A cool idea for the ones that you don't like the look or quality of--a clearance bin. It will make it easier for customers to understand why something would be a lower price than a similar one. Customers often judge prices based on size over workmanship. They may not be able to spot what you consider a quality issue simply because they don't know the craft.
I know you don't want us to talk about pricing but I think it's so smart to lower the prices of the stuff that hasn't sold in a long time. I don't think I would of ever thought about that myself. Like I would of just pulled it from my markets but you're still making the materials money back instead of losing profit. Genius
It’s ok to talk about prices, I just don’t want people being rude/snarky about my business decisions! I almost just cut them all up and got back my stuffing, but my time still went into them and they aren’t all bad so I thought I would try selling them for less and it worked!
Hey Anna just stumbled across your channel and this is the only video I’ve seen. Great stuff. I will certainly watch more. Remember, you are an artist. What is easy for you is impossible for others. People will be happy to pay a good price for your art. Even more importantly, be proud of yourself.
Hi! Thanks for checking out my video, I’m glad you liked it! It’s very easy to forget I’m just one person running a small business when everything we see is big corporations trying to out-price each other. Thank you for the reminder!
As a Boomer raised with crafty female relatives, I was knitting and crocheting during recess in fourth grade and tatting by sixth. I am so glad to see the college age and younger folks getting interested in it again. I think maybe a generation missed the handmade movement I experienced in the earthy 70's. Recently I was at a music festival in Colorado and was crocheting in the audience for four days and nights. You would not believe the number of men (!) who sidled up to me and asked what I was doing. Not what I was MAKING, they did not even know the handcraft I was doing! The women did not seem interested, just in their phones. :-)
woah that’s awesome that people were brave enough to come up and ASK what you were making! A lot of people assume i’m knitting but more and more are recognizing crochet!
Loved your video. On the pricing: it’s almost impossible to know over a video if your prices are high or low so idk how anyone could comment on that. There’s so many factors: market saturation, income in the area, where you buy your yarn, and other costs. I heard you comment on Etsy prices, I’m on Etsy and sell in craft fairs. I make it known in all my Etsy advertising that in person sales are cheaper because I do free shipping and Etsy takes a percent. So Etsy pricing and in person is different (easy example is my mini bees $4 in person around $9 on Etsy because of all the shipping costs) I always tell people to make sure you charge what you’re worth. But there’s a million factors that go into determining that. I’m glad you found the price for you and are sticking to it!
Thank you for the feedback, I’m so glad you liked the video! exactly! that’s why I just tell people not to come after me for my pricing 😂 I’m still learning and even if I think someone is charging too much/too little I don’t say anything because it’s their business and their choice!!
All these prices are perfect. Most people think it’s too expensive but it all depends on time, yarn, and price of the material. Hope this helps with future projects
Ive done quite a few markets and I HIGHLY recommend setting up the tent no matter what. Cloudy? Set it up incase it rains. Sunny? Set it up so you dont fry. Its always worth it
You did great! I love your turtles and the way you displayed your chickens. I like the eyes you use also. Several years ago My mom and I did craft fairs together. We did a variety of handmade items. It was a lot of work!! Then the market seemed to change and there were less handmade items, cheap stuff from China. Hard to compete with their prices. You've had a great start. Keep it up, as long as you still enjoy doing it!
Thanks!! I keep seeing peoples market vlogs saying there are people selling mass produced crochet items in their areas which terrifies me not only for my own business but for those who are not getting paid a fair wage to create these handmade items!
You are so sweet! I loved watching your video - your energy and enthusiasm for crochet plushies is awesome! I love how you have a wide range of priced items to cater for all budgets. Nice work!
I feel you with the chicken situation! My first market i made a ton of bees, and the first day no one bought them. i was about to drop the price but on the second day, i sold all but 4 bees! At the end of the 3rd day, all bees sold at full price. It was amazing! Don't give up on the chickens lol
If you get accepted for the cheerleading event, I think a great idea and a great seller would be if you made plushies of some of the mascots. You could look up if any of the teams have mascots and make little plushies, because then people on that team are more likely to buy that than a random plushy, and people will probably tell teammates about them so I think it could be really successful. Loved this video!
Anna, you are on your way! You will get better at what you are doing and some products you will get better at over time. The right prices you decide on will come also for your area. Each market venue will be different in what you nay sell. Your set up looks great. Keep up the good work.
Hi! I got it on clearance at Hobby Lobby! I saw another creator got one and I went and got it too! I usually don’t like supporting Hobby Lobby due to their anti-LGBTQ+ and other values I disagree with.
Thank you! I got it at Hobby Lobby sadly (I usually don’t purchase from them due to their anti-lgbt views that I do not agree with, I am a very strong ally)
You have quite an opportunity if you get into that market you applied to! Parents will buy their participating kids gifts. Maybe make some long stem flowers, teddy bears if not too time consuming, and look up cheer leading gifts and consolation gifts. Go with $4,000 in inventory! 20 schools is a lot of people and potential customers! Hugs!
I think your prices are spot on. Pretty much what I'd charge. Some ppl charge so much that I KNOW I wouldn't pay, and that's how I price mine. Glad you had a great market. I'm worried about doing a 2 day one due to my health issues.
@@miss.a.crochet Sell them in coastal Texas where the shrimpers live! They even have shrimp festivals! (Shrimporee in June, Aransas Pass) Or, market them hanging off of a margarita glass like a shrimp cocktail. :-)
Your products plus the quality, size, and time seem fairly priced!! And I totally understand having to raise the price to still afford demand and make profit I think you’re doing well I would buy! EDIT OMg THE FROGSSSSSSSSS AND ALLIGATORSSSSSS OMG! You’re so talented I could never
Great video! As someone who is interested in trying a few local craft shows this year, this helps me a LOT! I would love to try some of the stress pets, but I am having a hard time reading the pattern. I’ve been trying to find a good tutorial for it, but haven’t had any luck. Any chance you can point me in the direction of one or maybe make a short showing how to start them?
I love, love, love doing markets. I have done a lot of markets for a lot of years, I'm 64 years old. Plushies are definitely the best handmade items to sell. Everyone from young to old seem to love them. I usually do fairly large markets, but decided to do a market at a Tractor Supply store near me. My granddaughter works there and wanted me to attend. There was a huge festival going on near by so I'm sure everyone was there shopping. It was me, and 1 other vendor who was selling honey. I think maybe 10 people came by for the 4 hours I was there and I still managed to sell around $100 worth of plushies. I can never tell what will be best sellers at any given market, but I do know that frogs may be super popular at one and chickens at the next. Hope you get into the market you applied for and if you do, good luck!!
congrats on such a successful market! I did a really affordable market in my area recently and made like $100, yes it's very rewarding to know that people love your handmade items. I make mostly handbags but I also weave and do digital art prints. Your prices are great, definitely price worth your time and investment in the yarn. adorable plushies!!! wish you all the best.
Love your work! Congrats on your first market, that's a huge achievement! Your plushies are so cute, including the chickens. I've found when selling at craft markets people are afraid to pick things up if they are hard to reach or might knock something over... I wonder if the hen house, while very cute, might have deterred people from buying them? With toys especially people love to touch and squish them before they buy! Perhaps you could use a different display? Or, the same display but with a few more chickens pecking in front of the hen house? See how you go. Keep up the cuteness! :)
You did really well! Plushies are a great niche. The chickens were really cute. I can't get into them. I made an elephant once a long time ago and that was enough to let me know amigurumi is not my jam. I do maybe one or two shows a year and the thing I've learned is to make things for kids. I have had parents who said last year they couldn't find scarves for her kids. That happens at every show. It finally dawned on me to make things geared for kids. I got my biggest idea from you was your signage. I had the idea to do signage the way you did yours and you confirmed it for me. I'm in the midst of making my inventory for the show in October.
Nice! Amigurumi isn’t for everyone, my best friend is in love with crocheting blankets now! I feel like items for kids creates the biggest customer base, you have the kids, parents, grandparents, and other family/friends purchasing from you!
I got it at Hobby Lobby ( I usually don’t purchase things from Hobby Lobby due to their anti-LGBT+ beliefs and I’m an ally) and it was in clearance so I’m not too sure they have it anymore!
Love it and yes price is right and I know it’s hard my daughter started and now makes so many things she has made all her winter sweaters I want to learn but I’m scared to start
This was my first time seeing you. Congratulations on a great market. Sorry about the sunburn. I love your positive attitude. You even made me think beyond the sale. I'd never considered the play time it might have or snuggles. Thanks for that. 🧶💚
This video is really helpful! I always struggle with prices, because I feel like oh its too much, no one is going to buy it, I need to lower the price. But I also spent a lot of time making this plush. Trying to learn how to value my time and work, thank you for sharing your experience!
I love your energy and excitement about your crafts! I'm sure that came off to the customers as well which I'm sure helped your sales. I definitely would have bought at least one chicken! I have chickens, ducks, alpacas, bunnies, and a kitty so I would definitely gravitate to any of those too!
hi! I love your content and I was curious how you found a market to sell at? Im new to crocheting and planning on making an etsy shop but I also want to know how to find markets!
I love your plush. The hardest thing for me is pricing. I think you pricing is fine. Do you have a formula you follow in developing youe price. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your video
Yes! I weight out my yarn before I make the project and after to determine how many oz I used and I usually pay myself $10 an hour (maybe $12 if it’s really complicated)
So, this isn't negative at all but I love how wild and all over the place your prices are. Idk why but that was so entertaining. I even backed up and watched that part again haha.
I don’t think they don’t sell well, I think it’s just easier to make bigger things with chunky yarn and customers are really attracted to softer plushies
Yeah I purchased a lot of acrylic yarn when I first started crocheting and now I wish I hadn’t haha There are people I’ve seen who use cotton or acrylic for their plushies, it’s just not what I prefer!
I’m a new to crochet plushies I usually crochet clothes but those take a long time and I really wish to sell crochet items that don’t take as long so I’m considering selling plushies so thanks for helping me figure out how a market works!
I love your plushies. I have an up coming market here in the UK in October and I’m inspired to make the bats you made. Congratulations on your amazing first market, I hope mine goes as well 🤞
Oh goodness, the alligators are so cute! Isn't it funny how things seem like a lot in totes but not a lot once you get them on the table? I love bats with and without fangs. Your tags are super cute as well. Thank you for sharing your progress!
Hi! This is my first time seeing your channel and I loveee it!! My favorite thing is definitely the pancake whale-- which brands/shades of yarn did you use to make that? I'm looking for similar colors, but my favorite brands don't seem to have anything close enough.
Thank you so much! I was really nervous going into it, but it ended up being a great experience so I definitely recommend when you’re ready to try one out!
This is amazing! You made so many cute plush! I hear you on that triceratops! I just don’t have the bandwidth for the original pattern 😂 but have you tried the revised frill pattern they put out? It’s so much easier! Happy crocheting!
Thank you! I saw there was a revised frill version, but I haven’t made it yet. I think the hardest part of the pattern is the row after the frills so if I made it again I would do the drills in the FLO
if your event has any theme try and make things to go with that, for example i’m doing a winter market soon so i’m making lots of penguins and deer because they go with the market and seasons! As for pricing, I have an entire video about that. Recently i’ve been using the pricing method i showed in the video, plus adding 10% to ensure I make a profit.
I love the jellyfish with the long tentacles. If you can make that much money off of each one then kudos to you. I can't ever sell my stuff for what I think they're worth or even less. Oh I also love the little frogs lol.
thanks! It took a couple markets for the big jelly to sell for that price (I might have added a discount I cannot remember) but he eventually sold! I love the frogs too, I’ve just made so many I get burnt out making them
Hey I look at it this way if you can sell your products for the price you put on them and people buy them great but I think that a lot of people are saying you know you’re too high because when they try to do the same thing where they live it doesn’t work because it’s where they live you know you may have to go to three or four shows before you sell the higher items but you never know what people are going to pay for anything
A cool idea for the ones that you don't like the look or quality of--a clearance bin. It will make it easier for customers to understand why something would be a lower price than a similar one. Customers often judge prices based on size over workmanship. They may not be able to spot what you consider a quality issue simply because they don't know the craft.
I was thinking of doing that, but I didn’t and now I have hardly any clearance items left 😅

Is there an estimated date on when you will upload a new batch♥️🫶🏽 let me know please and thank you
Thank you so much! I am not currently selling any of my physical plushies on Etsy as I have a market in October, but I do sell my patterns on Etsy!
I even backed up and watched that part again haha.
haha yeah I definitely wanted to get some of my old plushies just out of my inventory so I could feature my newest and best work! Thank you!
I wanna eventually do one but with my custom jewelry peices
Nice! I love wearing jewelry because I find making jewelry very difficult 😅
Do you have the otter tutorial?
I don’t but one is a free pattern on insta and the other is a paid pattern!
@@miss.a.crochet thanks
It seems most market makers use the thick yarn, does regular 3-4 weight yarn not sell well?
I don’t think they don’t sell well, I think it’s just easier to make bigger things with chunky yarn and customers are really attracted to softer plushies
@@miss.a.crochet that kids sucks because I have tons of regular weight yarns that I make my amigurumi with
Yeah I purchased a lot of acrylic yarn when I first started crocheting and now I wish I hadn’t haha
There are people I’ve seen who use cotton or acrylic for their plushies, it’s just not what I prefer!
I’m impressed that you went to a market and sold $450 worth the Crocheted toys
me too hahaha
I’m a new to crochet plushies I usually crochet clothes but those take a long time and I really wish to sell crochet items that don’t take as long so I’m considering selling plushies so thanks for helping me figure out how a market works!
Clothes can be complicated 😅 I’m sure you would do just fine making plushies since (I think) making clothes is harder
So cute, great job! I’d so buy them if I went to you market. Great job, and I think your prices are spot on! :)
thank you!!!
I love your plushies. I have an up coming market here in the UK in October and I’m inspired to make the bats you made. Congratulations on your amazing first market, I hope mine goes as well 🤞
Thank you so much! I have another market in October too so I hope both of our markets go well!! 🥰
Seriously seeing the kiddos faces after buying them is the best
It totally is!!
Oh goodness, the alligators are so cute! Isn't it funny how things seem like a lot in totes but not a lot once you get them on the table? I love bats with and without fangs. Your tags are super cute as well. Thank you for sharing your progress!
thank you so much!! I definitely felt like 136 plushies was a lot, but it really wasn’t 😅
You are adorable and I love the enthusiasm ❤❤
Thank you! I really appreciate it! 🥰🥹
I really wanna do a winter market and I wanna get as much info as I can about the experience and what I'll need, so this was a great help!
I’m glad it helped! I hope your market goes great!!
I love the angry uterus that is hilarious and I love the dragon
thank you!
Awesome work!! Where did you get that Woodlawn chicken display? I love it!
I sadly got it at Hobby Lobby (I usually try not to shop their because of their anti-LGBTQ+ views)
@@miss.a.crochetI searched on hobby lobby but can’t find it. What would it be under?
I got it on clearance so it sadly might not be available anymore 😩
I think your prices are really reasonable. Love everything especially the Halloween ones! And fangs all the way for the bat. 😊
Thank you!! 🦇🧛
Hi! This is my first time seeing your channel and I loveee it!! My favorite thing is definitely the pancake whale-- which brands/shades of yarn did you use to make that? I'm looking for similar colors, but my favorite brands don't seem to have anything close enough.
Thank you so much! I used bernat blanket in Sand, Vanilla, burnt mustard (I think), and Taupe
Do you have the alligator pattern?
I have the pattern linked in the video description of “Everything I crocheted in July 2023”
Omg where do I find your mini bee pattern???? In love
I’m thinking of making a tutorial for it soon!
Oh please do!!❤❤❤
Omg hiii you´re sooo cuteee, congrats on your first market I hope someday I can do it too :)
Your awesome! Great job! I love your ghosts!
Thank you so much! 👻
im making a buch of dinos an other things to sell next year at one of the parades in my town how should i go about pricing them
I would take into account the material cost and time cost and if it feels too low for the work, add on a couple dollars.
@@miss.a.crochet tank ou ^^
Since you’re in the Midwest- Are you coming to crochet con in Omaha in the spring?
WHATTTTT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE
@@miss.a.crochet it’s the first year it’s being put on! I’ve seen a lot about it on Tiktok
I want to go so badly!
i be doing my 1st market in collingwood ontario canada what should i crochet and price
if your event has any theme try and make things to go with that, for example i’m doing a winter market soon so i’m making lots of penguins and deer because they go with the market and seasons! As for pricing, I have an entire video about that. Recently i’ve been using the pricing method i showed in the video, plus adding 10% to ensure I make a profit.
You have cool items and your prices a steal 😱
thank you so much!
I love the frogs too, I’ve just made so many I get burnt out making them
New subscriber here. Fun video. I love your energy! I also live in Minnesota.😊
Thanks for subscribing! Minnesota gang!!!
I want the duck in a dinosaur costume pleeeeeease! Too cute!
He was one of the first plushies that sold!
@@miss.a.crochet make another! I’ll pay for you to mail! ♥️
we shall see if I have time hahaha my semester has been crazy!
Hey I look at it this way if you can sell your products for the price you put on them and people buy them great but I think that a lot of people are saying you know you’re too high because when they try to do the same thing where they live it doesn’t work because it’s where they live you know you may have to go to three or four shows before you sell the higher items but you never know what people are going to pay for anything
that’s a good way to think about it!
Congratulations 👏👏👏
I would love if in Brazil had this kind of market.
Thank you! When I was in Peru so many people were selling their crochet items in small shops all over! Maybe you just have to be the one to start it!
That angry uterus is FANTASTIC. Love the idea!
haha thank you!
you should come back! i did do finn creek as a market once! i also really love your plushies!
I’m hoping I can come back next year!
I started making turtles so I’m hoping they are a big hit for my next show
yes!!!!
