Not that we're tired of Jordan's house or anything, but it is great to see some different unique builds from time to time. Stirs up a lot of creativity. 🙂
This type of content had me watching long before the dream house build. As much as we all love seeing the house build, a change up was a welcome surprise too.
Ok so I was taught that you always hold a Brad/finish nailer perpendicular to the edge of the board you are nailing into, as the brads will bend left or right but not forwards or backwards. Then you don’t have to worry about blowouts. Anyone else?
In the movies they call those “shiners”! I worked on a few movies and shiners are a no no! And youre right about holding the gun perpendicular! Same goes for staple guns and framing nailers! Sometimes though it just doesnt matter how you hold it and it goes where it wants!
Hey, Team Stud Pack. I noticed in this video that Paul still doesn't have a lumber rack for his truck. I have a rack to spare. I'd be glad to bring it to you when I come to Texas in early 2024. I don't have a fixed date to make the trip, but if you want it let me know an early Spring date range that might work for you and let's see if we can connect. Glad to help with the project in any way I can help. My dad was a general contractor/ jack of all trades too and I'm really enjoying the father and sons programming. You all seem to have a great family and very supportive siblings and spouses. Great to see a hard working American family, raising kids to prosper in a modern world. Paul, my dad wouldn't have understood this RUclips channel as a vocation either. Good for you to go with your kids into the unknown and share your life and work experiences with them.
Love the irony of putting Sherwin Williams paint in a PPG bucket @19:20 - I lived with my cousin for a year and he worked for PPG. When I painted my room, I bought the paint from Sherwin Williams. He gave me some trouble for that! LOL
Wow, great job! That is a LOT of work. It sounds like you were trying to help out the church. Using the electrical tape on the window edges is pure genius. Your concern for your clients is just exceptional, measured by every metric. I wish you the most amazing success with your projects and, more importantly, with your lives. May you prosper mightily in everything you do.
The contractor that recently installed my new windows asked me what color I intended to paint my window trim. When I told him he pulled out a woman's nail polish kit and found a color similar and that is what he used to color the edge of the glass. Didn't realize why he did that till ur video explaining ur tape method. Good tricks of the trade.
The primed finish on your boards is a two pass, buffed gesso primer. Gesso is clay that is mixed in with the primer. It also appears the boards are made with Albasia with is a south American wood product. It is a very stringy wood product that is inexpensive but does not machine well. That's why they have to have such a thick primer coat.
As someone single-handedly building my own home, I know the importance of stepping away from the project and just doing something that makes you feel good!! Great video guys!!
Mike Fairrington rules! Love his work, I knew I recognized that sanding disk. Great video, Stud Pack! Always nice to have a change of pace while you're on a long project like the house.
I used to use a 4' diameter disc sander at my family's factory. With a brand new disc of sandpaper, you could destroy a 2x4 in a few seconds. Those sanders are vicious, keep your fingers away and also install a guard, because if they catch your wood, it will fly up very quickly. That said, they are extraordinarily useful.
Fantastic job on the windows and the frames! They look spectacular. The tape is a great trick to hide the edge. I'm stealing that one... The only thing I would have done different would be to add the outside of the casing during initial assembly, just to speed installation, but I get why you didn't do that for transport purposes.
Really cool to see a switch up from the house/garage build. Awesome to see you all out helping some people too. Thanks for taking the extra time to show us this! I hope y'all are doing good for the holidays!!!
I made one of those several years ago. I love it! I set the blade at an angle and run my planer blades through it on a clamp block with multiple grits to take out nicks and make them perfectly straight and sharp(I do a little super fine work before installing them)
Love how you still have time/make time for the community. I love the dream garage build but the break away to your previous style videos was great! I have to get me the sanding disc.. never seen that before!! Merry Christmas Stud Pack team
I wish I had the brain power to remember all of the excellent tips that Paul has shared on the SP channel. He is a stud builder/maker. I love the channel guys!
My dad was a contractor for his hole life and never advertised but the freebies he’d do for different organizations made him more valuable business than ever.
Thie old Shopsmith tablesaws had a 'conical sander' that worked in the same way as this sander. I'm glad to see the idea implemented on modern machines that contractors can have on the jobsite.
IMO you should only use self taping screws for metal studs 18 guage and down,. 20 and 25 guage metal studs work the best with fine tread sheetrock screws. For refernce only. I have many years doing metal framing , sheetrock and finish work for commercial application. And your absolutely right that the trim head scre would of been best. Great job !!! Looked great
I have had Mike Farrington's dt disc for a while now. I setup a second saw in my shop dedicated to it. My two table saws are side by side and share the same rail and fence. I cut to the left of the fence and "glue line rip" with the taper disc on the right. It works out great. I can't tell you how much it improved my panel glue up results. Final dimension on the table saw and "glue line ripping" on the taper disk are my workflow with the disc. I also do a lot of small parts work and have built a jig to use it to joint and thickness small parts. It's just a modified mortise and tenon jig, but it works a treat to replace my shooting board and hand plane for more than a few jobs.
Contributing to the community. Great I love it. In the memory of: do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Merry Christmas from Bavaria
I watch every single video because I love what a Godly man Paul is. My second favorite part are all the funny outtakes you film of him “coping” or saying pain/pane. I love renovation and furniture making but y’all’s personalities are why I love forward to your videos every week. Never stop doing things the way you’re doing them.
That sanding disk has sped my sanding days up astronomically. Glue up with face frames and doors without a wide belt sander has become more accurate and less head ache's. Glad to see another way I can use it when my days of trim carpentry come back.
Another great video! It is a good thing to temporarily step away from a project and then come back with a fresh mental attitude. It is always great to watch you guys do anything. Painter here with over 37 years of experience and that tape trick on the glass was genius. Keep up the good work and Stud Pack nation we’ll continue to watch and support you guys. 👍🏼
These guys @Studpack are just great people. They’re helping out their friends with their project all while in the middle of their own project at the Studpack Dream house.
The filler is shellac. It's not what's making your blade dull- that is the sap and tar from the pine gumming up the blade. You can use a blade cleaner to make that thing cut like new
I have a similar tapered sanding disk. As a hobby woodworker there's no need for a jointer, much safer too! Also, you need to use RockHard water-based putty. Comes in a powder and doest shrink. Super easy to sand too!
Hands down, this is the best RUclips channel. Stud pack never disappoints. I’m usually skipping to get to the good part on other channels, I never have to do that on this one!
I think seeing you do a lot of stuff for the first time, it was easy to forget how dang good y'all are at finishes. Can't wait till the drywall's up and y'all can really shine.
The paint they use for finger jointed pine is what they call a clay coat, pretty much paint and clay mixture that fills all the improfections and gives you a uniform finish! That clay coat can vary from a ¹/¹⁶ to ³/¹⁶ of an inch.
Great work again guys, love the channel, and content you put out. Really surprised you guys haven't been offered a TV slot somewhere! Much, much better than a majority of stuff out there👍
@20:33 what is it about peeling something off that is so soothing. I even like peeling off dried wood glue from my finger tips. And Love Mike Farrington!!! Wonder if he sent a song choice to listen to while sanding! :)
As someone who's been following along the dream build, but also has a 2yr old daughter that LOVES these kinda play places, this is my ideal side content.
Be kind and have fun. My life’s journey has taught me that these are what really matter. You guys just live this in ways I couldn’t describe. Respect! Huge respect. C
Great job, I like the sanding disk and all the tips and tricks you did to pull off a wonderful job! And I made sure that the Like button was properly smashed for you guys.
Not that we're tired of Jordan's house or anything, but it is great to see some different unique builds from time to time. Stirs up a lot of creativity. 🙂
Nah I miss the house build for sure lol
Sponsors out there, send this man a truck rack system!!
This type of content had me watching long before the dream house build. As much as we all love seeing the house build, a change up was a welcome surprise too.
Great to see some random jobs mixed in too. I love it when it’s Stud Pack episode day.
My favourite time of the week!
Its like Saturday Morning Cartoons from when I was a kid 😊
Love my Saturday morning Studpack!!
Ok so I was taught that you always hold a Brad/finish nailer perpendicular to the edge of the board you are nailing into, as the brads will bend left or right but not forwards or backwards. Then you don’t have to worry about blowouts. Anyone else?

And don't keep your hand anywhere near that blowout area. They hurt going through your finger nail.
yep you are 100% correct. Very little chance for a blowout when turned the correct direction.
The Paul 'tricks' keep on rolling. My dad was the 'trick' master....this brings back great memories. Always great to see you guys work.
Wide electrical tape as painter's tape, and the tapered sanding disk, were awesome, unexpected tips!

So true! I appreciate your commitment to your community and figured faith was the real reason for your channels success!

Here in Hawaii Albizia is an invasive tree that likes to fall over in storms. But I guess it has its place in the woodworking world.
Hate that stuff. That primer also will chip out sometimes when you’re nailing it. Any time I need fjp it’s Windsor one
Super cool that you’re doing work for the local church. God bless!!! 🙏
As someone single-handedly building my own home, I know the importance of stepping away from the project and just doing something that makes you feel good!! Great video guys!!
Good for you Jessica! My grandmother built her own home with a lot of help no doubt! Its mostly all rock and is still occupied today after 100 yrs!
Jordan. Never mock your dad especially on a video. You are clueless what a gem he is. This channel is nothing without him. ( & mom)
Mike Fairrington rules! Love his work, I knew I recognized that sanding disk. Great video, Stud Pack! Always nice to have a change of pace while you're on a long project like the house.
Mike Farrington is a self important pompous JO
I agree. Just saw the thumbnail and was like how cool for them to use that.
I used to use a 4' diameter disc sander at my family's factory. With a brand new disc of sandpaper, you could destroy a 2x4 in a few seconds. Words to the wise!
Electric tape trick was absolutely priceless. Thank you for that one!
The little details are the ones i like to see, having passion for what you do and doing it with pride. Great job
That is a great idea. Jordan the gray in your hair looks really good on you man!
“DAAAAAAD!!! Stud Pack is on!!!!”
Mad shoutout to Mike Farrington!! Love it when my favorite channels intertwine!!
You can write that expense off as charity . Jus make sure you save thee receipts for your CPA and include the labor. We do it all the time

You shouldn't use an impact for pocket screws. Use a normal drill and dial down the clutch to ensure perfect torque to avoid over tightening.
It is a nice break and change of pace from the Stud Pack Dream House build.
My wife wishes my shop was only $10k!! Great video guys. I love how you always find a way.
My wife has no idea what my shop cost.
I would say give them a labor rate, but waive it as a donation since it’s a church. Then it may be deductible on taxes end of year.
Love how you still have time/make time for the community. I love the dream garage build but the break away to your previous style videos was great!
I have to get me the sanding disc.. never seen that before!!
Merry Christmas Stud Pack team

My dad was a contractor for his hole life and never advertised but the freebies he’d do for different organizations made him more valuable business than ever.
I've had a 9" version of this for my DeWalt radial arm saw for 30 years. They are awesome.
Thie old Shopsmith tablesaws had a 'conical sander' that worked in the same way as this sander. I'm glad to see the idea implemented on modern machines that contractors can have on the jobsite.
Absolutely missed the upload guys 👌

Man i love Mike's channel. I'd recognize thatdisc anywhere. Love his great sense of humor.

I love renovation and furniture making but y’all’s personalities are why I love forward to your videos every week. Never stop doing things the way you’re doing them.
What does that mean, a "godly" man?
Nice change of pace. Love this channel
Merry Christmas! You guys are awesome!
That sanding disk has sped my sanding days up astronomically. Glue up with face frames and doors without a wide belt sander has become more accurate and less head ache's. Glad to see another way I can use it when my days of trim carpentry come back.
Rad needs a raise
Love that I can come back and rewatch these and learn so much more
Great job helping a community is a blessing for you an them !

Really nice to see the change of pace from the house build, looks fantastic and love the new sanding disc and other window frame tips!
Awesome Job Guys!
Absolutely love Mike Farrington channel and it's great that you started to use his disk.
You guys are watching Mike Farrington - He’s my hero. Love that sanding disc too - I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it is a kick ass tool.
I love watching you guys building the house and I hope y'all have a great Christmas and a happy New year
Always a blessing to bless others. Great job that looks fantastic!
Hmm someone needs a lumber rack for their Stud Pack truck?? Let's see what the new year brings?? Another great job by the Stud Pack crew. 5 Stars!
Great looking windows and great hints and tips!
These guys @Studpack are just great people. They’re helping out their friends with their project all while in the middle of their own project at the Studpack Dream house.
Nice tricks! Thanks SP
Merry Christmas!!!
Well done Paul. Hope you and the kids have a good Christmas and new year.
The filler is shellac. It's not what's making your blade dull- that is the sap and tar from the pine gumming up the blade. You can use a blade cleaner to make that thing cut like new
Y’all are awesome!
HF sells an aluminum pocket hole tool similar to your old Kreg. It’s not expensive and works great.
This was a pleasant surprise to watch and glad to see you already fitting in in your new community
NICE WINDOWS
I learn something new today! Thanks Stud Pack!
Really sharp! Love the black edge detail.
Good for you! Giving back.
I have a similar tapered sanding disk. As a hobby woodworker there's no need for a jointer, much safer too!
Also, you need to use RockHard water-based putty. Comes in a powder and doest shrink. Super easy to sand too!
Enjoy anything you guys do always great to watch
Yeah, that game changing table saw attachment…I bought one from Sears(craftsman) over 45 years ago…
Always happy to see that smiling face Paul! 👋
Always happy to see a notification for a new Stud Pack video.
Hands down, this is the best RUclips channel. Stud pack never disappoints. I’m usually skipping to get to the good part on other channels, I never have to do that on this one!

Smashing job there, love that laser too
Great job as always guys!
Congratulations on a great project. Community service is always satisfing.
Dude. I just got a ladder rack for my truck and it only cost me $280 at Truck Toyz installed. It has been a huge upgrade for my truck.
I love the black tape idea that’s great👌
I love this style of video with Paul's voiceover. This is sick!!
Great work again guys, love the channel, and content you put out.
Really surprised you guys haven't been offered a TV slot somewhere! Much, much better than a majority of stuff out there👍
Great so see some of the things that made me watch to begin with
@20:33 what is it about peeling something off that is so soothing. I even like peeling off dried wood glue from my finger tips. And Love Mike Farrington!!! Wonder if he sent a song choice to listen to while sanding! :)
You guys really are amazing ❤ I love how you give back to your community the way you do. It is super inspiring to see it keep up the good work guys
As someone who's been following along the dream build, but also has a 2yr old daughter that LOVES these kinda play places, this is my ideal side content.
Came for a Table Saw review and got a whole step by step on window installation fundamentals.
Very impressive job!
Great video glad see a new topic.
Be kind and have fun. My life’s journey has taught me that these are what really matter.
You guys just live this in ways I couldn’t describe. Respect! Huge respect. C
To me, variety in content is a big key to success in the RUclips thing. Good video.
Great job, I like the sanding disk and all the tips and tricks you did to pull off a wonderful job! And I made sure that the Like button was properly smashed for you guys.
That black tape is a cool idea. Thank You!
I enjoyed the different video. Love the work at the stud pack house obv but this was also refreshing and nice.
The attention is in the details. Great tool.
That double camera perspective at the end was cool! Nice idea 😁 and always love the content!!
That tapered sanding disc is wild. I might need me one of those. Those windows look PERFECT!
Yes prime for trim does have gypsum in the primmer to fill in the wood. Thats why its so smooth.
Good stuff, as always!
