    • @zmums

  • @useport80

    how did you adjust your cockpit for the mullet? did you find you had to get a longer stem and put more weight on the front due to the mullet naturally positioning you more rearward?

    • @zmums
      @zmums 3 года назад

      I like to ride forward anyway. It came with a 50mm stem which has worked great for me. I did put a 40mm rise bar on, but that’s a personal preference. I don’t think either of those hs anything to do with the mullet though, mostly it’s the fact that the chainstay is so short compared to the long front end. It really makes you get over the front to keep front end grip. Works for me, but it’s not a super fast bike b/c of that imbalance.

    I am looking into this bike and the enduro and the price difference is a lot. I have not had a bike like this. Should I go all the way to enduro comp or is this bike more fun? Looks like the enduro is heavy, and a pain to pedal up.

  • @TheHottuna66
    @TheHottuna66 3 года назад +2

    What do you think about the low BB? I find it’s great as far as making you feel like you are part of the bike but the pedal strikes are next level. Especially when climbing I find I’m almost scared to commit on certain parts of a climb when it can get technical because I know I’m going to have a pedal strike. I’m getting better at timing it, but I find it annoying that I have to be that careful instead of focusing on what I’m trying to ride over. Aside from that I love everything else about the bike.

    • @zmums
      @zmums 3 года назад +4

      It’s a trade off, the cornering is amazing. Maybe try a shorter crank, or run it in high mode to raise the bb. I do get pedal strikes from time to time as well, but I like the cornering enough that I just don’t care that much.

    • @TheHottuna66
      @TheHottuna66 3 года назад +2

      @@zmums i actually haven’t tried it in the low mode yet, do you find it performs even better in low? Aside from the pedal strikes I love this bike. Maybe I’ll try to find a shorter crank. Thanks!

    • @zmums
      @zmums 3 года назад +1

      @@TheHottuna66 It corners even better, but more pedal strikes for sure. Could just give a 165mm a try. It's a trade off tho for sure. I pretty much always value dh performance over all else. So I'm fine with some pedal strikes if I can blow out some berms:)

  • @koppins851
    @koppins851 3 года назад +1

    great review and a guy that rips! seems like you don't need a dh bike if you got the status. I stand between a DH bike or the status for bike parks. do you suggest the status could be enough bike?

    • @FifeFlow
      @FifeFlow  3 года назад

      That's a great question. It is a slack as a dh bike so handles steeps and high speed really well. As for the travel, that's what may limit you by tiring you out a little depending on what kind of parks and speeds you're going for. I know of a few folks that put a 180 dual crown fork on the front and long shocked the rear for 175ish travel and that's a park monster without changing geo much (axle to crown on dual crowns is smaller). That said, if you're park isn't crazy rough, or you're not racing downhill, it would be perfect I think!

    • @zmums
      @zmums 2 года назад

      I think it can be. This bike now has a 200mm 27.5 boxxer and I long shocked it it 230x65 and put some better brakes on but it can totally deal with bike parks stock. I’ve shuttled and ridden park with mine quite a bit in the stock setting and it’s great.

    Wondering about sizing? I’m 5’10, 31” inseam, thinking S3 in this model given fairly long reach? (Specialized site suggests S4 in Stumpy, but doesnt seem to calculate for a Status)

    • @brodyvanunen
      @brodyvanunen 2 года назад

      I’ve just started making videos, and am riding the S3 sized status. I absolutely love how it feels, and it never feels like to much bike for me (also 5.9-5.10). I honestly wouldn’t suggest moving up to a S4 unless your trying to race the bike and be super competitive which is really not what it’s for anyways. Highly recommend the S3 unless your over 6 feet

      Hey Brian sorry for the late reply. I have a 2.6 schwalbe magic mary super trail up front, and a 2.4 schwalbe big betty super gravity out back. Both soft compound (orange).
