence and critique.
    SOL IS GONNA DIE. It's obvious. Or he'll go dark.. I don't see the council finding out about any of this. Cuz duh! If im wrong im wrong we'll see. Great show so far! Way better than Fett and and Obi so far.

    Your still watching? I thought you said SW was dead? Gotta pay the bills i suppose.
    The Jedi in the acolyte have never fought a Sith before, plus Yord even says that he has never fought anyone like it before. I thought you were an SW expert?

    Mundi who was famously wrong.
    He says: Jedi like you might call me a Sith...
    He never says that he's actually a Sith. He is poking fun at the fact that Jedi label everything that's different from them as Sith. Maybe actually activate your brain.

    I mean the fight was cool and the sith is cool but so many questions. he said hes a sith they said their wasnt a sith in 1000 years so that was a lie also he cant be the only sith. Plagus and tenobris are around. Where is yoda? He enever talked about this sith.

    • @simpletown323
      @simpletown323 3 месяца назад +3

      Tenebrous isn't canon and doesn't matter. There are only like 3 witnesses alive who know he is sith and that DOES NOT include Ki Adi Mundi so none of your complaints are valid criticisms.

      @@moneyandbonesit doesn't matter what he is genius... What matters is what the jedi think. Wether he is a sith or not is completely irrelevant. We know for a fact that sith existed in this time period as they never stopped existing. The problem is that the jedi thought there were no sith anymore for 1000 years... So they need to not retcon that part and make Sol either understand that Qimir isn't a sith somehow... Or Sol dies.

      He didn't outright say he's a Sith just that's what Jedi would call him. He's more than likely the original knight of Ren because I could have sworn Kylo Ren's theme played there at the end.

    The lightsaber combat was pretty badass, but the story is still absolute shit. There's no way in hell Yoda wouldn't have immediately sensed a force user powerful enough to kill multiple jedi exerting their power like that. Between that, the twins apparently being conceived by the force, the obvious Sith, and Ki Adi Mundi magically existing this show has broken canon AT LEAST four times now. Disney needs to pull their head out of their ass and get writers that respect the canon when telling new stories like this.
    My guess is that this was all a farce and Mae is still loyal to her master and is going to kill Sol without a weapon to complete her training, which is absolutely ridiculous because Sol is a MASTER JEDI and should be able to recognize his own damn padawan, twin or not. Does Mae have Palpatine level powers of deception and concealment now? Give me a break.
