A couple of suggestions (for what it's worth) - another commenter suggested putting clothes out so people can see and are drawn in by the designs - this is huge! Your displays were like a closet and when people are casually browsing, they aren't going to stop and sift through in hopes to find something. You can draw them in with a display with your designs on them. Also, wearing your products at your vending events is a huge plus. HTH.
I definitely am planning on getting more hanging mannequins. At this event it is very cramped so it would have been difficult in my opinion to do much more than I was doing. It is a good idea to wear my own products and I do wear them sometimes but I also don't have a huge stock of them so the next time I have more made I will be sure to include an extra for myself!
@@googoogoods I'm actually thinking that some sort of display panel with just the designs you have available would be great - that way all of your designs could attract, not just the couple you have on mannequins or just when mannequins are available. Love your videos - thanks for sharing them :)
@@ChristinaEthridge Agree with this 100%! Kinda like at the fair (well, at least like 10 years ago lol) they would have all the tshirt designs on a big board. If you could do that and then figure out a way to mount it so it can be displayed high enough for people walking by, that would be huge!
Also a REALLY cute thing I've seen convention vendors do, is put your socials and some stickers on your mirror. Tell them if they follow you or take a selfie in your mirror and tag you on your social, they get a discount!
just an observation: Your shirts and all are hanging and people can't see the design on them. You need to put some so the designs shows so people can see when they walk by. People don't want to have to go into the area and go through the rack and look one by one.
I do have a mannequin that shows one of the shirts and I do plan on getting some to hang when I have in my tent. Thankfully the mannequin does draw people in!
Someone else commented about displaying the shirt designs somewhere and I agree. If not in a lookbook like flip through binder, maybe in frames you can hang, or little things above the racks. The racks of sweatshirts wouldn't draw me in but the designs would!
I definitely think for events with the tent the hanging mannequins are a good idea so I'm looking into getting some of those for sure! For events like this one it is a little tricker so I did like the idea of the frames or pictures!!
The booth prices are insane. My friend and i are just getting started with markets and could never afford that. Im a couple hrs from jacksonville so thats great info for us. Thanks!!
Yes they are super high!! I'm doing Markets for Makers again in June and they lowered it to $500 which is still super high but definitely a lot better than $750!! I'm so glad I could be helpful!!!
Thank you, Bailey, I absolutely love watching your vendor videos. It gives me the inspiration to continue my small business in time I have discouragement.
The time of year is also a factor, the fall/Christmas season is historically a better sales season. Markets in the earlier months of the year are lower as customers are not spending money for gifts. I would not compare last years market in this location since you did it in it the fall to this market.
My friend sells crystals (actually I believe that was her table in front of you off to the side) at all the Market for Makers locations and always does well. She has repeat customers who already know her at these events. She travels by plane too and has learned how to get her vending supplies from state to state. Vending bigger markets isn't for everyone and takes a lot of time. It's also a learning process.
I did see the crystal table! A subscriber/friend Abigail and her family that came to visit with me said they like to visit with her too so I'm glad she also has some good regulars! Definitely bigger markets aren't for everyone, I'm glad that I've been able to learn and evolve and hopefully my journey helps other people learn and evolve too!
Oh by the way I agree with a couple of the comments below about hanging some shirts facing out so people can see the designs. I have a clothing rack and did alot of people watching during my last 4 markets last year and I realized that no matter how cute your designs are or signs telling people what you sell, people are lazy or timid when it comes to actually looking thru shirts on a clothing rack. The one that everyone mentioned or looked at was the one that I hung on the end of the rack facing out to the public. I realized pretty quickly that if I display it, people see it and buy it, but they just dont want to look thru a clothing rack. I know its hard at this type of sale when you dont have a tent to hang things on but maybe experiement with how you can get more of your shirts visible without people having to put any effort into seeing them. They are way to cute to not be seen... and as some others mentioned, definately wear some of your shirts to events, people see it on you and ask if you sell that design. Heck wear a hat! And drink out of a tumbler. Be the model for your business... free advertising!!
I like the idea other people have had about displaying photos of me in the clothes/styled! I'm going to work on that idea I think and see how that goes! I also will hang them in my tent for sure I want to get the hanging mannequins but that may be in April's budget lol. I do need to wear some stuff I'll definitely work on that for the next one!
PRO TIP: Your stuff is super cute. At this type of sale where there are so many vendors, you have SECONDS to grab the interest of a new customer as they stroll by. Here are a few tips I have learned. 1. PVC pipe is the easiest way to build all kinds of stuff for your booth. It’s relatively inexpensive, light and doesn’t take up a lot of space in your vehicle. You could build a tall frame that goes against that wall and use rope and some pins to hang a sample of as many different prints as you can. This will allow people to quickly see your merchandise as they walk by. Especially the stuff with quotes on it. You could also bring more product if you used PVC to create one double row rather than two single row fixtures and will allow you more space in your booth. Always wear your merchandise! Style a different look each day to show customers how easy and fun it is to incorporate pops of color into their everyday look.
Bailey, I think your country products, the blue shirt and the boots diaper bag would do well in country setings. ❤ I also agree with others about somehow displaying the shirts maybe blow up pictures of you wearing them AND styling them.
I do need to find some more events that are a little more country. When I do Whimsy markets that's a little more out there! I like that idea about blowing up pictures, I'll have to get with my photographer friend Gabriella and get some better casual shots of me in the products and then I can blow them up. Thanks for the tip!!
@@googoogoods I would just photograph the designs. I mean, it'll be great to have some photos of you in them too but giving people the opportunity to see all the designs available in one area would be really beneficial imo.
Just a thought, maybe offer some lower dollar items. A range of items may entice more people to come in your booth or smaller items that will attract kids to come in your booth. Maybe stickers or even some embroidered decals that can be ironed on by the customer.
Yes definitely, I've been looking into sublimating some keychains. I think that's what I'm going to work on next week. I can also do patches but those are a little more time intensive. I have the supplies for them but need to remember where I put them lol!

A lot of suggestions about properly showing merchandise. The thing is, theres only so much space and also people do get choice paralysis when presented with too many options. It's fine showcasing some of your bestsellers, the ones that really represent your work and hook people in to explore more. I think you did a great job 👍

Maybe try this market one more time with some of the suggestions here? You have really cute stuff .... just need to showcase it more. 🩷

If you’re ever up this way near Saint Simons Island GA. We have something that goes on every weekend in the spring and summer called Crafts in the Village. Might be of something of interest to look into .
I’ve gotten an advertisement for this market before. Once I saw that they charge customers to come in, I was NOT interested. Never in my life have I paid to shop somewhere. Have you? By the way, I took a look at your website. I love the Manatee Fan Club pullover. I hope you re-stock it! ❤
I do think the cover charge is interesting but I will say it definitely brings in serious shoppers lol. I'm so glad you like the Manatee Fan Club pullover I think it's really cute! I am hoping to restock the pullovers in the fall, it's still pretty hot here so they don't do as well right now but I'm hoping to have them for when it cools down!
Your booth did look good with the graffiti on the wall. Your curls looked good too! Did you take the same dollar amount of inventory as last time? That fee is high even for a 2 day market. I wonder how much advertising they did or email marketing. The fee for people to come in and shop is a problem for me. By the way i have the same pink toolbox!
Thank you so much!! This time I took less inventory, last time I had a uhaul trailer. Since I was doing it alone this time I just brought my car so I didn't have room for as much stuff. It is a really high fee, definitely a draw back! They do a ton of marketing that's how I found them I get ads from them almost daily lol. I love my toolbox!! It's so cute but it makes me feel like a good adult and vendor lol

Great Vlog.❤❤ The last year market vlog was actuelly my first video of you. So it's great to see all your progress. I loved the setup, you have so many wonderful colors. I like it more, when you have your check-out in the back. For me it is more welcoming, can't really explain why. Maybe, because in Germany we have normally tables in the front and the vendor is in the back - so maybe this is more usual for me. Hope your next market works better for you ❤
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found me :) I definitely prefer having the checkout in the back too, at this one I was a little cramped since I was trying to bring so much stuff and my space was smaller so I was technically a little out of my booth at the front there lol. Thank you so much for all the kind words and support :)
Just a thought would it not be cheaper to rent space either of your own or in someone’s shop and sell you goods, rather than keep travelling all over and paying market rent etc. Also maybe photos in frames of your jumper designs as people carnt see them properly on your racks. The monogram mompreneur did a video several months ago about how they set up their booth for a pop up, it may give you an idea.
I am not sure about that, I've done some searching about renting space but haven't found anything. Would you happen to know of anything in Orlando that's available lol? I am looking into renting a space with a collective in St.Pete but am always hoping to find somewhere closer! I also do markets not just for doing them but to showcase to other people who may want to do markets near me and want to see what it's like so there are other benefits of them too for sure! I definitely think the photos are a great idea, I saw someone else commented something like that too I love that idea! I will have to watch her video about that I think she's great too!
I'm going to do my first craft/festival this year in September. May I ask what was your lowest and highest priced items. I make hand carvings rock& wood, metal embossing, wood burnings , wire art I'm just trying to get an idea for pricing. The last time I did craft /festival was back in the early 90's and I'm sure things have changed
Hey there! For most of my events my lowest priced item is usually my hats which are $20, I've started adding keychains and those start at $10 which will be my newest low price item. My highest priced items are my pullovers which are $45! Your products sound much more labor intensive than most of mine so I would price yours higher than that but if you could make a few small things that could be a lower price point that would help, but obviously you know the effort you put into your pieces so the right buyer will know your worth!
Thank you so much I truly appreciate it!! I get all of my music for my newer videos from Epidemic Sounds! It's this song you can find on there: www.epidemicsound.com/track/2uTrozAnR3/
Hey Bailey! I'm sorry you didn't hit your goal, but I still think it was a success. People were able to make purchases they get to enjoy, you got your brand out there, plus youtube content! You should be proud of what you accomplished 🥳!! But I know from a business standpoint that it needs to make sense across the board! Also, my fear of bridges was cured when Joe and I walked over one in Jax years ago. It was one of the scariest things ever, but I did it, lol!! At one point, I took off running.. I was done!
I definitely agree! For me especially since I make these videos for you all even if the event isn't a huge financial success it is an opportunity to learn and share for sure! I'm proud of you for doing that I wouldn't want to lol!!
A $60 application fee that doesn’t reduce the booth fee is insane because what is the reason?! Have you thought about making an outfit to wear to markets?
@@MoonOwlDesigns but that seems excessive. I get that application fees can wean out people who are just applying to apply but it should count toward booth fee.
@@NicaMillerAs someone who used to organize craft shows I understand why they charge this fee. When you pay for a vendor space that money goes towards everything involved. From booking the venue, insurance, permits, application fees that may apply to gaining permits and or permission to use certain street areas, security if applicable, paying helpers etc. Maker for Makers book some very large venues that, I'm sure, are super expensive and require a lot of hands to help organize it. So fees aren't always about paying for a space/table but more about paying for the logistics etc that go into it. If these were smaller local events then I'd say that, yes, it is a bit excessive but MFM aren't like that. I live in Orlando and am familiar with all the events this person vends at. Some are shady as hell when it comes to the organizers while others are actually bigger well organized businesses trying their best to have successful events like MFM, which means it's not going to be cheap. Kind of like applying to a big convention. Not every event is going be for everyone. Like myself. MFM are out of my budget but a friend of mine does extremely well every single time; It's in her budget. When the expenses for everything that goes into organizing events goes down then that's when vendor and application fees will go down as well, which I don't see happening any time soon. 🤷♀️
@@NicaMiller I agree with you. It should be around $25. I've started avoiding markets/pop ups like this one she went to. It's super hard to make a return. My first two videos on RUclips were examples of markets like that :( Never again.
@@divinelovebath I’ll check out your videos! But yeah I’m super weary of ones with application fees plus absurd booth fees. I just had one company try to charge $70 for one singular six foot table plus a $10 app fee.
I think the biggest issue with this one is the time of year. I think you did better at the fall one because it was closer to holidays. I agree the price is way to high to set up. thats the main reason I can't set up there, most of my items are $4 so thats alot of stickers and bookmarks to even make my booth money back LOL. you did pretty well and Im happy you at least got your booth money back. That drive would really stink if you came home without at least meeting that small goal. I wish you had of met your overall goal, it stinks when you put so much work into it. Honestly the people that run the market could drop the price and probably make everyone happier. As a customer I think having to pay $10 or $15 just to get in the door really takes away from money the vendors could be making. they are makimg so much from the vendors they dont need to charge customers to shop. Thats another big downer there.
Yes definitely, I would also think they would at least try to consider that in booth fees and lowering them for times of the year where sales are not typically as high. I do think it's interesting charging people to come in and shop. I think their idea is that if people are paying to come in they are serious about shopping but I do agree that it takes away some of their shopping budget for sure. It is interesting because they do bring in good traffic I wonder what it would be like if they didn't charge the fee to get in if it would be even bigger!
I would suggest maybe having some items target towards a younger demographic? I know you do a lot of mom theme items, so that wouldn’t appeal to younger women who aren’t moms that go to those events.
I do have mom products but I would say almost 90% of my apparel is targeted towards a younger demographic! All of my shirts/pullovers are made for a younger demographic (but really for everyone!) :)
@@googoogoods great! I’ve noticed so many younger people on the sped up portions during your fairs. It’s so hard to get a right balance especially with apparel.

That is a crazy cost to set up...wow
Yes definitely pretty pricey!
Great vlog. I love your setup.
Thank you so much I appreciate that!!
wow...adding 1k to my cost of goods is something to think twice, i'm half way of the video and i cant wait to see if you make your goal
Definitely a steep price for sure!! I didn't make my goal unfortunately lol but it was a good experience anyway!!
So it looks like they did reduce the booth prices, which is so nice! Will you be going to the summer market?
They did and the booth is bigger!! I'll be there in June, it's going to be at a different venue that I'm super excited to see!!
@@googoogoodsI can definitely grab you some food from your favorite food truck , I’ll be there!
Love your videos ❤❤❤ you're living my dream!! Thanks for being an inspiration. What was the song playing at 4:00 ? 😍😍😍
Thank you so much I truly appreciate it!! I get all of my music for my newer videos from Epidemic Sounds! It's this song you can find on there: www.epidemicsound.com/track/2uTrozAnR3/
Love th8s girls voice who is she I'm from the UK fantastic products BTW 😍
The application fee is for administrative according to their application information.
What’s the one in Miami
The Miami Markets for Makers!
That booth fee is way too high you should definitely complain about it that’s ridiculous
Your shirts just look like t-shirts on a hanger. Can’t see your design on the shirt. You need to display so people can see your designs on the shirt
Love you so much. You are absolutely darling but please please speak slower. It is so hard to understand you and I really want to know what you are saying
I'm so sorry!! I'm a naturally fast talker for sure I will try so hard to slow it down! I appreciate your patience with me!!
