Hi Jay, I wanted to add that the diagnosis IS better than wondering “what’s wrong with me?”
I was referred to an MDS that also happened to be a neurologist. Ohhh yeah! One and done…anyway, as we navigate this new segment of life, I can look back and say for sure “ yep, that was Parkinson’s !!! I also would recommend looking at the diet as there are definite ways to help out the inflammation that can contribute to the effects of PD. I have entered the world of “no gluten”. It sucks not only not being able to do the things we used to, but to eat the way we used to as well. There may be a chicken and egg thing going on here… anyone in Texas can contact me through you if they would like a recommendation to a great functional medicine MD. I highly recommend this as a a way to combat some of the effects of this disease. Be nice to Naomi and we’ll talk at you later…

I am 68, diagnosed at 67, symptoms since 63-64 YO, now that I think about it. I am gonna blame no one, or no thing. I used to be called a force of nature, boundless energy, etc. Now, not so much. Now my loving and lovely bride is my “force of nature”… I don’t know how she does it, or ever did it. Our joke before the PD when we would forget something like where the car keys were, was “don’t tell the kids, they will come take our keys away”…now, it’s no joke…I could go on, but gotta get going, but first where are those car keys???

I will remember the strangest minute detail of a movie or lyrics to a song from 30 years ago. Then I blank on something simple like my neighbor’s kids names. Go figure!

Hey JayMac. Absolutely think about my memory daily wonder of its old age or Parkinson’s. Quick example. Went out to my car to pick up some notes I had. Saw a hat I needed for golf. Grabbed the hat and forgot the notes. Stuff like this is happening more often. That’s just one small example.

I just chalk it up to normal aging. If not, what can you really do?

I Passed my cognitive test last week. Having brain fog today. Can’t focus. I used to read-a lot! I can’t remember the last book I actually finished. That could be a new goal. Short book. Maybe.

Several years ago, I couldn’t sleep the night before my annual physical, and I did poorly on the test. The nurse practitioner told me so. There are different types of cognitive assessments. Some are more in depth than others. By the way, I changed doctors.

Exhaustion will fry your memory. I think it’s probably that and stress.

I think my progression is moving along slowly. I do feel like I should move to part time work...only so I could be more consistent with working out. I feel like with work, a teenager, and puppy at home...my time is so crunched after work and I find most days I just don't have the motivation to workout. 😞

Do it! At this point, exercise is the most important thing you can be doing! But you’re smart and already know that.😁

I haven't the slightest idea what is happening to my body. Tremors, dizziness, and other symptoms classically associated with Parkinson's are my constant companions-I don't leave home without them! I see another neuro in a month and am looking forward to a diagnosis.

    • @robertstilson2901

      NO SUCH LUCK:
Today, I received the neuro's diagnosis of my various, and troubling, neurological expressions. To no avail, I have struggled to avoid being diagnosed with Parkinson's.
The rate at which Parkinson's various expressions have thrust themselves into my world is of concern, and has deceptively led me to believe they are being caused by some other problem. No such luck.
So now I have to move forward in pursuit of circumstances that will ameliorate the disease's expressions. I will pray for the wisdom and the courage to determinately face this beast and all of its fury with grace and gratitude for the blessing of being awkwardly vertical rather than permanently horizontal.

I swear my eyes feel like they cross when my brain shortcuts 😅. As far as age or PD, who knows. The long I stay alive the longer I have PD. Both are progressive 🤷‍♀️

Hey Jeremy great video “Parkinson’s or old age”? Well in my case, I am going to blame Parkinson’s disease for most all of my symptoms that could be either old age or Parkinson’s. I was into my 70s before I started slowing down (I am very lucky). I think it’s the Parkinson’s that has made me feel very old.

Hi Jeremy, was good to see your video,, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's when I was 46, now just over 50, it was nov 2019 when I went to the neurologist, noticed first symptoms in 2016, started with weakness in the fingers of my left hand, which really freaked me out, symptoms gradually got worse, went to the doctor's but they couldn't figure it out, by 2017 other people and my work colleagues started to notice that I was not moving well, 2019 was a bad year before I got diagnosed, with overwhelming feelings of anxiety and panic attacks, doctor started me on antidepressants but obviously didn't work, couldn't get to work etc , then came the diagnosis, I work with physics i am an occupational therapist so I kind of diagnosed myself before I got to the neurologist.

As a matter of fact, I’ve had some knee pain lately. It’s probably an inflamed or torn something or other. But is that normal aging or somehow caused by Parkinson’s? Do I start with the MDS or orthopedist? So go the mental gymnastics…

I think my dyskinesia causes a lot of pain from overuse of certain muscles. Thx, Ken!

Old age or Parkinson's is a good game I've played since the beginning of my diagnosis. Harder to tell when you're 64. I've read that if your main symptom is hand tremors you're less likely to have cognitive problems which leads me to something I've wondered about. Trying not to be political here I'm just making an observation. I've noticed the blank face, the falls, the freezing in place the situational confusion in Joe Biden. Old age or Parkinson's? He is 81. Either way it isn't good. I have a friend who is 102. Mind sharp as a tack. Frail but lives on her own. Still drives, wish she wouldn't. Life is such a crap shoot.

      @JeremyMcdonald  21 день назад

I have spoken with several people in the Parkinson’s community who agree with you about Biden, so you are not alone in your observation. I have thought the same thing for a couple of years now. Thx for commenting, Dakota Mouse!

Good video Jeremy. Let’s call PD accelerated aging. The rollercoaster of gravity against the slope. Yes, there is cognitive decline but the Bradykinesia pops in every moment of the day. Overall the PD is guilty for most of the crimes. I have a friend with MS that says after surviving for thirty years his old age is now finally catching up. We will survive.
